A wonderfully designed coffee shop where you can feel how much love and expertise has gone into every single cup. They aim to create unique coffee experiences by providing distinct flavors and aromas, as well as placing a big focus on transparency on the journey of their beans. I so loved this place so much! I will be recommending this place to all people who are coffee lovers.
This coffee shop has a wide variety of coffees to choose from. All of their coffee and other foods were in good presentation and very affordable. All of their staff also were very accommodating and knows exactly what to do. Id really had a great time visiting this coffee shop. I highly recommend this place to all my friends and workmates.
Not bad but customer service could be better. No greetings nor acknowledgement from the Baristas When I entered the room. They were busy talking to each other about canceling someone, or something. The cappuccino was more similar to a machiatto than a cappuccino; too foamy and light, fairly small for a cappuccino.I wouldn’t recommend it, you should visit Kona coffee a couple blocks east. Better; tastier.
I love this location-Gigi is the sweetest and most pleasant barista ever! When I stop in for my morning coffee she always starts my day off on the right foot. So full of cheer, joy, and amazing coffee! Be sure to stop by and see Gigi when you come 🤗.
Nice coffee place with a seating area outside. They are best known for their nitro cold brew. From my coffee loving friends their coffee got a 8 out of ten. The place is usually pretty busy and the restrooms were not clean during our latest visit. All and all is a good option for coffee near Washington Square Park
Good coffee, good vibes! They didnt have oat milk (my go-to) that afternoon so I got my latte with soy instead. It tasted good - the espresso seemed like a medium roast. The staff was very friendly, especially the barista - always greets you with a smile :)They have free wifi, a restroom and limited seating inside with a few chairs outside. Would recommend!
Had a good iced latte - a bit on the pricey side though
Strong and delicious Cold Brew. After a long day of being a tourist in NYC, we stopped in Stumptown Coffee Roasters for a late afternoon fix. We were just walking by on our way back to where I was staying. It was calling my name, and I couldnt resist. I didnt want to resist :-)Its located very close to Washington Square Park and NYU. I have a feeling most people stumble across this location while walking to their destinations. Lots of seating inside, and it doesnt look like a location where there are a whole lot of students hanging out. Restrooms available too.
Much Better than 29th st.
Just a bad experience here. I didn’t feel very welcome here and the barista was very short and visibly irritated that someone walked into her store. Won’t be returning.
Great coffee and knowledgeable staff help you decide your drink in a comfortable atmosphere. The girls gave me an amazing latte and a great customer experience 👌👌 chefs kiss of a latte
Staff had terrible attitudes to us, coffee wasn’t bad!We asked them to lower music because it was loud heavy metal, not what you expect in a coffee shop. Staff was sarcastic to my wife and when she turned around started talking openly my to each other about their right to play whatever music they wanted whenever they wanted, even if it ticks customers off.Apparently, this is not the first time it has happens because there are many other similar reviews.I definitely won’t be coming back here, not will I recommend this place to anyone!!!
They really take pride in their espresso roast here and the staff is extremely knowledgeable on the subject. It’s also a GREAT place to do work although a table is no guarantee; you might have to wait for a bit. My almond milk cappuccino was very acidic at the end which wasn’t expected but I could still tell the bean was high quality. Their larger lattés they put in a tall glass cup which looks really really cool. Would definitely go again.
One of the most beautiful cafes Ive never been to. The atmosphere is very cosy and quiet, there are small round tables to read (magazines are available), chat or work a while and a large study table with plugs. The coffee is brutal, be it filter or espreso, lattes (there is vegan milk) or tea. There is a small selection of sweets available and a fridge with takeaway munchies such as hummus and guac. You can buy packaged coffee, (they grind it there if you wish). The only downside that would put is that they only grind to drip coffee despite the fact that there are brewers and filters of all kinds on their website (Aeropress, v60 ..) but overall was a 10/10 experience every time I went there.
I love this coffee shop. Very good service for me. really I am so happy. Thank you guys.
Best flat whites Ive had in the city. The baristas steam the milk perfectly and the roast of the beans makes it almost chocolatey. Youd be hard-pressed to find a seat, though, when things eventually open up!
Sour coffee - local flavour. Ive ordered a regular espresso. It was tasting pretty sour. They told me that their own roastary / beans have a taste of blood orange which basically is pretty sour. So they offered me a free macchiato. The taste with milk was definitely more fitting my taste. Personal very nice. Maybe I am just used to other tastings. Would recommend this coffee house anyways but ask in advance which taste to expect ;)
Wonderful coffee at a reasonable price!
Why do they not have a bathroom??? If you want to charge $7 for a drink, the least you can do is have a restroom
Terrible service this AM, workers there seem only remember chatting to each other but serving the line .
I have come here dozens of times in the last 4 years and have run into celebrities, cuties, homies and NYU studie...ents.I adore the vibe -- open, high ceilings, industrial chic greys and browns, a lot of light, and strong a$$ wifi. The coffee is reliably good and the staff is cool, accommodating and kind. Shout out to them effortlessly re-doing orders if there has been a mistake. My two improvements would be to add better pastries and snacks since they fall flat compared to the great coffee, and add a few more seats since those can be hard to come by.Otherwise, I love this place.
No indoor sitting for fully vaccinated people.
Excellent espresso !
Just had a great talk with my wife while enjoying a freshly squeezed orange juice. She sipped on a delicious Mexican Latté and we shared a bagel and breakfast sandwich. Highly recommend to come sip on coffee tea or just water. Great atmosphere to relax and just enjoy their store design.
Great place to study with a coffee!
Excellent coffee. This location does a pretty good a job of capturing the Portland OR spirit. I often go out of my way to grab a coffee here when I can. Also, close to Washington Square Park, good place to take a walk with your coffee.
Absolutely one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. Their Hairbender espresso blend is always on point. Kudos to the quality control in this shop.
Great service.
I came looking for a barista style coffee, as I found many articles about this place where coffee looks like a drink prep. It looks great and coffee beans are good, but nothing great. I asked if I could get a Hario V60 drip and received a stare back... I then asked if there was any other method (Clever dripper, Chemex...) And again a stare. It is a chic grabngo coffee place, where you have maybe 15 seconds to answer what you want and youll probably drink at the counter. if you are looking for anything different than that, I would not recommend it at all.
Love the coffee and the focus on sustainability! They offer a discount for bringing your own mug or using one of theirs! Best part is, they actually clearly state that they have this discount available (many coffee shops with a similar program dont advertise it)
I managed to snag a seat here for the first time in my three years at NYU, and it was such a cozy experience. The classic decor is beautiful and makes you feel like you’re sipping coffee in an old, polished library. My girlfriend loved the hot chocolate. I thought the coffee was just so-so, but I wasn’t specific about which blend I wanted, so it probably just wasn’t to my taste. Great spot for studying, if you don’t mind fending off the people jostling for tables around you.
Out of all the smaller chain and boutique coffee shops in this part of Manhattan, Stumptown is my favorite in terms of coffee taste. Their espresso is fantastic. They also have great rotating espresso drinks like a delicious rum raisin latte. Small space with few tables, but thats ok for me.
This place is so cool. Its so cool, and hip and cool. Coffee is tasty too. Interior is so nice, lots of space especially for this area. Smells of coffee, the counter is solid wood, the tables are wood and metal, everything is pretty. Man this place is cool. And theres a sliver of outdoor seating - just secluded enough, just public enough. Man this place is cool...
Love this spot. It was an instant good omen when they were playing the entire Thank U, Next album as I walked in (not kidding). The wifi was great, a good amount of seating where you shouldnt have to wait long to get a spot, indoor and outdoor, with standing space at the bar to work at. Finally, the original cold brew was fantastic, best Ive had so far in NYC. A great area too.
Love this beautiful place so much. It’s very close to Washington Square park. The baristas are nice for most of the time as clearly they are super busy. Don’t know too much about the coffee, but I like the latte here.
Of all the third wave coffee shops, my favorite is Stumptown. This location in particular is at a beautiful, culturally significant site. If youre into Jack Kerouac, youll have an opportunity to step into a place he frequented. The roasts are delicious and there are plenty of options for dairy-free and non-coffee drinkers. The space is cozy but not tight and they stock magazines.
My fav place!
Super good, lovely coffee shop. Had some time so I took in the place over a nice cappuccino and very much admire the woodwork inside.
My favorite spot in the lower-west. Nice staff, great coffee—the interior was lovely too, back when that was a thing :)
We loved everything about this shop. The smell was incredible, much needed after walking the streets that day. And the pastries were fantastic. Would make this place my regular if I lived closer.
This place didnt become one of the most well spoken about coffee shops in NYC for no reason. Delicious and well brewed. I tried their honey peppercorn latte the first time I went and it had a little kick to it to hit me right back and lift me up. Very happy and pleased that I came here!
Not enough glory can be bestowed on one of Portland’s finest. Huge fan since they hit NYC back when the Ace hotel opened up! The finest and bold cold brew on he planet mixed with an incredible pastry program. Order a magpie or something from Roberta’s bakery! The winter cheer when in season is a do not miss
Horrible staff. Rude. Headbangers. Will openly ridicule customers in front of them. Poor management. Many customers have posted the same review. Its a shame. The coffee is actually really good.
The coffee shop has great ambience. The coffee is amazing. I tried brewed hot coffee medium roast. Though usually I prefer dark roast I tried their signature blend and loved it. Service is pretty fast and the people at the counter are good. Must try.
The staff nice and very helpful when I asked for help finding the right type of coffee for my wife. Great coffee as well.I recommend going there. Brought coffee beans back to GA to regreat not buying more when I had a chance.
Great coffee and muffins! Liked the vibe too! Comfy seating, felt like home! Staff was super as well!
Decent atmosphere and nice setup - and coffee is okay - but the staff need to smile and engage a little more with their customers. Just a nice word or eye contact goes a long way ... I would have thought this was customer service training 101 by now in the year 2019!!
Good coffee, good location. Worth the wait for their smooth pour over.
I went here this morning and ordered a medium coffee and split a muffin with my friend. The muffin had corn flakes on the outside, which was surprisingly refreshing. The coffee was delicious, and not ridiculously priced. I believe I ended up paying ~3 dollars for the coffee, and it was worth every penny. We got a table because everything was very spacious. If I am ever in the area, I will stop by again for sure. I have no complaints.
Coffee and services is top notch just the layout lends itself to a bit of confusion. Waiting area is mixed with customers just standing and chatting. The flow is just a bit off.
One of my favorite coffee shops! Especially if you like cold brew or chai tea!The hard wood and brass make the room feel bright and inviting. There are always college students and young professionals conducting business so seating may be limited depending on time. But there is out door seating.
Coffee flavor was awesome. Great atmosphere. Services was good. Interior was awesome.
Too expensive and serving sizes are small. Only rich people can afford it.
Good coffee. Too crowded to get any meaningful work done. Saw Gwyneth Paltrow in here once. She seems really nice. Not at all the terrifying queen of Goop you hear about.
I espresso I ordered was okay. However the procedure of making it was quite surprising to me. But then most coffee places are a disappointment when it comes to making espresso. The staff was very nice and the coffee was served in a glass cup (coffee patrons would understand) so I give a 4 star
Great place to get your coffee. On a nice day the outdoor seating is perfect for people watching. Coffee is, as always, really good. Donuts they carry are real treat too!
Edit: Apparently they’ve added standing space along the bar. An extra star for you, Stumptown. Original Review: Love this place and their coffee but have only once found a space for myself (and it was outside) and end up seeking out another shop for my coffee fix. I don’t begrudge people who are there to work or write or use their laptops because that’s half of what what a coffee shop is for, but I think Stumptown needs to figure out a standing table section or a standing-along-the-wall sorta thing in addition to most of the tables and chairs they have. It might mean that they have to move the merchandise to the left of the door or put the standing area in an awkward space but I can see how it might be done effectively. Mr. / Ms. Manager, feel free to hit me up if you need help with this, I’ve got plenty of ideas lol
I saw many 5 stars raving reviews of this place. So I tried it out.Coffee beans: EthiopianRoast: between medium and darkType of coffee: cappuccino (1/3 espresso and 2/3 steamed milk)First look: beautiful latte art and perfect amount of foam for cappuccinoFirst sip: I love the first sip of cappuccino. I was expecting a bold med/dark roast flavor with hint of mysterious berries. Instead, I tasted a hint of over roasted beans mellowed out by milk and foam. I couldnt believe my taste buds so I tried my second sip. The result was the same, the taste of burnt beans, a hint of Starbucks coffee.Overall, I enjoyed my cup of coffee because the amount of milk and foams and the temperature of the milk were perfect. It is a rare commodity even in NYC to find a professional Battista like this.I will definitely come again.
Its connected to the lobby area at the Ace Hotel. You can order to stay and find a nice comfortable couch to lounge within the lobby area.Theres going to be a line pretty much anytime during the day, but it does move pretty quickly.Mocha is excellent as its tremendously smooth without being overly sweet.Cold brew on nitro is perfect for the summer season!
Coffee was great and the inside made me feel like had stepped into corporate 1980s
Its clear that these guys know what theyre doing - every last tiny detail, from the careful selection of pastries from extremely high-end yet relatively uncommonly-used local bakeries, to the small gilded letters that wish you good luck underneath every cup, implies a level of experience and competence that is very rarely seen in New York, even amongst the best of the espresso places out there. These guys just get it, and it shows. My picks would be the latte (served in a large tumbler if requested) and Magpie hand pies if available. Try to get there early to secure a seat as frequent visitors tend to hang around for a while.
