I used to go to Dr. Hurlburt when he owned the practice on his own and always had great experiences. Once it was sold, customer service tanked so much that I no longer go there. Bills are frequently screwed up, staff doesnt follow through, calls are never returned, etc. I wish Dr. Hurlburt would move to another practice so I could continue seeing him, but I will never go to a Vision Care Specialists-owned office again.

Very poor customer service. I have a problem with non medical, basically retail people insisting to take my temperature when all I wanted to do was pick up a pair of glasses I had already paid $1000 for. We will not be back.

This place was just bought out by Vision Care Specialists, and they have already lost my business going forward.I had an eye exam with the doctor a couple months ago, and didnt have time to do the contact exam, to which he assured me I could come back whenever and it would just be a 30 dollar charge to just do the contact lens portion.fast forward a couple months, and Vision Care Specialists has taken over, and want to charge me 130 bucks, minus a generous 10 dollar discount to do the exam again since my insurance has already been billed for the year.When I mentioned what the doctor said a couple months prior the answer was, well he sold his practice.Good job losing a customer who spends well over the insurance benefit every year over what equates to a 90 dollar difference.

Im only giving these guys one star because I finally have the glasses I paid for. This the longest and most inconvenient process ever!! Paid for my glasses and no one put in the order so it took weeks even after they said it would be rushed. Be very careful with prices because it can vary depending on who you ask. I was over charged by $100 until the manager gave me the right price. They would have to pay me to shop with them again!!

Ive only been in to price-compare frames (I walked in 10 minutes before they closed and they were really nice about it-- Im sorry!), and I am heading over now to get my PD because my optometrist across town didnt take the measurement while I was there-- Accent Optics will give me my pupillary distance measurement without having to be a patient there! Minimal experience so far has been nice.Thanks!

The Doctor is a fantastic man, very attentive in asking what you need and making sure you have a wonerful experience. Recommends tests that will insure all your eye care is taken care of, he takes his time and cares very much about his patients. But, Ryan one of the guys that works there will put you on hold with out even asking and then hang up on you while trying to figure things out. I hope no one has to deal with the way the staff treated me, they need new staffing eminently!

Highly recommended! Scheduling an appointment is very easy. Once there, Dr. Hurlbut was very professional, thorough, and friendly. He explained each procedure in depth, in a way that made me understand why he was doing what he was doing and what the results meant. He genuinely cares about you as a person, as well as your eye health. He is very competent, which was a welcomed change from other optometrists Ive been to.Filling a prescription for glasses seemed to be a little on the expensive side (though I have no comparison to say that objectively), but his staff spent as much time and effort getting the right fit for me given my price range, and they didnt push to make a sale (which I greatly appreciated).I also got contacts, for which he gave me a trial pair to iron out any problems. Unlike the other reviewer, when the full set of contacts I ordered didnt fit right (astigmatism), Accent returned them and got the right pair, free of charge for me.

My visit to Accent Optics was not a completely positive and easy experience. Although, Dr. Hurlbut was such a wonderful guy, one of his staff members completely ruined it for me. I unfortunately missed my first appointment and when I tried to reschedule, the female staff member had a certain snarky tone in her voice after I mentioned I had missed my appointment. When I was finally off of hold and got a date figured out for a new appointment, she proceeded to rudely tell me If youre going to miss this appointment, can you call beforehand? It was such a reasonable request, however, she continued to say We are really busy on Saturdays and we need make sure we can fit the people who are really going to come in. Her tone was unpleasant and as soon as I mentioned I had something come up, she became rather short with me. To make the experience even worse, I came there to get a renewal prescription for contacts; however they never gave me the information regarding my contact prescription. So when I had to order contacts, I had my father try to get in touch with them. (I have a rather busy work schedule.) The male staff member was more than willing to help! He let us know that we could come in anytime to get the prescription. When my dad went to pick up the prescription, again the female staff member was nothing but rude to my father. Giving him attitude when all my dad was trying to do was pick something that was already promised to be given to him. This female staff member is the only reason I will not be going back. For someone who had just one appointment with them, I did not expect to treated like I was incompetent. The price for a first exam was a little pricey too, however, Im not used to going to a private Optical businesses. Its one thing to have someone repeating the same mistake, but its another when they havent even become a client yet.

Doctor Hurlburt provided a thorough, professional eye exam, and took the time to answer all my questions without making me feel rushed. He also offered suggestions for different contact options and combinations to address my specific issues.

I brought my husband in to find glasses on Saturday at 1pm. We were not greeted. We had to go find the man to ask him wear the mens glasses were. He said they were mixed in with ladies glasses. He didnt get up to nicely show us where any of the mens glasses were he just sat there. He was VERY rude. We were completely on our own with no help. Would highly NOT recommend this place.

The staff At Vision Care specialists NEVER, EVER returns my calls. I recently called and told them that I had a pair of glasses that I wanted to buy, but they put me on hold and again told me someone would call me back. Its been 3 days, and nothing. They just lost a definite sale! Who does that? Im shopping for another eyecare center. A shame though, because Dr. Hurlbut is an excellent doctor. I liked him a lot. Ever since Accent Optics became Vision Care Specialists, the service has been horrible. Find another place to get your eye care.

I have been seeing Dr. Hurlbut for the last 10 years and I have never had a doctor as thorough and thoughtful as this doctor. Experience matters and Dr. Hurlbut provides a different level of service than your standard shop.In regards to his staff I have had a completely different experience than what was stated in the negative review from Kaylo. Ryan was exemplary and being nearly blind I rely on my glasses to work everyday. When my pair broke unexpectedly Ryan went out of his way to get them to the lab and back because I was going on a business trip.I would suggest this shop to anyone and I do as often as I can.

I recently moved to the Denver area and saw Dr. Hurlbut for a yearly exam that requires specialized equipment to monitor my retinas for possible damage from medication I take for a health condition. My eye Doctors in Seattle were top of the line and I must say, Dr. Hurlbuts service far surpassed them. Unlike a lot of other Doctors, he doesnt leave you in the hands of technicians, sees you for 5 minutes and then sends you out the door. He does much of the exam himself, is very thorough and does not rush. When you book your appointment with Dr. Hurlbut, you get his full attention for the time you are there. You just dont get that kind of service anymore and I am very happy I found Accent Optics.

I used to go to another optometrist, who would recommend new eyeglasses every year. I now suspect that revenue from the onsite eyewear shop was important to him. Dr. Hurlbut, on the other hand, once let me go for three years without having to buy a new pair. He is a nice guy who is thoroughly professional and happy to explain procedures clearly. His staff is great, and Im sure he vetted his new optometrist partner well.

This office is a disgrace. He does not have adequate equipment and the wait is always at least half an hour. He said he could fit me with contacts for keratoconus and he failed. They would not return my calls. They said I could not just give them the contacts back since theyre not right for me. It turns out I find out I had the right to a 30 day trial period but he did not mention it.
