This is a great place. Ive been going here for years because they have a wonderful selection of vegetarian products. Now Im hearing Management wants to close down and move the store to Long Island. I certainly dont want that to happen. The products they carry are not readily available in NYC. It would be a travesty to see them close. The people that run the store are always so pleasant and knowledgeable. Please dont let this store close down ... PLEASE!!!

If you looking for religious books this is the best place to visit.I love this bookstore, I visit this store every time I have a chance, I cant wait to go back again, what book am getting this time I dont know, the employees answered every questions I had without any hesitation. You tell them what are you looking for, and they bring out everything you looking for. Job well done, when asked for recommendations.

Many fine memories throughout the years of this little bookstore in the heart of manhattan. Friendly staff, always ready to help, and if you were a regular theyd always chat with you and inquire about how you were doing. The book selection was very nice as well as the health food products they used to sell. I fondly remember making many trips into nyc on a weekday afternoon simply to decompress, look at the books, and take in the peaceful atmosphere. Many a time i would leave with a purchase as well and afterwards buy lunch or dinner at a nearby eatery and enjoy my food sitting on a bench in Bryant Park while reading the book i had just purchased. Unfortunately the ABC bookstore fell victim to our modern times. More and more people are leaving the printed page in favor of the screen. Ebooks are increasingly where our culture is going and apps like Kindle make it too easy to simply push on a button, buy a book and read - - all in less than 5 seconds and without ever having to leave home. When even as big a bookstore chain like Barnes and Noble had to close their flagship textbook store in downtown 5th ave, it should not come as a surprise that this little faith-based bookstore closed its doors after many decades in business. It will always be remembered as having faithfully served nyc for many years as a tiny beacon of light. The only ABC currently serving the entire nyc metro area(northern nj, 5 boros of nyc) is now the one in Manhasset, Long Island. Its a shame because that one is off the beaten path for a lot of folks.
