I used walk by this butcher shop almost everyday, and thought what a unique old school vibe this shop has. A great character for the neighborhood. I painted a portrait of this shop which you can see on my website, kovalfineart dot com.

I grew up with Polish friends and family in northeast Pennsylvania since then I moved to South Carolina and cannot find authentic Polish Keilbasa. My Friend brought me a few links That she had shipped from from East Village meat market as she grew up in New York and recommended the market. Hands-down it’s the best and I will continuously order from here. Even when I go back to Pennsylvania for Holidays I will have the Keilbasa shipped there to eat!

I have often walked by and never gone in. On New Years eve, I saw the amazing breads in the window and was lured in. I have been missing a lot! The hot table in the back was irresistible. I bought a little of everything to be shared with friends. The brisket, the meatloaf, pork loin and barbecue ribs were a feast for our New Years eve get together. Hand carved and wrapped in butchers paper was a nice touch. Prices were reasonable and the man who carved gave me a little taste. I also bought some crusty varieties of breads. I plan to go back and try the famous kielbasa and some of the custom meats. There were Ukrainian pantry items and various condiments. I spied homemade soups in the refrigerated case. Many things to try in this iconic neighborhood store for Ukrainian specialties. So glad I stumbled in.

This place is a slice of vanishing New York, serving up some old-school, authentic, affordable Ukrainian food. Here is where you get the most delicious, melt-in-your mouth cured meats, pick up scrumptious and huge! meat-stuffed cabbage rolls (or the meatless kind with rice), and many other tasty things that will be budget friendly. The staff here is great too, happy and chatty and it fills my heart with joy every time I stop by. Give it a try! You won’t regret it and perhaps we can keep this shop (and other authentic spots in the area) in business longer...

I was very excited to get polish food.i was very disappointed when I received it. The shipping is not proper for keeping food preserved at all. I spent $100 and I got a cardboard box and inside was a very small thawed cold pack. The food was very hot from the 2 days it spent traveling to me. I am very unhappy with this experience.

Second time visiting the store and unfortunately we have an empoyee who is only concerned on going home - he should not be working there, period. If the mission of the store is to close early then you should not allowing customers in the store. I went there 30 min before closing, this particular employee did not want to use any machinery or serve what I wanted to purchase rather he kept saying that I should have called to have my order fulfilled ahead of time. Well, I do not know what I want to purchase until I see whats available. Overall, he is rude and disappointing experience and they have lost me as a customer.

This butcher is fantastic! Unbelievable that a local butcher of this quality is still able to exist in big-corporate America. George - one of teh main patrons/possibly the owner - is super helpful, gives great deals on large orders. They always have ready made stews and soups. Sausages are unbeatable. We get our holidays roasts here every time - pork with extra crackling. Definitely worth a visit no matter how big or small your meal is. And they have sweet pastries as well!!!

East Village meat market is a great butcher shop. I was lucky enough to go into their prep area and see the locker full of kielbasa smoking in the back. If you love cured Polish meat products like all sorts of hams and varieties of sausages this is a wonderful place to get them. Its one of the only polish butcher is left in York City and totally worth visiting. They also sell fresh meats. They carry a range of prepared foods as well like perogies and schnitzels.

This might be the last Ukrainian butcher in East Village and it is definitely the best in the area, if not the city. They have their own cold cut meats and they are high quality and are very reasonably priced. I really like the city ham, head cheese and their roasted turkey. More importantly, I love their Ukrainian specialties including kielbasa, stuffed cabbage, bintzers, and dumplings.I am going to miss this butcher shop after I move out of EV!

This store can be a little overwhelming at first but the staff is friendly and will help guide you through it all. This is the go to place for Eastern European delicacies, especially cuts of meat. Their kobanos is legendary with an international following and their hams are the best Ive had since visiting Ukraine. No self-respecting Ukrainian would celebrate a holiday without stocking up here first so it can get nuts with a long line around then but most of the time its very accessible. Be sure to stop by!

After I moved to east village, I found this place and often visited. But I guess today would be my last visit due to very unfriendly customer service. I am sad that this one guy can ruin whole business image.I told him that I was looking for pork shoulder and usually they asked me how much do you need or how many cuts do you need. But, this guy literally put the whole big chunk of pork shoulder on to the scale without asking me anything. I asked him that if he could cut it as I only need small amount for bbq for 2 people. He looked annoyed and told me “just tell me how much do you need, I don’t care if it is bbq or something else” and spoke in another language that I couldn’t understand next to another staff right after he said that to me. The way he looked at me and spoke to me was very unfriendly and rude.I wanted to support local business but I guess i will just stick to trader joe’s, no need to bother myself to stop by two places for grocery shopping anymore.

Great buffet on Saturdays with tons of homemade perogis and tons of other delicious homemade food. Great eggs, butter, mustard, and most of the bread is top notch. Best bacon in the east village.
