Love it! Great products and super helpful staff. We visit the UES a few times a year and I always stop. Everyone there is awesome, the butchers, cashiers, everyone. The prices are very reasonable given the outstanding quality. The butchers will take the time with recommendations and really enjoy telling you about what they have.P.S. their sausage stand next door has insane specials- we loved the Chicken Brat so much I went back into the store and got a pack of them for home.
Good quality, yet expensive for what it is. Non-delicatessen items have a steep Manhattan/UES markup. I could not find better central/eastern european delicatessen for meats in lower Manhattan. You pay for the convenience of not having to schlep to a Russian store in Brighton, or a supermarket in Astoria. However, at current price levels, I will be going to Astoria, or Brighton, instead.Staff could be friendlier, but at +50% markup --- I doubt it would make me come back.
Great German grocery, deli, and butcher shop. I love their selection of German beers. The food and quality are exceptional! If you are in the UES this is a must for a quick delicious lunch. The staff are so friendly as well.
I have 2 simple questions: 1. Is it a real German product or just “German style” but actually pure American? 2. Why is “German style” low sodium bologna still full of sodium: Ingredients: Pork, Beef, Water, Salt, Dextrose, Spices, Flavorings, Sodium Phosphates, Paprika, Sodium Erythorbate, Sodium Nitrite?… Especially Sodium Nitrite?… Wow… hell of a mix! Unreasonably expensive and unhealthy. Good try with the marketing term “German style,” really throws people off the scent😉
Telling fully vaccinated people to wear a mask is socially hostile and mentally deluted. These people care more for fearmongering amd spreading anxiety disorders than doing business. Sorry, but I do not cater to mental illness, nor do I support business that spreads it. Other butchers have meat as well.
Great offering of sausages and German goods! Love the original sausages like the Louisiana spicy sausage or the cheddar cheese smoked sausage! Super high quality stuff !
Excellent foods: european delicatessen meats and cheeses and condiments served up by knowledgable grocers.
German Food Emporium, my favorite in town.Whether you are looking for meets cuts, beer or anything sausages they have it here. The service is great, they are very knowledgeable and if you don’t know what to get they are very handy with suggestions, I wish they were more stores like this in town. I only go here when I visit friends. The beer selection is very good, and chances are you can strike a conversation with a well knowledgeable person in here.I cannot recommend it Highly enough.
Wonderful discovery. With trips to Germany being rather difficult at the moment this is a great place to experience some of the foods you miss. My personal favorite: Tannenzäpfle Bier in NY!!
Waited 15 minutes while one person behind the counter helped one customer. In the meantime, several other employees were behind the counter cutting meats. No one acknowledged me and even the other customer was appalled that I was waiting that long. Not good enough to warrant that sort of wait. Left without anything; no intention of returning.
Very nice and clean store. They have many cold cuts and in house prepared dishes. They also have fresh bread and pretzels. I love their cold cuts and rye bread. It is busy but they do a good job in serving customers fast.
I work next door and pop in from time to time for the butcher section. Today I went and ordered a custom Sandwich from their Sandwich butcher board & it was the best sandwich Ive had in a while & extremely dangerous since I work two feet away! Definitely recommend!
Great quality of meats and cold cuts and salads. Counter people are very nice. Have been going here since I was a little girl (over 55 years)
Their items are delicious and authentic! In addition the service is exceptional! After a mix up, they sent me a second order overnight, delivered on Christmas Eve! I will definitely order again!
Everything is good and authentic ! Best sausages, meats, cheeses, prepared foods ! You can have sausages and beer, they make sandwiches too !
Excellent quality of all products and knowledgeable, helpful staff make shopping here like a taste of a former and kinder era.
I always stop by here when Im in the area. Get some pepper salami, fleischsalat and who knows what else! Worth the stop for German and other European cured meats, salami, ham, raw meats, and even canned fish, pickles and other canned foods.
The best of everything! Including service! Best Smoked Turkey Breast, Black Forest Ham, amazing variety of cheeses, great self-style salads!
Busy and crowded, but the line moves quickly enough and the staff are friendly and helpful. Great selection of German foods, beers, and desserts. Worth the trip from Brooklyn!
Probably the only place that has leberkäse in uptown? Not entirely sure. ibéricos, pastrami, all kinds of wursts... one of my fav places.
ARE YOU KIDDIN THIS IS OUT OF THIS WORLD SERVICE AND FOOD RATED #1
Last Name is Weber... place has awesome stuff...
Looks like they have interesting variety of products in there. I thought they were pretty rude, which is why I didnt end up shopping there. Even sent an email about my experience and never heard back. I guess they may not care about new customers since they are already well established.
THE best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life, But it’s a German market. Makes no sense, but I’m not going to argue with the fried chicken gods. I get their bratwursts and pretzel rolls twice a month and they are the best ever. Amazing smoked turkey, Bavarian hams, and the reddest ground beef I’ve ever seen. I walk from Columbus Avenue just to experience this amazing shop.
The reason fir the 2 stars is the Teewurst. It used to be so much better, now it seems like it contains more fat than anything else! Very disappointed especially its not exactly cheap and should not be sacrificed in quality! I am from Germany so I surely know how it tastes, and used to taste a few years ago. Everything else is still really good. Please make the Teewurst the way it was! This is from purchase in Pensacola Florida commissary.
Staff are really nice. Sweet little German market that sell lots of things from Germany. A must visit plus they have fresh meat and cheese. Theres also butchers who are more than happy to assist you.
Awesome. Fresh foods with great variety.Specialty items. Loads of Holiday foods.
Great little gem in the UES. These guys have their formula down pat.During the Christmas season, they have the standard Lebkuchen, Kinderpunsch, and everything else one may need. Also good location for Wursts and cheeses- however a little pricy. As for beer, probably one of the best selections of German beer but they’re missing the most important ones - Tegernseer Hells and Tegernseer Spezial.
I have been coming here for fresh meats, salads, and deli meats for 3 decades and its quality never fails. Get the fresh brats, a cup of bone broth, and some of the German style sides.
Bavarian and German food heaven. The BEST frankfurters available in the city for retail.
Phenomenal butcher shop. They have the absolute best hams, salamis, and cheeses and the friendliest staff. Pair these with bread from Balthazar’s which they have! Plus all the sides like their cole slaw and potato salad are amazing. As a bonus, they also sell specialty German beers and European snacks you won’t find elsewhere (think Milka chocolate or Manner wafers from Vienna). It is just a FUN place to shop around!
Always a pleasure to shop local with very friendly and knowledgable butchers, along with the highest quality of meats and cheeses. Worth every penny and smile. Im so grateful to live nearby and make it my local butcher!
Absolutely love having a German butcher here.
Always such friendly people and very high quality meat. Their landjäger is my favorite to take for hiking and backpacking.
Love this shop. Fresh, high-quality meats plus a range of other delicious foods. We particularly like the pretzel buns and potato pancakes. Prices are very reasonable. Friendly service, too.
Customer service is a nightmare I wouldnt order through them on mercado because they dont pick the orders correctly they then blame it on a delivery boy whos not going to steal wine cuz he doesnt even drink then they say that you said things that you didnt say apparently allegedly and always doing was standing there with the customer going over the order asking him if he would call her because its my responsibility to give her an order thats not filled correctly and they never allow us to see anything anyways cuz it sealed when we get there
Best place to get authentic german meats, sides, and also beers! Really great sandwhiches too!
Classic deli great cheese and salami
Always Clean, Always Polite, Always Delicious. Worth the visit for special cuts of meat, European Style Sausages and More.
Love their meat & cheese selection! Great service! Cant live without their bone soup now!!
This old German butcher has wonderful meats, wursts, salads, traditional home made food, cheeses, chocolate, breads, German beer steins, specialty items and many more delicious products.
Always a great spot. Masks required, only 5-6 people in the store at once, well managed and still serving all the good stuff.
Nice selection of German sweets, cold cuts, and condiments. Friendly service.
Wow! Seriously old school German sausage maker plus lots of other sausages and German products sold here. Some of my favourites include potato salad which is available in two versions -- German and AmericanOther highlights include German mustard and Swedish meatballs.
Always great! The best authentic German Deli in the city!
When I was a little girl, my Dad & Mom would take me to the Schaller & Weber Butcher on Seneca Ave. in Ridgewood, Brooklyn. They had the Best Bologna & Great meats. Glad to see theyre still around.
Great place
Great old school place to get a huge assortment of super high-quality meat and cheese. Their house-made double smoked bacon is cut to order. It is the best bacon you will have in your life.
Everyone here is amazing and the food is fantastic. All of the staff are efficient and caring. Down to earth people, the manager is so nice and friendly too! My favorite is their Black Forest ham, couldn’t live without it! My boyfriend and I live their pork belly, head cheese and breads they have for sale for sandwiches!👌 I always tell anyone to go here if they visit fromOut of NYC
Loads of authentic German products. Have to try the wurst stand and deli next time!
Great service! Feels like a hometown butcher knows everyone. I appreciate the fact that they are peanut free so my peanut allergic son doesnt need to worry about cross contamination. The prices are very reasonable and the selection is great!
Very good meat and products. They will help you with anything.
Great old school bklyn butchers. I went here with a friend during the week and she bought some lamb chops that were fantastic. Good vibe, good people.
Amazing, authentic German deli with the friendliest staff. I go in every week and they always take the time to offer me sample slices and try new things. Also one of the few places in the city to buy European products (for me, Thomy mustard and spaetzle). Makes me feel like I’m back in Germany!
Its nice to be able to purchase traditional quality German meat products and specialty foods. Its not easy continuing the traditional ways...but Schaller and Weber is doing their part to keep German culinary traditions alive and well.
I love German food. This year for my birthday, my wife bought me some sauerkraut & Bavarian style sweet & spicy mustard and a selection of knackwurst, weisswurst, & bratwurst from Schaller & Weber. Everything was amazing. Cant wait to order from them again & try something new
Always great. Service food try everything
I found the staff very willing to help at this authentic market full of Germany goodies. Great selection of sausages, meats, German beers, and candies. Prices reasonable for a specialty market.
Head cheese, cucumber salad, rum- kokos, little marzipan 🐖 for new year....bringing back my European childhood tastes and memories.Friendly smiley staffs.Cant go wrong in this place. Flavors of Europe for me..
Great butcher! Love love this place. If you live in upper east side, you must to go there!
Its my favorite place to get delicious canned and jarred food from Europe such as vegetarian soups, herring, and chocolate.
Beautiful store! There’s a gentlemen by the name of Lenny I believe, he was so helpful knowledgeable of the products. My new go to place!!!
One of the few authentic New York and Yorkville places left. The best cold cuts and sausages around. Friendly and helpful staff.
Where can you get better German provisions, meats, wine, beer etc. Truly a gem in this city
Really good stuffs (cold cuts, cheeses, bread) a bit on the pricey side. Not any equivalent in the neighborhood.
Best wurst in town. Their German selection is authentic and tasty. Fried chicken is also good, but if you go there for the first time, go for the wurst.
Great store
Fantastic place to get German groceries and meat. Just watch out for expirations on some German products 😓
Tradition, excellence, quality, experience.Clearly the best wurst in America. First tasted their product 35 years ago. My family has been eating Schaller and Weber bacon, black forest ham, westphalian ham, hotdogs, brats, smoked pork chops, German potato salad, cucumber salad, pretzels, and so many other products and condiments, imported cheeses, & NOW they have a very large selection of imported beers. Both my children have always gotten a slice of their bologna when they came shopping with us, (which is a tradition at Schaller and Weber. This is the coolest store in N.Y.C.
My review is based on a product that Schaller & Webber sell at my local grocery store Central Market in Plano, Texas. I tried the Prague Smoked Ham and it was very delicious. Thank you for being available in Texas.
The pork -- pork chops and pork loin roast -- are outstanding, and we love the German noodles they stock as well.
I love this place! Brats Ladeneger and more! All fresh all the very best!
Some of the best smoked items. A good selection of European jams.
The best true German deli in the city. Genuine sasuage meats, cheeses and beers. This place is one of NYs irreplaceables.
The meats and wurst is not bad, a little overpriced in my opinion. But what really bothered me was the staff who sold warm food, she had a “I don’t want to work attetude” and she made us feel like we bothered her. We asked for Leberkäse, which she claimed that they do not sell it. Which was wrong, they sell it part of a plate. Anyway we did not want to bother her much more and decided to get lunch somewhere else.
Good quality sausages but not at the level that you find in Germany 🇩🇪, but definitely the best you can get in the city 🌃 I also like their 🍞 potato salada is also good as the red cabbage salad. German product as stupidity expensive ... service is nice 👍🏼
I will definitely come back here to try everything on the menu
This place is great and the staff is so nice! Grabbed some great sausages and had a beer.
Very Disappointing...Ive been buying Lachsschinken from S&W directly since they expanded operations a few years ago. Before that from a variety of outlets. Loved the quality of the Lachsschinken. Its very expensive, but very tasty. However, this past month, the order arrived in an unsuitable condition. Forty percent of the weight of the meat was in the meat cover (cawl); actually double wrapped in it. It was dry, looking old, not fresh, and reduced in size. Also more grainy texture. The beautiful taste/flavor was off too. If you sell it by the pound, and they make you pay for the fatty cawl, you get less that is edible. So it was $115 delivered for 2 pounds of marginal quality product, 40% of which was fat covering. I wrote them 2 notes, without a response from either contact address. For that kind of price, youd expect someone contacting you from customer service, because theyd want to keep your business. But, then you would be wrong. Substandard product + bad customer service equals a lost customer and maybe a 2 stars stretch at most. Sad to see high expectations become what it has. Danke für nichts.
This is the kind of authentic German style cuts I look for when I go out to buy meat. Reminds me of home.
Amazing selection and friendly service. A must to check out
Clean.. great selections..best weissewurst and u can shop drinking german beer at 5.00dlrs. How can u beat that..
Amazing meat shop!!
Perfect quality and avaible price
This place is a gem. The best sausages and german cold cuts in New York. Great beer, good old timey music and awesome decor too!
Friendly and helpful staff, full service deli counter with lots ofyummy options.
Some of the best steaks in NYC, all butcher needs for soups and stews (hocks, bones, etc.). Friendly staff and store smells great. Pre-made items and genuine German store.
There is a small kiosk next door where you can order their sausages to go. (Schallers Stube Sausage Bar). Excellent food, but skip on the Fried Chicken as its precooked from the main store. You can grab any of the sausages to go from the main store as well.
