This is the best experience I’ve had getting work on my Subaru done. Even though it was an older model they were very knowledgeable and got the problem fixed faster and for several thousand dollars less than it would have been at a Subaru dealership. Great selection of different subarus an knowledgeable. Bought a Forester last week with new headgaskets, timing belt, water pump etc. and have already put 1000 miles on it in 6 days. Runs great! Great deal, clean, and exactly what I wanted. I originally came in for a different car listed on Car Gurus, but ended up getting one I liked even more for about what I expected to pay for the original one. While it is pretty solid and I dont see myself needing anything fixed for a while, when I do, Id put my trust in them to fix it.

Duckworth (James) saved me! My kids’ “new” old Subaru had some issues and another mechanic gave me an astronomical cost including costs for a new transmission. Duckworth reassessed. Transmission was fine and other work was accomplished at a fraction of the other mechanic’s quoted costs. Communication was helpful and clear; service could not have been better; car is running well. And James helped my get the car back to my kids who are in college. I am so grateful! Will not use any other mechanic for a Subaru again!!! Duckworth was great.

We bought a used Subaru here and were pleased with the service. The check engine light came on within a week or so, but Duckworth took care of the problem for us. These guys definitely seem to know their way around Subarus... would buy from then again!

I was told by other mechanics that I needed a new head gasket after 4 attempts to solve an overheating problem on a 2010 Subaru Legacy. Turns out it was a water pump gasket and not purging air properly. Great job

I have a Subaru Forester and thought I may have a nail in my tire. The nearest dealership is 15 miles from me so I saw that this place was also a Subaru specialist and decided to give them a try. They fit me right in, removed the nail, patched it up, and sent me on my way! While I was waiting, there was the absolute sweetest golden retriever to play with- that was such a fun surprise and cheered me right up. I definitely recommend these guys and will be taking my car there from now on.

These guys are so easy to work with! Not pushy like most sales people. They deal mostly in Subarus, and if you are looking for something in particular that they dont have, they are willing to look for it for you. Great people to work with!

They were able to get me in on very short notice and took good care of me. I was in and out in 1 hour after getting 4 new tires and replacement of my ball joints. 100% would recommend. They also have a great puppy to keep you company in the waiting area.

Theyve been very helpful, and they clearly know what theyre doing. I only take my car to them now. Im satisfied with my vehicle and their work on it. Extremely trustworthy.

Our family has 2 new drivers (twin 16 year olds). We needed 2 additional vehicles to accommodate my commute and their needs. We did the research and landed on Subaru Forester or Toyota RAV4. Both are great but used ones are in very high demand. We looked at big dealers but found Duckworth online. They had great ratings and the best Subaru’s in the 80k to 100k mile range.We ended up buying 2 Foresters from them. They are pristine and they did all the major services on them. I liked that they offer a warranty policy to purchase (reasonable price) also to protect the customer from major surprises for the next few years. It is clear they really know Subaru’s well and how to repair/maintain them. We’ve had them for almost 90 days and glad we bought from them. We live a ways away from them but will continue to use them for service. They are knowledgeable, honest and no-nonsense. There is no shiny sales floor or luxurious waiting area with free coffee and snacks. Pick up a Starbucks and a muffin and save a ton of $$$$$$.

Went there with a friend to buy a used Subaru. The pricing was super fair, we found one issue that was addressed immediately and fixed, and Fabio, the guy we were dealing with, couldnt have been better to deal with. And, if you decide to buy a vehicle from there, there are two friendly golden retrievers that will play with you while youre in the office. If Im ever in the market for a Subaru I will definitely buy from here.

I live in another state, but my daughter goes to school in Charlotte with her 09 Forester. Her Forester overheated and I had it towed to a Subaru dealer. Quote was $8500 to rebuild the engine! Called Duckworth. They picked up my daughters car at the dealer, DROVE it to their shop (cant drive a blown engine, so it must not have been blown). Duckworth replaced the radiator, did some preventative repairs to the rear struts. He drove it for a day or two to make sure it was safe. Totaled less than $750. He made me promise to put new tires on for my daughter. I have THREE daughters ALL with Subarus. I trust James completely for my Charlotte daughters safety. I wish he could maintain my other two. If you live in Charlotte, buy from James. Subarus are quirky, dont trust them to Firestone, etc. Let James do your regular maintenance. I wish I could give him SIX stars!

Friendly owners, really know their stuff. We bring out Subaru’s in because they are experts with them. Very accommodating and easy to communicate with. We have been bringing our cars in for repairs for years.

Buyers beware. They will lie to you. Not stand behind their work. Buy from a reputable Subaru dealership. When we purchased our Subaru Outback from them we were assured the head gasket, motor block, engine cylinders had been resurfaced and most importantly that the timing belt had been replaced.We purchased a 2008 from them and we knew that the head gaskets and timing belts were a big expensive in this particular year if they were to “go.” We were told multiple times that that all of the above was done and the new engine block put in only had 35,000 miles on it and the timing belt was brand new. We bought this car two years ago in March and had not even put 30,000 miles on it. The timing belt went. Causing a complete lost of the engine.So, your assumption of “oil changes” is incorrect. Either you didn’t actually put a brand new timing belt on the car or failed to do so properly. Also, the reputable mechanic I took my car to stated that the synthetic oil I was putting in my car for high mileage was good for 6,000 miles. As, I changed it regularly. They also stated if they had done the timing belt and it went with only 30000 miles they would have replaced the entire engine and stood behind their work. That is what a reputable business does.I hope my review saves someone else from spending over 7,500.00 on a car that you state will be reliable. You told my husband and I we would not have to consider replacing the timing belt until around 65,000 miles and that was on the very conservative side.Because you built your business on the back of Actual SUBARU branding which is theft of Subaru’s brand and those of us who buy because of our loyalty to it and your company overstating how much and well you do on the work to the cars you are selling. For what you charge go to a dealer and by a certified preowned Subaru so you won’t be out almost 8 thousand dollars in barely two years.This is the what the scam is for them. They by Subaru’s with blown engines. Replace them and resell them. All you have to do is look at how much they are asking for the cars they are selling. Be carful is all I am stressing to you.

You have experienced Subaru specialists without the stealership way of business. They also have a great selection of subarus at reasonable prices. The buying process was great with dealer F, very friendly and helpful. After driving the car 5 times the check engine light came on! I practically begged dealer F, to tell me if the car had any immediate issues before I agreed to purchase it. He said it had no issues, except it may need tires at some point. He assured me they had serviced the car and did all repairs needed. I needed that assurance of no issues because, am retired with health issues and did not want a car that needed immediate repairs. So, I trusted Dealer F assurance about the vehicle. So, I was shocked when the check engine light came on driving it short distances about 5 times within 2 weeks of purchase.Dealer F said to bring the car in to see why the check engine light came on, (the day of purchase, he told me in front of my friend that Duckworth would service any issues for me). They checked it and said it was the way I idled the car that caused it to come on. They got it off, but 2 days later it was back on. They told me to take it to a Jeep dealership for a program code. I was confused to be told a week or so later by dealer A when I asked for the check engine report, that the issue was the throttle. And that its a used car and may have issues. I told him dealer F said it did not and that I could bring them the car to be serviced. Dealer A then said Dealer F misspoke and the only sale and service Subarus. Even thro the Jeep I bought was not the only none Subaru being sold on their lot at the time.The Carfax report on their website said the throttle had been replaced before I purchased the car. My uncle a car repairman said if the Carfax said the throttle had been replaced then to go ahead with the purchase. Now, I wonder if that was true.I wanted to upgrade my warranty with deal F to make sure the throttle was covered. But, I never got a to return call to discuss warranty. The warranty company told me the dealer had to do the upgrade.Oh, well live and learn to never trust a used car dealer. Am moving on and praying the throttle or whatever is wrong is covered under the warranty I purchased. No more business for them from me.

I arrived with my 1993 Subaru Impreza and left with a 2007 Subaru Outback from Duckworth Automotive! Jamie and Fabio were extremely helpful and willing to answer all of my questions. I was taken aback when they were willing to talk shop with me, since a lot of people assume women don’t know about cars. We ran through the major Subaru concerns, and they made sure I was aware of all of the recent repairs done on the car. They made certain that I got under the hood and even encouraged me to take it to a secondary mechanic before I made a purchase. To add, these guys went an extra step to ensure that my car was road worthy before I drove it across the country to Oregon. I would recommend buying a Subaru from these guys over a big dealership any day. They made me feel like family, and for a moment, I could have sworn I was back in my dad’s garage.

My Husband and I just purchased our 2008 Subaru Outback from Duckworth. You will not find a more pleasant buying experience of a Subaru ANYWHERE. There is no pressure and they let the cars sell themselves. All they do is service and sell Subarus. They will go above and beyond to answer any questions. They made us feel like family throughout the whole process. They also know everything about the cat that they are selling you. They are honest and the integrity of everyone there sets a very high bar for any Subaru dealership. We are in the Columbia SC area and will only go there if our car needs service. They stand behind their cars. We brought our dog with us and she got her first Subaru dog toy. You will not have an easier buying process. Our car had the head gasket replaced with the better gasket, new timing belt and water pump. All covered for 1 year. We would just have to pay labor. Which we wouldnt mind because the rates are exceptionally great considering the exceptional quality of service your car will receive. We know we got a car that will last us for several years and a lot more life. I cannot express what an honor it was to purchase our new car from Duckworth. You will not be disappointed.

The owner James is a true Subaru expert. I have a Subaru with a rare engine and we searched everywhere to find a mechanic who had the know-how and experience to work on my niche market of a Subaru. After lots of searching we came across Duckworth Automotive. The first thing we noticed was it was a Subaru exclusive repair shop so we knew there was a better chance of getting my vehicle repaired. The next benefit was when I spoke to him on the phone he knew exactly what was wrong with the vehicle and because he collects so many cars most of the parts he gets are dirt cheap and labor cost far less than most other shops. He purchases new parts of course when they are necessary but always does everything he can to save you money.
