Great shop, good coffee, cozy and open vibe. I got a latte and the espresso is strong and milk was perfect. This place is great for a casual meeting, date, or just some studying or work. I love there little conversation starter board. Very creative idea and just what this world needs, more friendly/non-social media means of connecting.
I brought my running team - Gotham City Runner’s - here as our “finish line” after our Saturday long run. Everyone loved it! The coffee and drinks were great and handcrafted with care (see photo) and the food was delicious. I opted for the blueberry scone and it was fantastic. The whole group of us (15 people) fit easily into the space and everyone got a seat! The one issue we had was gluten-free options were slim. Thanks Birch for an overall good time!
Birch Coffee is the best and this particular location has such good vibes. The staff is always super friendly and the energy is always buzzing. If you walk in and see a long line, have no fear! It always moves quickly. This Birch Coffee location is a popular place for people to sit and work on their laptops so seating can be tough to come by but be patient and make yourself at home. Heck, be bold and sit next to a stranger! I love this place and I’m confident you will too!
It is one of my favorite places, for their coffee and foods were delicious and OK. Besides, the waiters/waitresses working out there were very accommodating, professional, and kind. The ambiance in this shop was clean, comfortable, and stylish. I liked it a lot, and it was satisfying and worth it for me. As a satisfied customer, Ill promise to come back. Thank you!
Staff is chill. The place has fair number of seats for customers who are not in a rush. They recycle yogurt cups which is good for the environment. They also inspire customers to get to know others with cue card talking points. I will definitely be back.
Great little quality coffee place (though I did feel the coffee could have been a little stronger...feel like I need a second one). Still, if you like tasty coffee its a great option in this area. The fruit scones and chocolate cookies are really great and the staff are friendly.
This cafe was an accidental, but amazing find. I loved it!The staff were very friendly. The cold brew tasted amazing. And the ambience was very chill and cosy. There were even cards on the counter to signal if you would be happy to converse with strangers (Im not familiar with the NYC cafe scene, but I thought this was a brilliant idea!).I didnt like how there was no separate bin for plastics though..I visited twice: the first time, the cafe was pretty packed, but the second time, I had no trouble finding a seat.
Good coffee, good scones, great service, unpretentious staff, I really appreciate how Birch supports pit bulls!!!! Laid back, comfortable setting. Nice way to start my day for a long time now...
Best coffee around. Great staff. I was at a celebration recently. Love this place. Friendly. Convenient. Nice location. Cant wait to go back!!
A reasonable cup of coffee. I prefer a dark rich roast. They only brew medium but its tasty enough in a pinch
Some of the best coffee in the city. Very fresh And frothy just how I like my latte. Apparently the coffee is roasted daily over in Long Island city and it sure taste like it!Go here for an excellent latte! Also the staff is cool and the place is gorgeous inside with lots of room to sit, work or meet friends.
Pastry is okNo effort goes into welcoming customers even if everywhere it says that Birch Loves you...Coffee is average, could be better considering the priceAnd what’s the story with all of these people sitting down and having takeaway cups??!! It’s a disgrace and the cafe owners should encourage people bringing their own mugs or having cheaper coffees for whom sit down.Clearly these people aren’t bothered at all to be a bit more sustainable...
I enjoyed my visit to Birch Coffee @Flatiron. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. I thought the food was good.
Good coffee.. friendly service.. peaceful atmosphere.. Not much more you can ask for in a coffee spot. I recommend if youre in the area and in need of caffeine.
Come for the coffee. Great latte, super creamy and flavorful. Love the industrial decor and cozy ambiance as well. However, its definitely a bit loud (couldnt really chat unless I raised my voice) and no outlets.
This is definitely a must try place if youre in New York! I had a cappuccino, a cold brew, and one of their sandwiches! Seamless, accommodating and kind service! I will be back when visiting again!
This place has amazing coffee, even their house blend is delicious and the scones were really good as well. It is also very cozy and the staff is quilted for sly and helpful.
Done done done! This place has an amazing hipster vibe to it. The food and drinks are amazing! Cafe Affogato has got to be my favorite!
Love Birch. Great coffee beans at a very good price. Excellent espresso drinks. Adequate bakery and food menu. Wine and beer available in the evenings. Great staff.
Nice place with a lot of healthy options. Had a chai latte that was very good and just the right amount of sweetness
Theyre a pretty hip spot and the service is great. The staff I found to be real chill and welcoming and its really a great atmosphere here.
Good lattes and cappuccinos.Cold brew is nice, not sour or bitter. They have their own coffee-themed newspaper - with a crossword puzzle.Theres a decent amount of seating and a restroom.
These dudes rum a chill shop, and know their beans! To me, the coffee had more cocoa and nut tones, which is great and a smooth finish! What sold this place, for me, though, is the staff! They were superb and gave me recommendations for other places, to go get authentic NY food! Good job guys!
Cute little place. Very easy to find with good vibes and a nifty little reading corner. Adore the mini library in the back and wish I had one of my own.I was impressed with the size of my chai latte, but then frowned when my soup was half the size of my mug for tea. So if youre hungry, get the bowl not the cup, otherwise youll be disappointed. If youre looking for just a small chew on the side, then no worries, theres enough for a joyful taste.
Cozy place, cute decor. They are almost too cutesy with the quiz questions tip jars and the talk to people table cards. But the giant wood table in the middle and very nice window bar are really nice. Coffee was good.
Birch coffee is great, I only wish that it was a little larger so that it would be easier to find a seat, I think that the coffee is outstanding, it is very flavorful and delicious. The service is quick and when you can find a seat it is a good place to have a meeting and to chat. I highly recommend this place!!
With several locations around the city, Birch Coffee has a huge customer base for very good reason - between the quirky-yet-funny atmosphere of the staff, warm and inviting decor, and quality products, its hard to find a reason to not partake in their goods. Their espresso products are on point, and pair wonderfully with their selection of locally-prepared baked goods. My favorite combination would be the brown sugar cinnamon Magpie with a cortado, but you really cant go wrong here.Birch Coffees stores all share the same black, galvanized metal, and wood (presumably birch) decor, which invokes a feeling that youre in some sort of modern, stylish log cabin. The place feels lived-in but not dirty, busy and alive but not messy. Bare hanging, softly lit incandescent bulbs hang from the ceiling. Chalkboard paint-covered signs give amusing little quips, and daily trivia questions that spice up the notion of a tip jar a little bit. (The questions can vary from pop culture to deep philosophical choices to needlessly inflammatory X-or-Y choices. Its great.)If you happen to be in the area, this place is definitely worth the visit!
This is a lovely quite spacious restaurant. We popped in for a quick coffee and was surprised by the full range of foods on the menu.
Good cup of coffee, fast service if a little crowded as it is a small shop.
Great cafe with good pastries here. Space is cozy, so be prepared to be part of your neighbors conversations. The tea selection needs to be expanded here.
Im from Melbourne and we know and love our coffee there so when we come to the USA its hard to find good coffee.I was so excited when staying in NYC to find amazing coffee. I go every day and usually have two cups!!!Its as good as any great coffee back home and Im lucky its only a few doors down from my hotel
Good coffee & excellent service. Though I took my coffee to go, this is a great space. There was a lively chatter without being loud. Id definitely come back to get coffee and read a book.
The proprietor could not have been more accommodating when we were searching for a quiet place to sit, talk and catch up with old friends.
Solid coffee, beautiful shop and friendly folks. A great place to chat, meet a new person or do a little work. Only probably is that it is almost always super busy beyond the capacity of the place, making it a toss up if youd like to sit.
Came here after a stop at the nearby math museum. The coffee is good and the atmosphere warm and inviting. My only criticism is that while there is a long queue, the share table becomes surrounded with people making it a claustrophobic place to sit. Im not sure the space is available to address the issue, but I hope they keep it in mind if they decide to re-evaluate the layout in the future.
My go to place for coffee. Not too acidic. Cold brew is good. Service is exceptional. Id give it 5 stars but theres better coffee.to be found..
I love grabbing a coffee here. I sometimes take my meetings here because the space is great for it. Theres a lot of sitting and although it feels like there wont be any ready once your coffee is ready if people are constantly going in and out.
Love this spot. Their cold brew pour over neat is absolute heaven!
Birch tends to have long lines for good reason, the coffee here is excellent. The line goes pretty fast as well due to snappy service. The espresso is very tasty, not bitter but packs a nice punch. As an iced latte, it’s delicious and they don’t over do the ice like so many other places. The pastires they carry from nearby shops are also delicious, especially the huge donuts from dough, or the muffins.
Great place for coffee and pastries. Loved the atmosphere here. There is even an area that looks like a small library. Its a great place for meeting up with friends but I wouldnt recommend it for studying. I went there to work on homework but it was very noisy and also keep in mind that Birch Coffee is a wifi-free business. Otherwise, I highly recommend it!
Ok coffee. Nice atmosphere. Got there at 7:45 and no line, lots of tables.
Very good cortado. This place is always so crowded that I never had time to wait. So glad the timing worked out this time. And they take Apple Pay!
5 stars for the coffee...1 for hospitality and staff friendliness. Definitely perfect for take away. They dont even offer WIFI. Its 2018! Epic Fail!
The coffee was Great! But dude... the assface of the people working there is not normal. No smiles, no “thanks”, no “have a good one”... bad experience even the product is good.
Great place.Good service also great friendly staff.Small area to sit but nicely managed.Just loved this spot.
That Tokyo Drip cold brew was the best cold brew Ive ever had in my life. Staff was nice but usually crowded.
Only a quick stop, but very cute and calm, even for a decently popular spot early in the morning. Will definitely be a go-to when Im downtown near Madison.
Ordered an iced mocha with hemp and another with oat milk. As a strong hater of oat milk, I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was, so I recommend both milk alternatives.
Decent coffee collection, friendly staff, good and small area place to sit and work or meet and talk for 2-3 people groups.
A nice cosy place. Ordered chai latte and was very good.
Super friendly staff. Great coffee (particularly their cold brew). Though its worth noting that there is no free wifi available here.
Some say this is the best coffee in the city. I think they have really great coffee. I personally had a cappuccino, my drink of choice and loved it. But as an experience birch isnt really memorable. The baked goods are just okay and the seating area isnt all that great. I would suggest getting the coffee to go and walking to Madison square park and enjoying it there!
Always a delight to stay in a hotel right next to a great coffee shop. Great service from friendly guys, and a great cup of coffee - balanced roast with a rich flavor. NYC needs more of these places and less Starbucks!
Great spot for a quality coffee - well made expresso and very friendly service.
This place is great. A gem in Manhattan. The typical, quaint, independent coffee shop you would expect and with great service. The baristas are geniuses. I had the cappuccino at the shop. It was delicious and smooth, no sugar needed. The coffee art was a nice touch. I also had the yogurt and granola. It was fresh and hit the spot.A little pricey to be honest...but its Manhattan. Worth a trip if you want to get away from the Starbucks and relax with a serious cup of the good stuff.
Great coffee, friendly staff. Great city centre location.. check it out!
Coffee is great and food looks delicious (have not tried yet). The atmosphere is open and there is a library with customer contributed books. Customer service is great.WiFi is reliable but not free ($2.50 for 30 min - pay as you go). Limited electric outlets.
Best place to get a latte in this part of the city. I get the soy latte and its always creamy with just the right amount of coffee and soy milk in the mix. This place is always busy and a fun place to hang out. Staff is friendly and make for a great experience.
