This is my go to shop! I took my 2008 Subaru Impreza (88k miles) to the dealership and was told it needed $5500 worth of work. That amount almost exceeds the value of my car. Faced with the thought of having to get a new car, I took it to Jims for a second opinion. Was told it only needed $2800 and that the other items quoted could most definitely wait, and may never even materialize to be an issue. So here I am, with my car that I adore, happy as a clam. Thank you to Jims for being so honest and open, and for entertaining my many many questions. And for turning my car around so quickly.

These guys are great. I am an avid DIY guy and know quite a bit a about cars. But when I cant figure it out I go to Jims. They always give me a fair price and explain exactly why they are doing something. The one time they could not diagnose what was going on with my vehicle, they would not even let me pay them. (They probably could have indetified it eventually, but they knew it wasnt cost effective and gave me a few suggestion on where to start myself.) Cant say enough good things about their character.

Jim’s Automotive is the best auto repair service in the DMV! They don’t try to sell me anything I don’t need.I went in one time because my air filter and oil change light came on. I forgot I had replaced my air filters just a couple months prior. They easily could have changed it all out, charged me, and I never would have known. But instead they told me the filters looked new and there was no need to change them!The first time I went there my car was delaying when starting up. They found a crack that no other auto care place had found AND charged me $300 LESS than 2 other quotes I received.I will never go to anybody else as long as I’m in the DMV!

Its a nice shopping center with nice stores. You pass by it and dont know its there. There arent a lot of stores but you can find just about anything there.

I had a 20 year old Nissan Sentra that Richard kept running for 2 years longer than it should have. You call and get an answer quickly, willing to work you in even if they are busy and even took my calls when I needed advise when I was stranded. This shop is has always been honest, given options before doing the work and gotten the work done in a reasonable time.They stay busy, there isn’t a waiting area, but the personal touch and honest assessment really make them the best around.

Great experience. Went in for a minor repair, they did exactly what I asked and charged a fair cheap price. Would recommend and will use again.

Took my 2019 Toyota in for a wheel noise; Jims told me I needed 4 new tires and an alignment, which was surprising at only 20k miles. I initially authorized the work, but when Jims increased the cost of the already expensive estimate the next day, I thanked them for the diagnostic work they had done and decided to get a second opinion. After that I was treated disrespectfully and hung up on twice. Next day the Toyota dealership told me all I needed was an alignment, not 4 new tires. If you go along with whatever Jims recommends you probably wont have a problem. But if you ask questions or want a second opinion, prepare to be treated poorly.

Richard was very helpful, walking us through what needed done and what could honestly wait.

They do great work and are up front about what it costs!

Not sure how this place gets 5 stars from so many people, unless they are friends and family.My family had our van break down while visiting DC, and they tried to tell us something else was wrong, and there was a very slim chance of getting home.We are not only home and had not one single issue, but the car is still going strong, 20% my butt.But I should say they were great at getting it completed so we could leave the day they received it.

Weve been taking our two cars here for 5 years now! Richard provides excellent service, works quickly, and always goes above and beyond. On my most recent repair job, he let me know that he noticed my inspection was out of date--so he just went ahead and took care of it for me. Well be customers there for the long term for sure.

Really awesome experience here! after taking my beater car to 2 different shops and being told there was nothing they can do to help, Jim’s fixed my crazy wiring problem. they rewired my brake lights and fixed my blow turn signal fuse! forgot to mention my other crazy fuse box that wouldn’t go back into the panel 😅😅 thank you all for your patience with my car!!! will definitely come back and recommend you to my friends and family!!!

I was wanting to have my 2001 Outback VDC A/C recharged (its about that time of year to have it) and they were willing to see my the next day and it was a reasonable rate for the area. Very professional mechanics, will be returning for any more of my car needs!

Richard does excellent work, & has kept our Camry running soothly, even after almost 200k miles. Another customer at their shop today drives an excellent Ford Focus with 250k miles. Nice!

Im not one to write reviews but Ive gotten my A/C fixed and my ignition coils replaced here on separate occasions and the shop has been the most straight-forward, decently-priced place Ive ever dealt with. The last time my car was in, they let me know that my brakes were pretty down but would go another oil change rather than try to sell me replacements right there. I appreciated them letting me know and as a result, will be taking my car to them when I do get the brakes fixed.

This place is amazing. My wife used it one day to get a tire repaired, and when most places wanted an arm or a leg, this place did it close to free! Then a few weeks later, we had a bumper-bender incident. They gave us a quick and free estimate. The work was performed on time and exactly like new. The price was reasonable too. Its nice to finally find an honest mechanic in the Arlington area. I really love their ability to explain highly technical issues in a way that I can understand.These fine gentlemen fixed up both of my cars. One was plagued with emissions issues. Managed to run over a bolt and get it stuck in the tire. Pulled into Jims and they took care of it on the spot. Well under 10 minutes start to finish. Just one example of several great experiences Ive had with these guys over the years.

Ive taken two cars to Jims in the past year or so for serious work. The work was done quickly and accurately, fixing the problems. I also have confidence theyd stand behind their work if something needed to be redone or was misdiagnosed. Once I took a car in because of an alarming-sounding rattle and they jacked it up, secured a heat shield with a clamp, which eliminated the issue--and refused to charge me anything at all. They seem to charge the going rate, which in this area is high, but thats life in the big city. Im very happy with Jims and will keep coming back.
