Not a review writer, but have to say such nice people for a bike shop. Very friendly, easy to talk to and very HONEST, which is hard to find in a bike store. Plus, found that the prices were way cheaper than anywhere else in the city, PLEASE, listen to this and if you need any repair go to these guys!

This is a terrific place. One of the best bike shops in Manhattan. Super nice owners who do repairs quickly and economically. My bike was swiped while I was giving a tour of Central Park. I walked over late Saturday afternoon and they were able to get a new bike ready for me the very next day. Call me loyal and pleased!

My partner and I bought bikes here a month ago. The owners were incredibly helpful and made sure we walked away with exactly what was reasonable for us. This was the first bike purchase for both of us and they really went above and beyond to figure out what we needed and get us the best product in our price range.Since then, theyve been incredibly helpful performing maintenance and even teaching us how to maintain our bikes ourselves. This shop really goes above and beyond.

Biking to work again and of course I get a flat! the good people of Kickstand put my bike up in the stand right away, found that piece of glass, installed the new tube and sent me on my way in almost no time!

Really great service! And open on Sundays, and had the Olympics on TV. I bought a bottle cage at a very reasonable price and they pumped my types and tightened my lock holder for free.

I stopped by to fix my flat tyre. Although it was almost closing time, they were very kind and nice. The mechanic/owner asked me to walk in to the store to show me what was the real problem and how he was fixing it. Kind of service that I never experienced from other bike shops in NYC/BK. Price was very reasonable. I would definitely go back when I have trouble or need to buy anything.

Ben is the kind of person who actually loves what he does. You can feel his passion for bicycles when he answers your questions and the ease with which he explains things. This is easily the best bike shop in NYC (and I’ve been to a couple in Queens and the UES/UWS). Picked up my bike and it felt brand new! Fair prices! Excellent customer service and professionalism. I was lucky enough to get a flat within a block from this shop because I would not have discovered it otherwise. What a wonderful vibe here! Had that true NYC neighborhood, mom & pop feel — the owners knew EVERYONE who walked down the block. Very kind and friendly. They fixed me up really quickly and the repair was super reasonably priced — they also helped me out with a small detail on something free of charge. Theres a bike shop two blocks away from my apt but Id rather travel 20 blocks to give my business here instead!

Love this place they are always helpful and accommodating! I have a little 20 Haro BMX bike Mirra s351 its my pride and joy. They were super quick to give me a diagnosis on the bike and just as quick to fix it. As long as I live in Manhattan this is my go to.

I blew out a tire on my Citizen Miami folding bike about a block from this place a few weeks ago. I showed them my tire and they gave me options on a couple different tires at different price points. They were nice and knowledgeable. Explained to me why one was ten more dollars over the other. Fixed me up really quickly. Price is normal for the city for a tire, inner tube and labor. I blew out my other tire across town today and had it fixed at a different place for a similar price with a similar tire.Its a good neighborhood store. I saw them working on some other bikes. Lots of locals seem to stop in.Some people brought back some rental bikes with smiles on their faces.

We went to this place for emergency service (flat tire) during COVID-19. I passed this place so many times but did not have a chance to do any business. What a surprise ! Amazing, personal service! I walked in just to see if they had something for me after searching the city and online for 3 weeks. They had the bike type, size, color, and price point I was looking for! I also bought a couple of accessories and they assembled them for me. The best bike shop in NYC. Ben and Andrea are honest and straightforward and charge very reasonable rates for labor and parts. They dont sell you anything you dont need and they lay out clear options to get you back on the road quickly. Honest and very easy to do business with. I wont go anywhere else in New York.

Best bike shop Ive been to in NYC! They have good prices and the owners are friendly and helpful. I stopped by to buy some things to fix a flat. While I changed my tube outside the store they let me borrow air, gave me some tips to improve my tube-changing technique, and even adjusted my tire to better fit it on the rim. Will be coming back for sure

Very good bike shop! Pretty quick service! Brought my bike in thinking I had a broken axle, but hub was bad. Have to get a wheel! Loving the new wheel! I have not seen a wheel this true for a long time. This shop is way out of my way, but I will definitely make sure to come back if I need any maintenance and parts. Great service as well.Update! Brought my bike back for full maintenance in late January, because it havent have one for about a year and the shifting was very sticky. Another fantastic service visit at this shop. I was looking to buy a bicycle, there was a gentleman and a lady inside. I asked them if they have a bicycle that I can buy. They said they have one but it might not be the right size for me. I saw the bicycle and compared to other stores ive been, considering there is a shortage of bicycles around the world because of COVID. The price they gave was way better than anywhere in NYS.Their customer service is superb!!!!

Super swift and frictionless service. Decent prices for nyc standards. Of the three places I called, this place had the best quote for a tune up. They did a good job, replacing parts when needed and making my bike feel like new.

I went in today, because I left my bike lock key in PA, so I went to rent a lock, and get some air in my tires. Turns out I had broken the air valve thingie on my tire without realizing, so I needed a new tube. The owner (I didn’t catch his name, so I’ll call him Mr Kickstand) was so friendly, informative, helpful, and fast. Definitely a worthwhile stop if you have bike needs in the midtown area. Small, local and honest shop. Seriously just one of the best bike shop experiences Ive ever had. Derailleur hanger was severely damaged. Mechanic, Ben, threw it up on the stand and fixed it thoroughly and quickly. Very generous in pricing. Paid way less than what I thought it would cost. Bike is performing better than it has in years.

The people that run it were so accommodating, taking on an emergency repair even though it was just past closing time. The repairman did an awesome job finding an appropriate fit for a new crank arm for my older-model bike, and even fixed the shifters without my asking (theyre awful and its annoying me, he said.) After I left, my bike rode like it had just gotten a full tune-up, even though I went there for an emergency repair.Family-owned, reasonable prices, awesome service. Great, great place. Do not hesitate to go there.

Walked into the store with no intension of buying a bike. Fell in love with a Masi Evoluzione. Ben and Andrea are awesome. They reallly care about your experience on your bike. Undestandably, they initially suggeted I try a less agressive road bike given my size and weight. Now after my 3rd century, I am happy that this is the only advice I did not take from them. Their customer service is great. I highly reccomend them.

Whenever you enter this business you can tell how much they care. The owner is there providing you with his life long expertise in bicycles. They know their stuff! I went in to have my peloton seat replaced with a softer more cushioned seat and not only did they sell me a new seat, but they voluntarily took the time to show me how to mount it so that when I got home I wouldn’t be frustrated. They work hard, price fairly, and I live close by and see customers always leaving the store happy.

These guys are awesome. I had a problem with my vintage bike and they fixed the problem on the spot at a very reasonable price. I would recommend this place for repairs and would definitely trust them with a new purchase. They also rent bikes which all looked to be in very nice condition.

I have worked in customer service jobs for about 17 years and I am constantly astounded by how thorough and friendly this shop is. Ben and Andrea run a clean-cut, honest business and take care of their customers with poise and class (no matter what level of cyclist you are). Ben is an absolute GURU when it comes to bike repair / advice and Andrea keeps the shop well stocked and organized so repairs / merchandise are easy to order. They stock bikes for entry level and experienced riders, across all budgets. I plan to be a customer for life... this place feels like family! Ride or die!

Decent service nothing special.

I had a blowout that tore through my tire. They immediately replace both the innertube and tire, checked and adjusted my brake alignment, trued a few spokes on the affected wheel and oiled my chain. He was very kind (even though I definitely showed my ignorance when it came to bike care) and talked me through ways to avoid this in the future. I will definitely find a way to have another bike issue in this neighborhood!

The guy is so disrespectful to people. I just have an issue with my card under my control. He started involving in my financial situation. If I can make it in NYC or not is none of your business. You should not tell me that. I’ve been waiting in front of the store an hour for you guys to open and I was the first costumer to be there. That’s not just the best way to treat a costumer who goes to your store every time I need to fix my bike. Just change your attitude to costumer.Rude!

I go to this bike shop now and again and they are terrific. If you have a problem Ben or Andrea will stop to talk to you and see if they can help you immediately. Multiple times I have had a problem where he stops fixed a small glitch on bike at no cost and sent me on my merry way. I visited nine bike stores across Manhattan and Brooklyn in search of bikes for my wife and me. It was our first time bike shopping, and neither of us were very knowledgeable regarding the landscape of different options. Ben and Andrea were a godsend. By far the best bike store in New York City, with a homey feel. They were helpful and honest and gave us genuine advice; they werent trying to sell us anything. We went there twice before we settled on a bike, and throughout the entire experience, I felt like I was buying bikes from friends. They also had a unique selection of bikes that included models well-suited for petite frames that they source from Asia (ask for the mini velo, which works well for a variety of builds). I highly recommend this store to anyone interested in buying a bike.

Kickstand is the best bicycle shop I have found in New York, and Ive lived (and biked) here since 1994. Ben and his wife are amazingly nice and knowledgable, and do great work. Yes, the store is tiny, but they still carry all of the essentials, and the prices are incredibly reasonable (especially for Manhattan!). I cannot recommend this shop highly enough.

Went in for a simple flat repair. Got excellent service and a very enjoyable interaction with Ben with tips/tricks on how to replace an inner tube like a pro. This place is legit.

I had been to several shops complaining about a reoccurring rear flat, but they simply just replaced the tube. When I went to Kickstand I brought the issue up Ben was able to source the issue, a small piece of glass, replace the tube and since then Ive been flat free. Their attention to detail and customer service is unmatched, Ill definitely be returning for future needs.

It has been years since I was on a street bike, and I felt a little silly asking so many questions about fitting a helmet, rules of NYC traffic, etc. But Andrea answered all of my questions and laughed at my stupid jokes. More importantly, I got a helmet I love and rented a high-quality bike that was well-maintained--all for a very reasonable price. When Im ready to buy my bike, I know where to go. In the meantime, I will also return for the occasional rental.

The day after Hurricane Sandy hit, I rode my bike into downtown Manhattan to check for damage at my parents unoccupied apartment. On my way back uptown, I rode over broken glass and my tire popped. Being that the subways were closed and cabs were impossible to get, I was going to have to make the 50 block walk, back up-town, in the rain. Luckily, Kickstand Bicycles was one of the few shops open for business. The store owner fixed my tire in a snap and sent me on my way within a few minutes. Everyone there seemed super nice.

Great people and very knowledgable. They are not condescending in the slightest and meet you where you are based on experience level. That can be a rarity with bike shops. Ill be back.

The place wont even bother helping you if u have an electric bike and all i wanted was my break pads changed i felt as if it was more race geared than anything im pretty sure if i were a white man they wouldve helped. What a shame this is tge world we live in i guess. SMH.

I am in absolute awe of this small but very professional family run bicycle shop and repair. I had some serious concerns regarding my bike, but were mostly squashed because they were actually minor as was advised by one of the owners. I could have easily spent a fortune in what I thought was major concerns, but in the end, I did not. The prices are extremely good and you wont find less in most parts of the city. I am extremely happy and will definitely tell my family, friends and colleagues about this hidden treasure located on 49th Street between 1st and 2nd Ave. Thank you Ben and Andrea!
