When I was in high school 10+ years ago I used to come here and use your free internet, because of this I have a place to study and enjoy your great coffee, now 10+ years later, I’m happy that you are still here, so much good memories. I love the atmosphere and the coffee here, the server is super nice, highly recommended.
I walked in about an hour before closing time and there was plenty of seating available. My first impression was that this seemed like a good place to work given the copious amount of outlets available. I was honestly surprised by how spaced out all the furnishings were. Their long, worn wooden tables and benches could easily fit six people per side. Since it was so warm outside I ordered an Iced Mocha and thought it was pretty solid. Next time Ill probably try the Honey Cardamom Latte or Aztec Mocha. The only gripe I can think of is that WiFi is only free for the first hour. Whether or not this policy was set to generate extra income, disincentivize people from occupying tables all day, or something else entirely it definitely dissuaded me from staying very long this time. Maybe Ill come back next time with a textbook or drawing pad.
The coffee is great. The place is usually crowded especially on weekends but is still good for working.
I waited several minutes at the counter and didnt receive a greeting, look of acknowledgement, head nod, or even just a brief moment of eye contact. I caught myself checking to see if I had left the house with my invisibility cloak on. I dont like walking out of places without patronizing but they made it really easy. I looked up another shop down the street (Seattle Sunshine) and it was quite the opposite experience.
Fabulous Aztec coffee. Friendly service
Loved the cafe, and the coffee is good! Great place to study in the morning. Parking can be a bit tricky, but there are nearby residential spots.
Go to coffee! Great place to get some work done too
Always great. Baristas really take their job seriously, and the lattes are great. Unusual flavors like honey-cardamom and ginger mocha. If you go early the croissants are fresh out of the oven and delicious.
Are you guys ever open??? Your sign says open til 6pm. Just started a new job around the corner and wanted to make you my afternoon coffee before work place. Stpped by 3 times to grab a coffee and only once have you been open at 3pm..Now going someplace else simply because your sign does not reflect true hours.
Always a great coffee shop to sit and enjoy yourself for awhile! Also, you can get Chemex, french press, and many types of tea here. Enjoy ☺️
Yikes. This place has gotten pretty awful over the last few years. The baristas are all rude. The coffee tastes watered down. Half of the seating is gone. Pretty sad to see one of Seattles best coffee shops fall off so steeply. Ah well. Theres always Herkimer.
Nice spot to work from with a laptop. They have tables with a lot of power plugs and 3 hours free WiFi. Coffee was ok. They were clearly understaffed and to get some coffee it took a while.
You can get some great coffee here
I really enjoyed the Maya Mocha. And the place is huge inside, so I got a seat, even.
We used to live steps away from this Zoka location and even though we moved 4 years ago, the staff remember our kids. The coffee is always expertly crafted and while the baked goods have changed over the years, we can always find a delicious pastry. They having seating for 8 indoors right now.
Best latte Ive had for a long time! Great service, too.
Great Americano, try the Aztec mocha if you’re looking for something new!
Awesome is the word! Excellent service to boot!
A better alternative to the big chains
On saturdays and sundays i come here and i never have to wear my airpods cus the music is always good. I don’t know much ‘bout coffee but i like the cold lavender chai
Fantastic coffee and cheerful, helpful service. Love it- run, dont walk!
Always great coffee and nice help.
Coffee chia lavender tea latte was the bomb tastes great and a chill atmosphere as well.
An amazing study place with tasty coffee. Their WiFi has good speed so I could sit here all day. Pro tip: their savory meals are a bit pricey for the quality but theres a tasty donut place right across the street.
Not impressed. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and after 10 minutes I asked where it was. They forgot about it and I watched the gal toss it on the panini grill to warm it up. The result was a cold sandwich with cold egg. She handed me the sandwich after I said thanks, didnt say anything back and had a straight face as if I was inconveniencing her to get my sandwich when they were busy.Besides that the bread was dry and falling apart. The breakfast sandwich overall was pretty tasteless You can see in the photo.Coffee was honestly just ok. It has a weird flavor to it that I wasnt fond of. Wont be back and cant recommend the place.
Coffee was great! but charging wifi use after an hour....
Great coffee but they charge for WiFi after an hour of usage
Worst mocha I have ever had from a coffee shop. It mostly tasted like watery milk rather than coffee or chocolate.
Yum. Good
This was the first place I have been comfortable enough to sit inside since covid started. Staff was friendly and vigilant with sanitizing tables after customers left. Also enjoyed my chai latte.
I really liked lavender mocha and it came in a coffee cup (I miss these) instead of a disposable one. 4 out 5 because it was really, really, REALLY hard to find a place to sit and definitely theres room there if they put more chairs and rearrange everything. That place is packed with students!!!
Our go to coffee break while biking thru 520 bridge. I like how they try to keep it clean and with hand sanitizer on each table. I only order latte here, its not bad ;) the service is always nice and friendly
They have really smooth tasting drip coffee and it’s a big place inside
The best designer coffee in Seattle. The lattes are smooth, rich and no bitter aftertaste. The mocha has a homemade chocolate sauce made with real cream. Every sip can be cherished. There are also bakery items and sandwiches. The coffee shop is long shape. One half has the music playing but the other half is quiet with a gas fireplace. The shop is filled with natural light with windows the run the entire length of the store front. It is a place to read, study and meet with friends. Parking is primarily 2hrs but sometimes one can find a no time limit spot. I have traveled the East and West Coast and cannot find a smoother latte. Again the 5 is for the coffee!
Packed with people drinking in Covid timeframe. Pretty scary.
Great coffee options. Loved my latte. Big space with plenty of seating. Love that it has such a neighborhood feel even though I think it hasnt been open here for very long.
Warm atmosphere, diligent people who work on their computers, and nice drip coffee
This is a place with a relaxing ambience. Sometimes hard to find seating though. The coffee is top notch. They have also recently started loyalty program. (Order 10 coffees, get 1 free)
Coffee is awesome!
For the kind like me that prefers to work/study in a place that is not dead quiet but the noise doesnt bother you either. Youll always find people with laptops and books in solo or in groups. Its a Starback like place for good options of coffee and shakes and a few options of sandwich. Great relax ambiance makes you feel really at ease.
A cortado is not a 12oz. latte...
Quiet neighborhood. You get here before you know that you’re already here. This is your corner. Enjoy your cup and your moment here!
This place makes amazing mocas. The place itself is very comfortable. It offers different commodities, like chairs for couples, large tables for groups and even couches in front of a fireplace. Great place to do homework, read and meet to chat with someone. It is not super quiet nor it is loud.
UPDATED:The house drip is so/so (its house blend so no surprise) and the prices are higher than average, but the worst thing is thats its loud. I read that it was a great place for studying but the music, conversations, footsteps, and noises behind the counter really penetrate through my headphones. Sounds really carry here. That said, its close and reasonably spread out, which I like. I keep coming back to work. I just have to learn to accept the chatter over my ambient music.
Coffee shop is packed with local college students and local professionals so it has a great balance between young and old. People that work there are very knowledgeable about coffee and are open with giving you suggestions. It us also really large inside so there is plenty of seating. Would qualify as one of my favorite coffee shops in Seattle.Tip: if you are just reading a book or watching a video on your kindle grab one of the leather seats in the back next to the fireplace.
Good tea and coffee and pastries. Too many people camp out though, so sometimes its hard to find seats.
Since finding this place Ive become addicted. I always order black iced tea. It actually has a discernible flavor, unlike iced tea at most other places. This is also my husbands favorite coffee shop. Hes new to coffee and has found the perfect kind for him here. The staff is great. The place is huge and theres usually at least one place you can park. The only problem is the bathrooms. They stink every time. Its so gross. It doesnt look messy but its always stinky. I also wish they served more food here, like a soup of the day. I always end up here at in opportune times when I become hungry, but I dont like the few types of sandwiches they offer. I havent tried them; I just dont like the ingredients.
The u district location is large with plenty of room to study. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxing. An excellent study or meeting spot. The coffee was excellent as well. I got the atzec mocha which was a good balance of bitter and sweet. My husband got the lavender mocha, which had fresh flavors that were not overrpowering. The honey cardamom latte was wonderful too.
Pretty great coffee and it offers a large area to sit and there a plenty of tables to work at. The pastries are delicious and the atmosphere is great. Also their bathrooms are nice and clean!
Id argue that they have some of the best coffee that Seattle has to offer.
I usually get cappuccino or drip coffee and I love it! It was a perfect place for me to study during finals. I used to come here more often when I went to UW but I still stop by whenever I go to U-district area. I recommend to any coffee lovers out there!
This is my favorite coffee shop in Seattle. It has that nice cozy feel rather than the stark industrial decor a lot of places are going for, a real crackling fire in the fireplace during the winter, and the first sip of their lattes... I dont know what they do, but it tastes like magic.
Nice coffee both hot and iced. Easy enough to get to from UW.
Wow!!!!! Mad I never went before!!!! So good! Flakey crust. Cute decor. Great coffee selection. Hidden Gem! Will be back.
Quiet and cozy
Has excellent wifi quality and lots of space to work and meet great people.
The place for meetings north of the UVillage. Very limited food menu, extensive hot drinks menu, plenty of seating with a lot of elbow room. Lots of UW students, faculty, and staff hanging out here.
Great place to study or work. Big place with lots seating unless you get there at the busiest times. Havent tried the food, but coffee is good!
Coffee is excellent. Drinks can be quite expensive, but at least the taste doesnt disappoint. Nice big cafe. Offers several varieties of decaf coffee beans for sale, more than just your typical dark espresso roast, and recent roast dates to boot.
Great coffee. Great wood paneled ambiance. Bustling, but not too busy. Good place to meet somebody.
Ive gone here to get work done on the laptop, as the place is not over-run with noisy mommies and toddlers. Good amount of tables/chairs and electrical outlets. Coffee is not bad. Baristas are super slow, though.
One of my top 5 coffee shops in Seattle. Great for studying with lots of counter space and large square footage, free parking on the street, good coffee and chai lattes. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area.
A good place to hangout and study. While the place gets pretty crowded at just about all hours, there is plenty of seating and the food and drinks are also quite good!
One of my favorite cafes in Seattle. They have a great staff and serve ethically sourced, nicely roasted coffee. They also have a great selection of teas and pastries, but you have to get there sort of early for the latter.
Awesome spot! Great selection of items on menu. Has excellent wifi quality and lots of space to work and meet great people. Highly recommended.
Great coffee. Nice seating outside in the sun. Delicious ham and cheese croissant (but was cold inside so had to send back to re-warm)
Our familiar favourite meeting place: close to home, nice service, delicious shape coffee!!!
The best coffee; casual; busy; great location while i lived in the U-Village area of Seattle.
Zoka Coffee Roaster has excellent wifi quality and lots of space to work and meet great people.
Lots of room to sit and work. Great place for interviews and study groups. Be prepared to park and walk if youre driving.
A nice alternative to all the Starbucks in this area. Lots of interesting and different options and the ability to enjoy them in an open and uncrowded environment. Off the beaten path but still walking distance from UVillage. They have lots of seating and space for working out of the office and free Wi-Fi (6 hour limit per day).
Great for working delicious coffee
Great coffee, but I dont like these payment screens that guilt you into tipping a big tip. These modern day lattes are already outrageously expensive without adding another 20% to the cost.
I dont think Ive met a slower barista in my life... There is literally no line... Shes just like talking and dancing around and making a latte every 5 minutes.
Pricey coffee and it wasnt super special. Beans tasted a bit over roasted in the latte. The lavender wasnt very flavorful in the chai latte. The vegetarian breakfast sandwich was hot and delicious though. Cute fireplace and ambiance for a study session or catching up with friends. WiFi is pretty good there too!
The coffee was ok, and atmosphere good but both paled due to the pissy attitude of the staff. Honestly when I walked in my very first encounter before I even said a words was Jesus Christ... (smile) Ill be with you in a momentIt continued with a back scenes commentary on how much they didnt want to work and had personal issues needing to be tended to. I get it, its a job... but put on your happy face and greet your customers who are paying your wages and keeping your bosses business afloat and its a consumer based business
My favorite place to stop for morning cup of coffee, awesome environment 😊
Their stuff is decent, but their music is a little on the loud side, and its a little expensive here. Nice ambiance but the big central table is a little uncomfortable to sit at, since its got something that blocks your legs, and the washroom fan was broken and the trash was overflowing. Also, they need more food
Interesting selection of coffee and tea. Great service
I really enjoyed Zoka, but have a few qualms.Pros:- quick serviceGood coffeeGood, filling grub (can have a good lunch)Cons:A bit coldWiFi was dodgyNo cinnamon / nutmeg for coffeeI would come back to hang out but maybe not to do work because of WiFi:/
Good, but not fantastic. This is a very popular coffee shop with a lot of laptop warriors and college students. Coffee is decent, but more acidic than I prefer. Uses stampt as their loyalty program.
I love the coffee and pastries here, but its been frustrating the last few times that there are so many telecommuters that seating is unavailable. When I do get a seat with AC power handy, however, its a very productive work environment.
Best place for an artistic cup of Seattle style espresso drinks & hours of studying or work time.
Great coffee. Girl with punk rock bowling gray hilights and a nose ring was highly off-putting though. Maybe she was having a bad day or maybe she shouldnt be in retail...
Long line but worth the wait! Great coffee and great people.
