My son-in-law very nicely went uptown to buy your lemon pound cake for me. He delivered it to me the same day (yesterday). I did not want to complain but it looked stale. I cut a slice and it was very stale, dry, crumbling. I lifted the cake out of the box to put on a plate. MOLD!, GREEN MOLD ON THE BOTTOM!!!! Now i am complaining! I am shocked. Terrible! We

Recd a basket of desserts for the passing of a family member from a friend in NYC. We opened the first lemon cake, which felt like a lead ball. Cut the first piece which was stale. Cut a second piece hoping it would taste a bit fresher. Unfortunately, I cut into the stale lemon cake more and we found green mold growing. The further I cut the larger the mold grew. Not sure how long this cake was sitting around, but I always wonder about mail orders and assume that they rarely send the freshest produce. Well my concern is correct. I would not recommend William Greenberg Desserts.

I want to tell you that I was very thrilled to receive my online #5652 of pastries Thursday evening. Whoever did the packaging did a beautiful presentation with the boxes and the red bow ribbon etc. Please tell this person who did this packaging they deserve credit. But most of all what really counts is the delicious pastries. The baker or bakers did a superb job with the fruit danishes and rugelach assortment. An excellent taste with every bite which reminds me of the old world German bakeries, Jewish bakeries, ans eastern European Slavic bakeries. I could not get these fine quality pastries at any supermarket. Even though I am in my seventies, I think of my Hungarian grandmother who made fine pastries as well. I will say The William Greenberg Bakery Shop lives up to top-quality desserts. Thank you very much, Barbara Seymour P.S. I will add that all the workers in the store deserve recognition because it is teamwork that makes a business successful, thanks.

Ordered something in advance with a delivery date for 7/13. The day of a party. I even paid double the local cost and they didnt ever bother shipping it until late in the afternoon of the 13th. So about an hour before the party from a completely different state. So a complete waste of money for a now useless pie.

So excited my husband search to find me Gluten Free Black and white cookies for my birthday. Arrived nicely packaged and his humorous note added. As I have an autoimmune disease -celiac- we tested with our Nima to make sure it was a gluten free cookie so I would not become ill. Unfortunately ☹ the food test came back positive for gluten even though marked gluten free. If you are celiac I would suggest another source...hubby out a lot of money and shipping to California...

Bad customer service. I ordered black and whites on December 6. I paid $25 for shipping. I didnt hear anything for 10 days. I called on the 16th and after being on hold for a long time, then getting disconnected and me calling back, the manager rudely said they would be delivered Friday. They werent. I called on Sunday because the tracking said the cookies were in NJ still. The manager again was unpleasant and unwilling to do anything. Nothing was delivered until Monday the 21st. I didnt pay 2 day shipping for them to be delivered 15 days later. No excuse.

Not sure how you supposed to enjoy this cookies when the service is so terrible that they ruin your mood for the entire day. The lady that helped me would turn her body while answering so I could not hear a word she said. No receipt, no thank you, good bye, nothing. And brownies were not fresh. Complete disaster...

Very Sad DeclineI have been shopping at William Greenberg since I was a kid on 68th and Madison Ave in the 1960’s. They were the “”class” bakery on the UES, known for their classic, buttery asked goods. A Greenberg brownie or apple pie was a real treat.. They cost a king’s ransom, but a King couldn’t get a better pie or cake. So, when my wife suggested that we should buy our pies this year instead of baking our own, and she would be going right by Greenberg’s on the way home, I leapt at the chance to save the work. Rolling out a crust is my least favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal preparation. After our usual massive feast, everything from scratch, including my own turkey stock, made from an extra whole free range bird, the moment before the tryptophan coma for the sugar rush came, and we dug into the apple and the pumpkin pies. Oh my Lord. These were as bad as it gets. The crusts tasted of old Crisco, the apples were far undercooked and beyond tart - the texture was awful, the chunks of green fruit in a gelatinous paste. A $4 frozen pie from WalMart would have been far better. Hell, a McDonalds apple pie is better than that mess. We had already served everyone, but the plates were quickly removed - no same person would waste the calories on that. The pumpkin pie was just as bad if not worse. The crust was bizarre - I couldn’t even tell if it was supposed to be pastry or Grrahm cracker - t was mealy and tasted of old lard. The filling was glop, the pumpkin undercooked and separated from the rest of the ingredients as if they had never been properly mixed or cooked. We cut only one piece to test after the apple pie disaster.I dont know what to say. My wife will take the pies back. If I hadn’t poached a dozen pears in port and spiced cider, to serve with some fresh ginger snap on Friday, we would have had no desert.I don’t know if this was a result of Greenberg purposefully using some awful 1950s recipe, or just quality control issues. What I do know is there were two horrifically expensive pies I wouldn’t serve to a kindergarten class or to prisoners at River’s Island.I loved Greenberg.. Stick to the brownies or black and white cookies, I guess. I won’t be finding out.

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Ordered cookies for a valentines gift to a college student, gave the exact address and dorm room number (was assured they could have FexEd deliver to the location). The cookies never got their, so they sent again. Both phone calls I spoke with the most horribly rude person, claiming it wasn’t her fault and she didn’t have time to deal with the cookies that didn’t get delivered. I ask to speak with someone else, she said they were busy and no one else could help me. I confirmed the second attempted order was never received, and she said I should have the receiver go door to door to see where the cookies are.

She didnt even bother to look at me, still fixing some pastries around, before rapidly responding in an annoyed tone, that they didnt have anything like that. After that encounter, I was glad they didnt. Definitely not spending my money on a bakery with snobby employees who take an ingredient inquiry as a personal insult.

Disappointed- this place is extremely small, the Black & White cookies were just ok- nothing special. The rainbow cake was pretty but it didnt taste so great, I also bought the crumb cake it was ok- again nothing special...very poorly stocked store, I hate -that they have no prices anywhere! You have to ask how much everything is & thats probably because everything is way over- priced...the customers at the Madison Ave store were so snobby & pushy. The staff was not so helpful, in fact, I asked the price of a Pecan Ring and the staff said they werent sure! I said Forget it- and some woman in the back yelled out 24 bucks...I thought I was hearing things! That much? I can buy ingredients for a dinner in Shoprite for 24 dollars and buy a 7 dollar Entenmann Pecan Ring...smh No Thank you...
