My child and I had a great time here. There are a few signed copies of popular books, which made them feel extra special. There is a promo where you can get a free book if you spend over $85 (small selection by the register). The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are also two restrooms.

Awesome! Price for alls, books for every age and every topic, from animals, love novels, princesses, sci-fi and more. They also sell nice drawings and posters.

Very clean with endless selections for kids books! My kid always has so much fun reading books here and finding new gems. In my opinion, this is a perfect place for kids to get interested in reading. Friendly staff is another plus. Great ambiance

This shop is amazing. So many different titles in a very organized space. The person who helped me, Anna, super professional and knows everything about books for kids. She gave me great recommendations, gave me space and time to decide, without being pushy.

I went Christmas shopping here for the kids. The last time I was here was several years ago. Its great that a place like this still exists. They had a great selection of books at different price points. We got some books on clearance and a signed book by Frank Miller for cover price. They do have a large selection of first editions and other collectible books and original art. Theres a big space in the back for kids to sit, and visiting guests, I suppose. The staff are helpful! I will say that while you could get books cheaper from Amazon, I enjoy real bookstores and am ok with paying more than I should. So there!

This is a magical little place! So many books and such a beautiful store! Its geared towards YA and younger, but it is an amazing place to take your kids. They have an incredible collection of historical books. Its so much fun! They also are really good at running author signings. Definitely will be going back.

A landmark store with shelves loaded not only with the greatest collection of childrens books in the city but also rare first editions, original artwork by some of the most distinguished illustrators who ever worked and free panels and book signings by the best in the business. If you have kids make time for a visit. You wont regret it!

Great little independent bookstore for kids/YA books. Huge selection, cozy layout, and knowledgeable staff make this a definite stop if youre looking for kids books. Theres also antique and collectible editions in the back, along with a gallery and a small event space where they do readings and other things.

A wonderful bookstore, full of books for toddlers, little children and the young at heart adults. And if there is too much choice, then the lovely staff will help you find the right reading.

Love love love this bookstore. Theyre def my go-to for Young Adult, Middle Grade, and other genres of books. Their author events/book signings are top calibur (and my faves) and its always a good time to visit, whether to purchase or browse. Their staff is so welcoming and eager to help in any way too. I spend an hour minimum each visit. 🤗📚

This is a great childrens book store with a lot of books and a wonderful rare book section. The most pleasant surprise about this book store is that scattered throughout the store are signed books buy some of my daughters favorite authors. the only true downside to the store was the condition of the store itself, it is obviously older and it looks like they are in the process trying to renovate. The bathrooms were tiny and dirty and there appeared to be a cafe of some kind at one time that was well past its prime and closed.

It is a joy to spend time in this very special Bookstore which brings back the wonder of being a child! It is possible to spend many hours of pleasure here. 🎄❄☃️🐧🦚🦄🌈🌹

If I dreamed up a bookstore for children, this would be it. The ambience is wonderful and the original illustrations from the Wizard of Oz series are amazing to just experience. My little girls never want to leave. But the childrens book selection is superior to any other store Ive seen. Its a city treasure I hope never goes away.

Books of Wonder is more than just a local treasure, or even a national treasure. It is a treasure for all of humanity, it is hope for the future, and it is proof that we as human beings are occasionally capable of doing good and recognizing what is beautiful and worth supporting in this world. Go and buy everything and take your books home and eat them one by one under a tree and get back to feeling the way you always wanted to feel.

Incredible book store for anyone who is either young or is shopping for a youth. In addition on the back wall some awesome artistic renderings are displayed and available for purchase. The staff is hands on, willing to take the time to work with and listen to even the youngest reader.

If you cant find a book here that a kid will love, it refrects badly on you and your attention to details about the kid. Great selection cant go wrong. Good for kids of all ages.

Books of Wonder is an amazing independent bookstore. The employees are all very helpful and kind. Their book selection is great and the have some of the best childrens book authors come on a regular basis.

What a classic neighborhood bookstore. Great for kids, helpful staff. They have regular events in the back, readings, authors presenting their work. Its worth coming here - its a totally different experience rather than click and ship. One day gems like this may be extinct...

I loved this old school kids book store. The young ladies there were very helpful and friendly. They have quite the selection of board books and I loved that I was able to find some in Spanish too (in the foreign language section). They also have a kids story time too.

Lovely small kids bookshop. They have a small section in the back for rare kids books. Nice selection to scroll through as the old carpet covered wooden floor creeks underneath you. Just adds to the manic of lifting out that perfect book. They were doing a story time when we stopped in. Nothing fancy, but do you need that with an imagination.

Framed art cover the walls with precious drawings from Illustrators. I can not even begin to describe the greatness in this store. The overwhelming feeling to be amongst the walls here.I was so lucky to meet and greet JERRY PINKNEY‘s from The Lion & the Mouse and The Tortoise & the Hare. An all time fave in my house.It gets even better at the back of the store: First editions of theWizard of Oz collection,Rare and Old books from Robin Hood,I stood in awe at the glass enclosed books of the Hobbit and more. Any collector would love this shop.People lined up to get autographed copies from the artists of the week.Children can come for story hour. There is even a small coffee/bake shop attached for a little snack time.Take a loved one here and connect with a book.Yes, I was inspired!I just fell into this bookstore passing by. I highly recommend it for good books.

This store has signed editions of books I want and a great selection of childrens books too. My two most recent experiences with this store have been great and the staff was helpful, patient and very nice. I will definitely come here in the future for any signed editions from some of my favorite authors.

A TREASURE. Probably the best childrens bookstore in the country. Also has AMAZING events. When an author or illustrator does a book tour they always stop here, and they therefore always have a huge selection of signed books. Has an amazing selection of rare books and prints as well.

I stopped in this store a couple of times and the reps acted like they did not want to help me. Im not sure why. I even used my teacher voice talking to my husband what I needed with the rep standing approximately 3 away from me with no other customers around. I may not look like their young wealthy Flatiron districts parents. I am a teacher looking for excellent literature for my students to be captivated and transported stimulating through the book and their imagination.

Amazon cant do this! I brought my twelve year old niece there, and it was absolutely amazing. Aside from the selection, the staff asked her questions about the kinds of books she liked, and some recent books that she had enjoyed. They then proceeded quickly around the store, pulling out one wonderful book after another. I was floored and flabbergasted by what came next; the staff knew how to tailor their book pitches to the audience that mattered most. My niece was wide-eyed with the possibility of so many incredible books by the time they talked her through the pile they had pulled together for her consideration. When my niece couldnt choose between the last two books, we bought her both. Major victory, wonderful shop.

It was a bit stinky I think its because of the bathroom and the construction. But the stuff told me that they are moving so I guess it will be better by next year with a new place.

Thank god for the hold-outs. This is a small book store that has a thorough collection of kids books, that were clearly chosen with care. Storytime on saturday is very sweet; you should go there and spend some money and make sure NYCs independent businesses stay open.

Every summer I stop in this shop when I visit New York. I tell the staff what my kids have been reading lately, and they send me home with a bag full of books that match my kids’ interests and reading levels—often signed copies. Couldn’t love this store more.

I only visited here quickly, was looking for one book in particular and the lady at the counter was helpful in finding it for me. I had bought the same book at a chain bookstore the week before and this copy was twice the price, but I guess you expect that at more of a boutique bookstore.
