This is one of the last vestiges of your good old fashioned local shop that sells ice cream, sandwiches, snacks, drinks, candy, etc. All the things you wanted to buy when you were a kid. A four dollar scoop here puts it places to shame.Looking forward to going back.

I love coming here for ice cream and food to support Tom. Everything is sooo affordable and portions are huge. There’s a large selection of ice cream and candy. Tom is one of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve ever met. He’s so appreciative and grateful of any tip you can leave, and he really works hard to provide A+ service to ensure you’re happy.

Amazing selection and the very best service. I got the waffle cone and spumoni but they have everything from green tea, to chocolate chip mint. They also offer incredible prices on food such as chili dogs and sandwiches. A bunch of candy in the shop as well. This place is one of the best places in the city. I recommend stopping by and enjoying the top rate service from the owner himself. Supporting black-owned businesses is so important.

I went to this ice cream shop with my family in May, and it felt so nostalgic. I love the old classic look! Tom who served us, was such a sweetheart. Could be a line, but trust me, it is worth the wait. I brought the Taro flavor ice cream to try and it was so creamy and delish!! Definitely a must visit when youre in San Francisco!

This place is a gem! The owners are the most pleasant and adorable shopkeepers in the city. Lots of yummy Mitchell’s brand ice cream including my favorite, grasshopper pie. If you want to travel back in time to your childhood, they have the blue bubblegum ice cream! Rum raisin was also delicious.If you like deli pickles, you need to try one. Huge, crunchy, and flavorful!

A very sweet man named Tom made me a delicious Cookies n Cream milkshake. This place is old school, theyve got Bubble Gum Ice Cream!!! I havent had that since I was 12. Theres also lots of candies from my youth as well, like Sour Punch Snakes, Nerds and various other Willy Wonka Candy. The prices are incredibly low so definitely tip the proprietor to keep him in business. Itd be a shame to see this place disappear and be replaced by another overpriced hipster restaurant.

This ice cream shop may be the best in all of Northern California. It rivals all of the boutique ice cream parlors in flavor and its ran by one of the nicest people youre likely to meet in SF. Cannot recommend it enough!

The owner here is super friendly and its definitely an interesting experience getting ice cream here. The style of ice cream is very old-fashioned American ice cream, reminds me of the ice cream I got from the country of upstate NY. The texture is super creamy and the portion size is very generous. I got the strawberry flavor and really liked it, not overly sweet and with strawberry pieces. The ube was different from the soft serve you typically get from asian ice cream/soft serve places, and tastes just like ube. Also cash-only.

I had the pleasure of visiting Miyako a couple weeks ago. It was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to an ice cream sundae. The experience of visiting Miyako was the highlight of my birthday! I was fortunate to meet Tom, the owner, who is kind, considerate and proud of his shop. And rightfully so! They have so many flavors of ice cream, from the classics to flavors from around the world! My sundae was huge, with three types of ice cream, three sauces, whipped cream, nuts and cherries. At only $5, it was a steal too! I happily tipped extra. I’m looking forward to my next cone from Miyako!

A truly wonderful experience. This is a TEENY TINY shop and chock full of character. Tom, the gentleman who runs the place, is very friendly and serves not only delicious ice cream but the scoops are enormous. I cant believe how inexpensive it is, either. He could honestly charge twice as much and it would still be a deal (so give him a generous tip).I was able to have some really unique flavors thanks to him serving Mitchells.Not only do I 100% recommend a visit... Pretty good Miyako Old Fashion Ice Cream. The service was quick and nice. I had the teddy with the black sesame, sea salt caramel, and the hazelnut flavor. The base was the sea salt caramel and even though it was good, I wished I got the black sesame flavor. It was honestly so good I wanted more.

This ice cream shop is simply delightful! The owners, Tom and Teresa are absolutely pleasant, lovely people. Just talking to them will make your day. 10/10 customer service for sure! And the ice cream portion is really generous - I asked for a single scoop and Tom was very generous in piling it up! Highly recommended not just for the ice cream, but for the utterly delightful people working there. :)

This place has been around since I was a kid growing up in the Fillmore, they sell old school candy like; boston baked beans, chico sticks and good ice cream. One of the few places left in the neighborhood, check it out.

The owners are very nice. The ice cream selection is phenomenal. The Japanese ube made from purple yams is unreal. Sweet potato pie but with yams. I had a banana split which was filled...good portions. There is a park next door. Grab an ice cream and enjoy the best ice cream...(Mitchells home made).

Small little old fashion ice cream shop. Its in the historic Fillmore district of the city. The ice cream is on point and I always stop by for the sandwiches. The prices are some of the best in the city I dare you to find better and post it. It is cash only so keep that in mind. The scoops are generous when grabbing some ice cream. Always seen this place on yelp for a while, glad I started coming often.

MilkShakes are good. The old guy working there is just too old and slow for this . Took 20 min to make a milkshake. Also he dont use gloves or face mask. He cut fruits and touched ice cream with his bare hands.

This is the coolest little ice cream shop I’ve ever been to! I got a hot turkey sandwich w/ potatoes salad and side of nachos and it was only 3.95!!! Awesome price for all of that food first of all and second it was the type of comforting sandwich leaving my tummy feeling very very warm :-) super good and fresh sandwich w hot meat! And the potatoes salad was seriously some of the most flavorful I’ve had. The owner Tom is super nice and took the time to make sure everything was good and that we were happy! The warmest most cozy feeling little shop ever! Amazing prices too totally reminds me of the simpler times! Parking wasn’t bad at all was able to find a spot only a block away (: I’ll definately be coming here regularly thanks Tom and family for a great place!

This place has been here over 20 years, great sandwiches and delicious ice cream in an assortment of yummy flavors. We always get a cone for the baby(now almost 4)and sometimes a sundae or banana split. They are the nicest people around. Their little parlor has candy too, a whole list of treats.

I literally paid $3.50 for a hot pastrami sandwich with a side of macaroni salad and a mini portion of nachos. Not only that I received the best customer service I have encountered in a long, long while. I will be back for under $3 scoops of Mitchells ice cream very soon. Miyako has the best prices, service, and selection/flavors of old fashioned ice cream in SF. Tom, the owner and server, has owned the place for decades. He is very gracious, and will prepare your dessert to your preference, whether it be old fashioned waffle cone, shake, sundae, banana split, etc... He also makes snacks like deli sandwiches and nachos. I was pleasently surprised to find a shop this inexpensive & with this level of personal service in SF!
