We stopped by on our 4th day out of 8 in NYC. Homesick, tired, hungry, we decided to visit Washington Square Park on a last minute whim. We were walking by this diner and it looked like home! We weren’t wrong. This little diner gave us the homestyle food we were craving, waiters who looked familiar, and cured our homesick woes. The service was impeccable! Our waiter asked us if we wanted dessert, but I told him I was waiting for my sister, because she wanted chocolate cake but was busy washing her hands. They had two choices! When she came back to our table, he asked her which chocolate cake she wanted…! When I think of our NYC trip, I thank this little diner for allowing us to make it through the rest of our trip! 🥰
Excellent service and food. Booths with enough space to have a meal in comfort. Great staff, attentive and efficient. Our coffee was refilled three times without us prompting it. Superb benedict salmon eggs. Recommended!
Established neighborhood diner in the heart of the Village. Attentive wait staff, really great selection of breakfast foods and excellent hot coffee! Prices are very reasonable for Manhattan. Love to stop here any time I’m in the area.
Food great fast severs Yu dont wait long
A really great dinner experience. Fast service with a broad menu and good quality food.
Beautiful little diner great for breakfast, lunch and dinner menu had a variety of options, pasta dishes are also very good from here. Recommend to anyone in the area who wants a nice diner experience.
The waiters were accommodating. Changed a water glass with lipstick on it. Homeless folks were in and out to use the bathroom and change out money. The food was not appetizing, but it was clean and ok to talk there. I will never return or recommend.(I gave the 2 stars because the place was clean, water glasses and tea were refilled. Also, it is kind to assist the homeless population)
Its a classic and standard diner that is dedicated to the basics in an impeccably right way. Im saying, by no means, that basics are easily achievable. Indeed, the foods at this place are served in proper style with a good portion and on time. All the servers here are more than experienced and literally know what they are doing.
We ate at this Diner a few times while visiting New York. The food was consistently good and the service excellent.
Comfortable seating; fast, friendly service; coffee in the table in the blink of an eye. Its the only dinner in my 33 years as a New Yorker that gets my breakfast order right (prepared the way I like) every time. The best diner in the area, very fairly priced, great for chat and chew.
The service was amazing and has good food. Its a cozy spot in the village to get a bite to eat.
They definitely give you your moneys worth.
Had breakfast. Was very good. Omelet with home fries. Pancakes with eggs and sausage was excellent too. Sausage was the big fat ones. Service was ok and bathroom very clean. Only negative was front door held open so cold air kept coming in when inner door was opened. No big deal. Glad diner was open and would definitely go back
Eggs were good but the pancakes and bacon were very over cooked/ burned. Coffee was very watery and it took a while to get served.
The breakfast is so good, with large portions and prices that are super reasonable.
Nice place. convenient to reach in case youre traveling by subway. it wasnt too busy but now a days everywhere is half full capacity however, Im glad they obey the State Rules due COVID. service was appropriate and prices are not too bad.
Food is great, but it is massive lol. Service was great, the milkshakes were good. Will be coming back
Yes, they serve alcohol--beer and wine. A/C, great diner food: omelettes, grilled cheese, etc.
Just dont. The food tastes like no one wants to be there.
It was my first time going there a friend took me and it was very nice.
This is my favorite diner in NYC. Everything is delicious, reasonably priced, and the staff are all nice.
Great classic diner. Good eggs benedict
Ive been going there for years, love that place.
Would definitely eat there again
Lox and bagels plate, the best I have had.
There was bugs in the fountain drink, when I discreetly informed the waiter not to cause a scene, he just brought me over a can of Sprite, and the food gave me heartburn, I will not revisit again.
Stay away from this place. Like really. If you can’t even make a blueberry pie right what what can you do right ? The worst blueberry pie I have ever had. The worst blueberry pie I have ever had. Should I repeat it? Disgusting is the word. Right in the middle of such a beautiful historic neighborhood. What a shame.
Good food, great service, tad pricey but expected in that neighborhood. Highly recommend.
I cant forget the taste of the chocolate milk I had there.. it was the best
Great spot for breakfast lunch or dinner at 6th Avenue and 4th street in Greenwich Village.Clean following Covid safety protocol with temperature checks, phone tracing and deep cleaning.Varietal menu for all major times of the day in a quaint setting.
Our server was really nice but the food was nasty. Don’t get fruit, Florentine omelet, eggs, or sausage :(
Late night Greek diner food. Hits the spot. Dope vibe. I really fw this spot
Amazing French toast and super fast service, felt welcomed and enjoyed my stay
Best diner in Manhattan.
Waiy staff were very friendly and the food was delicious
Not been here in forever and the people the food and the frech fries were as wonderful as ever!
An old favorite.Prices way up though, so not the value it once was. Its still a diner but now priced more like nearby restaurants and they charge a fee for using a credit card instead of cash.Quick, friendly service though makes it a good choice but be prepared for a little sticker shock when you request the bill. 🤑
Great breakfast, coffee delicious
Foods was delicious and I enjoy it.
Committed to the pulse of the surrounding community. Nice place to eat, and enjoy a friend or two.Great comfort food!
Food and service were good.
We absolutely loved our experience at this diner! The service was excellent, the restaurant was clean and the food was delicious! I fell in love with the grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms. In fact, within our few days stay in NYC we went back a couple of times. The prices were also very good for the quality and quantity of the food. I would highly recommend the Washington Square Diner!
Good diner, good service. Needs customers after pandemic. Help em out. Waiter said they are only at 30% what they were!
Its a landmark in the village.
We were there yesterday with the kids. The food was really good (crispy chicken sandwiches, chocolate chip pancakes, and jalapeño cheddar grilled cheese), and the waiters were nice and attentive. And everything was very clean...except the mens room, which was a total stinking wreck, said Mr. Hawke. Id give it 4-1/2 stars if I could.
First of all, an amazing location and space. The workers/waiters are kind and my waiter had a great sense of humor. The food is ready relatively quick and you feel as if the workers are there to make sure you enjoy every experience. I was with a group of five friends and all our food tasted amazing. The prices are quite cheap which means the restaurant offers tremendous value. Definitely a great spot for dinner or just a quick bite.
I love this joint, it is a classic dinner like they used to have everywhere.
Loved their milkshakes !
Wonderful staff and delicious food! I would definitely go back there for their outdoor dining again.
Delicious hamburgers, crispy fries!...
The customer service was outstanding . i will be coming back again
Great Food, Great service. Everyone on point. Got a chicken salad melt with cheddar cheese. Recommended there is the French onion soup. All my coworkers swear by it. The only down side is the wait on food but... since its fresh and prepped on the spot thats what you need. So in reality there is no downside. Definitely a spot to stop for great quality food on the run.
One of the best diners in Manhattan. The only issue is inconsistent service. Out of the five times that I have been there two of the times the service wasnt too great. Food comes in huge portions that you will definitely need to take home with you. Standard diner food that is little over priced for a diner but as I said, huge portions. Its never really packed so you should definitely swing by.Their mozzarella sticks and chicken pot pie are to die for.
First try today and its great. Great food and great service. Fair pricing too. Recommended.
Washington Square Diner is your standard NYC diner. The portions are totally enormous, from the salads to the sandwiches. The lunch menu pricing is super reasonable and you’ll definitely have leftovers for dinner.
Its a nice 24 hour spot. Decent diner food, good and quiet atmosphere, and near the subway. Its a great stop before a long trip home. Or even just a good reliable place thats always there when you need it.
If youre looking for a great American Style Diner that is filled with an amazing staff and awesome food. Do not hesitate to check out the Washington Square Diner. I was recently there on a Monday night. And they were the greatest of service with what seems to be a full-on magic show happening because of Monday Night Magic who shows up there after all of their shows. If its good enough for the longest running show an Off-Broadway history. Then I promise you you will have a great time at the Washington Square Diner. You can really get whatever you want from burgers to even a grilled cheese sandwich or an amazing salad.
I love this place as diners go. My favorites are the stuffed mushrooms and the patty melt. They are my go-to items. The rest of the menu is solid and theyre open 24/7. Great neighborhood diner. After your meal you can always take a walk over to Washington Square Park and relax feeling satisfied.
Let’s start off by telling you how convent this place was to get to in the snow when I was there. I guess you could say that about almost anything in NYC. This is a pretty chill place and I really liked the atmosphere. The waiter was super polite and brought out water as normal. I placed my order and the food arrived quickly and it was steaming hot. I was really caught off guard when I saw the amount of food that they provide for a very reasonable price. I order the chicken sandwich and it came with two large pieces of meat on bread with lettuce, tomatoes and onions. The fries was decent but the chicken that I got was very tasty. I can say that I got my money worth and I would have had leftovers but I was flying out that day and didn’t have any place to put them since I had already checked out of my hotel. This place I would recommend to anyone that wants something quick, inexpensive, and fairly good food. I don’t work here so don’t say that I’m only doing this because I work there, but I don’t. I’m visiting from North Carolina. I hope this review helps!
Excellent food and service!
Me and my family love to eat there. The people are so nice and Well Service. The staff are so considerate and work well together. The place is nice and clean its was just a great place the food is great.
Good food at a good price. Nice staff. Terrific breakfast here with fast service. This place is a tradition. Love it.
Great diner! Great service. Great place to come in out of the cold. Typical NYC diner with excellent fried chicken!! Love it. Great place for comfort food and coffee.
Wish I could give zero stars. Stopped in for 2 simple bacon egg and cheese sandwiches on a roll. The roll was stale. There was MAYBE one egg split between both sandwiches and the bacon was definitely days old. I got 2 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and a muffin. My check was $17.30. Not even a drink. Two stale bread with last weeks bacon sandwiches please. Oh and scramble ONLY one egg for both of them, Is what they mustve heard. Then charged me for two full course breakfasts. Disgusting.
Been going here for years. The food and service is top notch! Cozy diner atmosphere.
Ive eaten here for years. Dependable. Charming. A place to go to meet friends. Definitely a dying breed and an institution worth supporting. Feels like you have stepped into the heart of old Greenwich Village! Love it!!!
Great breakfast sandwich and coffee
Love it!! Service with kinda a smile, home fries that are kinda tasty, and coffee that is a bit watery. Its exactly what youre looking for in a NYC diner!
Extensive menu, good service, convenient to the subway, and open 24 hours. Always a good experience when I go there.
These guys are CLUTCH! besides the fact that the delivery is always before estimated time, the food is fantastic! 💪🏽 never had a complaint since day 1 and only got better with every order. my new go to spot for my overnight job 😍. thanks guys for being there and being great!
Great food
One of the few Manhattan coffee shops left. Very serviceable and convenient for breakfast meetings.
The French toast was horrible 3 large thick bread slices. More importantly, the customer service was disappointing. From the moment I walked in no one greeted me. I only stayed because it was the only diner open at that time. After rushing me to order, it took at least 20 minutes to make. Once, I received my meal that was it. No one came over to ask if, I was enjoying my meal. NO ONE. from the owner to the waiters. Working in a customer service profession, I was in total disbelif. I have never received such horrible customer in NYC.
Clean, well lit diner next to Golden Swan Garden, its a rare gem in Manhattan.A two story stand alone diner with windows looking out into the garden and onto 6th Avenue. As for the food, good stuff. I had a chocolate egg cream and a Texas Burger Deluxe with cheese (A cheese burger deluxe with a fried egg on top).Service was very attentive. My water glass was never empty.
Ate here on Christmas Day and it was great! The staff were all super friendly and the service was great! Food was delicious and big portions for a good price! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area
Born and raised in the diner capital of the world (NJ), Washing square diner is by far the best diner Ive ever been to. Eggplant parm is surprisingly delicious. And George, who is always our server, is so smart, efficient, and nice. Truly an impressive guy. I couldnt love this place any more.
Its a beautiful and clean, I went there yesterday with my date. it was a great place and the food is amazing.I would definitely recommend everybody to eat there.
Real American Diner experience for a tourist. Great Menu and very friendly staff. Also open 24hrs a day
