What a great book store!!!Hard to find these independent sellers with this much passion.

Three Lives has all the charm a bibliophile could want in a neighborhood bookstore. It’s book selection is limited because of size but still impressive. I find the staff to be knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve ordered books through Three Lives and they arrive quickly and in fine shape.

This friendly neighborhood book shop is what youd hope to find after hearing a friend mention a novel at brunch. Walking around the west village will bring one charming boutique after the next, and Three Lives certainly earns their place in this district. Owners are well read themselves and were able to strike up conversation about all manner of books in the store. Space is tight, but the layout and organization on the shelves was wonderful to browse through. Walked out with a staff recommendation and put a few more on my reading list.

A very cute neighborhood bookstore! Was very excited to get my Christmas gifts from a local shop and I loved how they gift wrapped for free!

Walked by on my way to another destination, but had to stop by on my way back. Friendly service, they made sure that the space was never over capacity, making me feel safe. It is a rather small store, but its cozy. They definitely have a great collection on books, also a good NYC collection. Definitely making my way back as I have another book in mind already!

This review is for their new curbside pickup process. Theres a link on the website now to a straight-forward google form where you can request a book. I filled it out over the weekend, looking for a copy of Dune. I got a cheerful phone call on Monday morning telling me that it was in stock and that I could pick it up as soon as half an hour from then. We confirmed my order, discussed price, and then they took my payment details over the phone. Quick and painless.When I swung by at lunchtime, all I had to do was step in the front door and give my name, and a staff member brought the book over for me. The brown paper wrapping with a custom sticker was a nice touch, as was the Three Lives & Co. bookmark they tucked inside the front cover. Im excited to have the store back! Definitely give the curbside pick-up a try if youre in the neighborhood.

A small bookstore but with a large offer of books in Greenwich Village. A friendly and ultra-competent staff. Forget Amazon and come in, you will find what you were looking for and what you were not even thinking about!

I live far away now and don‘t get to New York too often but when I do I always try to make it to to Three Lives & Co. I’m so relieved it’s making it through the pandemic. For a great selection, knowledgable staff, and cozy atmosphere, it was always dependable. Can‘t wait to get back there!

My favorite bookstore in the city!

I love Three Lives! I am in the area frequently so it has become a regular stop for me to pop in and treat myself— whether I actually purchase something or not, I consider it a treat. The staff is friendly and helpful and there is definitely a sense of community inside. From regulars to tourists, you can tell everyone feels intrigued and welcomed.It is very small and FULL of books so I always ask to leave my coffee at the counter and keep my gigantic backpacks to a minimum.Like I said the staff is helpful and communicative. They are happy to order a book for you if they don’t have it in stock.Support your local book store! Print is not dead!

This is one of my favorite stores in NYC and by far my favorite bookstore ever. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, they’re very much able to give you recommendations based on what’s popular these days, what you should read next based on books you liked, staff and all time favorites. All with a smile on their faces and not rushing you into any decision or pushing any purchase.

The ideal cozy bookstore you wish you could stay in all day. Buy all the books!

One of my favorite bookstores in the city. Excellent selection and staff recommendations. They also have a sale section on the left when you enter the store --from nonfiction to fiction, recent books are offered at bargain prices. Their philosophy and nonfiction selections are unmatched.

Very pleasant bookstore with a surprisingly large/diverse selection. I enjoyed the time spent inside but did find that the prices are a bit high - more than double the books’ Amazon prices. I still will be back because i enjoyed the atmosphere and experience.

This is quite a small bookshop which packs a punch for its size. There is a diverse selection of books here, but for such a small shop, I found the same title under different sections. Saying this, the staff were very friendly and my partner found a book which she hadnt expected to buy. I didnt, but thats not to say didnt have an enjoyable time looking. Worth checking out if you are in the area and want to support independent bookstores.

Great bookstore! Great selection of books and other book-related knickknacks. My friend and I wandered the store for a while and found a lot of great titles, including some unusual ones (I really appreciated that they had a section of books that were translate into English from foreign languages that the store recommended reading)! (Only con? They dont have a real bathroom, but theyll let you use the employee bathroom if you get the key from the check out counter.) Charming, well-stocked bookstore!

They have an incredible selection of books. I collect the old classics that I read growing up. I also collect antique books on Bible theology. They have numerous books on each of my interests. Very friendly and helpful staff. You should be able to find the books of you choice here. The reason for four instead of five stars is that they are pricey.

Funky independent neighborhood bookstore. Has a great selection of local history books. Large selections of new/recently published books. Good travel guide section. Friendly and knowledge staff. Good poetry and lesser known books as well.

Its not a large bookstore, but what it makes up for in size is its sheer volume of inventory and collections of all kinds of books, clearly labeled and neatly organized. The aisles are tight, but that never stops anyone from sifting through all their super affordable books.

One of the last of kind..so many Iconic village places are gone...I used to spend hours in these old books stores in the 90s..I love that this place still exist and that everyone is well informed and helpful.I prefer to spend my money here rather than Amazon.

Very cozy and cute local book store, having many interesting books introducing NY history and traveling. Maybe because of the space limit, not very many variety to look at. But in general, very lovely.

Great local bookstore yet they have almost all the books discussed on the New York Times book review. The atmosphere is wonderful and the place is almost always busy. Dont miss it if you are a book lover as no just want to browse.

The layout of the books feels rather eclectic which is great for discovering things you didnt necessarily expect to pick up. I walked out with a mini haul of books I cant wait to read!

Three Lives is my favorite NYC bookstore. The selection is beautifully curated; its nearly impossible to visit the shop without making some delicious literary discovery. So glad to see them thriving in todays complex environment!

One of the best Chinese lunch specials around. Great noodle soups. Amazing dumplings.

They are one of the smaller bookstores that actually has a decent selection of travel books. They have rough guides for the adventuresome people, as well as the typical Lonely Planet selection. A small corner shop, there are a lot of interesting hardcovers upon entering.

Three lives bookstore is a life source for me. Ill gladly pay retail any day to an old school mom and pop bookstore versus giving money to the job sucking gorilla on the block known as amazon. vote with your money. buy local, read local.

This is why bookstores should still exist - a community institution with carefully cyrated shelves of wonderful books. You can go in with no interest in buying a book and leave with 5 book that you cant wait to read. I try to support Three Lives as much as possible as itd be a terribly sad day if it ever disappeared.

Its a bookstore. Nothing really worth going out of your way for if you have a closer option. I cant speak for the selection as the book I went in for is pretty popular currently and local bookstore was sold out. So as an alternative, itll do. Still nothing to write home about.
