Got bikes from Liberty this past weekend and my experience was great. Marianito was helpful and courteous. the bike was perfect and got to ride through the city. I accidentally bent the rim on the bike and he didnt give me a hard time. very cool dude. highly recommended shop.

Brought my bike in with a flat tire. Staff was friendly and changed the tube and tire. But, riding home, the wheel was completely loose. The valve was missing the stem nut and now, a month later, air is leaking from the valve. Just go to REI next time. Much more professional.

We are on vacation and the brakes on my bike were rubbing. We stopped into Liberty Bicycle without even calling ahead, and they could not have been more helpful or friendly! They fixed my brakes right away, while we waited. Took less than 10 minutes and they charged a very reasonable fee. So grateful to them for saving the day!!!

I brought my bike to this shop for a deluxe tune up and even had the tires and chain changed per mechanics advise. Upon picking-up the bike, I was told that there was something wrong with my bike and I need some parts changed and the whole thing will cost me additional $500. I initially agreed over the phone but after a few hours, I went to the shop and told the mechanic that I will take my bike first and get a second opinion. After this, SHAWN, the mechanic, got upset and acted unprofessional towards me in the presence of other customers. After bringing the bike to 2 different mechanics, I was told that there was nothing wrong with the bike and nothing needs to be changed. I then returned to the shop today, to buy a bike lock that I was quoted $75 the day prior but SHAWN told me he can’t offer me the same price and wants to charge me more because I didn’t agree to have the parts replaced. He was unprofessional towards me and I feel like he just wants to get more money from a customer like me who doesn’t know much about bikes. I wanted to personally reach out to the owner but SHAWN doesn’t want to give any contact. I’m a paying customer and I don’t deserve to be disrespected the way I was treated at this shop.RESPONSE TO THE OWNER:Your mechanic probably gave me a wrong name because I told him that I will file a complaint. I can show you my receipt if you’d like. The receipt shows that his name is SHAWN

I LOVE this place. I had gotten my bike tuned up in Boston when I was taking care of my mom during covid. It turns out they didn’t even tune it and left me with a worse bike than when I brought it in. Liberty Cycles adjusted my bike and were very transparent and honest. I will only be coming here from now on! Highly recommend this shop!

I went to have them change out my bike seat and add a kickstand. They were so fast and reasonably priced - couldn’t have been better

Came here for a day rental and was in and out within five minutes. I reserved on their website which is cheaper on weekdays than in-store. The employee behind the counter asked for me to sign a waiver, offered me a bottle of water, and checked the tires of the bike I was renting. He also adjusted the height of the seat for me. Believe helmet and bike lock are complimentary, but well see when I review my bill. So far great transaction and I would come again. Believe the rental was a Specialized bike.

Freddy (owner) is great, lively and always trying to make sure you have the best bike rental experience possible. They provide bottled water for every rental and the bike mechanics are also very proficient for any fixes you may need! highly recommended!

Never judge a book by its cover. This shop may look small and rough around the edges but their mechanics and staff are all top notch. My bikes have been repaired here over the past 25 years; never gave it much thought until recently.I bought a new european model electric assist bike and serviced it at a local high end shop thinking their service would be more tailored to these models. I was regrettably wrong. This four letter bike shop was just glitz and glamour ‐a place to fill your head through your eyes with all the gizmos and gadgets you can buy for your bike. The staff was rude, the mechanic broke s plastic cover and lied about it.In the end, Liberty Cycles is a gem of a bike shop. Fast, honest and professional grade. These guys are all the real deal.

Easiest renting experience ever. We reserved two bikes over the phone. We told them we would pick them up at 11 am May 4. The bikes were ready, we got a bit of a fitting and on our way in less than 10 minutes. We rented Specialized Hybrid bikes and they were in ready to ride condition. Great job and I would rent from them again.

Being new to the area, I found myself looking for a bike shop before leaving work because I saw that one of my tires had a flat. thanks to other peoples reviews, I chose this Liberty Cycles. The staff was friendly and since my problem was only a flat, the mechanic stopped what he was doing and changed my inner tube faster than I could take my wallet out to pay.Definitely will be my shop whenever Im downtown

Great service and friendly staff Patient people and willing to show you the ropes. Somehow I unhooked my bike chain, I came back to the shop and they fixed it immediately.

This place is good. I had a puncture in my inner tube a few blocks from here. Went in and they showed me that the puncture was on the bottom near the wheel. Fixed it by taping the wheel. New inner tube. Price was normal. Fast service. Good old school neighborhood bike shop. English and Spanish speaking. I saw them fixing a few other bikes. One electric. One road bike. All seemed good. Visible workspace so you can see what is going on with your bike.

Look no further for your bike rental needs. Great bunch of guys. Had a pedal break on a bike while we were out. They came to me in Central Park, made the repair and we finished the day. Upon return, they refunded 2 of the bikes at no charge. They have great equipment. They really care about the happiness of their customers. Will definitely rent from them again. Thanks Liberty...

Service was fantastic and the tandem bike we rented worked well. Easy to get to Central Park from there. Better prices then competitors, and they even provided some bottled water for our trek!

I’ve come here on multiple occasions for bike repairs and tune-ups and have only been met with the nicest people and dependably top quality service. These guys are very quick at diagnosing and fixing a problem and prices are very reasonable. On two separate occasions I went to bike shops closer to home for repairs only to find that problems had been dealt with incorrectly. Liberty was able to tell me what the actual problem was, what the last shop had done to try and solve the issue and then fix the bike on the spot. I’ll go directly to these guys next time. They are worth traveling to.

There are lots of bike rentals around NYC. They dont all live up to expectations. Liberty gave us great service and good quality bikes. The location is very convenient to the greenway along the Hudson River. The staff here will help you plan your route. We had a great time biking in NYC and highly recommend Liberty!

Cheap, great service, bikes were in great condition. Only negative is it is a little bit of a ride to get to the park, but for $6 an hour, well worth it. Will definitely come back again if I am looking to rent a bike.

Without making a reservation we just walked into the store. Within a few minutes we got rental bikes and and were on our way to Central Park. Very nice staff and good service level. The bikes were in good condition. A bit worn of course, but everything on them worked perfectly. The best part was when we got back after 4 hrs of biking they charged us for 2 hrs!! The already fairly priced service got very cheap. A little more than 20 bucks for 2 bikes in 4 hrs is hard to beat. Me and my wife are very happy customers and would happily return to this store again.

Don’t bother, bikes are reasonably priced, but this is because of their condition. Got asked if we wanted to hire bikes on way to Central Park, price sounded good so we went for it. Bikes were like a death trap. Spindle broken on my bike, brakes not working properly. Bike would have been more suitable for a circus clown. Would not use again, avoid if possible.

Ive been to many bike shops all around Manhattan and have never been treated as well as Im treated here. Hands-down the best service and best employees. Shout out to Freddy! You will always have my business.

Incredibly helpful! I had run out of air in my tire and thought I needed a new tire. They graciously just filled my tire up and checked to ensure all was ok before I headed back out. Highly recommend!

The focus of my trip was to bicycle around NYC.The folks that run this shop are good guys, very pleasant and knowledgeable, quickly took care of me every time I walked in the shop near Columbus Circle and could not have been helpful.I had to rent a good bike I could put some miles on riding over the GWB to New Jersey and back.I called ahead a couple times, they assured me they had a good machine for me, and they did.They listened to what I was saying, tuned and customized the bike for me, put on two new tires on the second day and tuned the wheels and brakes again.Charged me a fair rate for four total days of rental and had a lock for me.Next time Im in NYC I will rent from Liberty Bicycles.

Rented bikes for the day 2 adults and a kid, service was great and bikes in very good condition. We booked in advance the price was also real good. You have to shclep the bikes a couple blocks to get to Central Park but I thought it was worth it.

Best bike mechanics in New York

Had an non-fixable flat tire on my way to work. Called Liberty Bicycles as they were close by. They picked up the phone at once and confirmed they have the tube I need.I came in. They were extremely friendly - immediately sold me the tube I needed and put it on the wheel right there (and gave me a great discount).Would recommend them!

Prices are very cheap, $5 per hour on weekdays and $6 per hour on weekends. Bikes were in good condition; helmets were free, staff were friendly and even gave us free bottles of water. Also, great location near Central Park.

Awesome experience renting at liberty cycles .the gentleman who helped us with longer hair was very nice and so friendly. Sorry didnt catch his name . We rented bikes to take to Central Park and had no problem as it was close to the park .I would highly recommend.

Bikes were high quality and in in top-notch shape; great price for what you get. The place is very well located if youre planning to bike on the Hudson River Greenway or in Central Park.

This is my recommendation, if you want to do a bike tour trough the Central Park. The prices are insanely lower than anywhere else, and you get bikes that are in way better shape. You only need 5 minutes to reach the Central Park. The staff is very friendly and knows whats important on a bike (Frame Form, etc.). Very nice bike store!

I have rented bikes 2 times from here. For ~32$ you get a bike with a chain lock, front bucket and a helmet for a day.First time, I had a puncture and had to pay 20$ in another bike shop for the fix which they refunded me when I returned the bike. Just be sure to get a (free) map from them which has listed all of the bike shops in New York area where you can go to have the bike fixed.I would go there every time I need a bike!

Rented bikes for a day while visiting NYC. Its a great way to see the city and not have you feet hurting by the end of the day. The staff were very friendly and the prices were affordable. They have weekday (mon-fri) discounts off of their bike rentals.

Pretty decent bike shop, though their inventory is typically pretty small and a little pricey. Overall, the staff is really knowledgable, but they dont always love taking the time to explain things. They have fixed various things on my bike (brakes, tired, alignment) and its always been fine, but Ive never been 100% wowed by the shop.

Wasnt pushed to buy any thing. Helped find what I needed and presented options. Just a great hardware store.

One of the better bike shops in the city. They focus on repairs rather than try to sell you expensive crap every time you go in. The mechanics there are incredibly competent, even on older vintage bikes. Ive had a number of repairs done there and never an issue.

Brought in my unicycle to get a flat tire fixed. They patched it up, the first time I rode it went flat again, so I brought it back in they told me they would order a replacement. A week later I called and was told they cant find the tire (I found it myself in 5 minutes online). Then they told me they actually dont do that kind of work and that they only patched it up as a favor...a favor I was ofcourse charged for. So Im now left with a still broken product after wasting a week waiting for them to do nothing.

It was dumb hot outside and they offered free water from their cooler. Prompt and friendly service. Would highly recommend.

The guy is very kind. He repaired for me twice and each i paid 50% less of the price i respected. The first time i spoke to him was when he approached me to give me 2$ for free. And they give free bottle of water there also.

I have been biking to work for 6 months and got my first flat tire this morning. These guys fixed me up right away and got me back rolling! They were very nice and reasonably priced, especially for a rush job.

This is the place to rent bikes if youre visiting NYC! What customer service!! A+++ Bike rental is $6 per hour, compared to $15 for most everyone else. There only 2 blocks from Central Park. I even got the brand Specialized like I use back home. Make sure you check this place out!

My rides tubes needed changing. Brought it in the AM before the rush. After initial reluctance, they took care of it while i waited. A bit on the hight side for costs, but it is midtown. Dont get freaked out by the snake and cobra in a jar on the counter!

Small local-nabe type place that was a couple blocks away when I got a flat riding down Columbus Avenue (thank you Google Maps). I rolled it in and they had me out of there in 10 minutes for $15. My bike is a 41 year old Raleigh Superbe 3 speed hub - no sweat for these guys. Thanks Gene & Martin!

This is my go to place for a bike rental near Central Park. Reasonable prices and a super friendly staff.

I was a regular till today. I had asked for a price quote for installing two levers a week prior to walking in; in person with my bike so they can take a look. When the part arrived I walked in and told them I was ready.... But just to make sure I asked AGAIN, this time the mechanic looked up for two minutes as if asking god for guidance then suddenly the price doubled.... When I questioned him and remainded him of my prior visits he said, if you dont like it go somewhere else....I am not a bike expert but if I missed something it would have been nice to be told WHAT TF caused the price hike.If you have no choice or need to by accessories I recommend this place as a last resort since they are reasonably priced for those things. As for maintenance and repair like they said GO SOMEWHER ELSE

After several weeks rolling with a new bike I went with a spike tire. They repaired it. But within minutes of going out again he spied again. They claimed that the tire is useless. Amazing. Then it was noted that there was no second hole in the tire. But they never recognized anything else. My tire simply doesnt work. I find it incredible to believe that no matter how bad a tire is, it is quite a coincidence that I run into two glasses (as they indicated) twice at the same time after weeks of being well. I had to necessarily buy a new tire. The first time I went, it was for them to put a basket to transport the pizza. But she was inclined, which shows lack of experience for these things. In another workshop they quickly realized that detail and fixed it. They told me that leaving the basket like this is a basic beginners mistake. Given all this, I never go to this site again.
