Visiting your optometrist can be a bit daunting for some people much like going to the dentist. There is a lot strange equipment and big words being used which we have no clue as to their meaning. And, then after your exam, you get the hard pressure sale to buy frames and lenses. Well, NOT at Sumner Vision. They are kind and patient and understanding of the process from the patients point of view. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Do yourself and your eyes a favor by visiting Sumner Vision.

At first the ladies at the clinic were nice until I checked yes on one of the questions on the paper about COVID-19 that I had been in contact with someone who had COVID than one of the staff came and started screaming that this guy has COVID get him out he has COVID “me” even though I told another staff that I checked yes and I can leave if I should not be here. I also have my COVID test that I am negative. What is the point of social distance and wearing a mask!! That was very disappointing no one apologized or said anything about it. If this staff was a real man he would have came to me or to one of the staff and asked me to leave respectfully I would have understood and left. But that was a really bad experience. I believe that person was Allen Zarrin. I usually would say that he represents himself not the clinic, but I expect an apology or something to say after all this screaming in front of everyone.

Sumner Vision squeezed me in on a Saturday to help with an eye irritation. The doctor was able to fix it within 10 minutes with instant relief! It was perfect and I’m very appreciative of their help.

I am extremely disappointed in Sumner Vision. I went to Sumner because they took my insurance - or so I thought. The visit was fine. Nothing particularly special about my visit, besides maybe seeing the receptionists eat McDonalds behind the desk. After calling both Sumner and my insurance company beforehand I was told that my visit would be covered. I then got a $90 contact fitting fee, even though I did not need to change the type of contacts I was currently wearing. I was told this was unavoidable because I was new patient. Of course they forgot to mention this fee when I initially called and asked about coverage. I then was told my contacts were eligible for a rebate. I purchased my contacts from Sumner because I was expecting to qualify for this rebate. Of course the rebate turned out to be a hoax. I should have known. Ive called Sumner multiple times for help/reimbursement and while they may seem friendly and helpful in the moment, there has been no follow up. I would only recommend Sumner if you plan on spending an additional $200 and love surprise fees.

I have a fairly rare eye problem called Corticonis. Sumner vision did a great job diagnosing this problem and getting me a new prescription on my glasses. I am seeing very well for the first time in a long while. I would highly recommend Sumner Vision.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Sumner and his awesome team for several years now. We love Dr. Sumner! Hes very detailed and thorough and has a great sense of humor! He also has the latest technology, which is so important. His team is very professional and friendly. Allen is a wonderful stylist who can help anyone find the perfect shape and style of glasses. They have a huge selection of frames, ranging from classics to designer-hipster styles. The office is right in the heart of Cherry Creek with plenty of free parking!

This practice has the best customers service I have ever experienced at a doctors office. From the ladies at the front desk, the doctor and Allen with the optical desk I have never been treated with more attentive service. Everyone was so kind, it made me want to go to the eye doctor more than once a year! Their diverse choices of frames I had so many great options to choose from. I picked the cutest pair of Cosmopolitan frames, I cant wait to wear them!

I love Dr. Sumner. I have been going to him since he was in his previous location over on 2nd & Milwaukee. Dr. Sumner greets me by my first name even when he hasnt seen me in a year (or longer). I have never paid for services for which I did not approve. Some of these reviews are ridiculous!!!The staff has changed over the years, but I am always treated courteously and expeditiously. Its always fun to interact with them when purchasing new frames! The office has recently gone through a much needed upgrade in regards to the selection of frames and lenses. So many beautiful designer frames to choose from in a multitude of styles and colors. I just got a stunning pair of Face a Face frames in two-tone green gem stone colors, handmade in Paris....ooh la la!!! I couldnt love them more ❤Thank you Dr. Sumner, Allen, Yvette and Brittany!!!

The staff are friendly and professional. The office is nice with a surprisingly large selection of frames. Conveniently located. in the heart of Cherry Creek. Regarding the care and treatment, Dr. Sumner has the latest and greatest technology, which gives better information without dilation and less time looking at eye charts. I was impressed with Dr. Sumner & The Staff. The detailed history was more than what I have given to my Primary Doctor. The Doctor took the time to go thru my Vision History & won my trust. Change is difficult, My insurance no longer covers my previous doctor, thus prompting the change to Dr. Sumner. I will continue seeing Dr. Sumner going forward.

I had an excellent experience at Sumner Vision! I needed to make an appointment quickly, and I was able to get in right away. Making an appointment online was easy, which is such a nice convenience. The clinic space was very nice, and all of the staff were friendly and professional. Dr. Sumner made me feel right at home.

The eye exam was very rushed....didnt really ask questions much and I have been diagnosed with astigmatism in another state.....I didnt like that at all... I travel...thought this place would be goood......I miss my old eye place :( gonna go somewhere else to get another checkup...but good eyeglass frame deals!!!!!

I found Dr. Sumner through offices my insurance recommends. I just needed new contacts and glasses and thought it was going to be a run of the mill appointment. As luck would have it, Dr. Sumner specializes in keratoconus (having a misshapen cornea) which I have in my left eye. Dr. Sumner spent a lot of time explaining to me what my corneas look like, what we can do to correct my vision in my left eye, and future treatment plans. He is a wealth of knowledge and answered every one of my questions thoughtfully. Their office also did due diligence and ensured my insurance would cover the lenses before ordering them, which I appreciated. I would highly recommend Dr. Sumner and his staff, they are a true pleasure to work with.

Did not enjoy my time spent at this office. High pressure sales tactics from the doctor about contact lenses in a one on one setting. An office that ordered an upgrade (up-charge) on my glasses that I specifically did not ask for. Felt more like used car shopping than a professional medical practitioner. Will not go back.

I went to Sumner for the first time today. This visit was a little rough, but Ill be giving them a second chance. The location is convenient and I feel confident with the doctors abilities. I feel that my appointment took too long (almost two hours and I was the only one there) and the tests and billing were not described to me properly.Theres a big difference between might be and will be billed. I understand that the doctor isnt familiar with my insurance and cant quote me exactly, but thats what the receptionist is for. I want to know the actual costs before I agree to more tests.All that aside, I like this doctor and will give the office the benefit of the doubt. Ill take this over budget eyeware chains anyday. The product selection is much better too.

Dr. Sumner specializes in Keratoconus and was able to give me more options about treatment than any other doctor I had seen before. He was able to schedule me to see a surgeon the next day and has since then been able to fit me in to his schedule when an emergency comes up.

DO NOT VISIT THIS OFFICE. The front desk was not only rude, unhelpful, and belittling, but they overcharged without prior notification. After scheduling an appointment and discussing the purpose of the appointment (annual eye exam for the purpose of ordering new contact lenses) Debbie informed me that they accept my insurance for the eye exam but do not for ordering contacts. I decided to go in anyway, so I could get my updated prescription and order online elsewhere. Once the exam was completed I expected to pay my $15.00 copay, however had to pay an additional $105.00 for the contact lens evaluation, despite the $30.00 patient responsibility as said in my insurance benefits. Confused, I called my insurance as soon as I arrived home, and they verified that Dr. Sumner was an in-network provider, and the total cost of the visit should have been $45.00. My insurance representative spoke directly with Debbie and she stated that despite accepting the insurance as a practice they charge $105 for contact lens evaluations. Based on my personal interactions, and the interactions of my insurance representative, it is clear that Debbie and this practice intentionally withhold information about the true cost of the evaluation until it has been completed in order to force patients into paying out of pocket. Very disappointed in the complete scam of this practice.

I love Dr. Sumner he is the kindest most professional person I have ever had work on my eyes( I have been going to him since 2009 after my eyes were injured)----that said his staff NOT SO MUCH!In 2011 I went for a check up and new glasses, the lady who fits you and orders the glasses told me she would call me in 7-10 days when my glasses arrived. It was almost 3 weeks later and I hant heard from them so I called and was told by this lady that she didnt order my glasses when I first went because she said she didnt know if I would be able to afford them! WTF! After a few harsh words and a reminder that they had never had a problem getting their money from me, my glasses were ordered. Honestly, if Dr. Sumner wasnt so great with me I would never go back to this place!!!

For 5 years I have had problems with my eyes. I came to Sumner vision for the first time and I hadnt be able to see out of my right eye for over 5 years. They didnt waste my time or try to make me do anything I didnt wanna do and now I CAN SEE out of both of my eyes.

At my first appointment a year ago it took a couple extra calls from me to get them to order my contact lenses. Annoying but whatever.This time I made an appointment for 3pm. Confirmed for 2:50. Arrived at 2:56. The receptionist said I confirmed for 2:45 and asked me to reschedule because their schedule was tight. No thanks, not coming back.

I would have to admit, after reading the steady complaints about this company I still was willing to go ahead and give them a try due to the fact of being thru treated with the general corporate in and out, next in line type service you receive usually in those types of places, so I wanted to try a private doctor and this one was a close and convenient distance from my house so I went with it. After talking to Lacey to set up my appointment I let her know that I had recently gotten my eye exam at another office and she continued by asking me what office and that she would get it from them for me before my appointment date. I showed up for my appointment, totally spacing about my recent eye exam and how I wanted to call and make sure they got it alright a few days prior. But when I got there and asked, Lacey had already gotten everything faxed over and I didnt have to do nothing. I went in for my lens appointment and was extremely impressed with the selection of designer frames they have available as well. After choosing the frames I wanted and finding out the doctors suggestion on contacts lens I ordered them and received a call about a week later that they had came in and were ready for me to pick up. The contacts actually keep my eyes a lot less dry then lens that Ive had in the past as well. I will be returning to this office in the near future and was beyond pleased with the service I received.

Dr Sumner is great; but the office staff scheduling is terrible. They cancelled an appointment on me just 2 hours beforehand (I had scheduled it about a year ago), and rescheduled me for 12:30pm on a Saturday, failing to mention that their office closes at 12:00pm on a Saturday. Kind of like when Jerry Seinfeld gets a non-vitation to a wedding.

The doctor was helpful with advice and I got the glasses I needed at a good price.

I have a condition called keratoconus so I looked on the keratoconus website and Dr. Sumner was listed as a keratoconus specialist in Denver so I called. He is the only Dr. I have found that could properly fit hard scleral contacts in Denver. I have struggled for years trialing different kinds with different doctors and never could wear any for more than 2 hrs without pain or scratching. The first pair I tried with Dr. Sumner was good, not perfect, so we tried another kind and he fit them perfectly the 1st time! I didn’t need to go back for adjustment after adjustment. He also helped get the surface of my dry eyes in shape so I could wear these new hard contacts easier. After seeing so poorly for years with special eyes soft contacts, and not seeing at all with glasses, these contacts have truly changed my everyday life. I can wear these for 16+ hrs comfortably. I absolutely recommend Dr. Sumner for dry eye treatment and contact fitting!

I drive from Albuquerque to Denver just to see Dr. Larry Sumner for scleral contact lenses. I am a post RK patient; I had Radial Keratotomy in 1985 and my corneas are irregular. I struggled with my vision for the past ten years, going to five differenteye doctors in Albuquerque, New Mexico with unfavorable results. My contact lenses were uncomfortable and my glasses did not correct my vision.Dr. Larry Sumner took his time to fit me into Scleral contact lenses. My scleral lenses are comfortable all day and they are easy to insert and remove. My lenses provide me with the best corrected vision possible.When I arrived I was wearing glasses that corrected my left eye to 20/40 and right eye to 20/200. My Scleral lenses restored my left eye to 20/20 and right eye to 20/25. I am a very satisfied customer of Sumner Vision. Also, the staff at Sumner Vision are friendly and helpful. Especially Stephanie who always made my day.Update: I have returned to Summer Vision for scleral lenses. Dr. Sumner treated me for dry eyes with tear saver implants which saves me from having to use eye drops several times a day. I highly recommend Sumner Vision.

I got my first pair of glasses when I was in the fourth grade and Im now 28 years old. This is the only optometrist who has ever flat out got the prescription wrong. Ive been wearing contacts since I was in the seventh grade and was pressured heavily to try dailys by this doctor. Five brands (and five separate trips into his office) later I finally convinced him to give me the ones Ive been wearing for years with no problems.I was told very directly over the phone that his office would NOT verify my prescription with 1-800-Contacts. I understand this is a business and they have to make money. But Im not buying a set of tires for my car, were talking about MY EYES. It felt very much like my vision health came in second to this office making a buck off me.

This office is a joke. There new employee Tracey is very rude and has no knowledge of working in an optical. Do not go tot his office. They are just money hungry and charge you for things you arent even aware of till you are done with your exam. Terrible place. I wish I can rate with no starsYou are a liar Dr. Sumner. You and your wife are scandalous people. Tracy is a racist woman as well. I witnessed first hand how she ignored a Caucasian couple looking at glasses and refused to give them the time a day cause she was busy helping and i quote a sister with her glasses. I watched as the couple left disappointed in the services there. Tracy is not a certified optician and I was. So enjoy your 1 star reviews. BTW this place has still yet to send me my last check and and pay stub because as I mentioned above. They are nothing but money hungry scandalous people.... DO NOT GO HERE!

I needed a replacement pair of eyeglasses since my glasses were destroyed. I called and spoke with Lacey about how I would go about this. She said that because I hadnt been there in a couple of years, they couldnt make new glasses for me without a costly eye exam. Not everyone makes $200,000+ per year like these golfball-brained elitist crooks. Dr. Sumner also referred me to Omni Eye Specialists, another bunch of crooks, for an eye problem he and Omni couldnt diagnose, but Anschutz Eye Center could.....and for infinitely less money. And when the office responds to complaints by blowing their own horn ....received superlative care and exams.....(paraphrasing) you know you have a business dominated by greed and controlled totally by money. I will not be doing business with these automatons anymore.
