Your go-to bike shop in Colorado. Absolutely amazing experience. Max, Noah, and the rest of the team really made us feel at home. When we arrived we had a small issue with our rental reservation, but the staff quickly figured out a solution and we got all set up in a couple minutes. Moreover, Max had all the disposition helping us to find the ideal trail for our need and wants (my girlfriend and me). At the end of the day we were thoroughly advised on a helmet we wanted to purchased and walked out the door absolutely satisfied.I hope that I have the chance to be back in boulder just to head over to University Bikes.Much love from Colombia :)

U Bikes has been my go to bike shop since I’ve lived in Colorado. I’ve recently got into triathlons, and had a brief fit with Logan to help identify a bike size that would suit me. I eventually picked up a new bike, and proceeded to have an official fit with him. He a answered my barrage of questions / fit concerns, and adjusted my bike to fit. Logan’s excellence in the details has provided an outstanding riding experience. My wife is currently looking for a bike. It was an obvious decision to stop at U Bikes and talk with Logan again. His product knowledge is superior to anyone I’ve spoken with, and he represents what it means to provide great customer service. We appreciate this shop and it’s professionalism, and we’ll definitely be back again.

I had been looking all over my local area for a bike part to no avail. I jumped on the internet to see if I could find the part I was looking for and found University Bicycles, which showed the part in stock. I gave them a call to be sure they had it, which they did. I told them I was located out of state and they were very honest in telling me they may not be able to ship it due to the ongoing parts shortage. After some checking on their end they confirmed they could ship the part. Once they confirmed that I could order I did so right away. University Bicycles went out of their way to help me out in getting my part. Special thanks Gabrielle who was super helpful and prompt with all communication. I would recommend this shop to anyone based on the service I received. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I really didnt want to leave this review. I planned a 4 day trip to Boulder (visiting from NC) and 2 of the days were for mountain biking. Staff was friendly when I booked over the phone and they got me set up with a Santa Cruz for a great price for 2 days. When I showed up on Thursday to pick up the bike is where things declined quickly. I was told that it had snowed a couple days ago and their bikes arent made for that weather and that they might get dirty. They didnt say anything about protecting the trails but that there is mud and their bikes dont do well in muddy conditions since there is a lot of red clay and what not. So they woul not let me rent the bike that day and to come back in 2 days. Im scratching my head because I thought I was renting a mountain bike... so I left empty handed. The next morning I went to another shop and they rented a Yeti ($7100 bike) brand new off the showroom floor and told me to get it as dirty as I want. You can see by the pictures I added the trails were perfect. I ended up riding with the bike tech from the shop I rented and it was one heck of a great time. I can not recommend University Bicycles. If you are able to rent from them they do have a nice selection but good luck getting one out their doors.

Turns out they didnt have my exact size for the frame, but they set me up for a test ride at the Specialized Experience Center in Boulder (talk to Wes -- good guy) where I found the right sized frame for me. From the moment I contacted University Bicycles about renting, the service I received was awesome. After giving them some vague thoughts about the kind of ride I’d like, they came up with what turned out to a perfect route, talking me through some easy to follow tips to avoid the busier roads. They went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the set up of the bike, and when I returned they seemed genuinely keen to know what I’d been up to, not an experience I’ve always had when I’ve rented. They even offered to make me a cup of tea, as I stood shivering but happy at the end of a great afternoon in Boulder County.

Things have changed here in the last year or two. Don’t bother taking an old bike for repair, they’ll reluctantly fix one if you bought it there but otherwise expect a sales pitch for a new bike or directions to a shop that will fix it in their place. Theres even a stack of references to other bike shops on the desk that they hand out to people asking for repairs on older models. After doing business for decades here, my family is leaving for good.

Pros: They did service my bike - replacing several components and upgrading to tubeless tires.Cons: I dealt with a revolving carousel of different mechanics, who were upselling different services and pushing my out-the-door price higher and higher.I was originally quoted for replacement components and tubeless tires.Mechanic #1: Gave the original quote and said up to 7 day turnaround, also tried to add bike cleaning.Mechanic #2: I called the shop after hearing nothing for a week and was told that the bike was sitting with half the repairs complete. They added an additional $40 for rim tape (which was not included in the original quote for tubeless tires?) and would get back to work on the bike that day.Mechanic #3: Called me and left a voice message the following morning, he recommended added repairs to the bottom bracket for a quote of $40.Mechanic #4: Answered the phone when I called the shop back, he now came up with a quote for $80 to repair and replace the bottom bracket.I have had previous dealings with University Bikes service that were very good. I dont know what changed, but I am disappointed in their customer communication and pricing transparency.

A great experience and top notch service.I spent a long weekend in Boulder, looking to do some casual outdoor activities. Not being a cyclist, I wasnt sure what to expect. The staff at University Bicycles helped me select the right bike given my interests and sized it for me (both patient and encouraging). They had every option from a town bike to carbon, road or trail. They provided me with all the basics (helmet/lock etc), a map of the trails, pointed out some that would suit me, and advised me which roads avoid. In addition to the excellent network of trails, I can also say that renting a bike is the best way to explore and navigate the town itself.

A complaint about the bike repairs: A decade ago I bought a Specialized bike at University Bicycles, and after a couple of years the gear shifting would stick. I brought it in for repair and they replaced the shifter cables. It barely helped and Id have to bring back again the following year, paying quite a bit for the multiple cable replacements.Looking online I recently saw that the Shimano shifters on the bike are known to get stuck, and they just needed to be cleaned out with a degreaser (WD40). (Note that the usual lube just loosens the grease temporarily, and doesnt fix it.) I degreased it and a few minutes later the shifter is as good as new.Did the University repair people not know that? Why did they repeatedly sell me cables which didnt fix the problem? It makes me wonder about the quality of the repair service there altogether.

I stopped by late on Friday to get a wheel replaced. I was in no hurry, but Brian offered to fix it for me on the spot nonetheless. The price was also extremely reasonable: Ubikes cost for the wheel + labor to replace the wheel was less than it would for me to get my own wheel and buy the necessary tools (not to mention the time itd take a knucklehead such as myself to do said repair.) Fantastic experience.

Ive purchased two bikes from University Bicycles and both times the experience has been wonderful. The staff has extensive knowledge on their products and the biking culture in Boulder without being pretentious. Im not a hardcore, advanced biker and nobody at the shop has ever made me feel dumb or like I didnt belong there (something Ive unfortunately experienced at other bike shops in the past). Theyre happy to take the time to explain anything to you, answer questions, and are really great at finding a bike that fits your exact needs. They have a great selection at the shop and are happy to order anything they dont have in stock. Great shop run by great people. I highly recommend!

The best customer service in town with a vast selection. They care and just let me in a few minutes after closing to buy fresh shoes that I wanted to ride with tomorrow. Thanks guys!

Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Actually had a bike fit done for about a hundred fifty bucks and it was completely worth it. I was more comfortable riding after the fit and dare I say a little bit faster.

Fantastic people, know exactly whats the problem just from descriptions alone. They even will negate charges for things that were defective or sub-par to their standard. Overall extraordinary bike shop and probably the pinnacle in Boulder. Tip: Make sure you have a general idea of whats wrong going in, you dont need to be some bike guru but it definitely helps to recognize the problem.
