Such a small cute little place! I dont know why its so poorly rated :(The staff are(is?) kind and the sweets are really good! Most seem to have a savory aspect to complement the sweet

This place exceeded my expectations!!! I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time and finally got the chance on a warm sunny New York City day. We waited less than five minutes (on a Monday afternoon) and we got a slice of the crack pie and I got the cereal milk soft serve with crunch. It was absolute heaven. I savored every bite so it would last and I ended up craving more the rest of the day!!! I love that it’s ice cream that doesn’t taste very sweet. It’s more of a creamy, salty, buttery, crunchy sensation rather than a super sweet one. So be prepared for that. Their other creations might be a little sweeter, but if you’re looking for the original, it isn’t overly sweet. It is perfect. We have to make another trip before we leave back home!

I wanted to like this more, but it was somewhat disappointing. My boyfriend saw the Milk Bar featured on the Food Network or the Travel Channel and kept telling me I should go there. So I finally tried it. I got the milk bar pie and compost cookie. Both were fine, but not fantastic. My friend got the bday cake shake that I liked better but it was pretty expensive for the size.

First time I tried them, I wasn’t too impressed with the ice cream but they’ve redeemed themselves with their b’day (cake ball) truffles. The gluten free option is just as tasty as the straight up glutinous version. Yum! Check them out!

Not worth your time and money. Was really excited to try this place and got the cereal milk soft serve, cinnamon soft serve, compost cookie and cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow cookie. Found everything to be lacking in flavor and ridiculously overpriced. Cereal milk is nothing to shout home about, its just sweetened milk with hints of cereal flavor - nothing you cant get at home from soaking special K in milk. Cinnamon soft serve is well.. Vanilla soft serve with cinnamon powder.. Also, for the price you pay, it seems ridiculous that the cookies are prepackaged and not served fresh. Cookies were kinda boring and I ended up breaking them into pieces as toppings for the even more boring soft serve to make both a more appetizing. Seriously overrated -.- Please spend your money at other bakeries that actually put in effort into their creations.

A hole in the wall shop, but notorious for its crack pie and cupcakes. Has a cult like following. I am giving it a four star, tried their pie and loved it. But when other more sophisticated pie eaters had the crack pie, they were like its okay.

Whenever I pass by this place, I always go for the milk bar pie. Ive loved it since when it was called crack pie. I cant really say that I feel the same way about it anymore though because 1. its incredibly small now for the price and 2. it became cloyingly sweet.

We had been really looking forward to visiting a Milk Bar on our NYC visit but this turned out to be a colossal disappointment. First off, this is basically a carry-out-only-window location so don’t plan on grabbing some sweets/coffee and hanging around afterwards. Secondly, while the crack pie was good, everything we got including that, were prepackaged and not fresh at all. Last but not the least, we found what looked like a strand of hair in one of the B’Day Truffles (see attached pic). Overall, it was a definite waste of time and money and a place I wouldn’t recommend at all.

I’m not sure if it was because we went around 7 PM but everything was so dry. The cookies come prepackaged and they tasted like store-bought cookies. Nothing special at all. We also got the chocolate birthday cake which was dry and the frosting is so sweet. This place is all hype and brand, nothing delicious or homemade or special about this. I’m bummed I spent $25 on ice cream cookies and cake and ended up throwing over half of everything away. There are much better and less hype places in the city

I think this is my first review. For good reason.Just stopped by to pick up 5dz birthday truffles. When I called a day before I was told they are packaged in boxes in packs of 3. Perfect! Enough for 20 people. So I come in today. I ask for 5dz, and confirm that they come in packs of 3. Answer is yes.So I get them. All of the packs are opened. Apparently the word dozen nulls out packs of 3 because when you say that, nothing else matters. Now I have $138 worth of birthday truffles that I cant distribute properly and based on their no refund policy and absolute lack of customer service, there is absolutely no way to either get the packs, get a discount on another 5dz, or get any true sympathy for a mountain of questionable miscommunication. Thanks guys!

Ive been in town all summer, interning, and have had a lot of chances to try the treats at this famous-ish stop. While all of them are not bad, Ive finally discovered something that wows me. The strawberry and corn ice cream quake. It takes like my midwestern grandmas strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream. Its really amazing. Get it and you will not be disappointed.

Delish crack pie, bagel bombs, cereal milk ice cream, cookies...took most of these back to Pittsburgh cause you can only eat so much at one time! Directions for reheating bagel bombs simple and SPOT ON! These products traveled well, customer service was great...not sure about negative reviews, only have good things to say! CANT WAIT TO VISIT ANOTHER LOCATION IN May! HEY!!!! sorry to be late!!! Back in May as promised!! CRACK PIE!!! HEAVEN ON EARTH!!! cookies, bagel bombs, cake truffles, ice cream!!! ALL sooo good!!! NEED a Pittsburgh location!!! Service great, too...Ignore all the naysayers!!! you have a true fan base who really appreciate your delicious creativity!

Stopped by at around 9pm and was a bit disappointed that they were out of crack pie...but still had a great exp there. Love the ice cream and the blueberry-cream cookie. Prices are a bit on the high side for what it is, but if youre a David Chang / Momofuku fan, this is a required stop. NOTE: they are a cash-less business. Credit card/debit only.

Not what we were expecting. We paid $10 for two cookies we were expecting something fresh. Instead we received two, pre-packaged cookies that were dry. The free cookies at the hotel check in were better. Very disappointing for a place that is supposed to specialize in baked goods.

Probably the greediest ice cream shop ever. I paid $9 plus tax for a poor tasting chocolate pretzel flavored concrete. As if they dont think they are charging enough to pay their workers, I was prompted to add a 15-20 percent tip. Seriously? I tip 20% at restaurants and bars, but ice cream shops are not places to tip. I know this is Wall Street, but I have never seen such greed at any other merchant in Fidi. Ill be sticking to Dairy Queen and wont ever be back.

Frosted flakes cereal flavored ice cream my arse. I was Soo hype to get some ice cream and came here since it was across the street. I dont do reviews but why is this place even open. It should be a crime to sell ice cream that tastes that horrible. What the hell even was that yuck!

Review №29

The desserts are decent but the brand is overhyped because of David Chang. It’s wayyy too overpriced for its quality. They’ve made fables out of simple recipes and therefore turned them into these bites of culinary history that you must be a part of but the flavors are frankly nothing special or overly innovative.

Nice idea...poor execution. Love the concept of anything related to milk but there are some basics that they dont have. You cant simply get milk, nor a vanilla milkshake, nor a chocolate milkshake. Their two flavors of milk are cereal milk, which they claim tastes like the leftover milk at the bottom of a bowl of cornflakes (not very appetizing if you ask me), and cinnamon milk. I tried a cinnamon milk milkshake...it was not good. Poor consistency, cinnamon bits were grainy in the shake, not really very cold...went milky within the first two minutes on a not very warm day. YMMV, but Im not going back.

I’m a big Milk Bar fan, been to most of them (even Kiev), and this is by far the worst one. Unfortunately I go by it often and continue to try. So, I’m pretty much an idiot. The staff seems completely confused every time. Orders are all backed up and coming out wrong. Often not even open during posted hours. It’s a mystery to me what’s happening in there. Breaks my heart because I want some tasty Milk Bar love right where this one is.

Christina Tosi, I have to tell you that I was a little disappointed. The location is a walkup. Your staff was neither sales oriented or enthusiastic about selling your product. We tried the Cake Batter Truffles and they were ok. The taste was pretty much sugar granuals on top of more sugar. The Blueberry Creme cookie fell flat and had little Blueberry flavor. If you are shooting for creme, you hit the mark. The compost cookie is not bad, not good. Wouldnt have it again. These are reviews from kids who like cookies and milk. Overall it misses the mark. There did turn out to be a hidden gem next door however. I would recommend trying FUKU next door. The spicy chicken sandwich is a rival to Chick Fil A, but with dark meat (thigh).

I love Milkbar. The milkquakes are delicious and so are the milkshakes. This would be a five star if it wasnt for the customer service. There is one particular employee who is there often and is probably one of the rudest cashiers ive ever encountered. She seems like a very angry person and kind of ruins the experience of a cool spot like this. Get rid of her and it would be a great place
