Danny is an honest mechanic. I have brought both of my vehicles to Danny, multiple times. He has patience in explaining the service, the alternatives, and how best to preserve my vehicles.

Found this hidden gem through word of mouth. Needed my control arms and more done, and Luu took the time to tell me additional problems with my vehicle. Great communication and going above and beyond my 2010 drives smoother than before, and handles well. DEFINITELY going back, great local family business, great morals, and honest work with a great price.

Danny was very helpful in diagnosing and repairing my vehicle at a reasonable price. The shop was a low key mechanic shop with a metal building and small, simple waiting area. While I waited for pickup there was a steady stream of happy customers in and out. I think Ill return here for my auto repair needs. Its just unfortunate that it is a bit North making it hard to get to with Austin traffic.

An honest mechanic can be hard to find. Danny is one of those few. Danny and his team go above and beyond to do the job right, at minimal cost.On a couple of occasions, with my vehicle, and the vehicle of a friend, he had opportunity to charge more by doing things the easy way. Instead he did what needed to be done, and did it right, keeping my repair expenses to a minimum.I will gladly drive to the other side of Austin to have my repairs done by this man who has earned my trust.

Danny and is team are simply great. I have been going to him over five years now. I always bring him the major repairs from Lexus for my car as they are entirely overpriced. Danny is very fair in his pricing and will fix it with great quality. It is a no brained to do business with him as he is a hardworking, genuine, knowledgeable, and most important ethical mechanic.

I needed the hood and roof repainted on my 2005 Corolla. Luu Auto Repair did an excellent job for a reasonable price. On top of that, they buffed the headlight glass coverings for no extra charge. I was so impressed with the paint job that I didnt even notice that theyd cleaned the headlight glasses until I got the car home. Im really impressed with the job they did.

Pros: Very honest, and will tell you if you can wait a while to get something fixed. I trust them to not try and screw you.Cons: Location is a bit of a drive. It is a bit pricey. Can be heard to hear over the phone.Overall, I would recommend if only for their honesty. I will always pay more for a mechanic who has good morals.

My dad has worked auto body and repairs since before I was born so I know a thing or two- Danny Luu is not only a great person and repair man but hes honest and incredibly reasonable. Took our civic to Austin automotive to check the HVAC, they wanted to charge over 800 to fix it. Luu found it was just a switch and fixed it for under 50$. 9 months later and the AC still works great. Will always have our business.

Danny Luu is the most honest and fair mechanic Ive ever met. He cares about his customers, and he will never overcharge you. His crew does excellent work with absolute integrity. I was worried about bringing my Mini Cooper there since its not a German shop, but I was blown away by the quality of work. Dont hesitate to bring Danny Luu any make or model for any repair. I cant recommend this shop highly enough.

I brought my van to Danny for a radiator leak. Danny replaced the radiator. Almost a year later, I brought my van back for a timing belt replacement. Danny noticed there was a small leak on the radiator and told me that he would replace it at no extra cost to me. Anyone could claim to be a good mechanic, but it takes someone special who would care of your car as his own to be called professional and honest mechanic.

Love this place, Luu’s Auto Repair & Body Shop, on Kramer Lane. Took my car in for battery issue that just wasn’t keeping charge on a new battery and new alternator. Danny gave in full detail what was wrong relayed the information and made it a point to show me. Something that I’ve not had when going to a mechanic. Customer service is great. Very kind, friendly. Luu’s will be my go to for auto repair. I recommend Luu’s. Mind you they do get busy, but it is worth it in the end to take your car to Luu’s even if it’s to leave it overnight. I had no problem with that.

I leave money in the ashtray when I drop off my cars and its still there when I pick them up. Danny Luu and his guys are honest and fair and his prices are always reasonable. A friend referred me to Danny Luu in 2004 and Ive been using him ever since (for five different cars). He does body work as well as engine repairs, and Ive used him for both. [2019 edit: Danny Luu no longer does body work, just mechanical repairs now.] The only downside to bringing my cars there is that theyre a family business and can get really busy sometimes, so if I can I call ahead to find out when I can drop it off.

Excellent!Went into the shop for the first time and was not disappointed. From the moment I stepped into the office to the time I went to pick up my car Danny Luu was very welcoming and gave me a good vibe since the start. Most of the mechanics out there are looking to add in extra charges or things you actually do not need. I had taken my car to the dealership for a recall and the mechanics told me I had to change my breaks both fron and rear. Of course, they wanted to charge me over $700 dollars for parts and labor which I did not have at the time. My rear break pads were completely gone and it was metal on metal, it was pretty bad. So, I went to Autozone and got the rotors (front/rear) and pads and asked Danny if it was OK to take them and charge for labor since most of the mechanics wont do that, but he was OK with it and agreed to charge me for the labor only, which by the way it was VERY low compared to other mechanics. Not only he charged me very little, he was also very honest and told me that I did not need to replace the rotors or pads in the front and told so he saved me some money right there as well! From now on, he will be my GO TO mechanic. I honestly could not ask for more.

Its tough to find a reliable, honest and trustworthy auto repair shop. Danny Luu is an exception. Ive used his services many time in the past - from a cheap Ford I backed into, to my hybrid Lexus suv - every time he has exceeded my expectations. He knows cars and hes great to work with. Ive always found his prices to be reasonable. Last crash someones quoted me $2,200 for the repair and Luu did it for $750. Highly recommend him.

Long review so be warned. TL:DR version: Luus is great!I brought my 2011 Optima Ex Turbo here after years (yes, years) of having random AC issues. Ive had 2 Kia dealerships tell me they couldnt figure out why my AC did not work consistently. I also took it to a NTB and was told that I needed a new AC compressor and given a $1100 estimate. Since the AC worked fine sometimes, I thought they might be telling me incorrect information, so I didnt have the work done (plus that cost was not something I could handle at the time). Basically sometimes my AC would work just fine, but other times (especially in stop and go traffic), the AC would stop working and just blow out hot air. After weeks of 100+ degree weather in Austin, I got desperate and figure Id try this place out (After seeing other reviews). They kept my car for two days. They asked me more diagnostic questions than any of the other places asked. On the second day, they told me the compressor was fine, but that the moving parts needed to be lubricated and that they would check to make sure the refrigerant was properly pressurized. It seemed pretty simple, but why hadnt other places said the same thing?Honestly, I had been so desperate for relief from the hot air that I was prepared to pay for a new AC compressor. Honestly, they could have gouged me on price and I wouldnt have known any better. However, Dannys much less serious repairs totaled $75. Now my AC works just like when I bought the car.Dont judge a book by its cover. This isnt a flashy place by a long shot, but they definitely took care of me and Id definitely recommend them to others.

Already impressed. I purchased new taillights for my truck and when I was about to replace them, I noticed there were so many crimp splices all over the wires, making it really hard to replace. So I took it Luus Shop. Talked to Luu and says it would probably take 2 hours at about $150 to redo the tail lights. I said ok do it. 2 hours later the lights were installed and he tells me that he soldered the older wires previously spliced onto the truck wires directly, where I can just pull the light right off without having to worry about splices. That was a little extra mile I did not expect. I will definitely be coming back.

Several years ago, I had a 1995 Isuzu Trooper with broken power window. He fixed it for a very reasonable price, and it continued to work until I sold it a few years later.

Danny is a RACIEST!! If you arent Vietnamese they wont give you the best service...That was my Experienceand some other Black people proclaimed the same.

He is the most honest mechanic I know of. If he says it needs to be fixed, it does. He will give u a range of prices and options to fit ur budget. I take all my cars to him. Once I went to a auto francise and got a quote of $600+ for a brake job plus extras. I took it to Luu and he knocked it out in $400.He is awesome.
