We came here around the time that they opened and they already had people ordering their delicious pastries. The lady at the counter was kind and answered all of my questions. The crack pie was delicious. We came back and tried three cookies and their cereal milk ice cream. The ice cream was raisin Bran flavored. It was so good and very nostalgic. The corn, compost, and the cornflake marshmallow chocolate chip cookies were good. The cornflake one was probably my favorite, but they were all really good.

If you like a mix of sweet and salty Milk Bar might be the place for you!A cute little bar-esque store front that could use more standing room and seems to be continuously busy. Counters don’t seem like they get cleaned often and perhaps many people just get food to go - but the inside can be a bit messy. None of the baked goods are baked in house it seems like they mostly just get shipments and serve those so eh.Milk Bars cereal milk soft serve definitely.... does not taste like cereal milk. It’s creamy and a little salty and oddly savory especially with the added “crunch” topping but I actually really loved that. To others it might be a bit off putting. The birthday cake was very standard funfetti. It came out of a freezer so wasn’t moist and fresh but was still good and the icing was pretty great. Not sure if it was worth the price as really.... it’s just a funfetti cake.Overall would come back for very specific cravings but DC is full of amazing bakeries so this is not my first or second or third choice.

I had heard a lot about Milk Bar. It was an interesting one-time taste. My friend and I shared grasshopper truffles $6/3truffles. They were okay. My friend had come before and prefers birthday cake truffles. The staff was friendly. The store is visually pleasing, but poorly designed for lines. There is very little sitting/standing place. It’s not a bad place, but it’s not quite worth the hype either.

YUM!!! First, let me say that another rating was absolutely ridiculous and dramatic. We had a good laugh over the extreme dramatics.Anyway, the chocolate malt cake is real chocolate. If you’re craving chocolate, not the ridiculously sweet chocolate, this is the perfect slice of chocolate decadence. The crack pie is so good. I was born and raised in Georgia where Chess Pie is a thing at every potluck. Christina’s Crack Pie is on the money. It’s a perfect combination of textures with the crumbly crust and smooth filling along with just enough sugar to remind you of a pecan pie. We also tried the compost cookie, the cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie, and the blueberry cream cookie. They are all delicious but our favorite is the cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow. It’s sweet with a hint of salt and crunch from the cornflakes. I’m so glad Christina decided to open a Milk Bar in D.C. just in time for our visit. Thank you, Christina, and your wonderful employees who kept the crowd flowing at 10pm!

This place is ok, its tucked away from the main momofuko restaurant so watch for its actual entrance. Once inside it can get cramped fast on a good day. The people are nice but the prices are gnarly. I guess you pay for the branding on top of whatever you order; personally my milkshake tasted like fruity pebbles + milk + white chocolate toblerone bar were blended together. It was good but I dont think Id want to pay that much for it as it amounted to the same as a bowl of cereal with milk and a straw.I probably wont be coming back but you should try it at least once.

We were inspired to come here from Netflixs hit show Chefs Table. The menu is limited in whats offered but mostly revolves around this Cereal Milk flavor of desserts including soft serve ice cream, cakes, milkshakes, cookies, and more.My wife got a soft serve ice cream and a slice of a crack pie while I got a large milkshake. For those 3 items our bill came out to $27 (including an optional tip). The soft serve ice cream features a unique taste that includes cornflakes sprinkled on top and below, as you would expect from having a bowl of cereal + milk. The milkshake featured the cornflakes mixed in as well as sprinkled on top.As the flavor is certainly different, I had a difficult time justifying the cost of these 3 items. The milkshake pictured in the attached photo was $9 and was essentially the soft serve ice cream mixed with cornflakes and in a larger cup. Thats the extent of the differentiation between the two items. The corn flakes were rather stale, Im not sure if this is the intention, and often enough would clog the straw. Eventually I find myself spooning out the ice cream with the straw and found that a much more enjoyable experience. Dessert shouldnt cost more than dinner. The location was kind of weird for us. We walked around the block for a little while until we realized that the milk bar is a small space leased from a larger restaurant.Ultimately this will be our first and final visit to the milk bar. We checked the box but the price is excessive for what you get.

If you take the time to read the reviews, you may be hesitant to check this place out. So, let me see if I can sum up my thoughts and opinions to assist you. 1. All of their baked good are shipped for the main store in NYC. So if youre looking for a warm, fresh baked cookies, this is not the place. 2. I found the cereal milk soft serve to taste exactly like the leftover whole milk in a bowl of Frosted Flakes or Captain Crunch. So if youre someone who likes to drink the left over milk in their cereal, than this will be right up your alley. 3. The cookies are decent cookies. The corn cookie is a dense cornbread-shortbread-sugar cookie. Nothing fancy about any of them, but they pair well with a cereal milk soft serve. 4. Prices are what you would expect for a store from NYC in the District of Columbia. Youre not coming here for a cheap cup of soft serve or a $1 cookie. Youre stopping in because you want to try cereal milk, eat a compost cookie, or try a birthday cake truffle from MilkBar. Come in with an open mind and enjoy a novelty treat.

Was really looking forward to going here after seeing the episode of Chefs Table on Netflix. Let me say right up front that the emperor has no clothes when it comes to the Crack Pie. It was fine, dont get me wrong... But I had very high expectations of it (I mean its called CRACK PIE for a reason, allegedly) and really was disappointed with it. I wouldnt bother ordering it again. BUT... the cakes... Wow. The cakes are like nothing else I have ever eaten. Im generally not a big fan of cake, but nothing I have ever had was like this. Just outstanding. And the soft serve is outstanding. This is not your ordinary super sweet Dairy Queen stuff... This is almost buttery... Excellent.

We came all this way, from the UK, for a piece of crack pie.It has been named ‘crack’ pie because it is addictive, allegedly.$6, that’s SIX BUCKS!, just 4 dollars less than TEN DOLLARS!, for a piece that was 5cm/2 inch by 8cm/2.5 inch. That’s my first problem! $6 for a slice! Not the pie!, just a VERY SMALL slice!Secondly, for $6 I was expecting this crack pie, to be the most awesome tasting food experience. It was ‘meh’ at best. Got a cereal shake and slice of birthday cake. The shake tasted fine - my biggest qualm with the shake is the straw. I understand the need to be sustainable and at the same time trendy, but there is a point where youre comprising the quality of your product. Paper straws can work for iced teas and water but for dense drinks like milkshakes its almost impossible to finish the milkshake without the straw collapsing. By the time I had a third of my (baby)shake left, the straw couldnt pull anymore of the milkshake. I had to use the collapsed straw like a spoon. Please look into other alternatives: bamboo straws, maybe sell stainless steel for your rich clients, or you know what, offer a cheap wooden spoon - wouldve worked great to dig for the cereal bits.Anyways, as for the cake, the sweetness was proportionate to the price. The star is solely dedicated to the cashier who kept their cool and handled a 45 minute queue without breaking a sweat. Youre awesome and you deserve better.

The only redeeming qualities about this place were the workers. The cookies were flavored horribly and had the texture of dry oat patties. The also some how lacked moisture. How they managed to ruin something as simple as a cookie is beyond me. Dont even get me started on the ice cream. I understand that it is a milk bar, but the taste of the ice cream was not worth the metro trip into the city. You could easily make that at home and even cough up $10 for ingredients. The price points were through the roof as well -- $6 for a piece of pecan pie (without the pecans) the size of metro card is horrendous. BE WARNED.

I recently purchased a chocolate malt cake from the Milk Bar for my fiances birthday. I have gone to this location several times to get ice cream, and have enjoyed it every time, even with the high price tag. I purchased this cake on Friday, kept it in the fridge as recommended, then took it out on Saturday an hour or so before serving. The flavor of the filling was good, however I really didnt like the cake itself. It was incredibly dry and crumbly. They clearly didnt use any simple syrup to keep it moist and it tasted like it had been in the refrigerator/freezer for at least a week. I was really disappointed about this, especially because their cakes are $49 for a 6 inch cake, almost double the price as any other bakery (6cakes range in price from $20-$30 at most bakeries). I did stop by to get this cake without ordering ahead, maybe if I did order ahead it would have been made fresh, and I would have gotten the flavor I wanted. This stinks because I was planning on getting the birthday cake one for my birthday next month. I may have to rethink that decision.

Woman working the counter was annoyed I rolled her eyes and walked away when we placed our order. We asked for a latte and she rang us up for a drip coffee and handed us out cups. When we corrected that we wanted lattes she said sorry I already rang you up for regular coffee and sat back down and returned to interacting with her cell phone.Ive gotten better service and better quality coffee from a hospital coffee vending machine.

I wasnt impressed. I had high hopes for what this place might be, but the ice cream really didnt taste that great. The location was fun and the store itself was nice, though cramped. I dont regret having gone, but I most likely wont do it again.

Saw these guys on the new season of Chefs Table and so probably like a lot of newcomers I had to try them on a trip to DC. Tried a few of the cookies, birthday cake shake, and corn flake milk crunch soft serve. I would say Milk Bar is innovative, but sometimes innovation does not necessarily lead to flavors justified by really high prices. The ~4oz milkshake was almost $7, for example. Quite simply, if you love drinking the [flavorless] corn milk at the end of eating a bowl of cereal, just make a bowl of cornflakes and save yourself a good bit of money.

Milk Bar - the mega engine that could! We were so looking forward to our visit to this place. We got there on a weekend afternoon with a couple of groups ahead of us. But within a minute of us getting there, it was as if the tour bus got there - we clearly got lucky!I ordered 2 soft serves - birthday cake and twist. We however, were given 2 milk and cereal soft serve. When I brought this to the attention of the person who served us the ice creams, she said that it was the correct order and this is what she had been told to get. I did remind her of my order and she said it would take 5 minutes to get us the correct order since the line was too long! REALLY! I have to wait 5 minutes to get my correct order since she messed up!Not wanting to wait for the fear of 2 revolting kids who were eyeing their ice creams, we took what she had made for us and sat outside by the water fountains to eat them. Kids did not like the ice cream and we thought it was just okay - too much salt in my opinion. This place may be great and super busy, but we came away disappointed

Expect to grab your order and go because this is a small space! Good service, the only problem during my visit was that the drink slip was missed by the workers so I had to wait longer for my beverage. When it was ready it was delicious! Consider grabbing one of the mixes to make at home!

Only 2 stars because they have an option of soy and almond milk alternative. All of their ice cream is made with left over Cereal milk... they gave a free sample to see if we liked it, it was not appetizing, really gross in my opinion. with the name milk they should offer regular ice cream for those who dont like cereal milk. other than that the lady who was taking orders was very nice and understanding.

Everything we are was very sweet, almost too sweet. The crack pie was really good, but also very sweet. Cookies were underwhelming. The compost cookie was good, the cornflake chocolate chip marshmellow cookie was chew to the point where it felt hard, and the blueberry and cream cookie tasted like the best part of the muffin. The birthday cake truffles were outrageously sweet. They smell like a little kids birthday cake, very nostalgic. I liked them a lot, but they were too sweet for the person I was with. Could eat half of one and be content.

No thanks! It tastes like ice cream without sugar. It is not an enjoyable flavor. Even my sweet tooth crazy kids couldnt eat more than a few bites. I ate what I could stand only because of how ridiculously overpriced it was.

Stopped in for some sweet treats and wanted to try everything but managed to hold back. The compost cookie - tasty but we liked the confetti cookie more, and even better than that the birthday cake truffles were a pleasant surprise. Thought these might be like your standard cake pops, but good flavor and tender.

The cereal milk soft serve is exactly as advertised--it tastes like the milk leftover after eating corn flakes cereal, which I found to be weird. The crafting of Crack Pie is knowledge akin to splitting the atom--the world will never be the same. I wish the line was shorter. However, note here are two lines. One into the restaurant and one into the Milk Bar. The restaurant serves all the Milk Bar desserts with the exception of the shakes. Pick whichever line is shorter, unless you want a milk shake. Does it live up to the hype? Not quite. But the hype was really over the top. I really wish the line was shorter.
