Nice place to visit and taste some special ice cream.

Churn started with a pop-up and now has this styling storefront location next to the old Avenue Theatre in the heart of Portola. We went on one of the hottest summer days and really enjoyed Deep Dark Cocoa (vegan!) and Chai Chocolate Cardamom. The Berry Frose Sorbet was also a big winner. The Matcha Stracchiatella not as great as the combination seems less than harmonious but it was innovative so they get an A for effort on that as well. They were making waffle cones in house when we visited and we will be back for sure.

A creamery using local ingredients for classic and fun flavors in their scoop cabinet. They pack quarts and packs for those who want it to-go. Our group of 8 (mostly kids) ordered and sat in the window. The people behind the counter were very patient with us, and fortunately, so were the customers behind us. Its close enough to South Bernal to drive over and meet our family coming from Candlestick. Glad there are some new businesses coming into this side of town to liven up the place. Between the 8 of us, we ordered Mint Chocolate Stracciatella, Birthday Cake (not overly sweet, fluffy vanilla cream w/ sprinkles), Roasted Banana, Strawberries n Cream, Vanilla, Milk Chocolate, Andytown Coffee, Dark Cocoa (vegan). Well definitely will be coming to support this small family-friendly business more often.

Great and simple ice cream. The ingredients are great, you can see them make the ice cream. Hidden gem among many options in sf. Great covid precautions.

It’s great to see a place that uses so many locally sourced ingredients AND it’s delicious! I couldn’t resist this crème brûlée flavor and even had little crunchies of crème brûlée top in it. I’m definitely coming back to try the pumpkin flavor when it’s in. The pumpkins come from the owner’s backyard!

Having Churn in my neighborhood is great! Nothing better than going there after a trip to the local farmers market to sit in their outdoor space and enjoy an excellent affogato. Friendly service, fresh ingredients, they support local businesses, and they really came through for the community in the early stages of the pandemic by carrying hard-to-find staple items. Also, the horchata ice cream is bomb!

Ive had Churn cater a couple of events at my work and they always exceed my expectations. The ice cream is so delicious and the variety of flavors is on point. Also the fact that they have vegan options is amazing for non-dairy folks. Highly recommend!

I was at the grand opening! The ice cream is top notch! The best part is its in my hood! Love the matcha green tea ice cream cones. If youre looking for something better than vanilla or chocolate get over there!!! My fave is the roasted banana pudding 😍 try the rosemary olive please.

Great experience but food was dry

Churn offers the best ice cream flavors. Our favorites are the strawberries and cream along with mint chip so far. You can taste the simple and natural ingredients in them, which are extremely flavorful and not overly sweet...just perfect. The owner is a beautiful person with the cutest son. I definitely recommend Rica’s ice cream.

Churn has many vegan selections and delicious baked goods. Now with outdoors seating and extended hours. This is probably the best shop on San Bruno Ave.

Stoked this place finally opened! Im always searching for more vegan ice cream spots and love they have a big variety of both vegan and non-vegan. I got the vegan dark cocoa (my favorite) and the plum basil sorbet together in standard (2 scoop). Im not a big fan of super sugary sweets stuff anymore and can really tell the difference in how fresh this is, so Im glad to have found this spot. Great service and look forward to trying out other flavors!

Grand opening today! Strawberries and cream is soooooooooo good. Hands down the best strawberry ice cream Ive had. The salted pretzel is also good. Will be back again. Happy that there is a neighborhood ice cream store next to the neighborhood brewery!

I really enjoyed the icream but disliked the custer service, teller was upset because I could not tip. Other than that 5stars for the flavors.

One of my favorite ice cream shops in the city! Their flavors are so unique and the ones I got to try were so yummy. It was such a tough choice which one to choose, but I ended up choosing the Secret Breakfast.... Omg must try!!

Super brand new spot. Like two-days old. Read about the opening in the neighborhood, with Mayor Breed and all.Awesome addition to the San Bruno Ave! They’re clearly working out the kinks of their new shop. Staffs a bit disorganized. I came in on Sunday in the early afternoon to a modest crowd. Can’t imagine what the lines would’ve been like if the line was any longer. Hopefully this will be work out soon!The two flavors I tried were Banana Pudding and Mint Chip. BP was really flavorful, but a bit on the sweeter side (for my personal taste buds). Mint Chip was refreshingly, delightful, with the mint leaves all chopped up and blended nicely into each bite. Got mine I’m a matcha waffle cone. ‘Twas memorable 🤗Will return again - 4 stars!

Lovely new addition to our neighborhood. My favorites are chocolate cardamum and rosemary olive oil. Both are vegan by the way. They also serve dairy ones. Price is also good. $3.50 a scoop. 4.50 for 2 scoops. I saw mommies and grandmas sitting and enjoying their ice creams chatting away underneath the chairs are their bags of groceries. No techie phones. Servers are young but very gracious and respectful. Its like they are serving their moms or grandmas. Definetely cute place just to hang around and start conversations

Tried three different flavors all unique and tasted awesome. Prices were very reasonable. Entire family is very excited for this addition to the neighborhood.

The ice cream was very good I got the watermelon sherbet and you can taste the fresh watermelon flavor in the ice cream. The owners are very nice too.

The strawberries and creme was a perfect balance of flavor while maintaining its richness. Well done.

Its an average ice-cream shop with nothing special about it. You have some seating space and its surrounded by local shops and bicycle parking is right there.In term of the ice-cream: they have a selection of creative flavors (from crème brûlée to banana pudding); but the execution was not great: the texture was not smooth enough and the flavor was just off.If you get the cones, you might be surprised to not have the regular crunchiness. The matcha waffle cone we had was chewy. Prices are reasonable, its San Francisco.

The vegan ice creams are so good! They always change the flavors but they really figure it out how to make ice cream without using a poor cow.

Very clean, everyone is nice, and the ice cream is to good for its own good.
