Got to the door (store not open so just doing takeaway, which is fine), and the barista kinda of jumped away from me, almost in disgust, and pretty rudely asked me what I wanted. After not leaving a tip for a $6.5 takeaway mocha, he slams my coffee on the table and loudly says next time leave a tip. Are you serious?

I usually never review places, but as soon as we had this experience I had to stop whatever I was doing, sit down, and leave this review. Me and my friends are visiting Manhattan, and we are only college students. It is pretty cold outside today, so we wanted to stop by any place just to get something warm to drink. We were considering maybe going to Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts, but we saw this cute store and we thought maybe we should get something new. We dropped by the little window and a barista spoke to us and asked us our order, since there was no dine in. We gave him our orders of two small hot drinks, and then he asked us if we would like to tip. I then shook my head and said it’s OK, because the machine in which we have to tip was all the way by him. I honestly feel uncomfortable when the people handling my food can see how much I tip them. And I felt as if he was pressuring us to tip him. It was already awkward, and I was hoping no one would say anything. I am only visiting Manhattan, I don’t live here and I’m unfamiliar with the way things work around here. When he handed us our drinks, he then stopped and asked, “Just curious, but why didn’t you tip? I just wanted to know in case I can do anything different. Maybe I did something wrong.” But the way he said that was very hostile and made me and my friend very uncomfortable. We are two young women here alone and we did not think that not leaving a tip at a restaurant where we are not eating in at would cause any trouble. He made us very uncomfortable and honestly scared. We are so sorry to the barista for not tipping. But it made us feel very uncomfortable. I probably won’t be coming back here anytime soon.

Most of my friends are coffee lovers for it is our way to relax and calm our minds. Even if youre not a regular customer, the staff would accommodate you nicely and even assist your needs. This place is very nice because you could also order a dessert. They have different delicious desserts here. Dont worry its all worth paying for. Very tasty! Must try!

I was totally delighted, and thanks to this coffee shop and its staff for providing me a great coffee and some tasty pastries. This place is truly one of the best, and Im happy because everything that I needed was provided. Indeed, a go-to spot for coffee lovers! You guys must come and try their coffee now!

Excellent coffee and pastries! I had a latte and was a deep fresh coffee taste! The coffee is top notch! the coffee is not only delicious, but the atmosphere is inviting and cozy. The place is pretty small and missing some tables and chairs but for the most part its a great place to stop and have a coffee. I highly recommend this place!!

I really wanted to like this place but...Pros:- incredibly friendly staff- nice space- very close to the Canal. St ACE stationCons:- latte was quite bland, the espresso had little aroma nor flavor (perhaps a bad roasting of the beans?)- then waffle had a strange texture (too doughy)

Excellent espresso, if somewhat pricey (a shot of espresso is $4 😰). Try the one & one which is a shot of espresso split into two cups, one is left plain, and one has a bit of streamed milk added to make it a cortado - that way you get to experience it both ways and see what the milk adds... Fun! 🤩

The coffee was delicious, I drank a pour over from Burundi that was amazing. I also ordered a cortado that was so good. The staff was very kind. The only problem is that there was so little space for sitting.

Very nice coffee house.its modern decor is welcoming, and definitely a nice environment to come and deflate after a long day.Coffee is of high quality; I had a regular coffee, black, no sugar; the way a cup of coffee should be had and evaluated.The ambiance is quiet, music is definitely reminds me of being in a Seattle coffee shop. Its nice to see a place thats not so commercial, and therefore not attracting every kind of customers.Come, have a good cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy yourself.

Their coffee is the best ive had in the city! I got the flat white and the espresso was very aromatic. The quality of both the coffee and the execution are top-notch. The barista is super friendly and the vibe is chill and relaxing. I prefer it way better to some over-hyped coffee store like abraco.

Finally, completely satisfied with a meal!Had the tomato basil shrimp linguini tonight and it was delicious. Ive been leaving restaurants feeling underwhelmed lately but tonight I was literally happy while eating :) highly recommend this dish. Plus its such a quaint establishment. The cashier was also kind and helpful.

It looks so beautiful when you approach it, situated in a converted house, and an outdoor patio in the front. Once you enter, theres high ceilings with a beautiful chandelier and drapes hanging down, and a brick wall leading up to a loft area with comfy couches and tables. Its perfect for studying!

Had a pretty good Double shot and Aeropress. The Espresso war balanced, fruity and had a nice mouthfeel. The Aeropress was very intense and I could definitely find the promised tasting notes.The staff was not as welcoming as I had expected it to be. But all in all a good coffee experience.

A great cup of coffee - I usually get one for a take out, their espresso is really smooth and good. Very small space wouldn’t recommend it as a place to sit and stay for a while unless you’re alone. Would recommend for a great cup of coffee.

If you are coming over for an espresso then this is not the place for you. The cafe was bitter, too acid and over burn. I am a great lover of Italian style espresso full flavor, balanced and creamy. Could not drink my espresso. However they do lovely art with the cappuccino....if this is what you are looking for! Sorry not for me!

Cozy friendly little spot

Too small, almost no seating area. Tried the old-fashioned, amazing ... never had something like that. But the review I read about being a “cozy place where the barista creates a connection with to offer a coffee experience” is a lie. The 2 guys there were more concerned about each other and their chat. Worth the special coffee but not as a experience.

I will start by saying that I don’t drink coffee ☕️ but I appreciate and value the fact that those who know about coffee appreciate quality and always seeking perfection.

Nice little coffee shop, friendly and lively staff, good espresso (from what I over heard typically South American espresso and African coffee), offer sweeten or plain beverages (no flavors, I respect this), very little seating (approx. 15 places to sit most of which are suitable for at most 3), the window seats are prime people watching (busy intersection), there are no outlets available in sitting area.Summary, good in and out coffee shop with quality coffee with a smile.Only took a star off because it was not a place for extended occupancy. When it gets busy there is very little room and lots of business happening to the point where you might feel like you need to leave if you are just hanging out especially if a group more than four.

Great pastries, lovely staff, the hot chocolate wasnt for me personally. Cute little place.

I am always on the look out for a great latte and found one here. 5 stars for the coffee and goodies. I went a few times and noticed the service was friendly depending on the staff on shift - 3 stars for the lack of consistency with their service - wouldnt stop me from going back.

I popped into this little coffee bar the other day, totally unaware that I was about to have the BEST coffee of my life. Seriously, in my 40 years on this planet I have not had a better Americano. Not in San Francisco. Not in Seattle. But here in SOHO on my short visit to NYC. Thanks, Everyman, for contributing a great coffee to my cherished pile of awesome food memories.

Best latte I’ve ever had in my life. Went here randomly on the first day of a trip and we talked about it for the next four days!

Tried their First Flight which is a combination espresso and fruit-y drink. I cant describe it quite right, but Ill say that I want to have it again and try their other specialty house drinks like it now.Seating is minimal, but the ambiance is nice. Some benches out front, but youll be in the sun in the afternoon (great for fall, but right now its summer)

Strong and tasty. This is how I want my coffee to be like. At Everyman Espresso this is what I get. I order double, so I am ready with one to go when I leave. Coffee that you need to try.

Didnt really like how the barista took care of my order. And the taste of the coffee was bad. She didnt even worry to get me something else after I told her that it was not good... Just kept excusing the machine and the fact that she was closing the store in 30minutes. Hopefully in a next time I will have the right expresso. Down to give it a second chance.

Delicious coffee and, more importantly, friendly and welcoming staff. They seem to love their coffees, theyre happy to offer advice along with genuine smiles. Its a small place, but if youre walking by and you see an empty seat or two, definitely stop in.

Fantastic decaf cappuccino- surprisingly rich and flavorful. The baristas are serious about their craft. If possible, its worth getting drinks to stay to truly savor the coffee.

The coffee rotates, so some times you win, sometimes you dont. But the staff is polite and attentive. Every time Ive visited, it has been a pretty quiet and productive outing. Not much more you want from a cafe.

Everyman Espresso is on pretty much every list of great coffee in the city. After trying it, I can see why. The baristas are pros, they have the trophies to prove it. They were a little condescending about explaining their process, but clearly know their work well. The coffee here Is incredible whether iced or hot. Prices are high but you get good quality. There isnt seating inside, so plan on exploring the area with your beverage.

Wonderfully cozy place to have a cup of coffee. There isnt a lot of seating. I really like that this place doesnt offer disposable sugar packets.

My colleague suggested that I try this place for a late afternoon cup of coffee. Bloody heck, they didnt disappoint! I had a latte (but I should have gone with an espresso!) and it was awesome! I was surprised. I also picked up a donut, a maple flavoured one, that is apparently a local speciality... it was fresh, fluffy and tasted delicious. Full marks! I need to buy some of those beans to take home with me... .

Damn that’s some delicious (if pricey) coffee. Perfect temperature the whole way through. Nothing beats watching sparrows in Capsouto Park (1 block away) while drinking a yummy latte.

Located in a seemingly remote area just off of the Holland Tunnel, Everyman Espresso provides a consistently friendly and warm environment with high quality food and drink.The staff is knowledgeable and shows clear passion towards their craft in perfecting the perfect cup of coffee. The espresso drinks are made with care and served in glass tumblers, an unusual delivery of many classic drinks.If you have a little more time on your hands I highly recommend the Epiphany - using a mixture of several extracts, flavors and acids, the barista creates a truly unique flavor and textural experience that simply needs to be tried to be believed. Highly recommended.

While I think Everyman is a bit misleading for the title... The place offered interesting drinks. I was a bit put off by the aloof barista initially but, they were actually pretty nice. The Espresso old fashioned and the waffle were really good. The flash brew whatever was a little lacking. Overall, a cool place that wasnt overcrowded and seemed to know the regulars.

Simplicity is nice. Pop in, get some great coffee/espresso and move on with your day. Staff was wonderful.

Modest quality. The flavor density was not there! Shots tasted washed out and empty to me! Its espresso after all it should have something to say. Even the pigment was very light! I tried having a friendly conversation about roasting it turned into a lecture and snobbery. You can act cool all day long and Ill listen if you can hit even one big note in the flavor Spectrum. I wont be back!

Great location, great service, but awful, awful espresso. Salty, sour and too long. One of the worst I ever had. For a place named Whatever Espresso, definitely not a good deal. Guys, I sincerely appreciate the effort but, please: work on it a little bit more

Great coffee and kinda baristas. I got a pour over, and the barista helped me decide which specific bean to go with. My wife had a latte. In the future I think I’ll go with a cappuccino since their milk seemed to be high quality. We also had a waffle pastry and it was super good.

Sour and lukewarm, I had to fill the cup with sugar to take the second sip.This place would close within a week it they opened it in Italy.

Good incide & service, profesdional staff, but coffee with excess taste acidity. Espresso so acid. Some Italian blend will be better. I dont know way, but well balanced middle roast point arabica I meet in the North of Italy, in Netherlands and uptown Broadway

Best cappuccino that Ive had thus far. The seating is not substantial but thats perhaps not surprising in a city that doesnt really focus on sit-down venues. There wasnt a menu clearly displayed, so be prepared to order a simple drink or ask your baristas for a rundown.

Went for a coffee Saturday March 9th around 1pm. There was a gentleman already being helped at the register. There were two baristas, the male was helping the customer pay for his drink, and the female was in the process of making a drink. She had short straight blonde hair and glasses. She said Hi, and only hi, so I asked to clarify if I should order with her or at the register. She responded, Yeah thats why I said hi.Extremely rude response and made for an unpleasant experience. If I could re-do it I wouldve walked out. She was already making a drink, and there was a gentleman at the register, so I wasnt asking an unreasonable question and even if I was, service is so important when there are competing businesses steps away.

Had a single shot of espresso for $4 which is on the pricier side, even for NY, and it was by far the worst Ive ever had. It was sour, maybe citrusy too. It reminded me of awful cough medicine from when I was a kid.Im not sure of the type of bean used but I wish that there was information on what they use. I could understand if their speciality used certain beans but this isnt mentioned anywhere. The staff was very nice and they serve you a glass of sparkling water with your coffee.
