Portland Eye Care is great!! Dr Adelman is excels at taking the time to explain what he is doing and what is means for your eye sight and eye health. Very kind, personal, and professional.The front desk team always go above and beyond. Whether following through about insurance coverage, getting a few extra contacts to try before your eligible to order through your insurance, or making sure your glasses fit right. They are friendly and competent.I also like there online appointment scheduling, reminders, and annual appointment reminder. Easy to use and not over aggressive with bugging you on text or email. I have never gotten a spam or unnecessary text/email.I would highly recommend Portland Eye Care.

It had been a long time since I had an eye exam and I was delighted to find a local business to receive my eye exam. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, and the Dr. took the time to really explain what he was looking for when taking images of my eyes. One of the staff even offered to order more frames in a particular style I was interested in so that I could have more options to choose from. I highly recommend this business!

The staff was very friendly. The doctor were very calm and explained everything that he was doing and asked if I was comfortable with it. He gave me the option to have my eyes dilated and explained what he would be able to see if they were dilated and if they were not. There was no pressure. I have a very good experience. This was my first visit here. Everyone was very hospitable. I feel that I received a very thorough eye exam. The doctor took time to explain things and answer my questions. My lenses were ready in about a week and I am completely satisfied with the new prescription.

Dr. Adelman was really nice. At my appointment he took the extra time to let me try out several different brands/types of contacts since my current brand was causing me to have dry eyes. The person who helped me buy contacts, Nancy, was also very nice, and she explained to me what my insurance would cover.I would’ve liked to have tried on some of the frames they had in store, but I thought it would be hard to make a decision on one while keeping a mask on the whole time (I wouldn’t be able to actually see my full face with the glasses on), so I didn’t bother. Maybe next time I will get a chance to look at those. I’m fully vaccinated, but I appreciated that I never had to remove my mask for the entire appointment—this made the whole process seem very safe.

I love going here. Dr. Adelman clearly explains everything hes doing. The woman is really good about finding glasses for you that look good on your face and will accommodate your prescription. When I try on glasses I feel like Im playing dress up.

Chose this place since close in neighborhood - it was nice, clean, newer small office. Eye exam was state of the art, quick, efficient and un intimidating. The machinery used and the transitions between them very smooth, painless, detached. Dr Adelman is excellent; great manner, attitude and demeanor, gently persistent and efficient, yet seemingly non hurried. A feeling of safety persists.I highly recommend the exam if one is due - great experience.I did not order glasses here, as the many styles I chose all had too short of ear pieces, and all looked a bit odd with the face mask. There are a variety of frame options at $100 and up.

This is a small business with just a few employees, which made me feel more comfortable in this time of COVID. It was clean and bright. The staff and doctor were really nice, helpful and informative. Street parking was easy. The front door doesn’t open all the way, it gets stuck on the sidewalk, so a person with a walker or wheelchair would not be able to enter. Not so warm and welcoming. I brought my 8 year old daughter here for her first ever eye exam. Two people at the front desk, had our temperatures taken. When it was time for her to go back, The optometrist didn’t even introduce himself. My daughter was a bit shy and nervous and he didn’t even notice or say what he was doing or give any warm welcome. He cleaned one machine with an alcohol pad prior to use, and the few other instruments he used for my daughter, he put right back in the case, so I’m not very confident they even got disinfected! He talked very quietly sort of mumbling during the exam. Right after our appointment another person went straight into the exam room, which also makes me think nothing was disinfected between patients. It’s a small office and the bathroom and cleaning area was very cluttered, all hap hazardously stacked into a laundry washing tub. The two people running the front desk seemed irritated that I wanted a paper receipt. Overall not so welcoming for being our first time, like they don’t really want to see new patients. Their logo is Portland eye care which has eyeglasses that are sort of shaped like a bicycle, but I didn’t see anything referencing alternative transportation or anything about bikes? Maybe just that Portland is a bike town. Overall I wouldn’t recommend for kids, or adults who want a warm welcoming office.

10/10 recommend. Extremely welcoming and fast without feeling rushed out of the office. Purchasing glasses was no pressure and I felt nothing was being “sold to me”.An incredibly refreshing experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. They also have great safety glass options!

I have had trouble at other eye clinics getting a prescription for glasses that really meets my needs. At Portland Eye Care, I wasnt rushed. I left the office feeling greatly reassured that I had the very best eyeglasses prescription possible. I could not have received better care.

The appointment was easy to make, they sent reminder emails so I didnt forget and the staff were very friendly and not at all pushy! The doctor was very polite, the appointment was quick and he handed me my prescription before I even had a chance to ask for it. The man and woman at the front desk helped me figure out what my insurance would cover and told me to feel free to look around at frames if I would like but that I was welcome to come in at anytime to look at them if I wanted to wait.

I had a great experience at Portland Eye Care. I arrived early for my appointment, so I was taken in early and didnt have to wait at all for my appointment to begin. It was fast and efficient, and I was given my prescription on the spot. The optometrist was very friendly and did a great job. I will be visiting at least one per year!

I had my first visit this week and it was definitely the easiest and most stress-free eye appointment Ive ever had! Although the office is small, it is run efficiently and respectfully -- quite the opposite of my previous eye doctor who was pushy to sell me glasses I didnt want and filled every moment of silence with invasive small talk. I really appreciated Dr. Adelmans calm and friendly demeanor, which helped me feel comfortable and at ease. Everyone Ive dealt with has been kind and helpful, but I do also love that I can make appointments online and see all available time slots, which is so handy with my weird work schedule!

Besides taking the time to dial in my prescription, Dr. Adelman does a great job of explaining what each test and result means for my eye health--answering questions, and doing it without seeming annoyed ( probably a tall task sometimes).As well, Tom and Nancy do a great job of maintaining a friendly environment and have been very helpful getting my glasses picked out and fitted.

I had a great experience from walk-in to walk-out. There were three people, including the optometrist, and I interacted with all of them. Friendly, warm, and attentive to detail. The eye examination was friendly and the doctor has a understated, quick, dry sense of humor that put me very much at ease. Insurance was lined up before I walked in the door and I will look forward to my return visit.

I was so pleased to have found Portland Eye Care. Weve lived in other states the last few years, so Ive ended up with a few different docs, and not particularly happy with the reading glasses Ive ended up with. Portland Eye Care took the time to listen to what wasnt working about the two different eye glasses I had and not only did a thorough examination, but remade the lenses in both sets of glasses. I couldnt be more thrilled to be typing right now as I look at my computer screen more clearly than I have in several years. Phew! My daughter and I had back to back appointments and the Dr was able to do our appointments at the same time so we were out of there by the time the second appointment would have started. She was personable and even gave us tips on places to go on our upcoming trip. The rest of the staff were very nice and when it was time to pick out my glasses they were knowledgeable about my insurance and worked very well with me to explain the options I had, the cost and even told me when the feature wasnt necessary for my prescription. Overall I was very happy and will be coming back for all my future appointments. Highly recommended!

This place is amazing! My nine-year-old got his first pair of glasses in March, which, of course, he broke about 2 months later. I called Portland Eye Care, they promptly ordered a new pair that was covered by a warranty, put a rush on the new pair, and told us to come in and get a loaner pair until the new ones come in. Nancy (the office manager) popped out the lenses and fit them into a loaner pair so he wouldnt have to squint until the new pair comes in. They really went above and beyond and have won our entire family over as loyal clients!

I had a fantastic experience with my eye exam, but the glasses and lenses I received are having issue after issue. Within 2 months, my anti-reflective coating on my new glasses started peeling off. They offered new lenses and coating as part of warranty, but the same issue happened about 3-4 months after that. The second time I came in with this issue, they offered an upgrade to the coating (which I didnt realize existed prior to this), at first for additional charge, then complimentary after they had my glasses in their possession for an entire month. After finally receiving them, I discovered one of my lenses loosening from the frame, and inspected my frames to find one of the small bolts entirely stripped and plastic material chipped away around that bolt. I had already needed to tighten these small bolts and add loctite so that they didnt loosen. I purchased one of their in-house brands, $200+ frames and an additional $200 for lenses. I assumed I was getting a superior product for this price. After giving them second and third chances with this, theyve lost a customer. I would still go to them for the actual prescription, as they identified an eye issue Ive been living with for years, which former optometrists did not identify. However the product they offer in the form of lenses and frames do not satisfy.

Clean, quiet, professional.my only comparison is the us navy and va which take real good care of us operators and deck hands alike.definitely the most comfortable glasses Ive worn, custom made for this facility.it can get real expensive it you go full on, or it can be easily affordable if you stick to the basics. so rock stars to average kids you are covered and well looked after by this boutique shop on division.

After going to Americas Best for several years and being unhappy with the contact lenses they were prescribing for me, I visited Portland Eye Care on the basis of their very high rating here. The eye exam I received at Portland Eye Care was more comprehensive than any other I have received anywhere and extended far beyond contact lens fitment into overall eye health. The lenses they have prescribed for me are by far the best I have ever worn and I have not experienced any lens discomfort since.

Was treated very quickly. The doctor is very thoughtful and explains what each test is for. The medical equipment is state of the art and the receptionist responded to my emails right away. Will be back :)

Dr. Adelman is so much fun. I am able to schedule my daughter and I together and we get in and out very quickly. My 7 year old daughter really enjoys her eye Dr. too, though I think she wishes she needed glasses! Great lobby space makes sitting with children very comfortable as well. This place is great. I was able to get a same-day appointment and called ahead to make sure it was okay to bring my infant daughter. Dr. Adelman was really patient when I had to hop out of the chair to tend to my daughter and was able to do a thorough examination despite the distraction. Ive had two eye exams with Dr. Adelman. He has a relaxed demeanor which is good for people who get nervous with anything medical. He wrote prescriptions that were so right on the mark I wished I hadnt delayed for so many years to get an eye exam. I purchased new glasses and that was also a painless experience.

I looked at glasses for a few minutes, lots of really cute and affordable options. I had my appointment, came out and selected the glasses I wanted to get, reviewed my prescription and options with the nice blonde woman there (I missed her name), and she calculated the cost for me on the spot while measuring me- she really has it down, no guessing. No pressure to get more add-ons or buy expensive frames either- and they have a lot of less costly options. It all happened so easily and quickly that I was sort of confused- I put off going for almost a year because it can be such a pain in the neck. I expect my (affordable and adorable) new glasses in a little over a week and am hoping they are as awesome as the service at Portland Eye Care suggests. I would recommend them.
