Milkbar is one of my favorite spots in DC to grab a treat. Ive been to this location several times now and always crave their cereal milk soft serve, Im also a big fan of their cookies. Their lattes are a little bit of a miss for me so I usually tend to avoid them.My most recent visit was pleasant and the staff were very friendly, even going so far as to offering us a sample of their different ice cream flavors. My only complaint is that they don’t openly offer glasses or jugs of just their cereal milk as id love to use it in a cocktail at home.Overall a great place to go for a desert and I’m sure I’ll be back soon.

Their small Milkquake (got the chocolate one) was the perfect midday snack to cool off after walking around The Wharf. Line was long, but moved quickly. If your favorite cookie isn’t in the display, ask at the counter, they will likely have it - product moves quickly and they’re probably too busy filling orders to re-stock.

The service is ok, fast but a bit careless. Love their cereal milk soft serve. The cake slice was a bit dry and the frosting was too much. Cookies are pretty good. The venue was not very neat. There was a table and some chairs at least but not the most comfy place to grab and eat a dessert.

FYI nothing here is made on site. $6+tax for a 2.4oz slice of pre-packaged pie. Food tastes fine but in no way commands the price. Small portions, indifferent customer service. Colorful atmosphere with a decent variety of sweets, but again everything is prepackaged and shipped from New York.

Just happened to see the story of MILK on Netflix and then walked right by this one while exploring the wharf, its brand new. Small little place serving all the normal stuff and k own for things being made with cereal milk which gives it a cool spin. Birthday cake shake is different and so good! Chocolate shake was also good but birthday cake is the way to go. Also tried the cake of course, light moist, sweet frosting, totally great and the colors and unfrosted sides make it so cool.

I got the Frits cereal baby shake. It was $6, way too expensive for that little shake. For what it was, it was ok. The shop is small with limited seating. I think it was a little overrated but I’ve only tried one menu item so far. The location could be hard to miss as it’s not on the mai strip. If you are at the corner of Dolcezza make a right and you can’t miss it on the right.

Milk bar at the wharf is a very nice location. If you havent been to milk bar before they have great cookies and soft serve ice-cream. You can get those cookies turned into and ice cream sandwich if youd like. They offer baking supplies and books as well. They also make milkshakes. I feel that it is a little expensive for soft serve.

Would give this no stars if I could. The aesthetic of place seems cool but don’t let it fool you. We walked in more than an hour before close and the employees were playing loud music, not paying attention, and seemingly closing up shop. When I ordered the worker literally asked me to repeat myself because he wasn’t listening. And the ice cream itself? Gross. I got the swirl of both flavors and it was nasty. I’m not ever known to throw away food yet alone ice cream but this went straight to the trash. Wasted $6 and got ice cream at another place instead. Don’t waste your time!

I learned about Milk Bar and Christina Tosi on Netflix’s Chef’s Table and was excited to check it out! The staff here at the DC Wharf store were very friendly and patient with me as I took in all the choices! I was honestly disappointed, it seems all hype. It didnt appear that they bake anything at this location. Straight out of a pop song, Milk is vibrant and full of color. They offer a variety of sweets in the forms of cookies and shakes. I ordered one of the shakes and it was good. Tasted like a drinkable cereal, which is what it was pretty much going for.The place was clean, and service was quick. They even have a bathroom! Its a good place to hang out post dinner or just as an afternoon snack to beat the summer heat.

In short, my criticisms are the taste of their desserts, staff that seemed indifferent towards customers, and their high prices given the serving sizes and tastes of their desserts. I gave two stars instead of one because their milk bar pie is good; although it’s not good enough to justify its price. My brother went to Milk Bar in NYC and highly recommended it to our family; specifically, he really liked the cereal milk soft serve and milk bar pie. This location did not live up to the expectations his review set. I don’t think this means Milk Bar itself is bad though. The location in NYC might be better than others outside NYC. The cereal milk ice cream I’ve eaten before tastes like the milk leftover from a bowl of sweet cereal, like lucky charms. Their cereal milk ice cream is slightly salty rather than sweet which I didn’t like. I would complain about the small serving serving size given its price, but I didn’t think it was worth eating, so I wouldn’t have wanted more. The milk bar pie tastes kinda like a pecan pie but much more dense which gives it a nice texture. However the flavor is not significantly better than a store-bought pecan pie (like from Walmart), and the serving was absurdly small compared to its price. The man behind the counter wasn’t mean, but he did seem disinterested in us. He spent a few seconds talking to and laughing with some women sitting behind us while we stood in front of him. I’ve already said enough about their high prices. I don’t think you should go here.

I was so excited for a highly rated dessert shop to open in my neighborhood but this place is gross! I went with my boyfriend and tried all the cookies and a milkshake! So sweet its sickening. The cake batter in the milkshakes made my teeth hurt and my eyes go cross. You can feel the sugar grits in your teeth as you chew the cookies! Save yourself the trip and just eat a spoonful of brown sugar at home. I think the crack pie servings are so small because otherwise youll go to diabetic shock. It was weird that they had cookie mix on display for sale. It made me realize that there is no on-site chef and I could make better cookies just by mixing from a box at home. Am I a pastry chef too?The prices are ridiculous! The cookies are cold. They are made in New York and shipped in stale every day. Cookies are meant to be fresh!!! These are gourmet cookies at gourmet prices and they were made yesterday??The name reminds me of Clockwork Orange and so did my experience.

The name of this place is Milk . Well, this milk was stale. Expired. Nasty.Congratulations, by the way. Im a DC native and this goes down as the worst establishment Ive ever had the unfortunate pleasure to visit. And it took 20 min.Terrible service. My husband ordered a coffee and it was so cold, it could be ice coffee. They heated it up in a microwave and left it there without telling us it was heated. After 10 minutes, we asked and it was cold again. This was strike 1. Disgusting milkshakes. I had to return the atrocious cereal milk shake. It was so mediocre, unnecessarily sweet yet had the most insanely disgusting flavor,EVER. This was strike 2. I asked for something else which I also thought was terrible (chocolate I believe) and this was the final strike. The people in the store all agreed too which was in itself baffling.Absolutely disgusting and they dare charge 10 freaking dollars for this garbage. I wouldnt recommend this place, ever!!!I noticed the owner replying with the copy and paste reply about fine products and ingredients being used .Well, look at your reviews. This isnt high quality when more then half your reviews are 1 star. Re-evaluate your product because its bad.

I’ve been to Milk Bar in the Chinatown area, next to Momofoku, and the original NYC location. This place has the basic flavors of milk bar, but if you want experience or any semblance of service, you’re better off at a Cold Stone or other dessert franchise. On top of taking 15-20 minutes for a single, small size soft serve, the cashiers were rude and unwelcome. I should never feel like I’m an inconvenience to someone I’m paying my money to for a good and service. Also, 15 minutes for a soft and serve and my order was wrong? No thank you, I’ll go to the grocery aisle for some Ben and Jerry’s.

I was so excited to try this place because of the hype but after this experience I wouldnt recommend coming here. Not only is it incredibly overpriced (even for DCs standards), but the cereal milk was beyond disgusting--- it tasted like it had been spoiled for days. I wouldve been open to coming again because I hadnt tried the cake, but the service wasnt up to par either-- the salesperson looked and acted so annoyed by us coming I didnt even bother approaching and asking about the milkshakes. If you want something sweet there are so many great places in Georgetown and the rest of the city-- dont bother with Milk Bar

Honestly, I went to Milk Bar with high expectations after seeing the Netflix documentary. We entered this location at the wharf and were barely greeted. There was nobody else in the store and at least one employee was just looking at her phone. The young lady at the register didn’t act like she wanted to be there. I was surprised at the prices being so high, and was disappointed that the crack pie was pre-packaged and cold.. and such a small slice! The soft serve was good. I really wanted an “authentic” experience but this didn’t feel like one. While I’m glad I tried it, as this was only my second time in DC, I unfortunately wouldn’t return. For management, I would encourage the employees to be more welcoming and enthusiastic. That lack of warmth set an unpleasant tone for me. I have been shopping with Milk for quite some time now and just was in love with the fruity peeble soft serve. I was sad when it was replaced but surprisingly, I liked their new compost flavor as well. The best thing i have discovered they offered was the Milk Bar Pie which was formally know as Crack Pie. It seems so simple but they flavors blend together so well that its almost euphoric. Every time I have visited the wharf location i have been greated and treated amazingly. MY first time i went in they had samples waiting to be devoured by the door and soft ready for sampling as well. At first it was overwhelming so many sweets to try at once. From that day one all it took was one free sample and i was hooked. #Highly Recommend #Delicious #Award Winner #WharfMilk #Milk Bar # Is #Life!!

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! I work in the area and the warf in SW DC is booming with new businesses and restaurants. After having a business lunch my friend and I spotted Milk Bar and wanted to know what “Milk” was all about. We walked in to the chic looking bakery (or whatever it is- I still don’t know) and there were no customers- just 3 bored employees that were clearly annoyed with our presence. I told them we had never been into the store, so could they tell us about it-history/concept. They blankly looked at us and one of them said, “There’s nothing to tell”. Okie dokie....they have baskets of unusual cookies (corn, “garbage”, double chocolate, and confetti). I looked at the menu and saw they had cake. I ordered a piece of confetti cake- I asked if it had butter cream frosting or cream cheese (not a fan of cream cheese on regular white cakes). After a long pause the sales person said, “regular butter frosting”. I also got a chocolate chip cookie with cornflakes and coconut. The piece of cake was pulled out of a fridge, pre-cut and pre packaged in a box that looked like it had seen better days (and I’m pretty sure- frozen at some point). The grand total was $14.00 (yes- 14.00 US Dollars!) The cookie was just OK- I can make better at home. The cake was a disappointment. It did in fact have cream cheese in the frosting- not heavy- but enough to notice. The cake was dry and the slice was the size of something you would get off a sheet cake from Costco. The whole experience was sad. Someone spent a ton of money on this business but no one is minding the store. What a simple thing to greet customers and share the story of your business- but I guess that was too much for the 3 bored employees to handle. If you want a FABULOUS cake experience go to Danielle’s Desserts on Constitution Ave or in Tysons galleria. That is a life changing cake experience. I discovered her place after seeing an article written up in Oprah’s magazine and Danielle’s is the real deal- great food great service. Danielle is at one of the stores every time I go and is always warm and friendly. Something that’s part of why I love supporting small businesses. As for MILK Bar- pass it up and pick up a gallon of Milk at the grocery store along with a cookie. The quality will be the same at 1/3 the price. I’ve never seen anyone make milk and cookies depressing, but this group managed to do it.
