Where do you stop to take a breath after getting a piercing down the street? This place, lovely little shop and probably the best ice cream I’ve had in a year. Order “the bloody squirrel “ it’s amazing
This is the finest ice cream Ive ever had. Pure delicate flavors and not overly sweet. For their frozen hot chocolate flavor, Im certain they start by making milky hot chocolate, then churn it into ice cream without any other changes. It just transitioned to new owners, but theyre keeping all the old recipes and THEY EXPANDED THEIR HOURS! Its so much easier to get the best ice cream anywhere now.
Nice ice cream shop with simple flavors. Like the fact that they also have delicious cookies for sale too! I decided to get the banana flavor coated with hot fudge and topped with toasted almonds. I enjoyed the experience! Only this is that they only stay open till 6 even during the weekdays And close really early on Saturday. They need to stay open later if people wish to go to their ice cream store.
The ice cream is pricey but it’s probably because they don’t sell enough volumes to be able to afford to charge less as opposed to having a high markup (although this shouldn’t matter to customers per se). I like their sweet cream flavor as I don’t like vanilla and it’s hard to find a milky ice cream without it
Great little spot for creative Ice cream flavors and sweets. Set in the Dogpatch neighborhood, this airy ice cream store offers very good creamy delights and home made candies. This neighborhood is gentrifying by the day, and this place caters to the new families moving into this once desolate area.
Not a whole lot to choose from surprisingly enough since we went on a Saturday and 2 out of the 7 flavors were out. The flavors are subtle, borderline bland. The reviews here might have overhyped it for me.
Very friendly service, unique flavors!
Really special ice cream here. The Candied Lemon is very good, but I found myself rushing through that scoop to spend more time with the Golden Milk before it melted: exquisite spicy flavors with just a hint of heat from ginger and cinnamon that complements the creaminess of the coconut and cardamon perfectly. Be sure to make it before they close at 5pm, although they dont seem too anxious about kicking people out of their seating area if you arrive just before closing. Big picture windows look out on... well, not much, and the early evening sun can glare a bit. But its every bit worth it for this superb scoop.
Simply the best balance of unique flavors and incredible ice cream used as a base. not overly rich and creamy, but certainly not lacking.some ice cream will overdo the sugar or is like ice cream made from whipping cream or half and half. the straus ice cream is wonderful and the constantly rotating flavors are inspired. yes, it is creamy but not overly rich. yes the flavors are unique but balanced with the base ice cream.my favorite in the city.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous,How do you make your ice cream so absolutely impeccable?Your flavors are nuanced yet pronounced, so not-in-your-face yet distinctly and unmistakably recognizable. Your textures are always smooth and creamy, never icy, with just enough of a bite, and never gummy. I cant wrap my head around how perfect every single scoop has tasted. I tried so hard to savor every last bite.I am hooked. I am obsessed. I worship you guys. And please make more Bushmills, Brown Butter & Sage, Pink Guava, and Lychee Black Tea.
San Francisco is rapidly becoming a gourmet ice cream capital and Mr and Mrs Miscellaneous is a leading site for SF’s claim. Located in the Dog patch former Bohemian area of SF, the ice cream flavors change weekly with a preponderance of fruit flavors and salted caramel with interesting chocolate combinations. Only drawback is it’s open just 4days a week, so call before making the trek. BTW: great and diverse restaurants in the area as well as a fantastic butcher and also great candy confectionery shop nearby. Dogpatch should be on every tourist agenda!
It doesn’t have to be your birthday cake to ever get birthday cake ice cream! We had brunch in the area and I really wanted dessert so we eagerly waited at the front door (and took pics with the giant ice cream mural) until this place opened. We were the only ones for a little while so we were table to take our time and try a few flavors. Most were pretty good, but I knew I wanted the birthday cake when I laid my eyes on the sign. I loved that there were actual (chocolate) cake chunks in the ice cream. The ice cream was really good, but I wished it was birthday cake flavored instead of vanilla with sprinkles (though I do love a good vanilla).Overall, we added a waffle cone and it satisfied my sweet craving. Be prepared to pay SF prices for this ice cream cone!
I’ve been coming here weekly and forget that other people in the world don’t know how incredible this ice cream is! Small batch, rich, creamy, (but not too rich or creamy), unique flavours, not to mention the owner serving the scoops themselves - simply awesome. Worth the travel if you don’t live in the neighbourhood.
Wow my girlfriend and I walked for an hour to get here but it was so worth it. Thick consistency and rich bold flavors make for some amazing icecream. Had the pandan and matcha. Both were brilliant and had some of GFs chocolate chip which was so rich it tasted like it had cookie dough in it. Prices are steep but so is quality. Well worth it in my opinion. On par with bi rite for best icecream in SF.
Hands down this is the one and only well also Humphreys on Harrison and 24th. But any way I only eat at this ice cream spot not even store bought ice cream I eat so that should tell u something 😋 yuuuummmyy and the staff is great nice and clean go support this place believe me you will love it.
Incredibly delicious and yummy ice cream. I try to always keep a pint or two in my freezer.
The Fruity Bebbles flavor is my favorite. Its like the remains of a great bowl of cereal where there is crumbs of the cereal floating around in the milk at the bottom of the bowl. They dont always have it.I also love the Frozen Hot Chocolate.
Ice cream that wiles at a price that does too. It’s expensive, but the experience is worth it. Do you know what Sandalwood ice cream can taste like? I do. I believe their flavors rotate so I’m sure it gets weird sometimes. Embrace it, you won’t regret it.
Always the best. Rotating options with incredible flavor.
Amazing ice cream, adorable homey spot that’s open for takeaway !! Got the basil chocolate chip in a house made cone- was so good I got a pint of the French lavender to take home. Highly recommend.
Their flavors are always delicate yet interesting and delicious. Service is always top notch and they receive you with a smiley face. My favorite ice cream place in SF.
Holy moly the Butter Toffee is my new fave. 2nd is Frozen Hot Chocolate :)
Its a simple, excellent place that makes sometimes classic, sometimes clever, but always balanced ice cream. If I *had* to pick a drawback, it would be the crowd in the summers. I miss the days when nobody knew about this place, but Im glad they have the business.Go there. Eat ice cream. Get freshly made waffle cones, then hit the neighborhood for dinner (pressert is better than dessert...).
Arrived at seven, it wasnt crowded. The place has an awesome atmosphere. Kinda of like a restaurant in Los Angeles I loved to visit.
I tried two flavors: Jasmine Green Tea and Frozen Hot Chocolate. Both were really well done and tasty. Both flavors seemed very balanced and Im glad I was advised to check this place out 😁👍
Solid performance year after year. Old style ice cream stand with good selection and service. We go when we can.
Spotty hours but the ice cream is the best in San Francisco. The flavors are always changing, and always good, so it never gets old either!Their cookies are top notch as well!
They are only open until 6 pm.... So theres no after dinner ice cream or hey lets walk the dogs and get an ice cream after work. Who cares if there ice cream is delicious when they are not open to taste.
My favorite ice cream place by far! The couple who owns it are super sweet. They are constantly changing their flavors. Make sure to try any of the their tea infused ice cream. The Mrs. loves tea and always has great flavors to combine. Also, check out their homemade salted caramels.
Quite disappointed. We ordered the matcha, Irish cream and toffee. For the price they charge ($5.5 for once scoop), I was expected something outstanding. Instead, it wasnt good: flavor was off (sometimes, it barely had any), and commercial ice cream would have tasted better. Dont really recommend.
Amazing flavors and wonderful owners.
This is probably my favorite ice cream shop in SF! My boyfriend and I had our first date here, so it holds a special place in my heart. The people here really care about the quality and flavor of their ice cream. Ive been to Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous several times and have never been disappointed! Their flavors change every day, I think, so its hard to tell you what flavor to get. Honestly, sample a few and you will realize that you cant go wrong. The ice cream is creamy and the flavors are always really well done. Its never overly flavored and you can tell the flavors are real and fresh.I do wish they were open later during the week, but its all good.
Very popular place on a hot day in San Francisco! I had the citrus crisp, its citrus ice cream with little balls od honeycomb in a chocolate coating I think? It was good, not overly sweet!
Im sure many people will really enjoy this place. Probably most people in San Francisco. The type of person who wants all-natural ingredients and no artificial colors or flavors. Im that person a lot of the time. But when it comes to ice cream, I want bright colors, I want chunks of stuff in there. And if Im going to pay $5.50 for a cup that is the size of a babys fist, I want to be really, really impressed. This was probably the most disappointing ice cream experience of my life. A big piece of my inner child died today. But my inner child may not be your inner child. Your inner child may prefer to be unscathed by the cancer-causing evil that Those Other Ice Cream Companies put in their product. My inner child eats carcinogens for breakfast, and expects nothing short of Lucky Charms unicornrainbowsplosion ice cream with All Of The Chunks. So if your inner child is a fragile hipster nymph who does not eat of the unclean, this is five stars all the way for you. But for mine... Three was the best I could do.
Really exceptionally good ice cream.
Good but not amazing. Great flavors but they didnt get the texture quite right. Definitely on the lighter end of the ice cream spectrum in terms of decadence. I feel I have to order toppings.
I love this place, I love the flavors they have created and I love how real the owners are; its a San Francisco business you can feel good about supporting. The line can be long but inside theyre giving everyone a chance to pick out the perfect treat. And the ice cream? Its my favorite in town. Theres almost always something new and exciting to try but I trust them and if I like the sound of it I dont even need to sample before ordering. My favorite has probably been the mind-blowing basil ice cream I had one afternoon last year... the perfect balance of savory and sweet. I almost wasnt sure if I had had dessert or a salad. Oh, yes.
Nice, rich ice cream but not worth queuing too long for. Flavors werent as out there as some of the other ice cream places in town, but the creaminess was excellent. However, Ive never seen it without a line out the door (and 20-odd minute wait) on weekends, and Im not sure its special enough to queue for. Note you can only sample 3 flavors (fair enough to keep the line moving) so choose carefully!
OhhhMG!! PRICEY BUT SO DANG WORTH IT!! MUST try when in San Francisco!Downside closed Mon & Tues AND close at 6pm WAY TOO EARLY!STAFF is nice! Great corner location. Parking is a little difficult but not impossible. Public transportation stops close by.
Favorite ice cream place ever. Great neighborhood spot. Love all the flavors and the texture of their ice cream is perfection. Wish their hours were extended but hey who wants to work late.
Incredible flavors -- sweet cream and jasmine have been my favorites! Really rich and intense without being overly sweet. Quiet neighborhood, modern interior, great for a catch up with friends or after eating at one of the great nearby cafes and restaurants!
I’d love to try this place but I’ve tried to come here 4 times and they have always been unexpectedly “closed”. Please stick to your hours of operation.
One of the top 3 ice cream spots in the city, hands down.
I walked in for a scoop and bought six pints because: A. I couldnt decide which one to get and B. Im a glutton. We got gianduja, bourbon cream, pistachio, walnut fig, almond toffee and amaretto. Very rich flavors, creamy texture and smooth mouth feel. Loved it so much we made plans to come back next time were it town
One of the best ice cream places in SF! It has a changing seasonal menu based on high-quality local ingredients. The burnt sugar ice cream was out of this world! M&MM and Bi-rite are my favorites in the city.
Service is always super even when they have a full house. There was quick, helpful, and friendly service.
Have very interesting flavors. I like every single one. Cant go wrong with this place
Every time I stop buy the flavors are different. Today is was Pink Guava in a hand made sugar cone. They use one of the best milk suppliers America has to offer: Straus Milk. Thats why their ice cream is so yummy.
After trying and loving all the best ice cream shops in SF, this is another level up. So creamy and delicious. No other ice cream compares now.
SF is definitely not lacking in great ice cream shops! Definitely try the jasmine tea and coffee. If youre feeling adventurous you can also try their more out of the box flavors like orange chipotle, burnt sugar, candied violet, and beer flavored ice cream. If youre sweet tooth hasnt been satisfied after ice cream, try one of their delicious cookies or brittle.
Always awesome here. Staff is great as well. A must stop if you want amazingly fresh ice cream.
The places is always packed (a sign that it’s delicious). We all had blackberry yogurt. It was light and tasty!
This place would get 5 stars if it were open past 6PM. Its a pain to get to and it seems like its never open when I actually want ice cream.Rants aside, the ice cream here is fabulous. I had the Anchor Porter - which I was suspicious of at first, but it turned out to taste like sweet beer ice cream in the best possible way.Ill definitely be going back - at some point midday on a weekend when I happen to remember that its open. :)
Delicious ice cream shop with amazing waffle cones! If youre in the Dogpatch area, this is a stop you MUST make. Flavors change daily, but I can guarantee whatever it is you get, it will taste delicious! You cant go wrong with vanilla either.Expect a long line, but know that it is worth every minute!
Awesome ice cream place in the Dogpatch. Unique flavors including burnt sugar, brown butter, and cardamom. So good! Walk into the place and automatically get swept up in the smell of fresh cones and fudge. Definitely worth the trip.
Its new, Its hip and its Ice cream! The ice cream beer and guava got me hooked but you can never go wrong with the chocolate for a more traditional choice. Looong line, small place which is why its charming and only open on certain days, hours. Please stay small and humble!
Yummy ice cream shop in Potrero Hill with unique flavors. The ice cream is full flavored and rich, not icy or watered down like some other local ice cream spots. Lots of seating in a bright and modern setting.
I wish I could give this place 600 stars, because thats roughly how many handmade flavors they cycle through in a year. My girlfriend loves this place even more than I do, so much so that I might have to file a second mortgage on my nonexistent San Francisco home to afford her 10 pint a week habit.
Very delicious. Next time Ill be back with my relatives. The prices are good for what you get.
Love this place, super friendly folks and delicious milk and cookies ice cream (when they have it!). PB malt balls are great as well.
Im nit being hyperbolic when I say this is the best ice cream Ive even had. Yes, Ive been to Humphreys and had secret breakfast, and yes, Ive also been to the other famius ice cream places in SF. But, and this is not a drill, this place is amazing. Constant rotating flavors, about a dozen at once, are always offered. The texture is smooth with a nice bite, and the flavors are clean and come through strongly. The Jasmine tea really tastes like Jasmine, for example. Go here now!
Hands down, this place is king for the savory then the sweet. There are other famous ice cream shops and as a life long resident connoisseur, this place is perfect for the unique flavors and rich ingredients. Treat yourself !!
The first time I came here I got the grapefruit ice cream. It had candies grapefruit peel. Yum. The second time we got a Sunday with vanilla custard and Nutella, covered in whipped cream and nuts. Theres a steady like of customers coming and and the seating works here because people eat and go. Not sure what you want, ask for a taste. The people here are friendly and quick to accommodate. Oh and get some brittle or cookies to go. They have a good pumpkin seed brittle. My daughter is allergic to nuts and shes so happy to get this brittle.
Out of the most recent wave of high-quality ice cream shops to hit the city, Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous is probably my favorite. The flavors are creative and unusual (Candied Violet, Earl Gray, Orange Blossom, etc.) but still probably a little more approachable than, say, what you might find at Humphrey Slocombe.Service is super friendly, and the couple who owns the place always seems genuinely happy to see you there, even when the line is out the door with annoying customers like me who keep asking for multiple tastes of everything before I order. I promise to stop doing that.
The hot chocolate ice cream is really good imo as well as the lavender flavored one.
Ive never had anything here that I didnt enjoy. From all their flavors to their goodies like peanut butter malt balls (which are so good I tried to hide them from my girlfriend.) You just cant go wrong with this place.
Bi-Rite Creamery makes good ice cream. Humphrey Slocombe makes better ice cream. Mr. & Mrs. Misc. makes incredible ice cream that trumps both of those SF staples. This husband and wife couple know how to make some delicious dessert and theyre both incredible people as well.I had been waiting forever to try this place and when I finally got the chance I couldnt control myself. I basically had one of everything on the menu. At the time I had the BallPark which was a mixture of Anchor Steam beer, roasted peanuts and chocolate-covered pretzels. AMAZING. And I hate beer! This place is truly magical and I hope that the hype continues to grow.
Like many ice creameries in San Fran, Mr and Mrs. Miscellaneous has a lot of unique flavors of ice cream. Try out a new flavor, and mix it with a more traditional flavor. You really cant go wrong with any of them!
Best ice cream I’ve had anywhere in the Bay Area. Had the black tea lychee and cookies and cream and it was delightful 😍
In a town full of ridiculously gourmet ice cream, this is the king of all establishments. Had the malted milk. It tasted like the inside of Gods whoppers. The wife had lemongrass and candied ginger, also phenomenal. Im riding an intense sugar rush right now, and I wouldnt have it any other way.
Not my style: To expensive and I did not liked the taste at all. The home made cone is delicious but it is not worth $1 extra.
Best ice cream in the Bay Area and San Francisco. The thicker texture and high quality non-boring flavors are worth every minute spent in line and dollar spent on scoops :) Ian and his wife are ice cream wizards! Dont miss out on their new flavors, subscribe to their Facebook!
Amahhzing ice cream! The best ice cream in the City for sure! The menu changes all the time. Even when youre sitting down finally satisfied with the flavor you meticulously chose. With an erase of the chalkboard, another flavor is replaced and it sounds better than the one you already have in your hand. Nothing to be done, except eat quickly and buy another one!
Fun day out with the kiddos and hubby. Great ice cream no parking but worth the walk
One of my favorite places because parking is considerably easier than other creameries. Rotating menu with options such as chocolate basil or red bean ( my fav). Pro tip, buy a pint. ;) Great place to go after brunching in the dogpatch.
Get their ice cream, especially the booze inspired options. Pink Squirrel is one of my favorites.
Food was so fresh. The service here is attentive.
Homemade ice cream! If you get there early you can get that same day fresh made batch and its all organic. Lines can be out the door rain or shine. Yay!
I really like the rotating, creative flavours. Always something fun to try and super delicious
This is the very best in home made ice cream. The owners are friendly and the service is great. This place can get pack anytime of the day!
The creamiest ice cream ever. The Creme de Menthe tasted so fresh and clean. All made on site. Flavors vary. Best ice cream in SF.
My friend, Michelle, introduced me to Mr and Mrs on my birthday. That day we had the porter ice cream in a cone. Amazing and rich! I returned recently for the amaretto and birthday cake with sprinkles flavors. Both times were consistently good, with fast and friendly service. My only criticism is the layout of their dining tables and chairs. When its crowded, its challenging to navigate the long rows. If they were to break up the communal tables into smaller groups, you could weave in and out as needed.
Strawberry Biscuit, Brown Butter, Celebration Cake (chocolate chiffon cake with sprinkles), Chocolate Chip, and toffee chips were only a few of the tasty treats my Mister, my Mom, and I had at Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous. Founded and run by a wife and husband team, this place brings people in droves (even on chilly days). The ice cream is made fresh. Although a bit out of the way for some folks (in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco), its totally worth the trip. MMMs also sells homemade candies and marshmallows. Sweet place if youre sweet tooth is screaming at you for something, well, sweet.
The ice here is amazing but my vegan friend couldn’t eat anything because there were no vegan options. This was disappointing because she had gone there before and they did have vegan options but this time they didn’t
Such cool flavors! Super yummy! Loved the lotus cream
Everyones reviews basically says it all. The ice cream tastes REAL, and I mean home made, creamy, gooey ice cream. Not too much sugar and a strong flavor to each option. All my friends who are local say this is one of their favorite places in all of SF despite it being sort of far away and located all the way in DogPatch. Definitely worth the trip!
Must have ice creams served here. The flavors of ice cream are unique here. Make sure to check the days they are closed cause they dont have regular opening hours. It would be good to ensure you get there on the days they work.
The ice cream here is so good! Had the Young Coconut flavor, amazing!
Besides having a tongue twister of a name, but that shouldnt distract from its just-the-right-sweetness ice cream that easy competes against its SF rivals, Bi Rite and Humphrey Slocombes. Located in the up and coming Dogpatch neighborhood, it makes a great companion to brunch at the nearby Serpentine. Theres an ever-rotating selection of yummy original flavors, but I especially liked the Earl Grey tea and Orange Honey.
Great ice cream, flavors are interesting and unique. We love this place.Only drawback? Early closing times, particularly during the summer :-(
Not a whole lot of atmosphere, but delicious ice cream with a bunch of original flavors. I tried the lemon poppyseed, chicory coffee and cookies & cream. The cookies looked yummy too!
