When I called to ask if they were open, the owner immediately replied, “Fall through, boo!” And I knew in that moment, I was headed to the right place. From pulling up, to ordering, to sitting in the healing garden, and being accommodated thoroughly, the entire experience was aligned and appreciated.I ordered the BLT (per usual because it’s bomb), the Last Good Nerve Lemonade, An Apple Pie scoop, and a Triple Goddess Lemonade. This meal was everything I needed!! I’m 8 months pregnant, and everyone between the guests and staff, went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure I was beyond comfortable. I will always be grateful for that.Calabash Tea and Tonic is one for the books! Don’t meet me there, beat me there because it’s that great.

So I first experience the spots tea at Queen Mothers in Arlington Virginia. I was so elated by the freshness, and outright deliciousness of their products, I took a mental note to go to this spot!! @calabashtea Located at 2701 12th St., N.E. Washington D.C., right on the corner, this spot is emitting a Divine Energy on that whole block!! I had their “Panther Par-Tea”Half-and-Half, and their “My Last Good Nerve” Lemonade (cold) when I first tried them…STAMP!! Their products are made with attention to detail, love, and your well-being in mind… Trust that!!...On this trip I got quite a few things… so let’s get into it. Firstly I copped their Vegan BLT (pictured with their house made coconut bacon $6.99). STAMP!! It has house made coconut bacon!! It’s the BEST faux bacon I’ve ever had!!..Next I copped their Veggie Patty (pictured soy free with cabbage, corn, carrot, curry, onion, and garlic $3.99). DELICIOUS!! It reminds me of a pot pie...I also couldn’t resist getting their sweet potato pie bite & the cherry pie bite (both pictured at $3.99 each). For these to be vegan, they’re ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!..Their chilled tea’s, I got, were all $4.99 each (All pictured). The Triple Goddess Lemonade has Organic Jamaican ginger, Sri Lankan Tumeric, Thai Galangal, & South African Red Bush. It’s a immunity booster, & inflammation fighter. STAMP!!.The Love Potion Chai has a high grade Assam Black tea, Jamaican Ginger, Madagascar Vanilla, Ceylon cinnamon, oat milk, Love, and Chai spices in it!! It’s a feel good tea, a mental stability tea, a LOVE tea…oh and it’s ridiculously tasty!! STAMP!!.I got their Jamaican Ginger Sorrel too. This has organic hibiscus, Jamaican Ginger, Thai lemongrass, Orange Zest, Jamaican Spices, and LOVE!! It’s a detoxifier & a blood pressure regulator!! STAMP!!.Lastly I got their My Last Good Nerve tea…hot!! It has organic lavender, outstraw, Passionfruit, rosehip, LOVE, and I got oatmilk put in it. This tea eases anxiety…STAMP!!.The customer service in establishment is excellent. The store is clean. Their website is easy to navigate. Parking is decent. GO!! That’s it.#bigschlimsreviews

When you walk into this lovely shop, you are immediately welcomed with a burst of positivity energy. The tea gurus spent time with my friend and I to understand what type of healing we were in need of. He then suggested tea blends based on our needs. They are patient, kind and the teas & lemonades are very tasty

I wanted to give this place four stars but I am going to give this place another try next time, because I’m sure they were having a bad day. but when I was asking some questions I felt like the barista didn’t really want to help or explain any of the tea’s into detail or maybe he wasn’t knowledgeable about any of the tea’s. But I did like the vibe and how beautiful the restaurant was. I really love their love potion it’s my most favorite drink

I have been going to Calabash since Undergrad at Howard University, and their new location has the exact same flavors, service, and spirit of the other. Their tea does whatever you need it to. With a wide array of teas with medicinal benefits for your mental, physical and spiritual well being, and a long tradition of herbalists running the establishment.Come and be HEALED!

Calabash is one of my fav places in DC. The tea is amazing, the environment is warm and welcoming and the service is A+. They haven’t been names Best in DC for Tea for no reason. I recommend grabbing a veggie patty, a Love Potion or Last Good Nerve Lemonade and top it off with their new watermelon peach cobbler. Check out the tea to go, spices and my fav the vegan bacon. The outdoors patio garden gives all the feels. Hope you enjoy.

Attended a waist bead pop up shop here awhile back. Really love the intimate atmosphere. People from all walks of like (it seemed) congregate for good conversation, great tea and pretty good food. Vegetarian options available...some vegan options as well. Many different varieties of tea. Be prepared. If you don’t know what you want, they will do an “assessment” of sorts. Ask you what you’re thinking about or experiencing. This helps them design the best beverage for you. 😊 My only issue. Parking. But the Shaw metro is right down the street.

Going to Calabash is something I do INTENTIONALLY now, because I consider it to be an experience. When I think of a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy some good tea, this is my first choice. Yes was my second time there and it was just as good as the first. I love the way the hosts greet you: How can we heal you today? Theyre very patient with helping you choose a tea that serves your needs for the day. I love that, because it encourages mindfulness by helping you think about what you need in the MOMENT. Its a good thing that theyre helpful and patient because theyre a lot of options to choose from. However, it doesnt feel overwhelming because the hosts are informed enough to guide you to a beverage that you will enjoy. The environment is also a major part of the Calabash experience. Everything from the decor and design to the music and energy are a part of what makes the space feel warm and comfortable. I always see all different types of people in the space and everyone seems to feel like they are at home.I recommend you visit and try it for yourself. I even bought some loose leaf blends to enjoy at home and take some of the magic of Calabash with me. It wont replace the experience but it will hold me over until the next visit!

EXPERIENCE. I’d give 6 stars if I could. This place offers more than tea. When you walk in, they ask how they can make you feel today - not “what tea do you want?” The staff is extremely kind, friendly, and attentive. Believe the hype. The tea is great, but the experience is phenomenal.

What a refreshingly beautiful place to discover when strolling in the U Street / Howard University area. Besides the peaceful and relaxing environment that is so meticulously designed with Afro-centric themes, the food and drinks are clearly health-centered. When I was greeted for my order, the worker asked, how can I heal you. When paying, he said, the exchange of energy will be $5.25. The exchange was genuine and authentic. Try the kombucha and their home-made herbal healing teas ... or better yet, have them mix them!

I would consider myself a tea connoisseur because I am an avid tea drinker for the positive health reasons. Calabash Tea is absolutely a world-class tea destination for tea lovers. The owner is an expert in tea and wellness. You get more than just a cup, but an entire experience from the ambiance that makes you feel like you stepped into another country all the way to the friendly team that works there.I am a huge supporter of local and small businesses everywhere. Being from the DMV area, Calabash Tea is a small, woman-owned local business. She is a magician in holistic health. All I can say is whether you are passing through or live in the area, it’s a great space to sit and enjoy some serenity.

Excellent customer service! This pandemic has had such a horrible impact on pretty much everything; receiving mail and deliveries has been so frustrating, because the postal service has been so backed up.. I ordered some seamoss from Calabash Tea and it was stuck in the mail for almost 3 weeks - I reached out to Calabash regarding my order.. their customer service was right on top of it! Calabash responded quickly, and they sent me a new package with no questions asked - and included free tea! When I finally received my first order they gracefully told me to keep both orders. However, when I opened the packageI noticed the tonic had spilled in the package. The tonic did not have the plastic shrink band around it, so almost half of it had spilled. It is incredible and always even better than I remembered when I order it again. One note of caution: There is St Johns Wort in some of their teas and tonics. This ingredient can not only interact with some medications, but may also have negative effects on anyone with mood disorders. I do wish Calabash would either add a note about this, or make sure anyone ordering is aware. It is listed in the teas, but not for the tonics. I had to ask about a tonic last time. The server assured me there was no St. Johns Wort in it, but I insisted on reading the ingredients, and it was actually included.

If you need to get your inner vibe right, then this is the spot for you. Expert tea blenders serve dual roles: apothecary and bartender! The customer service is some of the best youll find in all of DC! Also, their vegan snacks are pretty darn tasty (try the vegan BLT). Since I work nearby, I get my healing fix on a regular basis. For that, I am truly grateful.

There is something exceptionally beautiful about this place. Everything is made with love and good intentions. The teas are absolutely amazing. My One Good Last Nerve is so refreshing, calming and healing. The food is delicious. Calabash is good for your soul. The owner and her staff are incredibly warm and lovely people. I cant think of a better place to go to relax, sip some tea, and enjoy some great conversation.

Extensive menu of teas but to get the best experience? Go to the counter and tell them how you feel and let the talented staff work their magic. They picked a pair of teas out that neither of us would have picked on our own and both were fantastic and exactly what we needed. Will be back soon.
