How I love shaved ice cream! It is deceivingly light and feathery but packed with so much flavor! My go-to is the black sesame with cream. I’m drooling just thinking about it. Another favorite is cereal milk with fruity pebbles. A Kid’s fantasy! It is a tiny shop so be prepared for a line if it’s hot out. Or just get one when it’s freezing like I do.
Ice cream is made to be more like a shaved ice. NOT CREAMY. I tried the green tea flavor, which had a very good and strong flavor, but I couldnt entirely get behind it due to the texture consistently being that of ice cream left in the freezer too long and its started to form crystals. I got one that had dairy, but it didnt really taste like dairy because of the ice-y-ness.
Been here several times and tried all the flavors. Their desserts are always made to order and have great flavors; my favorite is the vegan coconut one!
Love the texture and the flavor of their ice creams. Sad that their food truck closed in mission Bay.
Creamy authentic Taiwanese Snow Ice. Light, cool and you select toppings. A large can be shared by two (date!) They’re Earth friendly too with bio cups and spoons. They have cozy outdoor seating to soak in the sky as you eat clouds of flavor.I had Horchata with a hint of cinnamon, topped off with strawberries 🍓 as a tribute (and hint) for strawberry horchata flavor snow. My wife got Vietnamese coffee with very fresh mocha. If you don’t like the line at Salt & Straw, try this out.
Portions weren’t as generous as in the photos the day I went, but it was super tasty.
A very unique concept. Very similar to ice cones but still little different. I do not like the lack of seating space at this location. If you are planning to go there with a group of 4-5 people beware that you will not be able to seat inside. Just not enough space! Also, it is difficult to taste different flavors because they would have to shave it before providing a sample.
Great menu and good social distance setup. It has some curbside seating & standing area for waiting / eating. We took the shaved ice & ate in our car :)
Great and simple varieties of shaved ice, we got the Vietnamese Coffee and the Strawberry, both excellent. I had the Vietnamese Coffee one in their chosen picks concotion thing which consisted of Chopped Almonds, Sweet Milk Glaze, and Chocolate glaze. You can really taste the Vietnamese Coffee and it blended perfectly with the sweet milk glaze. The GF got the Strawberry shaved ice with Organic Blueberries and Fruity Pebbles. The Strawberry? Terrific. All varieties come with a piece of waffle cone to dip and eat! The flavors were on point and the quality of the ingredients were up there. Prices are fair too at $5.50 I believe for a regular size and additional for toppings. We went on a rather warm day in the city and though there was a line of approximately 10-15 people, we were able to order and walk out indulging within 15 minutes. The staff was friendly and everything about this establishment was perfect. Even got a glimpse of their food healthy certificate thing, and of course, it was 100.
Croffle was good
The place is really small. They only have 6 flavors & I dont remember how many toppings but its $4.50 for the regular size and $5.50 for the large plus an additional 50 cents for each topping. I went for the strawberry ice cream with sliced almonds and it was delish 😍 the ice cream is so soft by the way 😋
I love this shaved ice cream! Ive tried two flavours so far, Horchata and Cereal Snow. Reasonably priced with decent selection of toppings, there are also combination recommendations on the top of the board. Most of staff are very friendly, informative and efficient. Tiny space, but it works well enough.Tip: use less toppings to really get the flavour of the ice cream, especially if its one of the more subtle flavours.(Cereal snow with sweet milk glaze, nilla wafers, and sprinkles).
I absolutely love this place! There are almost no flaws with what they do, and every one there is really nice! I highly recommend it if your around and looking for a good dessert. I’ve gone here many of times and they never let me down. The effort and quality put into this place deserves five stars. This is one of my favorite places in the city to get dessert and I hope that everyone else who travels here will have the same experience as I did. I cannot describe the perfection of this dessert, I can only describe my experience. I highly recommend this place and hope that others do the same. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
DEF is the place for all dumplings. So glad they are opening one up in San Francisco cause now I have a place to go!Luckily the wait in Glendale inst that bad around 5-6pm weekday.Their food is amazing though and very filling. Their dumplings were as always, flavorful, juicy and comes to life when you bit into it.
Love this place. The shaved ice cream is so darn good. Plus they have mochi bits! Bonus in my book.
This place is so good and unique, I cant even describe this. The ice cream speaks for itself. It just tastes like summer. If youre visiting San Francisco, this place is a must-try.
I had the Cereal milk with strawberries 🍓😋
Decent premade selection. Not the traditional Taiwanese shaved ice desserts but enjoyed it.
Got the horchata with tcho coco and wafer pieces. Delicious!!!
This place was awesome! Good food, great beer and awesome atmosphere. Traveling for work and stopped in. Well worth it.
Good
Minimalist space. Fun to watch them climb the ladder. Light and airy like a leaf
Such delicious dessert and toppings! The powder has a uniquely fluffy and flaky texture with good flavor. My favorite is Ube with mochi and red bean toppings.
Went for a sweet treat after dinner and found a new favorite! The powder was a perfect combination of ice cream and shaved ice. Delicious and unique flavors were intermixed with the classics. Highly recommend.
Such a great concept! I love the unique flavors offered. The process gives the ice cream a light fluffy texture that melts in your mouth. I will be adding this to my must stop list for when we are in San Francisco. My only complaint is that there isnt one closer to me.
This stuff is SO GOOD. It tastes like ice cream but melts in your mouth like shaved ice. Lots of combos for flavors and toppings. The milk glaze stuff and the mochi are my favorite. The black sesame and purple yam flavors are super unique and delicious. Nowhere to sit inside so you kind of have to get it and go.
Try all the things!
Taiwanese-style shaved ice, so fine its almost like ice cream. Tons of toppings, I usually get matcha snow with sweet milk glaze, mochi, and fruity pebbles. Its really good, I promise!
This is the best place ever. If you love real Hawaiian shaved ice you will love Powder. Its like taking a bite into powder fresh snow but in ice cream form. Wish we had something like this in our area where we live.
So light yet so delicious. Loved it and the pricing is not bad. Went with a group and everyone liked their flavors. No complaints here
Very quick service! No line when we went but looks like we beat the after dinner crowd. We had the ube and cereal, both delicious. Great selection of toppings as well
Dont worry, youre getting Ice Cream, just shaved into fluffy light ribbons. The Horchata Ice Cream is a favorite! Friendly staff.
Small shaved ice cream parlor - good(but limited) flavors and toppings, it’s a small storefront so can get backed up during warm afternoons/evenings.
Light, airy, not too sweet. Delicious! Interesting flavors like Halo Halo and Valencia horchata!
Smooth shaved ice. Even better with toppings - ask for recommendation
Delicious Taiwanese shaved snow. Super soft and tasty. Tried the black sesame with mochi and sweet milk. Could definitely taste all the flavors and will be back soon!
Was not very flavorful. Ordered the banana coconut added almonds and coconut. Was pretty plain. Server didnt seem very happy.
Love the idea of alternative ice cream but I like regular ice cream more since its juicier than powdered snow.... And they mainly had odd flavors. I had strawberry which was among the two normal flavours. The other was Vanilla.
Ever since I saw a video review of Powder Shaved Snow on my Facebook feed, I wanted to try it out. After a few months, I finally visited and had a great experience. The shaved snow location is quite small with a bench inside and a few outdoor tables. The menu is in large lettering right when you take a step into the shop. There are specials at the top of the board and the one thing I didnt like was that you couldnt mix flavors, only toppings. I opted for a green tea shaved snow with mint cookies and vanilla syrup. It tasted divine and the shaved snow was so soft, fluffy and kept its shape in the recycled cup on my hand on a sunny day in SF. Would I come here again? Sure! Parking was actually not that bad. You have to keep a look out for street parking.
Ordered regular passion fruit + mochi. Pretty plain like it was watered-down, not like the genuine and flavorful, tart passion fruit flavor I expected and have had at other places. So-so potion for the price. The server apparently did not enjoy her job.
Theres no good way to describe these treats. Its almost a marriage of Hawaiian shaved ice and ice cream. But not that. Go and try it; its delicious!
Think of it like Humphrey Slocum, but for shaved ice. They have plenty of toppings to keep things interesting, and the ice cream itself is worth trying, if for no other reason than because its different. Plus, the staff was super friendly.
Interested shave ice concoctions here. The taste is alright. Plenty choice of toppings here. Prices are a bit premium for what you get here.
Quaint little place. Unique powder shaved ice cream! Delicious flavors.
First time i when was about a year ago and i guess i got there too late and they sold out of favors... but fast forward one year later. either everyone has clam down about them or they have increase their production, i havent seen a sold out sign even though i go there late.i love shaved ice. even thought it looks like a huge cup, you might be using your ice cream eyes to look at it, its nothing like ice cream expect maybe for the face that its cold and sweet. the shaved ice has good favor. and it doesnt leave you feeling sick after eating the whole thing by yourself.
One of the original shaved ice places in all of San Francisco and the greatest as well. I first learned about them off the grid in the city and they finally opened up a retail location in the heart of San Francisco and its worth the drive
Loved it! VEGAN flavors too( occasionally)
I came by after a meeting with a new soon to be business on Divisadero. Nice little place with outside parklet seating only. Since it was a weekday I was greeted and help right away. Its shaved snow with various flavors with some seasonal thrown it for extra measure. No matter what size you get, they prepared it the same way. Base price is listed, but toppings are extra. You get a butter thin wafer cookie at no charge. I got matcha green tea with sweetened red beans. Light and refreshing with a bit of coldness on every spoonful. A good balance cup with just enough beans to mixed up shaved snow and matcha flavor that isnt powdery. This shop is a clear winner in my book. Im trained and have years of experience to look for specific things at eateries. They met all expectations and more.
Terrific shaved ice! Great flavors too.
While with a large group... we got the Cereal ice with fruity pebbles on top, Strawberry ice with strawberry and chocolate syrup on top, and Horchata ice with cinnamon and sugar on top! They were all good but the Horchata was our favorite!
Really good shaved ice. Wasnt too crowded when I went.
Delicious!
Fun to take the kids for a new experience. They loved how fluffy the ice cream is.
Amazing Taiwanese style shaved ice! I was skeptical about a hipster take on asian style desserts, but this place is pretty awesome - amazing variety of flavors (I counted at least 7, from standards like green tea, mango, black sesame, and ube) to the seasonal (pumpkin - you would not get this at asian places!). Portions are generous, toppings are extra except for this delicious cookie that comes standard with any order. A little bummed that condensed milk did not come complementary (this is a pretty standard topping) but $0.50 extra was also not unreasonable. Great addition to the area and cant wait to come back!!!!
In a neighborhood with plenty of good ice cream, it is nice to have some variety with this shaved ice place. Black seasame and horchata are particularly good flavors. Also plenty of toppings to choose from.
Horchata shaved ice was amazing!
Super friendly staff, the shaved snow is amazing. Ive tried them all and the matcha is the best.
I would go back again. Service could be better.
Very tasty but the texture is a tad odd. Its like an adult sno-cone.
Very friendly service and the shaved ice cream is a MUST when you visit! One of the best places for dessert!!
Super smooth to the mouth, I like the sesame thats is for ppl who dont like it too sweet.
Never had this kind of ice cream before. Its like pulled ice cream (like, pulled pork). :)
Best shaved Ice in the city by a mile! Love the black sesame flavor which Ive been addict to every sunday at thei off the grid location.
It seems to be one of a kind, Id recommend at least one visit since its such a novelty.
Valrhona, Horchata and Black Sesame ftw!
This is another great example of Californian-Asian (other examples: Namu Gaji and Boba Guys) - this means fairly traditional dishes with a fresh, local twist. I love shaved snow and appreciate that Powder uses high quality, locally sourced ingredients and goes off the beaten path a bit in terms of flavors and ingredients. Get the Vietnamese coffee flavor with almonds, coconut and milk glaze!
Delicious, delicious little shaved snow shop with fantastic flavor and topping options as well as fun premade combinations.
Decent ice cream but the milk glaze and the texture of the shaved ice cream make it worth a repeat
Best ice cream I have had in my entire life. Go. Just GO.
Super light and fluffy. Black sesame is my favorite. Just a little expensive but at least there is a rewards club.
A really unique product.
Delicious and light!!.. a hybrid of shaved ice and ice cream !!... excellent service too 👍🏼
Delicious way to consume ice cream. Get the strawberry!
The Boba Guys of Taiwanese shaved snow. Great selection of quality ingredients, nicely presented and fast.
Super light and tasty. Very very sweet!
Love this place! Im a total sucker for their green tea snow with red beans!
Friendly staff. Authentic shaved ice, Taiwan style. No seating inside so best to have it on a nice day where you can sit outside.
