Great french boulangerie! The service was great, we’ve ordered two special breakfast, including bread, butter, jam, eggs benedict, coffee and orange juice for 50$ total, with taxes. The food was great! Would recommend!

Slowly Pauls is opening upIt has a few customers and weekends people arrive for take out. Its still expensive and has serious competition for pastries by je ne sais quoi. There sandwiches are good as is their bread but they could be better filled for the price. The Napoleon is big and taste also palmera my favourites. The Croke missure is good looking but expensive and not as taste as I was expecting. Still a good location to sit outside and watch lack of traffic or a 20 veichel car cade of the president coming back from McDonalds. Relaxing atmosphere and helpful service doing everything to please.

I randomly stoped by. I was hoping to get a taste of home. As a French away from home its hard to find some good bread and pastries. I had the eclair (which Ill pass in the future) and a pain au chocolat (On par with France. very good). The highlight was the service provided by Ionela. She really went above and beyond into making sure I get a nice experience. Shes the one that suggested I get a pain au chocolat after being disappointed with the eclair.TLDR Great Service

Fantastic place. We just visited this shop for the first time and it was such a good experience. The employee that greeted us, I think the owner, came out from the counter to introduce herself to our 1-year-old who was all smiles with her. She then proceeded to take our order and show us all kinds of kindness. The service was worth 5 stars all on its own, but then we come to the atmosphere of the cafe - awesome. It was clean, open, and inviting. On top of all this, my Vanilla Latte was one of the best Ive ever had (and Ive had a lot). My wife also LOVED her Vanilla Cappuccino. We had such a great experience that were going to make sure to visit every time were in DC.

Chocolate Eclair was too sweet no flavor. Strawberry Coke was too dry and too sweet. Quiche was good. Croissant was good. Cappuccino was warm (room temperature)and dull espresso taste. I don’t mind to spend $40 for just coffee and pastries if the taste is very good. I was kinda angry with myself paying $9 /each for the cake and pastries. The service also wasn’t good. Yes. Paul is very famous but don’t know why. Never go back.

Basically whoever is managing this location this morning allows vagrancy at their door. A man approached us about money outside blocking our way in. I calmly told him we didn’t have any to give in which he retorted with threats and obscenities. When I have money im more than generous to our communities under served and unfortunate. Upon hearing his nasty words to my partner I became very upset and was very vocal when walking in. The sitting manager who wasn’t wearing a mask scrambled and stood up putting on her mask while her fellow employees at the table sat there looking at me like I was crazy. The manager said she couldn’t do anything about the man who was blocking the door and had items sitting on outside tables. In an attempt to walk away from the situation and calm down the manager didn’t reassure me. She said she couldn’t do anything unless the man was inside even though he was right at the door and using a table outside filled with his items. Rather than deal with the situation properly this manager threatened to call the police on both of us. Both. I am a long time customer of Paul both in dc and Paris and quite frankly I am appalled at how this situation was handled. I did nothing to harm anyone even though I was visibly upset. The man tried to come back in the store at which point my partner was so overwhelmed and hadn’t even been allowed to order that she had to leave the situation. The man cursed at her as she walked out the door and continued to curse at me. The manager asked me to leave and I did. I left hungry and frustrated feeing like my pleas were unheard and my European bakery experience ruined. Never in my life have I ever talked down to someone less fortunate than myself and somehow this man was allowed to make us feel unsafe because we didn’t have money for him. Sad to say I will never be a customer at Paul Bakery ever again. When I left the employees went back too crowding their table, maskless, and laughing at my misfortune.

I really like their sandwiches and coworkers like the croissant-coffee combo. id give higher rating but the catering can be bad (about 1 out of every six catering orders for us). The staff were friendly and the food was tasty. I dont think I like having a salad in a drink cup but maybe thats just me. The quiche was on point. Because they had Combos and specials it took me a minute to figure out what I wanted because when I said what I wanted, it didnt come that way. You could get half a sandwich with a salad but not just half a sandwich and it was happy hour so you could get a medium coffee cheaper than a small... so asking for half a sandwich and a small coffee was not an option.

Ive visited this Pauls frequently because its a convenient spot and I cant remember if my order was ever correct! I dont know whether the staff is untrained or underpaid, it appears theyre not concerned about making it a good experience. And my experience has been steady over a few years so I think it could be that because of its location, this place gets so much foot traffic that there isnt too much incentive to improve service. No complaints about food/beverage selection.

One of the best French bakeries in DC, and definitely the best French bakery chain in DC that Im aware of. They serve elegant food and decadent pastries. Watch out for the prices, though.
