Nice and calm place to hang out for coffee or a drink. Went in the evening. Open till 2am. I had the egg sandwich. Over easy egg with tomato and bacon, on a nicely toasted Texas bread. Very good! With a side of potatoes. Super nice staff! A walk on the near by trail made for a great evening.

This place was so good. We got the Overnight French Toast and the Country Style Benedict. Between four of us we tried a few cocktails but the grapefruit mimosa was definitely the best. I loved the style of this place and the food was so good and a great way to fuel up for our Missions ride.

Would agree with other reviewers fantastic food and coffee, would be 5/5 if they had any semblance of customer service. In addition to the excellent food they have a 10 percent military discount. In regards to the service - seating is first come first serve which I like, but you stand in line for 30 minutes waiting to order because they don’t tell anyone you have to come up to the counter ready to order. After ordering our food came in 15 minutes apart as well which was unfortunate. Initially I thought they were just short staffed, but my experience was consistent with other reviews. I would recommend the owner really focus on improving their customer experience and it would be consistent 5/5 I suspect.

Absolutely amazing food! The staff is a tad bit disorganized, but I understand they are not working with an entire team at the moment.The indoor restaurant seating fills up quickly, and there is no shade on the outdoor patio, but if you get your food to go, there is a park with picnic tables right across the street with shade from the trees.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I have been going here for the past seven years. It is a coffee shop, bar and bistro all in one! During the day you can stop by and sit indoors or on the porch and work on your laptop while sipping on a coffee, tea or old fashioned 😉. As the sun goes down it turns into a fun hip bar with live music on certain nights. The bar has beer, wine and liquor. Parking is with the Blue Star complex and is free (just watch for no parking or residence only parking signs in some areas).

Very good iced coffee and iced matcha. Nice atmosphere and overall feeling. Restrooms available and they were clean. The majority of the staff we interacted with was very nice and helpful. Id recommend visiting for good coffee and tea.

Havent been here since 2017 and this place still doesnt disappoint. I only used to come here for coffee and cocktails, but this was the first time eating here and it was so good. Had a few cocktails and coffee. But this veggie scramble, had to add meat but so damn good! Staff was very friendly as well

It was a really good place to sit, chat, & eat. Its lively & a little loud but not the loudest. The food is delectable. The wait was between 35-50 minutes & we got called 37 minutes into waiting. So not bad at all. The servers were very nice & fast. The environment is friendly & something different. If youre looking for a wake up brunch this is your place! ☀️

The atmosphere is nice. The Nector mojito was very good however there were flies everywhere. There were trays that had been left on the table the entire time we had been there which was over 40 minutes. I got the southwestern skillet and it was all egg. It wasnt well seasoned and just didnt taste good.

This place is more of a study or meeting spot, not a restaurant. I do not recommend coming here just for breakfast. The classic skillet was small and cold. The fried egg on my cold country style Benny was undercooked. I also do not recommend getting coffee here, since they do not hold any sweeteners other than sugar packets. On top of that, the toilet was full of 1&2… all for 50$

Came here for the first time with a group of friends who have been here before. We came for brunch around noon. It was about a 20 minute wait but went by pretty fast. I had ordered a Long Island iced coffee. Which was amazing good and definitely strong. You can only order a maximum of two but after one I was already feeling the alcohol. I also ordered the classic skillet that was amazing and so fulfilling. It had a lot of flavor bacon eggs cheese and potatoes. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and a pineapple mimosa . She said the mimosa was great but the breakfast burrito didnt have too much flavor so the salsa hope to add what it was missing. This place is definitely something different and everything is made fresh. They also have another area behind the restrooms that seem more of like a nighttime vibe. They are open until 2 AM.There is also a lot of people there with laptops kind of like a Starbucks

I went to Halcyon this past weekend for brunch with one of my friends. This was my first time ever going to this restaurant so I wasnt really sure what to expect.When we arrived, the place was crowded. Absolutely no room to park in the small parking lot behind Halcyon. Eventually, we parked on the street in a nearby neighborhood and just walked over. It wasnt a terrible walk so we honestly didnt mind. There wasnt a line at the front so someone was immediately able to seat us. The only available place for us to sit was outside at the tiny bar, which we settled for. Eventually, when one of the tables freed up my friend and I migrated over to it and took a seat there. We still ended up sitting outside but neither of us minded since the weather was just PERFECT.We were quickly served our drinks after we sat down. I ordered the cappuccino and my friend ordered the Long Island Iced Coffee. The cappuccino was honestly one of the best that Ive had in a while. The flavor was good and intense. I also loved how they put a bear on top of my drink. It looked almost too pretty to drink! The Long Island Iced Coffee was also great! It was pretty strong but the flavor was so nice that it didnt really matter.The food took an oddly long time to arrive after we ordered it but it was so busy that we kind of understood. Luckily, we brought a card game to play while we waited so it didnt feel like forever. Eventually, our food arrived. I ordered the Overnight French Toast and my friend ordered the Eggs Benedict. The Overnight French Toast was not what I was expecting it to be, it was honestly better than what I was expecting. It was fresh, and well-presented. The cream cheese on top was amazing. It wasnt too sweet, but just perfect. The fruit on tp paired perfectly with the cream cheese topping. The chocolate on top was hidden beneath the cream cheese so it surprised me but it was an amazing addition to the dish.The staff at Halcyon were friendly but not exceptional. I liked their atmosphere and the DJ that they had playing music during their brunch hours. I am also a huge fan of their dog-friendly atmosphere. I just wasnt a fan of their small parking lot, and their prices are a bit high for what theyre offering.Overall, I would highly recommend Halcyon to anyone looking for a cute place to go for brunch. You might have to splurge a bit but it is totally worth it.

Like other reviewers have noted, the Long Island Iced Tea (or coffee) leaves you feeling extremely good after just one drink. They put basically all the types of liquor in it. Love the vibe of this place, its definitely a mood Ive missed during the pandemic. Servers are very good and everyone wears masks and is safe. Love the view of the Riverwalk from the rustic bar outside.

This place is dope I enjoyed the eggs 🥚 Benny w/chicken 🐔 even got some alcohol added to my drinks! Yes there was more flies than in a usual restaurant but I sat outside so that was a bit more expected out there. Also the bottom of the bar was noticeably dirty. Maybe a steel toe kick or power wash.

I have not eaten here yet, but Ive stopped in for coffee and work space a couple of times and its a really lovely spot. Right in the middle of Southtown, convenient to Blue Star and Stella and a few other great places, pleasant staff. The internet access was very spotty on this last visit so working there might be a little iffy, but its a great place to meet friends or hole up with a book for a while.

Had brunch here on mothers day, solo (my mom passed on a few years ago). For such a busy day the service was pretty good, breakfast burrito was on point. The mimosas seemed a tad warm especially on a hot day, but rectified with a little ice. The mothers day surge may have been a factor so benefit of doubt. The waitress was a sweetie, and smiled every time she spoke with me. She had a great bubbly demeanor despite being slammed. It was a pleasant experience. I will definitely be back.

I love Halcyon! Their coffee and food are tasty and its located right in Southtown, one of the best neighborhoods in San Antonio. A great place to grab a bite or some coffee while youre strolling along the Riverwalk!

Much better as a social place, definitely don’t recommend for studying as it was super loud. Also I had to wait 30 minutes just to order a coffee. It’d be a lovely place to have a coffee if it wasn’t so busy

First off, our waitress, Sydney, was exceptional and was pending to all our needs. Overall very good service. The food was very tasty, I ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut Pancakes. Definitely recommend to anyone who loves brunch.

Overall experience was so-so. Didn’t mind waiting for a table inside, group that was sat after us had drink orders in and delivered before our waitress introduced herself. Once she stopped by she did a good job. Took about 10 min to get the Vietnamese coffee, good choice.My wife ordered the Country Style Benny. Chicken and biscuits were great but the eggs were cooked hard and the gravy had broken. I ordered the Southtown Benedict with bacon instead of salmon. Again, egg yolks were poached hard and the hollandaise sauce was almost non existent. When we let the waitress know she did give us a 10% discount. Food served on small cookie trays covered in paper, makes it hard to cut moist items and not get paper in your food. Staff was all very friendly and the ambiance was nice.

I regularly grab coffee and food at Halcyon then take my bike down the river walk. This last time I did it, a guy confronted me in the parking lot threatening to tow my car. If I can’t utilize the parking lot while patronizing Halcyon, I will never come back and will take my business to a better coffee shop in town.

Nice spot, free wifi, nice ambience overall, one of the employees (long hair) was super nice, the other not so much, food was GREAT, the coffee (house) IMO not so much, maybe the flavored or custom options, but the house wasnt my cup of Joe. Would surely return and try other items. NOTE they have a very limited food menu during Covid!✌🏽💯

Really excellent place for Coffee and/or Alcohol. The Long Island Iced Coffee is really spectacular, with a solid balance of coffee sweetness to the harshness of the alcohol. Interior has a North East Minneapolis vibe which was a pleasant surprise compared to the other coffee shops and bars I have visited in Texas. If it werent a 500+ Mile drive, Id come again

I was happy to choose this place for a bite and coffee because I saw that they have a patio. I needed to be able to be seated outside. The music on the patio was too loud to have conversation over and honestly, we smelt the sewer nearby (it smelt like a dumpster or trash nearby) about 1/4 of the time depending on the wind. It was not appetizing. This was at around noon on a weekday.The food was okay, but not great. The smell of the patio and the noise ruined the experience. If you do go, just dont eat outside. Lol.I doubt i will be returning when there are a lot better places to go that dont smell like sewage.

Service was terrible. We had brunch on Sunday at noon. It was moderately busy. Our table was barely wiped clean & the bench was ignored. It took forever for our waitress to come to our table for our drink order. My mimosa was very warm. Our food was delivered a few meals at a time. A couple of my party actually had finished their meal before others had even received theirs! My side order of toast was served with no butter, jam or knife when I finally was given some jam after having to ask the waitress for some. No salt or pepper was at the table. My water glass was never refilled. One star given because several of my party said at least the food was good.

The wait was super long to even order, and after we ordered, it took even longer to get our food. When we finally got our food, it was cold and not good. My friend had an eggshell in her omelette. The service wasnt good either, we asked for silverware once we got our food and the food runner walked away and started bussing a table instead of getting us silverware so we could eat our food. Definitely would not recommend.

Very hip coffee shop in the blue star complex. I would have given more stars since I really loved the atmosphere, but after after the cashier confirmed my order twice, repeated it back to me (thai coffee - no modifications); I was still given the wrong drink. When we were eating our sandwiches not even halfway through my sandwich I found hard pieces of plastic that could have easily cut my mouth or worse, I was done, I couldnt finish it out if fear.My husband ordered his usual latte, and it was fine, their coffee does tend to be more bitter than normal, this was true for both the latte and the Thai coffee when I got it in the end.

Great place to chill. Halcyon is also the only late night coffee shop in San Antonio. Good quality… only thing is I wish they had more couches.

So by far the best part is that they have dollar mimosas with the purchase of an entree. I got the scramble and my friend got the steak and eggs. Both plates were really great, and the coffee was also yummy. Would highly suggest eating here.

We are from out of town and we decided to try out Halcyon because of the raving reviews!! We got our order to go because we had somewhere to be and Sadly only 25% of my order was actually good. The pancakes were burnt, my fruit tasted like onions and my Latte didn’t taste like a latte. We were so disappointed. However the Nutella and Banana waffle was amazing and the southern skillet was good minus the few bad bites we had!! I would definitely advise to not cut fruit and veggies on the same cutting board without washing it and cooking the pancakes to a golden brown just like the waffle. They would have tasted amazing I am sure. The service was fast and friendly so I don’t take away from that. The food was just not what was expected. I would still give this place another chance next time we are in town and hopefully we have a better experience.

Service is terrible so desorganize Mimosas are not good. Not cold served. coffee was good. Theres no money back if you claim it and just give you credit to push you spend your money there no matter what. Orders take too long and incomplete. I would give 0 Star if available.

Halcyon is missing out on its full potential. The wifi here is absolute trash (not spotty, I’m talking like it doesn’t even pop up on devices), the A/C is way too weak to keep up with the Texas heat and their cashier/computer systems are spotty (orders get lost, long delays). Not to mention, misquotes and flys can abound inside the restaurant on certain days. I’ve noticed these occurrences over several visits to Halcyon. San Antonio deserves better late night coffee shops, than this.

I recommend this place for breakfast!!! Visited this restaurant with my wife on vacation. The place is very relaxed and hip. There is a cbd vending machine inside. You order your food at the counter and pick your own seating they have indoor and patio seating. The food was great I got a classic skillet and my wife got a veggie skillet both were good. I also got the French hot cocoa and my wife got the Chai latte both were also great 👍🏾. The wait for drinks was about 8 minutes and the food about 20 minutes which is understandable because she let us know the kitchen was backed up. It is not a traditional restaurant there are plenty of locals who come in for coffee and to use the wifi and work on their laptops. My favorite this is the music selection 🙌🏾 they play a variety or genres but it heavily focused on R&B, hip hop and rap which is something we dont get in alabama. Overall, love this place will update this review later in the day when we come back drinks!

Great food, coffee and amazing service. However it’s so dirty and full of flies, walls are disgusting and I’m sure the floor and bathrooms have not been cleaned in months. All tables and chairs are sticky and dirty.

At all. Which proved untrue.Pro-tip: Best you can do is order to go from the bar and wait at the outdoor bar where seating is open.

Came to have brunch on a Sunday. We waited for close to two hours and the place seemed to be very unferstaffed, servers were very nice,polite and proffessional but you could tell they were having a hardtime with all the peple there. When we got the food it was cold and it was hard to ask for another drink. Food was not the greatest, drinks were good.

They need to update their internet service or router. Wish I knew this before I sat down and bought food and coffee. The reviews aren’t lying about about the flies and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Go to another café for better service.

Super convenient location at the Blue Star Historic Arts area. They do have blended Frappes which is rare around this area. Beautiful views of Southtown Riverwalk with access as well.

Not that great really. Over rated for the customer service received. They cater to parties of 5 or more. They skipped us multiple times to seat larger parties. Otherwise not worth the wait. The brisket and Salmon was used artificial smoke flavor. And the hostess was unorganized and forgetful. Ill not return and try some where else.

I normally do not post negative reviews but I had to comment on the quality of the food we ate here recently. The avocado toast hardly had any avocado on it. It was more like a thin layered butter spread. It had what tasted like old pico on top. We also ordered 3 breakfast tacos that comes with brisket, egg, avocado and potato. The potato was undercooked and raw. There was m a teaspoon of avocado and a tiny bit of brisket in our tacos. For the price, it’s not worth it. We were both excited to eat here but left extremely disappointed. It’s only getting two stars because the latte I ordered was good.

Great happy hour specials with quality alcoholic drinks. Havent tried too much in the menu besides the small bites, however, Im never disappointed. The place rides the line between a great bar to get drinks with friends and a relaxing coffee shop to be productive and get some work done. The old fashioned is done well.

This was first time here. Was a recommendation from family. I ordered a mocha latte and husband an almond milk latte with a little caramel. For breakfast he ordered fried egg sandwich and I ordered doomsday skillet. Both were excellent even though Im not as big egg eater. It was a bit pricey for 2. Would come again.

So many flies: I am very disappointed with this place. O ordered a latte which was good but we sat down with friends to enjoy our drinks but there are many flies inside flying all over. This is an indication of this place not being clean.

This place is so cool, especially wtih our iced chai and iced amaretto. Beautifully located along the river in the Blue Star complex. A big bonus is that they serve alcohol as well. It has an Industrial interior design with an artistic flare. Take the camino tranquilo along the river in the early morning and soak in the natural beauty.

On Father’s Day weekend we stopped by here for a late lunch as it was only of the only few things that wasn’t packed on Saturday. Upon entering it was clear that this place isn’t known for its food because so many people were here just for coffee, but we took our chance and ate here.Finding seating was a bit tough as there was none available when entering. The worker, I believe there was only 1 not cooking, didn’t come out from behind and clean tables or anything after anyone left so this was certainly some cause for concern given Covid, but we didn’t get a table and wiped it down ourselves.The menu was pretty small and not many options, but I went with the breakfast burrito. This thing was huge and decent quality, so I was pretty satisfied especially for the price, but everyone else in my party was a little disappointed and felt that they were overcharged for why they got.Overall enjoyed my time here, but I would not return.

Iced coffee is amazing here. My favorite activity is to eat smores. They let you borrow a small pot type fireplace and provide the cookies, marshmallows, and chocolate.

Typical hipster coffee/food joint complete with flannel/skinny jean-wearing baristas. I got the smores latte which was surprisingly well balanced. It wasnt overly sweet like many smores drinks. The burnt marshmallow topping provided a good balance; I just wished there was more chocolate flavor.

Good food, good coffee. Enjoyable atmosphere. Good place to study, meet with a client or socialize with friends and co-workers.

Pizza and wigs were delicious the music was good waiters were great! Will go back for sure. Get there early are there want be no seats👍😉

I normally would leave an establishment after a bad experience without reviewing however Id just like to warn any potential new customers. The kitchen seems to either not care or has little to no attention to detail.Of the few times Ive been, there has always been an ingredient that was left out of the dish. With my most recent visit I ordered one of the Bowl options on the menu. Of the 8 or 9 ingredients it was missing 5 with no explanation. Not to mention the small portion size.The customer service was on point, very apologetic, wanted to make it right, and didnt make me feel like I was causing a problem when explaining my issues.Perhaps the kitchen staff is better mid day vs in the evening but I will not be going back.

This was our second time at this amazing coffee house. They never disappoint, from the smooth coffee to the dank overnight french toast. I recommend this joint to everyone who is looking for a good time at the brunch hour!
