Great selection of oriental foods. A few things I cant find any other place.
I love this grocery store, always clean and a great variety. They have tons of gluten free items that any be found anywhere else.
I love this place! They have a lot of basic needs here and plenty of goodies, everyone there is so polite as well! :) very much recommend
Nice neat aisles and good layout. Clean and inviting though a tad expensive but worthwhile. I like the availability of South East Asian groceries in the aisles and frozen sections.
Japanese/asian Market with big variety of items! Tons of candy, or rice. Theres like 20 different flavors of ramune which is the most ive ever seen! Definitely coming back
Wonderful place with wide selection. Especially good for hard-to-find Japanese ingredients.
I came to buy a 1000kg bag of rice to swim in for my twitch-hot-tub-full-of-rice stream, but they only had reasonably priced 20kg bags. Oh well. Left with some wasabi mayo, mochi, fish heads, and enough nori treats to last a lifetime. Decent little market. 4.65 stars out of 5. Docked points from myself for considering writing you should TSAI out this place sometime.
Great selection of Asian (especially Japanese) groceries. Staff is always polite.
Ya ya its good! 菜 has everything I need including a high five jk. it does have everything tho
Clean, well organized, large selection of dry goods, wide variety of canned and bottled sauces, good variety of packaged confections, all of which focuses mostly on Japanese and Chinese products but includes things from all of east Asia. Medium sized selection of refrigerated items and produce. This is a particularly good store for Japanese products and larger than most Asian grocery stores in Michigan being about twice or three times the size of most strip mall shops. It is not as large as a typical supermarket, being about 1/4 to 1/3 the size of a typical large supermarket.
Good selection of curry choices.Need more candy options.
Great store, had everything I was looking for
Good store to find Asian products. But, be super careful of anything thats on sale. I have found products that are way past their expiration date that they are obviously just trying to get rid of. One of the items I recently purchased was on sale and there was no expiration date stamped. However, it smelled really bad when I opened it and I had to throw it out - making me realize why they put it on sale. While a good store overall, selling expired products puts a serious question mark on their business practice and makes them worthy of no higher than 1 star rating.
A wide array of quality products, good prices, and helpful staff.
I like this store but lots of items have no prices on items or displayed which is against the “Michigan Scanner Law”
Mainly find Japanese groceries but there are Korean stuffs or those from other sian countries.
Lots of amazing products that you cant get anywhere else! All the fixings for sushi, every imaginable Asian sauce, and even Japanese sweet potatoes!
Great selection of pan-Asian specialty foods.
I love going here for basically everything. Tsai Grocery as a big selection of things you can buy. Its a big variety. They have snacks, drinks, main course for dinner, beauty products.. Etc.Its really easy needing to find what you want to find in this store.I also find the prices here really good. I usually dont find anything to out of budget.I usually come here to buy snacks. But they have everything you need. I highly recommend checking Tsai Grocery out.
Worth driving from Jackson for. Clean store. Good produce and nice selection of Asian groceries. Needs work with freezer. Some of the frozen food have ice damage. Love the fresh chow mein noodles. Out of stock half the time which is very disappointing. Friendly staff.
Variety of groceries. But some price tags are wrong. The price cashier scanned are more expensive than the tags said. Checked with the cashier and she just said the price tags are wrong. Not happy about that.
Great selection. Very helpful.
Well stocked but significant jump in prices. Will be shopping elsewhere from now on. $8.99 for 4# of noodles and over $2 for a small can of water chestnuts is too much. I dont know if these are temporary price increases or not.
Great place
Im vegetarian and cannot consume onion and garlic, and they had vegetarian dumplings there, which I cannot find anywhere. Found everything that I love from Asian store since I have very restricted diet.
Excellent phone service. Very recommended.
There are some nice vegetables and food from Japan, but I found some cans that had expired for 2 years. Be careful for the expire date of some food.
Great place, clean, well stocked and very nice people; highly recommend for Asian imports reminds me of larger city Asian stores.
Tsai in one of the smaller Asian grocers in town and, as such, has been eclipsed by some of the behemoths around the area. They do have a decent selection of some frozen specialties and a ton of canned goods. The also carry the standard rice varieties, culinary tools, and so on. I find it to be a bit on the pricy side but, if youre on their side of town and in a hurry, Tsai will do in a pinch.
Thanks for many Japanese food here! No need to drive to Novi. Ann Arbor Japanese can survive thanks to Tsai!
This store has a great variety of products if youre looking to make Japanese/Korean/Thai dishes at home. Theres a stand specifically loaded full of boba tea items, which is very cool. Lots of frozen and convenience items, but also fresh fruits and vegetables! They also have a great selection of plates, bowls, and cups. Highly recommend.
This is a much need Asian grocery store in the area.It has a good selection of the foods, snacks, skin care products, and foodware youd expect from an Asian grocery store. Its always clean, and the staff seem relaxed and welcoming.
Awesome selection. Was able to find Thai groceries that I’ve been paying way too much for when ordering off Amazon. Super clean. Friendly staff. Produce is way fresher than some other markets I’ve been to in AA.
For the size, this store does have a large variety of asian groceries, however it pales in comparison to some of the larger grocery stores further east. However, its location is super convenient for anyone who lives in the area!
Some of the workers were screaming along to spanish opera in the back lol. Place is sick though. Has everything asian I need from Ann Arbor closer to home.
Awesome little grocery store. They have everything from imported vegetables and fresh noodles to sauces and frozen dumplings. This is my new favorite store!
Absolutely wonderful Asian store. Immaculately clean, large and well stocked. This store has almost everything one might want although it doesnt carry much meat or fresh vegetables.
Love coming here.
I really like this shop & would recommend it to anyone who is interested in international goods & foods. Keep in mind, you will not be able to read any writing on many of their products & the couple of times I have asked the cashier for help, they also didnt know any Asian!! Might help to go with friends who can read Japanese. Fyi, one time I asked a customer for help, the customer was happy to tell me all about the product I was looking at.
A nice little market with a great selection. Offers Japanese Korean Chinese and Filipino food. I just wish it was closer to home but otherwise is a great little Market
Nice Asian market but staffs are old and pretty pricey
What a great store. Thanks for being here for us during the pandemic .
Always has everything I need
Clean and good choice in stock
Owner was really nice, helped us find things
Great selection of endless products, all at a great price!
A variety of products. I always love trying something new every time I go there! Mostly everything is affordable as well. I love it!
Just went to the store today and was disgusted to see them price gouging KN95 masks at 10 for $79.99 or 2 for $16. They are advertising they are N95, when they are not. N95 means they are NOISH certified and these are not.
First time there! Exceeded my expectations! Will definitely be back!
Wonderful people... Great selection
Everything to you need and fresh too!
Best Asian grocery Ive ever been too! The selection is amazing! Everything is reasonably priced too!
Very friendly and great selection!
So many choices! I found some favorite Asian snacks at a very fair price! Very friendly cashiers as well! So much variety!
Food was ok...but the workers there are doing everything they can to not work...one girl in particular, with a giant hair bun as big as her head, ignored me when I said thanks and later I watched her sweep the floor and go around stuff on the floor, clearly on purpose. The owner needs to protect his investment and get some supervision in there soon...
Good selection
The store has a very wide selection of products that you cant find anywhere else!
Great Asian grocery store! Love this place. Has everything you would want and the staff is great.
If you’re cooking Asian food, in Ann Arbor...
Very good Chinese grocery store for those special items you cant find at regular stores.
This Asian grocery is clean, well organized, and packed full of great items. Ive found everything from Tamari to Tamarind, Soy to Cooking Sake, Nori to Nanami Togarashi there and everything in between. They have an excellent tea section and a huge freezer section. Whenever I am shopping on that side of town I love to stop in to see whats new and buy a few staples. Really awesome place all around!
Selling food past expiration date. Many items missing the dates. Buyer be aware.
My favorite Asian grocery
This store is pretty pan-Asian in my opinion, Im not really sure if it has a primary country, but it definitely has lots of Chinese and Japanese, also it has Korean, and then it has some stuff where I cant recognize the writing. They dont carry a ton of produce, but they do have some, they have a lot of frozen foods, and they also have some cookware, dishes, and also even some health and beauty stuff.
Need more Japanese stuff and constant restock on the same items
Ive known and shopped at this store since it operated in the ex-KMart shopping center off Maple Road. Sadly, both the customer service and the selection have gone progressively south over the years. The original owners/family are from Taiwan- they are kind, helpful & respectable. Now it would the seem the batten have been passed to some folks from Thailand, with a handful of employees from south america. Nothing wrong with where they are from, except, the cashiers never look at the customers in the eyes, never say a word of greeting, not even a thank you, have a nice day at the end of any transaction. A few times Ive approached the employees in the back, asking if the bagged vegetable can be separated/sold in smaller proportions, they flat out said no- no explanation, no justification. Rude and Unhelpful! The shelves are slowly emptied out of traditional favorites from Taiwan and from Japan- instead they are taken over by stuff from mainland china and Thailand- the latter is such an oxymoron because there arent that many Thai in this area to consume all these goods- no wonder the expired shelve in the back of the store is always overflowing. Price of staples such as tofu, veggies are not competitive versus Meijer/Buschs.Yesterday half of the fridges along the wall were empty and there was a giant section of the floor tile missing in the store. Again, no apologies or explanation was given. One wonders why such a store bothers to exist at all.
Great and modestly priced selection of mostly East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) foods.
Nice Asian store with a small but very nice fresh produce section. Much nicer and cleaner than most other Asian groceries in the area.
Good variety of authentic foods. Doesnt get 5 stars because expired products dont get removed from the shelves. After coming home twice with expired food, I make a point to check each expiration date before leaving the store.
Very nice Asian grocery store.
Very large selection of products and very friendly people. I will return.
The fresh vega is good. But, lots of foods do NOT have any Expiration Date on it....and for those who have expiration date, many of them are already expired....Pay Extra Attention on the EXPIRATION DATE!
Great selection, staff is always helpful when asking for a specific product or help finding something when you cant read the labels (not in english). My kids love the unique candy isle.
Good selection of Asian foods. Always fun to walk through and see what they have.
On the last three consecutive trips over the last 6 months, I have inadvertently picked up groceries that were being sold past expiration date - IN SOME INSTANCES, OVER A YEAR!!!!!! The food quality is absolutely TERRIBLE, expired, and a public health hazard. Once, the meat freezer was dysfunctional, and meat juices were running all over the floor. I HOPE they threw out all that meat and didnt just let it re-freeze! PLEASE DO YOUR SHOPPING ELSEWHERE! I recommend Way 1 on Plymouth Rd. or Hua Xing Grocery off Washtenaw in Ypsilanti. It will be worth the extra drive.
Great selection of Asian groceries helpful service staff. Love the shrimp chips and marinated bamboo shoots.
For me a local grocery. Lucky me. Good selection and prices for Asian staples.
My only store for Japanese and Chinese. Especially tofu. Cheapest price you will find and good quality.
Theres a LOT of expired food in here, a workers kid running around playing in the aisles and they dont answer the store phone. The variety of products is nice and the prices are decent but its not a place Ill shop at again.
Amazing store. They carry practically everything you can think of in Asian food.
Super nice people
If other stores dont have the thing you are looking for this place probably will. Great selection, and hi-chew.
Great selection of hard to find ingredients for all types Asian cooking, at reasonable prices.
We love this place. Great selection and super friendly people!
Interesting store with a large assortment of Asian ingredients.
I have a love and hate relationship with Tsai.. Whilst i love the fact that its a stone away from where i reside, the easy parking and the wide range of asian items they carry, i cannot seem to overlook the fact that a handful of their items are way past their best by and expiration dates. I shop here often enough to realise that if they slap a price tag over the best by date, the chance of it being expired or expiring soon is high. I wished that the owners would be more diligent in taking those items off the shelf. That aside, this would be a good place to shop for your asian groceries.
My favorite asian market in Ann Arbor!
Nice and clean store. Seems to have a dizzying array of items.
Good products, nice employees, I go there for fun to get snacks and drinks from Japan. Love it.
Small store, but has plenty to offer from all over asian. They get shipments of oreos and kitkat from other countries that you typically wouldnt find at your local grocery store.
Would be nice to have someone there that knows the products.
Good selection of noddles, curries, teas and staple Japanese cooking items.
Great choice of different sauces and asian food.
Staff were just sitting around talking on the phone. Didn’t try to help me find Kung Fu noodles after walking past them a few times. I felt unwelcomed.
Clean and neat. Carries high quality Japanese and Taiwanese groceries.
Wide selection of Asian cooking products you wont find in your average grocery store. Most prices reasonable.
