Wonderful, unpretentious place with affordable, simple, tasty food. Marina the owner is full of heart. Outdoor seating creates much more space, plenty of room to sit and enjoy the meal
Old fashioned diner. Years and years serving the West Village. Love the woman who owns the place and her small staff who are very very nice. Prices are average.
Brianna was wonderful with planing our wedding cake! We were even able to do our cake tasting from home! The cake was exactly what we asked for. We get all of our cakes from them and they are always fresh and delicious! Thanks again!
The absolute best place for traditional breakfast food! Delicious pancakes, French toast and Omelettes. Nothing fancy just excellent food with a wait staff that works tirelessly to ensure their diners are fed in a timely manner.
Get the French toast!! The rice pudding was pretty good (though compared to the French toast I had, it was underwhelming).Do expect a long wait though and the place tends to be crowded.
Nit what we were expecting... weird little spot but the food was perfect, prices were great. So happy to find this little spot.
The breakfast was worth the wait in line. Pancakes slightly crispy and light. Bacon crumbles on point. Service was friendly and efficient. Yep, you should go.
Nice seating outside (no dining inside), including covered area. Our service was excellent-- our orders were quickly taken and the food came soon after. We had the all-day breakfast items and they were very good. Payment is cash only. On the whole, a very nice meal.
My fav breakfast place when I come to visit NYC! Havent been there since 2017 as I was living abroad but the place did not change. I was glad to be able to support them by eating there while in NYC. Pancakes and french toasts are still amazing. Very nice people too! Ill come back anytime when I am around!
Good! I think the charm of the place might’ve gotten a bit lost in the outdoor dining experience during covid, but there’s still something so nostalgic and comforting about the vibes at a barebones classic diner, most important of which is the menu. No avocado toast or matcha lattes, but you will find some great omelettes, pancakes, and bacon.Worth a stop whenever you’re craving some good old diner food in the Village. Make sure you bring cash because they don’t take card.
Great place to grab breakfast and people watch. The prices are reasonable given the area of the city that its in. Friendly staff.....you cant go wrong with the pancakes!
What an amazing little breakfast restaurant. Was in the area early for a meeting and the stomach was calling for some food. Found this gem quickly by looking on Google Maps. Got here after 9 so plenty of seats available. I had the Corn Beef Hash which was delicious and I ordered a slice of their famous French Toast which was out of this world. The walls are adorned with pictures of celebreties who have been here, the service was super fast and the kitchen is right in front of you so you get to watch them make your food. I would highly recommend visiting La Bonbonniere. I will have to come back and try their lunch and/or dinner.
Loved the FoodInexpensive if u need a quick biteBut filling an very delightfulThe owners are very warm heartedAn extremely kind to say the leastServers were awesome an hospitableI just totally enjoyed my time hereAn if your ever in the neighborhoodPull up a chair an order from there.
Great for a passerby meal going about town. If youre hungry and want a bargain would definitely recommend. The sandwiches are good quality, but dont expect elaborate dishes. Overall great deal.
Fair. Not much attention given when I walked in. It was not at all busy, so it wasnt because of that.Little care given to fried eggs... splat and flat. Granted I asked for well-done. But looked like they were thrown on the pan.Hash browns tasted watery... only way I could think to describe them. Tasteless, I guess, until salting them 4 times.Rye toast was heavily buttered and thus, delicious, even though I asked for lightly buttered.Felt like no one in the place cared... blaaah.Gave me no reason to want to return.
Love the simplicity and honesty of this place. Great blueberry pancakes and my friend says he loves the turkey club. ’best I have ever had’ ~ Nico
TLDR: Okay interior, Fine food, Good staff, and even better prices. A great decision for breakfast. WILL FILL YOU UP :)I had breakfast here specifically the mushroom omelette and the “famous” french toast. The Omelette wasn’t anything memorable, it wasn’t seasoned well, burnt in some places an overall bland tasting. My friends got scrambled eggs on bagels which were a lot more interesting in terms of flavor and texture so I’m sure one can find better food, I just wasn’t lucky. The fries are also subject to preference, personally I’m not a fan of mushy potato chunks but both my friends liked the style of “home fries,” also they were seasoned well. The french toast is pretty good albeit it isn’t the most memorable food I’ve had, not sure this was worth the price. At the end of the day in terms of food, the prices are VERY low for NYC and you are getting good food in quantities that WILL fill you up.On a more nitpicky note, don’t bring your date here, the interior isn’t the best. The space is small, and while we found seating, there was an open gallon of milk next to us for half our breakfast. Making it feel even smaller is the random assortment of wall decor consisting of many newspaper clippings. Somehow they manage to make the space feel even smaller than it is. Also the bathroom needs work, it has a low ceiling and is very unkempt. I didn’t have any issues with the staff but at times they seemed to annoyed with our misunderstandings or changing our mind, nothing major though.
The best greasy spoon in NYC.The blueberry pancakes are my go to... you usually see celebrities there too.Fast service. Cash only
It’s good! It’s not fussy! It’s affordable! 💕
Best restaurant i’ve been in nyc! such good food and even better prices. Also, you can seat! which is extremely rare to find a place like that in this city and when you are touristing comes in handy. I ordered chicken parmesan spaghetti and these huge plates came for only 15$. Loved it! Would recommend 10/10
Food is not five stars but I think this place deserves it because its much needed in the West Village. Its fast, inexpensive, no frills. After ordering we had our food in five minutes and it was a reasonably crowded Saturday. I got the blueberry pancakes which were pretty tasty although I always wish places like these had real maple syrup. My friend had the avo omelette which was good as well (dont expect great).Oh and CASH ONLY!
Good old times back in the 90ties... It reminds me Karen my ex-wife, when we met.. Now I live in L.A and Im drunk...
Unfortunately, this was not a pleasant experience. So sad. Service was slow and inefficient. Dirty and empty tables remained dirty and empty despite the line out the door and in the sun. First experience dining here. Glad that there are other more efficient restaurants in the area to spend my time and money on. I have often passed by this restaurant wanting to stop in - no need to wonder anymore. Thanks for making the first dining experience post-Covid relaxed protocols very demanding.
LOOOVE this place! The breakfast food is amazing 👏🏼
I experienced food poisoning. I would have forgiven the rude waiter and overpriced menu if I had not needed medical attention after eating at this diner. Definitely not worth it. Youve been warned.
Who doesn’t love this place? All the food is solid, but they have the single best breakfast sausage. Order it as a side! Also check out Gus on @HumansOfNY
Not the place to bring a fussy eater (looking at you veggie/vegans.) Everything is cooked together on the same grill and only one of the staff was wearing gloves. Your menu sticks to the counter, but take all that as a good sign. No frills breakfast offering gs will leave you full and satisfied. Absolutely delicious option for classic breakfast and greasy spoon brunch. #nydiner #diner
Edit - Yes!!! My favorite diner in West Village had survived Covid Quarantine! They have so much outdoor space it actually can fit more people than before. The same awesome wait staff and delicious food that I love so much. Come back, support and enjoy!!!------This diner is from another time and place, a memory of the grimy New York of eighties and nineties. How it has survived the changing neighborhood around it is a mystery to me, but Im grateful it still exists. Breakfast all day, cash only, linoleum floor and tables, always packed on weekends since all the locals know its cheap and fast eats. Eat outside on warm, sunny days and enjoy the tasty pancakes, French toast, burgers and more. Chili, rice and beans and other warm up the soul food in the winter. I hope Bobbonniere thrives and survives the future changes for many years to come!!!
Food was honestly whatever but good news is if you’re white you’ll be treated better, seated and served quicker even if there were people ahead of you. Perfect place for yt.
Coming next year...With a new president..its fine..Greetings from germany

I liked the prices a lot! I got a veggie burger and a coffee.
Love this place! And even now during Covid they are still great. I usually have French toast, but I had a good ole BLT today. Bacon was fresh and not overcooked, toast was just right.Outdoor seating area was nicely covered from the sun with adequate spacing btwn tables. They will always have a special place in my heart!
La Bonbonniere became one of the go-to breakfast spots, every time feels like you’re visiting your old friends or parents house, so warm and home like c:
Fantastic breakfast with incredible French toast and fast service
Solo dined, food was great, favorite diner in nyc. Obsessed with the French toast, & breakfast potatoes
Fine, old school Manhattan
Great place for a quick bite to eat/ dinner I stopped at for a quick breakfast, it was very good
Line, but classic diner food, cheap and cheerful.
As good as expected it to be!! Will definitely be back when in the city!!
When I crave diner food, La Bonbonniere is the first place that comes to mind. A hot refillable coffee mug, and a plate of delicious French toast and bacon. The prices are awesome - keep in mind it’s cash only. They have outdoor seating which is perfect, and a huge menu of options.
Nice breakfast but nothing special
Best customer service. Best French toast, ive been coming here since high school in the late 90s. The owners are still as sweet as they ever have been. A real ode to the diner vibes that NYC has always excelled at.
This place is awesome. Local WV spot with fantastic prices, service, and quality food. Most people come to the WV and skip this place which makes it a fantastic spot for locals. The meat loaf is awesome. The gravy reminds you of home. Theres some veggies because we all know none of us is eating enough of them.Great spot to have a quiet meal before you go out for a night or to reflect on Americana in general. This place closes somewhat early on Friday nights, so come early and fill up.
Simply awesome, fast and good very fair price.
If you are in NYC, this is a place you don’t want to miss!! Best French Toast ever!! Their Hamburgers are delish!! All Their soaps are made from scratch and so rich in flavor.Costas and Marina are the nicest and welcoming owners that once you go in they make you feel at home. 😊👌A five star well deserved!!!! 👏👏
Fantastic food and great value. The pancakes were delicious. Breakfast here was so good we visited twice during our holiday and would love to return in future.
Long waits, mediocre to poor service, not even average food.
Breakfast brunch all day, excelent
The perfect neighborhood diner. Try the chili!
The diner per se is really cool and the food is cheap, the meals are ok.
Amazing local mom n pop diner. Extremely friendly and the food is delicious. I come back often!
Love this place, a classic West Village staple. Food is no-frills and comes out quick. Delicious omelettes.
The best French toast and breakfast
Good food good people
You wouldnt like this place, unless you like good food and good service. And hey, because of the global pandemic you get to eat on the sidewalk. Take that DeBLOWSio. Got him!
Truly dont understand why this place was so busy. Its a standard greasy spoon diner. Prices were reasonable for what you got, and what you got was quick, greasy eggs.Theres little space and not much to be said on cleanliness. But the food was edible and the servers were nice.Nothing to write home about.
Looking for a dive diner this is the place to be
Classic classic classiclove American diners that do it right and thats all youre gonna get from here. looking for crispy has from the dark corners of the griddle? you got it. want some exceptional sandwich or French toast? you got it.forget all these bougie and simplified and over priced brunch menus out there. invest in your local diner and appreciate the nostalgia of an institution of nyc. this place is that.
Great spot to grab breakfast with an old friend and discuss the state of the nation
Live At La Bonbonniere by the Candy Butchers is one of the best things I have ever heard.
This place is not that good. Google got games with this rating. Should be a 3 star place at best. Food is mediocre. People are nice. Shittiest bacon I have had in a while. Home fries are bad.Go elsewhere
This place is amazing! A true NYC diner experience with excellent service and awesome food. The owner/our waitress, Marina, gave the place a great atmosphere and occasionally came to our table to fill up our water glasses and tell us amazing stories about the diners history. I had the Baked Macaroni and it was probably the best mac n cheese that I ever had. The portions were of a good, generous size with the cheese being stringy. It looked like what macaroni and cheese always does in movies: macaroni perfectly covered in a golden cheese mix (not the powder stuff, real cheese) with the ability to make your mouth water within a second of seeing it. When my family ordered a couple of these to share between us, we didnt know what to expect, but then we discovered an amazing treat that you want to keep to yourself. The location of the diner is in a calm neighbourhood with the subway a a park not too far. I really loved my experience here. 11/10 would come back and make sure to bring friends along for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Loved it. Old school diner. Crowded, so you know its good. It is small and the seating is tight. I had an omelette with some veggies that was really good. The home fries were well made and tasty and rye toast was an option. Strong coffee too. Cash Only, so come prepared. I would return.
Decent breakfast, right next door to hotel made it extremely convenient, CASH ONLY.
Great little place with delicious breakfast/brunch foods — pretty much anything you could expect from a classic New York City diner but most everything is much higher quality than any other diner. Definitely get the french toast, which is among the best I’ve ever tried. My only complaints are that the tables are packed a bit too tightly for the space (sometimes making it difficult to get in and out of your seat) and that it can get hot in that space during the summer to the point of sweating.
Great find in the village area. Tiny dinner with a great atmosphere. Our host and manager made our time really special, including letting us know the many movies, and shows that were filmed this location. Including Mrs Masiel and Motherless Brooklyn . Coffee was the best. My wife Omelette was moist and tasty. On the other hand my French toast was just ok. The other 3 members of our group enjoyed their meal. Its uniquely NYC and would recommend it. I will be sure to return on my next visit to the City.
The place to eat in New York City. Its a rule that you eat where the cops eat as they only eat the tastiest food. Good luck getting a seat here as the whole of NYPD goes here. The food is cheap and fantastic. Its greasy and perfect. I always go with a ham, egg, and cheese and here, you cant go wrong.
Awesome breakfast place. My friend Natalia and I enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Well be back!
Best diner in the area! Best breakfast! They have great breakfast sandwiches. You wont get 5 star service but 6 star food so it makes up for the difference.
The secret here is, the best people, everything homemade, and the best fries 🤘
Love to come here for brunch on the weekends! It’s no frills, quick and friendly service, and always a guaranteed tasty meal. It gets busy but had no trouble getting a seat around 1/2pm. French toast and pancakes are very popular here but love the omelettes or sandwiches as well! Also reminder that this place is Cash only!
