Gringer and Sons is TERRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I learned the hard way. If I could give 0 stars I would. USE ANYONE ELSE. PC RICHARD, DESIGNER APPLIANCES... At every step, Gringer has been unprofessional. Doing business with them is like lighting money on fire.
I called at 9am and still have not received a call back. Its now 6:34pm
Sales person very nice, BUT do not have them deliver any merchandise to your house. They had 1 man deliver my new range and remove the other. He scratched my wood floor and took no responsibility for it. The guy actually ran out of my house and my wife chased him to give him a tip before noticing scratch. Complained to owner, Louis, and it went nowhere. No reduction in price, no score credit; no offer to try to make things right. Have nice new range with glaring scratch in front of it. Who sends 1 guy to deliver and remove a large appliance. No mats put down on floor. Incompetence!
I needed a wall oven to replace a model and size that are no longer available. Gringer staff was very helpful. Found a model in stock with the right specs and the installers were great. Highly recommend Gringer and Sons!
My wife and I live between Park and Madison in the 70s on the upper east side in a designed apartment with a small kitchen. We were nervous about replacing our microwave and gas range because great care would be required to install the new appliances precisely in the existing cut-out spaces in our custom-built kitchen; and damage could easily be done. I spent a lot of time shopping appliance retailers with my contractor, and Gringer (103 years in business!) killed the competition. I purchased a beautiful stainless steel 30-inch Verona gas range and an over-the-range GE microwave. Jean, our salesperson at Gringer, was courteous, thorough, and expertly informed. I peppered her with questions during and after the sale and she was beyond terrific. New laws require plumbers to disconnect and reconnect gas lines prior to removal of old gas ranges and installation of new gas ranges. So, we had a parade of (1) the plumber disconnecting the gas line (2) the Gringer delivery of the gas range and microwave (3) the plumber re-connecting the gas line, and (4) the Gringer installer, installing the gas range and microwave. Everything was done with extreme care, courtesy and perfection (during COVID-19), where other companies might have done a slap-dash job that could have easily caused damage or complications. So, there are not enough stars here on Google to express my delight with Gringer, their delivery people, their installation people and Jean!!! Thank you Gringer!!!
Very helpful staff.
While I was unable to purchase anything from Gringers & Sons, I want to highlight the amazing service that I received from John and Vladimir, the sales person and installer.I wanted to switch out my existing cooktop for a 36 oven but, unfortunately, the measurements just didnt work for me. John and Vladimir went above and beyond trying to find a solution that I would be happy with. This level of service is rarely found in New York City these days. Are they the cheapest? Probably not, but there is no question that when Im in a position to completely renovate my kitchen, I know where Ill be buying the appliances.Forget buying online, Home Depot or Lowes! Gringers & Sons is the only place in Manhattan that Ill trust with my best interests, not just making a sale.Great job!
Absolutely the best appliance store and staff in NYC. From the professionals in the sales department, right through to delivery and installation, every question is answered and any problem is handled in a timely manner. Excellent service!
No nonsense, no hard sell, totally reliable.
I have used Gringer and sons twice and highly recommend them. I have only dealt with Lewis. He is very responsive and has given great suggestions. They showed up on time both times and have matched prices prices on individual appliances. After the countertop installer broke the door of my range, he helped to order a new one even though he did not need to be involved at all. Great customer service and great prices!
Great Selection of brand names and very reasonable prices.Wonderful staff. My delivery was on time and the men were very courteous. Highly recommend shopping local and at Gringer & Sons.
I needed a washer/dryer pretty quick. I came here because it is close by. Honestly, the bad reviews didnt give me high hopes, but I was met with Matt Karabaic, and he was very clear and concise about what my options were for the space I had available. Matt wasnt pushy and was very patient with my questions. He even printed out information on the three different sets of washer/dryers I was considering and gave me the estimated cost/delivery breakdown for everything. I took his card and compared options.I called many places, compared prices and delivery times, and in the end, there wasnt any difference with Gringer, but I liked their style. I called Matt and he gave me a quote at no extra charge. There were no surprises on it.The particular washer/dryer we wanted required a new 4-prong 220V outlet installed, and Matt had an electrician available immediately: an experienced man named George. George was also patient, and answered all my questions. He even stayed a little longer to give me troubleshooting advice. If it werent for my questions, he would have been in and out in 20 min.Delivery and installation would have to be done on different days, and even though we were teeming with dirty laundry, the washer/dryer was worth it. He was able to deliver on time and install earlier than we thought. The best part, though, was that Matt kept in constant communication with me to let me know when to expect delivery, and installation.
Excellent people
I needed four appliances for a kitchen renovation and selected Gringer because it was listed on the Subzero website as an authorized dealer. I walked in and was greeted by the salesman (John Batista) and shown several appliances of different brands, including Subzero. There was no pressure and he sent me a quote by email a couple of days later. The pricing was competitive with local dealers. Getting answers to my questions and setting up delivery and installation was effortless. John even told me I was eligible for a rebate from Subzero for being a repeat customer. Finally, when I noticed that the Subzero freezer had a shelf that was slightly warped, he immediately arranged with the company to send me a replacement. I could not be more satisfied with this experience.
Weve had a horrible experience buying online with Gringer & Sons. Its been 3 weeks since we placed the order and our card was charged. But we havent heard a word from Gringer about delivery. Ive called the store and office probably 10 times in an effort to get some and have had no luck.
They delivered a damaged dishwasher, took the damaged dishwasher away and have not given me a replacement dishwasher for 1 month. They have promised to deliver every week and are stringing me along... Today I had the plumber waiting to install the dishwasher and nothing. They also dont return calls and just ignore my husbands attempts to get a date.Disrespectful service. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Good people rich in history and service.
Dont do business with these guys. They got our address wrong on multiple occasions which led to a missed appointment and other delivery problems... this was after I told them to correct it multiple times. And they damaged our stairwell during delivery, and refused to pay for damages.
Have only good things to say about service and sales. Good advice, good products, and great staff!
I was determined to buy my appliances online, but the architect I worked with recommended Gringer and Sons. Matt Karabaic was great to work with and showed us different options for all appliances in the kitchen and gave us honest opinions on different types. I did a lot of price shopping and if you include everything including delivery Gringer was actually even cheaper than buying it online.
We got all of our appliances (high-end) from Gringer. Very happy with the service and attention.
Good prices. Delivery and installation done on time as scheduled.
Last year we bought a 14,000 BTU Frigidaire air conditioner from Gringer and Sons. The installers were sloppy and the air conditioner was very noisy (sounded like a wind storm). We’re replacing it this year. When I called I told the salesman that we want a quiet air conditioner. He was too busy selling and didn’t listen.
Buyer Beware!! If I could give zero stars, I would. I had the single worst buying experience I have ever had at this appliance dealer. I bear part of the blame. Heres what happened: I needed a new stove to replace the old Amana that was in my apartment when I bought it 15 years ago. I hate shopping, so I measured the Amana and ordered a new GE the same size online to replace it. I prefer to give my business to smaller stores rather than the big box chains, so I chose Gringers. When the stove arrived, it would not fit through the front door, and since the kitchen door is even smaller, I had no choice but to refuse delivery and send it back. Little did I know that Gringers calls every order a special order, and they have a no exchange/no refund/no return policy. They sent over a contractor who measured and told me that I would have to rip out part of my kitchen wall to fit it. I then asked for a refund, only to be told that they would not return my money. The rep, Amaury, was extremely combative and rude. He told me, incorrectly, that no full-sized stove would fit, and I should get a lawyer but I would lose in court. He then sent me no fewer than 14 bullying emails in one day.At that point I asked to speak with the store manager, Allan Schuster. Allan was helpful and polite and eventually recommended a different stove, an Electrolux, that would fit. He told me that they are not set up for online shopping, and to ignore the website, as they dont keep it updated. The reason that I am still giving only one star is that I ended up paying triple for the delivery/installation/removal. He would only substitute the new stove if I agreed to pay the same amount as I would have for the GE, despite the fact that the Electrolux is a less expensive stove. They charged the regular delivery and removal charge plus double the regular installation fee for the trouble of removing the oven door on both the old and new stove to fit it through the door. I agreed because I needed the nightmare over. They claimed that the exorbitant fee was to cover the $2200 stove that they claim they now cant sell because it was unboxed. Never again.Do not use this dealer unless you are absolutely certain that you will never need to return or exchange your desired item!!
BUYER BEWARE!! Gringer & Sons knowingly SELLS and INSTALLS DEFECTIVE Merchandise!! Terrible (NO) Customer Service!! I recently bought a Fisher Paykel dishwasher; the installers knowingly installed the unit with a bottom drawer that was stuck open at the first use, couldn’t close. When I called Gringer, the manager Allen Schuster, said the installer’s HAD TOLD HIM, THE DAY THEY INSTALLED IT, something was wrong with the bottom drawer. Neither Wesley Thompson the salesperson nor Allen Schuster the manager contacted me to remedy the situation. When I called, Allen Schuster said ITS NOT OUR PROBLEM, ALL SALES ARE FINAL, even though it was not stated on the receipt. It was now my responsibility to have it covered through warranty. Neither of them was proactive addressing the situation and took offense that I was not willing to accept a defective product. I wrote the President of the company, Michael Weinman and the Vice-President Lewis Shenker, describing my dissatisfaction with receiving a defective unit. Neither of them responded, Allen Schuster sent an email saying they were going to replace the unit; but since I had complained, they were insulted and were not going to do anything. HUH!! NO ONE from Gringer made any attempt to make such an offer, THEY NEVER DID PROVIDE ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE!! This was INJURY added to INSULT!! seeing as, Wesley Thompson handled the initial sale, in spite of being told I am only being available on certain days; therefore scheduling two weeks out from the purchase; he called at the last minute wanting to change to a day that I was not available. When I insisted they honor the original commitment date, he had to call the customer he had put in my time slot for permission to change, then, said Gringer would keep their commitment to me because the other customer was so accommodating. HUH??? DO NOT BUY ANYTHING, EVER FROM GRINGER & SONS
Great Job! Grainger team really came through.
Helpful
They dont have much inventory in stock so you would have to order from a catalog, in that case, Ill just go online!!!
Believe the bad reviewsFor two months the Commack store has not honored their agreement to provide me with a cover for the barbecue grill which I paid for in full. Shame on them. I should have bought at Home Depot.
Rude staff.
