If youre a coffee person, and want authentic coffee without all the commercial nonsense, go to the best...COLUMBIA...enough said.
Their brewed coffee was good, balanced and perfect with milk. Next time I’ll try the coffee with cardamom. They also offer empanada on the menu instead of the usually cafe pastries like croissants or muffins.
I was introduced to Juan Valdez in it hometown of Colombia. Soo good I bought a bunch to return home. And then I ran out, so I decided to google to see if I would be able to order and ship some to myself. And I found we had one in NY!!!!And it did not disappoint. Juan Valdez in Colombia is everywhere and super delicious, I’m glad it didn’t lose its authenticity when it made it to New York! I love it here!
Lovely coffee shop with ample seating (tables and chairs, perfect for impromptu meetings) and bathrooms. Delicious Colombian coffee with a variety of cold and hot options (arequipe, or caramel, was amazing). Good selection of treats and sweet appetizers. Prices somewhat similar to those of bigger coffee chains but better portions. A bit of a slower service than what Im used to, but overall recommended.
Juan Valdez is in town! I’d love to see more stores open up through out the city.Great coffee shop, great location! The coffee served here is exquisite and the prices are very fair. This store has adequate seating and the background setting makes you feel as if one is in touch with the green outdoors, nice touch.
Nice locale. Decent space. Friendly staff. Coffee was good.
As a Colombian American (born in Colombia) I sincerely hope my review is unbiased. Juan Valdez disappointed me my first time around, I had come bearing the end of the day and missed out on the cultural baked goods. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a second chance. Upon my second visit I was greeted with the baked goods from my infancy: pandeono, buñuelos, and even arepa de choclo. These were not as original as I remembered, but they were definitely top quality (even in contrast to all the boroughs in New York). But this place is more than just the baked goods, it’s about the historic importance of this Colombian national treasure–the coffee. The coffee here does not disappoint, it’s as good here as it could be and the it stands far beyond my expectations of Colombian coffee imports. Lastly, the place is perfect for working or gathering–it’s as if it was planned specifically for large group meetings. From a New York Colombian American to the public: please do yourself justice and visit the mother of all Colombian cafe’s– Juan Valdez
They use plastic, really shame on you. The ocean that you are destroying will affect the future generation and will shorten your life span. Basically all the plastic either goes to landfills or 2% goes to recycling then the ones from landfills goes to the ocean where is either kills animals like fish, turtles, dolphins, whales or decomposes into tiny pieces that you cant see without closly looking and the fish eat it.
Delicious coffee drinks. Accommodating staff. Nice vibe.
Colombian coffee...gift from God. Amazing coffee. Friendly staff. Highly recommend. Loved the cafe on East 57th Street in Manhattan.
Totally rude customer service. Dont even know how to make a proper coffee. When asked about it started shouting.
Very good coffee and service. The food is good as well
Very good coffee. Quiet place to read and sip.
A colombian cafe of the juan valdez coffee corp.I usually have an espresso and a pan de bono(a breakfast bread).the staff is very polite and professional.
The nicest staff ever! The cafe con leche tasted a bit watered down sadly, but the environment made up for it. Will probably go back and just try something else.
Good coffee, and very cheap (around 50% Starbucks). Extremely hot though! The place is nice and very clean. It is also coworking friendly, has good WiFi and internet speed is around 100MB.There is a big table and work spots in the back, so the place is very recommended if you are looking for a table and a comfortable chair while having a good coffee and enjoying your tablet or pc.We came here a few times after discovering it, and in the future will do it again for sure!.Service is nice and baristas are very gentle with everyone. They speak English and Spanish.
I order something and I get just part of the order and nothing was fresh, the buñuelos were really old and had bad flavor.
The quality at Jaun Valdez is always a highligh. Great coffee is a given, not only because of the exquisit varieties they provide, but also in reason of competent barists that actually listen to their costumers. Nice selection of pastries. And they actually know how to make agua de canela - a no small feat. This location adheres to proper Covid protocols and the staff is very helpful.
It was close during open hours
The coffee is not too good
Best Coffee Ever! The baristas are amazing! Love the Arequipe Nevado!
Great service!
Love this place
They have really great coffee :D
Beautiful olace, geat greay cofee. The two guys that serve the place in Sundays afternon are absolutely kind and helpfull.
Best Colombian coffee in town.
The worst Colombian place. Food is nice but the service is bad. Delivery take so long always and when I call they never answer the phone. And when they answer they always say “is because we have change of workers”.
Amazingly tasty. Thats all i have to say.
Good coffee. Really good.
Had coffee yesterday at this coffee shop and when returned home my wife realized she had lost her valuable watch, probably but not sure, at the shop. She went back and asked if anyone had found it. The person she spoke to could not be bothered. Then today tried to call but their phone number goes straight to a fax machine. Calked has 411 information and they said the coffee shop had no phone number at all. Called Juan Valdez 1-800 number and they said they were just the coffee bean supplier and had no phone number for them. Cannot believe a coffee shop on 57th street in the heart if NYC has no phone to get in touch with them. While the coffee was delicious the inability to call them and their lack of interest or concern negates everything else. Will not return there.
I love this place.the interior design is cozy and gives an elegant and informal touch at the same time. The coffee is authentic from Colombia and the staff serving the cafeteria is excellent. The appetizers they offer are divine. I recommend this place
High quality coffee, friendly staff and comfortable environment. Nice to see the NY location after spending time in most of the Colombian cafes. Unique products and flavors. Recommend trying the pastries and arepas.
I love this place especially for Cold brew and cold brew lattes. If you get a cold brew latte unlike most places they use a much stronger concentrate which allows for you to add the milk in without creating a diluted taste. Because of this you are able to get the texture of a tradional iced latte but the fresh and delicate flavors of the cold brew in a well craft cup. Very reasonably priced too... Five stars for me based on cold brew.
Excellent experience. They have some really good coffees from Colombia and some tasty pastries as well. The staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are ok and the store is clean and big with plenty of seating.
Very nice place a and great coffee. 👌👌
I was really eager to try some of their Colombian pastries as a Colombian myself. Unfortunately, I only left with a pan de queso (the donut-shaped bread on the top left next to the croissant sandwich) onas they barely had anything on a Saturday morning. It wasnt busy at all and the employee said they had run out of items the day before. That was disappointing, but sadly, the the pan de queso was also a let down. Small compared to most other places Ive tried and the texture revealed it to be probably a bit old which wasnt surprising since they didnt have anything on a Saturday morning and again, the employee said they run out the previous day? What does that have to do with today? Anyways, if youre gonna get something, make sure to tell them to warm it up. Ill be back to try other things and hopefully itll be a better experience and it would be unfair to judge a place solely on one item. I didnt even try the coffee! The employee was kind and I see promise.
Plenty of space inside. For New York, it was really surprising. The coffee is really great and the atmosphere is quiet, but not pretentious. I was able to purchase 3 items and still keep it under 10 dollars, so the prices are definitely reasonable. The only thing was that there was a lack of savory treats, and the treat I did get didnt seem to be executed the way it should have been. Other than that, I recommend it and will come back if I am in the neighborhood.
I love this place! Design is amazing! There are two different environments when dining at Juan Valdez Cafe. If you choose to sit at the front of the cafe you get a more lively, upbeat and cool (Air conditioned) vibe. If you sit towards the rear of the cafe youll experience this peaceful, relaxing and totally laid back vibe. Its incredible. Two completely experiences but the service and products are always exceptional.
I like their Irish Cappuccino !Really great taste!Thank you guys! I’m your fan!
Pretty chill place. The workers are polite and respectful. The service is good. The bathrooms are clean, which is always a plus. Theres plenty of seating here and honestly its pretty chill. Great for group studying or simply coming alone to chill and read.Only had a cold coffee and it was decent. Not amazing but decent. Ill have to try out more stuff and edit this review.
Fine taste
I loved, is my special coffee, very friendly and wonderful store
Airy space with high ceilings. Solid coffee but decor and style feels a bit dated. Good place to bring a laptop though!
10/22/2016-Awesome! Very pleasant. Ive been looking for a coffee place to make my own. In need of a nice place to concentrate to write away, and Ive found it. I havent met all the employees, but Jaime and a Colombian guy were great! Very kind and nice people. Ill be back. Thanks for the hospitality!
Campesino is the coffee beverage of choice
Great staff. Relaxing environment. I got some bottled green tea and used the space to study
Made our first visit, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the coffee and the unique choices for drinks on the menu.I had the Cortado, which was prepared perfectly. It was crazy busy, but the staff were bet friendly and welcoming. We sat in the window and watched people walk by, which was pleasant. We never felt rushed out encouraged to leave.Definitely a great place to stop if you want to avoid those yucky national chains for coffee.
Real quality coffee right here.
Everything but the music and the fact that the front looks abandoned. Being a Colombian place Id expect more Colombian music to make the space pleasant and authentic. The coffee was great (I tried the Campesino), the almojabana was very good and the layout is just fine.
Superb coffee in a nice big space. You can almost always get a seat here. Suitable for catching up on work, or grabbing a quick snack with friends or co-workers. The baked goods are deelish. The staff is friendly and organized on my every visit. This is my go to spot in midtown. Im a little biased though cause 🇨🇴... ¡Disfrutar!
Very patient, accommodating, and friendly staff members. My customized iced latte was so delicious I ordered a second one for a friend I was meeting a little while later. The almond croissant/filling was really good, especially with some honey for the dryer outer edges.Thank you all!
Lovely place and really good coffee. Would definitely recommend
Good coffee, tasty cheesecake BUT awful service - three people being the counter who cannot take an order as they do not know what is on theirs own menu. They have no idea about specials advertised next to the entrance, they cannot make coffee to order first time right... Hopefully it was something wrong with them only today...
A very nice, pleasant, not overcrowded respite from Starbucks. The coffee is as good or better, great customer service, comfortable seating. A favorite on my list!
I went right before they close not too many options (bakery) big space, good location definitely I want to come back
Chill vibes, great chai latte, excellent space to do work in. I go frequently even though its not very close to where I live
Great spot with good coffee and cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately they eventually turned on music, in the result everybody stated talking louder, which made place quite noisy.
The best ever I’m a Starbucks fan but Juan is the best hands down !!!!!
Good place to relax with coffee or get work done. I think the coffee is subpar, nothing to rave about for someone who knows good coffee..but its a cup of coffee, just nothing special. The place is designed excellent and very comfortable, that part deserves 5 stars..the coffee loses a star. Not saying not to go there, because I do, but try for yourself to see your thoughts.
Very good coffee. Clean. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food selection is average for a coffee shop. From time to time I go back home with an instant coffee jar which is an excellent option.
Great great coffee. Fair prices. Helpful staff. Starbucks can close!
The coffee was surprisingly good. The space is ample and nice. It appears like its a little bit of a franchise, so its missing the New York feel. But other than that its a good place to go for a cuppa Joe
The carrot cake is exquisite. I loved the frosting 👍
There is so much space to study and catch up with friends. There are lots of drinks options but wish there were more munchies. Service is uber friendly and efficient. Drinks are pretty tasty. I also wish there were more outlets. Its a good haven to study.
I visit this place fairly regularly and every pastry item I’ve tried, especially the Colombian baked goods, are amazing. Also the unique but still simple coffee flavors are awesome! Try the cardamom coffee.
I visit 5 times a week Im very impressed with employees very polite very well-spoken everybody from the cashier to other is making coffee is very polite very friendly especially the young male with an m mikkail this guy should be trained as a restaurant general manager hes very attend to the customers he always willing to help othersThis concert a coffee is very wealthy especially in economy they will live I-10 this concert will kick other companies a copy because they do the same copy the other companies do for less money so I guess its Starbucks have a competition now hopefully this young man will have the opportunity to grow up in this company he will be up the tension Revenue double revenue for this company the way he treats to customer
Hands down the best coffee in the area. Bold, strong and rich. The staff is quick, courteous and the women are a treat in itself to look at! Love this place!
My wife swore by this place and said we had to check it out. So we did that. I got a Arequipe latte, which has a caramel flavor. The baristas were having a good time and enjoying what they did. I highly recommend this place to get you morning started!
Superior coffee, relaxed environment. Great place to study or recharge yourself and/or your electronic devices while sipping great ☕ and a tasty treat.
I really enjoyed this place. Excellent coffee and pastry plus a good atmosphere.
Love the decor and ambiance, good coffee for a quick stop or a longer recharge.Tried the Cafe Campesino it was not as good as Ive had it before. Ill keep coming back and recommending this place!
Very disappointed with management and customer service . The barista was not trained properly on how to make the drinks the manager or the person did not care he kept on cleaning i waited 25 mins for a nevado i will never come back.
Delicious colombian coffee in NYC! You can enjoy some snacks such as arepa de chocolo, buñuelo o pan de bono. Very good service, nice enviroment and clean area.
The coffee is perfect! I always order the nevado 🤤🤤 it makes me feel like I’m in colombia 💖💖
Met a friend from Venezuela to talk and chill and it was very pleasant. The coffee is great, the staff is really nice and the prices are on point for the quality you get.
