This is my go-to bike shop in lower manhattan. ive only experienced excellence here. they give a clear analysis of the bikes problem, an accurate time estimate of how long to leave it for repair and when to return,, efficient, complete service and a reasonable affordable price tag. busy bees the best!
Fast and good quality gear allignment for $17, took 20 min. I recommend
These guys are straight up THEIVES. Pedal fell off my bike. Paid to have my axle replaced, but they just bolted the pedal back on. When it fell off twenty minutes later they wouldnt refund the $100 I spent.
Saw the bad reviews, thought to myself how bad could this place be. Well, it’s bad. Unhelpful, rude, never going back.
Don’t go there looking for them to fix a flat or blown tube when they’re at the end of the day. I was there 30 minutes before closing and the owner refused me service. His prerogative but riders should be aware! ✌️
They have great well name brands such as abus, kriptonite and sunlite bike locks. Prices are very reasonable.
These guys are very friendly and helpful. Real neighborhood vibe. Recommended.
Great service, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. A+ service
Speedy Service and One of the best Bike Shops in the New York; I was at Busy Bee about two weeks ago and one of the mechanics Luke got me back on my bike within minutes. He took care of my flat and informed me to get a new tire because my old one was quite worn. I replaced the tire and I haven’t caught a flat yet. Thanks Busy Bee.
Avoid this bike shop. 1). They will keep your bike for hours and not fix it. I left my bike for 8 hours to fix an issue with my bottom bracket and was told twice by the mechanic that he had to “test ride” it to figure out the issue. When I arrived an hour before closing after dropping it off right when it opened, he said to “bring it in tomorrow”. 2). If you’re looking for people who are thinking of your better interest, this is not the place. Wanted rim tape as my rims are new and came with the cheap manufacturing tape. The mechanic suggested I wait till I get a flat to replace the inner tape. What sense does that make? Oh he also suggested not to ride my bike in the rain. What...?
Never experienced less welcoming customer service at a bike shop.
This Shop has come a very long way, In fact, This shop has done a major 360 compared to the guys who used to run this shop. The guys who are running this shop now definitely know what they are doing when it comes to repairs and service. These guys carry high end components at affordable prices, and If they do not have it, They can get it in 2 days. I got a Philwood hub laced to H plus Son rim and had it built in 2 days at an affordable price. When it comes to quality work I wouldnt go elsewhere. Ive been to plenty of shops in the neighborhood that have tried to rip me off, and one thing that keeps me coming back to Busy Bee their honesty and quality.
They scammed my sister she brought her bike in because her tire was flat. They then proceeded to tell her she needed to get a tube change so she paid for it and left. Days later she returned and her tire was flat again. They told her she needed a new tube change so she paid another 25 dollars. Again days later its flat so She decided to Try a new bike shop. Once there they explained to her that glass was in her tire. She paid a total of 80 dollars for a new tire. The whole time BUSY BEE BIKES was aware of the real problem but took advantage of her so they could get more money out of her.
Really friendly, great service and job!
Good job. Poor service.
Happy with this shop. $15 to change a back flat. Normal price considering Manhatten is expensive regarding flats.Little upset. I got a tire patch too for $3. Total was $18 they said but I got charged $19.35. When the deli says something is $18 its $18. At Mom and pop shops this is how its supposed tone in NYC. Kinda feel like they got on me. So many bike shops in NYC you just cant trust. Shady.I should leave feeing like I want to come back not that I want to find a better store.
These guys are great. NYC experience. Good prices and good services
These guys are a bit pricey, but theyve always done repairs well. They got me a new back wheel for my vintage Raleigh & its perfect (when other shops said it couldnt be done) And the truth is I checked the wheel on the internet and they were not ripping me off. Is it perfect? No, but Ive yet to find a perfect bike shop in nyc, and Ive been riding for almost 15 years here.
Walked in and there was not a single costumer at the store but only two employees engaged (on sitting way back behind counter and the other reparinng an inner tube) engaged conversation so deeply that neither of them acknowledged me until after I was standing silently at the counter for a bit.I asked a question about a part for the bike I had with me and then asked to borrow a wrench to take out (myself) the front wheel. The guy from behind the counter, looking at a board with different service prices responded with thats going to be at least $5 which surprised me, as he walked toward the vack... Given I was in a rush, but had no cash, I asked whether I could pay with card but no, theres also a minimum for that. Ok, thanks, I left.As I walkes out, I recalled at least half a dozen bike shops across the city over the last 22 years to ask for a tool or a pump to solve an issue myself and how never once I had been asked for $$$ but instead was greated with with a supportive hand and/or disposition. While in many occasions it may have the shops where I did bring and payed for my bikes service and repairs. In equally as many others this happened in completely random locations I have only been to once (and would happily recommend and go back to) unlike busy bees today.
Very knowledgeable staff; best in the city!!!
About 3 months after my bike was stolen on 2nd Ave imagine my surprise when I came across it for sale here! The clerk didnt even put up an argument and gave it straight back to me but it seems pretty clear that these guys are involved in some dirty business.Buyer beware!
Super nice, aforable, and explained what was broken.
My friend stopped by and told them I was looking for a bike and every store Ive been to had lousy customer service. The owner (Joe) told my friend to send me here and he would take care of me. I dont know if Joe was there when I showed up (Tuesday morning) but the guy on the phone talking about the economy and Groupon did not acknowledge me in any way, and after ten minutes of being ignored, I left. I was planning to buy a bike that morning, in the $300 to $500 range, but I guess they dont need the money or the business. In their defense, I have found most bike stores in Manhattan suck when it comes to customer service. I guess they have a built in market and dont need to care.
Just needed to borrow one tool for literally a minute, the mechanic was very helpful and even though I knew what I was doing, talked me through it to make sure. Didnt charge me anything for his time or tool use.
Awful people, awful experience. Every time I go in there I come outside upset or shocked. I tried to give this shop three or four chances to prove my bad opinion wrong and they always made it worse. Just bad people.
Prices are reasonable considering Manhattan is pretty expensive.
This has to be the most unhelpful and weirdly snobbish bike shop Ive ever been to.
This shop buys & resells stolen bicycles.Enough said!
Wonderful, very friendly and affordable
Never come back again
Scooters and fold away bikes only - very limited
Love this place
Very good service and excellent work.
