Devocion is a stylish coffee shop and roastery serving fine caffeinated brews and small eats. it is close to both Union Square & Madison Square Park. the large interior is aesthetically pleasing with its use of wood, open brick, and modern sensibilities to create an oasis for coffee addicts. there is a ton of interior seating as well as covered outside seating. this is a busy shop, so don’t be surprised by a small line inside.my go-to is the nitro cold brew. it’s smooth and delicious. everything you want in a cold brew…strong coffee in a chilled pour. quality of coffee is evident in coffee sorcery at Devocion. my only knock on it is the serving is soooooooooo small like 12 oz small (i think) and is priced around $5ish + tax + tip. again, wish it was a larger size though.staff is fast, not much chatter.
Awkward space planning, drip was average, espresso drinks were hot and well pulled. This location (there are three in NYC) always seems to have a line snaking through the tables, patrons pushing into seated elbows, awkward entry exit point. The big BK location is much better. Often times courtesy is second to expediency here. Also this random Thursday two of the three staff were late for work, the whole shop noticed due to the employee’s loud apologies. Still a great shop, best in the vicinity. Good place to go during a visit to the nearby farmers market on Saturdays. Not good to meet multiple friends or plan to sit awhile.
Very affordable and wonderful coffee shop here in our area! Last Monday night, I came here to relax while sipping your hot mochaccino. I was so happy and satisfied with your service, guys. Thanks to your staff for saving my order immediately. You expect me to recommend your shop to everyone! Thanks a lot!
Cute cafe wish they did a chai latte
Really cute place. I’m guessing the coffee is amazing because the line always had 2 or 3 people, but it’s FREEZING and they’re non-coffee selection is seriously lacking
We ended up here because every other place in Midtown was to-go only. We enjoyed our drip coffee and oat cappuccino (they use Oatly which I like). Very cold inside though, so we opted to sit outside (they have 2 tables).
Last week, I visited this coffee shop. I was really impressed by the place itself. The calming atmosphere was so good. The espresso they had was very delicious and not too strong. I like the bittersweet taste of it. The cake was so delicious and satisfying. The barista was so pleasant to talk with. I will surely visit this place again.
Devocion has it all! they do specialty coffee right — some of the BEST i have had in NYC. their black coffee and espresso are divine, and that’s all you really need... it’s a beautiful space with plants and a rustic, minimalist interior. they serve a refined selection of excellent pastries… i get the leek & parmesan croissant.
While the indoors looks nothing short of amazing the cortado I had was definitely nothing worth coming back for. I ordered it with oat milk and the Toro blend of beans which smell really nice in the bag. However the way it was extracted still had plenty of room for improvement, since the taste profile was simply flat. I exclusively drink oat milk flat whites and cortados, also at home, even with the exact milk they use here, and therefore I can pretty certainly say with confidence, that the coffee was lacking body and also acidity.
The coffee and croissants are delicious. Isaac was wonderful, professional and thoughtful. Sadly I found the other staff rude. Isaac was publicly criticised in front of customers by one of his colleagues.
Best coffe expresso in town! They use Colombian fresh ground coffee.
Hands down the best coffee in New York City. Love the staff and the vibeee
Super cute place!! The AC is cold which is PERFECT for the summer, but bring a sweater if you plan on staying! The whole vibe is just perfect!
Coffee was okay, but the ambience was great! The Americano was too bitter and sour for me.
Excellent coffee and cool space for catch up and working
I really enjoyed my latte both times we stopped by. The shop is pretty and service was great. They have milk available if you need to add some extra. The only problem is that’s impossible to sit anywhere. The place is packed with people with laptops and they stay there all day. We stopped by on weekend and during weekday and it was the same. There was no available tables and waiting for one accomplished nothing.
The best latte Ive ever had and the aesthetic is so nice. Good customer service.
Great coffee and friendly service. Their croissants are surprisingly good too.
Nice. The table and couch placement is actually really quite uninventive if you think about it. You could do a lot more with the place.
Very affordable compared to other coffee shops in New York. But please please please bring some flavors to your coffee. They don’t even have vanilla or anything at all to add to the lattes.
Nice little place with spacious seating and good coffee.
Lacked pastry choices but the coffee was good and loved the vibe
What a comfortable and airy Cafe with bricks and “green” chandelier in Flatiron district. Devoción is a 100% Colombian Coffee house... was told the beans are sourced right from Colombian farmers and roasted never more than 10 days later in its Williamsburg Roastery. I was luckily today to have the barista taking time to prepare my Colombian Pour Over with passion!
Devocion coffee is outstanding. I had a pour over that was so smooth with a nice fruit note...so good my wife drank it black and she never does (natural process, Columbia). My Cortado was well crafted and tasted great. Cookies and pastries were good, Id recommend the warm Snickerdoodle cookie. Staff was friendly, space was modern and cool, what youd expect from a NYC coffee house. Come here and sample their great coffee, youll not be disappointed.
Quaint adorable coffee shop. Reasonable prices.
I have been coming to this Devocion ever since they opened, even during the pandemic panic I came to support them. But recently they have been charging extra for less ice, the reasoning was more milk cost money. I have drank coffee/tea all over the world and never been charged extra before. Today I came in ordered, then forgot to ask for less ice, told the lady afterward to put less ice, she said :Oh I should of charged you for that, you know I ALWAYS charge you for that. I cant believe theyr that CHEAP, just for a few extra drops of milk will make them lose a loyal costumer. Im sorry im going to give my $$ to other coffeeshops now.Coffee 5/5Environment 5/5Staff 1/5Extra charge for less ice 0/5
Cute setting with delicious coffee! Make sure to try the sparkling cascara, made from fermenting the fruit of the coffee bean! It’s fresh, refreshing, and just delicious.
Excellent coffee done right if you like light roasts with floral notes... like a great tea, but coffee. Drink it black and enjoy the rare treat of coffee that tastes the way it should. I never really had time to hang out there but it has a great vibe and, before COVID, I would see lots of people hanging out there (big demand for seating). Theyve moved to door-front service only during the pandemic, not sure if theyre even still open but I hope they survive the shut down.
Great coffee is not just great coffee, it’s an entire experience from the process of buying it until you drink it, the staff here made this experience awesome, don’t be afraid to ask!
Awesome espresso!! Cool spot
A wonderful addition to the neighborhood (about a year old as of January 2020). The coffee beverages are excellent, the pastries are very good (try the spinach feta croissant), the staff is friendly, and the space is hip and high-ceilinged. It also has a big, clean private bathroom. I just wish that it had (1) a broader selection of pastries and (2) more seating. Its a popular hangout and the tables are well-spaced, i.e., not crammed in, so seating runs out quickly. I will definitely return.
Great quality coffee but rude staff. I went to the 20th st location of Devoción and was disappointed by the person working there. (Sunday, May 16) they gave me an attitude when I asked for the wifi password and proceeded to rudely place a sign on the table I was sitting by-stating the time limit for seating. Despite there being available seating around.
Best Coffee around... Also they are fair trade.
Great service!!! One of the best coffee Ive tried
Nitro cold brew is a 8 oz cup. Biggest rip off ever.
Ive been going to Devoción for years. Great coffee, pastries, atmosphere. Unfortunately Ive had a few bad customer service experiences recently at the Flat Iron location. Please, dont hire people who communicate in a passive aggressive manner. Im ultra polite and smiley so I dont deserve that
Nice little shop with gold coffee and a nice staff near several parks
Best coffee ever
Great coffee, comfy couch
Their coffee was delicious. I got excited that they had pistachio milk (!!!) But it was sweetened so I couldnt try it.
The best coffee in the city and I have tried them all! This is hands down in terms of flavor, temperature, taste (non-acidic or no tart after taste) the best coffee in Manhattan. Better than any other coffee spot, Australian cafe, artisanal blah blah. The care they take in making every cup is obvious and you will want to come right back for a second once youre done with your first cup! There is limited seating inside. Some pastries available also. Dont go anywhere else - just come here if you want a coffee to write home about! There is an outpost in Brooklyn for those out that way.
Over- roasted and acid at the same time. a am dunk.
Really did not like the cortado for the price .
Coffee making was so clean and taste perfect.
Coffee shop with a vibe
Great coffee!
I had a short business meeting here. It’s s suitable place, but I wouldn’t go back.I had hot chocolate, which was amazing. No food really... only a minimal section of pastries. No gluten free options. The ambiance is ok. Overall brightly lit & lacked any character or interesting design elements. It’s great for take out coffee & hot drinks, but no to hang out & meet a friend for coffee.
Wish they had more coffee options, and better mugs. I’m not sure if the water was boiling or their mugs just absorb all the heat, I could barely touch and sip from it. Nothing really special with their coffee menu. But they do have Aromaticas (like fruity tea) which I love so much.
Toxic work environment
The atmosphere is really great here and the pour overs were really tasty. They were low acid and fruity and really opened up as you drank them. For the price and amount of coffee you get it was a little much, even for NYC. If cost was no object it would be a five star.
Cozy and multi ethnic
Awesome coffee, friendly staff, what’s not to like? Love the Brooklyn locations too.
Cool coffee shop
Insanely comfy couch. Wonderful iced coffee. Perfect ambience to work in or to catch up with friends in. The tall windows, walls, and ceilings help to add to spacious feel, especially for a NYC coffee shop.
Everything about this place, from coffee to decor is impeccable
Grrreat vibe and coffee
Nice little coffee shop! There are quite a few tables available so seating is usually not a problem. The coffee here is consistently tasty.
Comfortable place. Good location. Meet a date here or a friend. Turns over
Great coffee with great service!
Devocions original location is a massive, gorgeous coffee shop in Brooklyn. This location is much smaller, but they borrow elements of the original. This location in the Flatiron District has brick walls, a few couches, and plants hanging from a light fixture near where you order. There are plenty of seats and many outlets throughout the space. The coffee itself is decent too!
Love both locations! Relaxed and spacious interior, with beautiful botanic decorations! Enjoyed my time here sipping on great coffee and tasty pastries.
One of my favorite coffee shops except that the Saturday morning baristas are repeatedly not nice. They dont return my “good morning” or smile which is fine but two Saturdays in a row, the drip tasted off. I politely let them know the second time I noticed but they seemed offended. Repeat customers shouldn’t have to deal with that kind of attitude
The coffee is great, the space is beautiful, with a nice crowd. Good spot to do some lite work.
Love the flavor. Their spaces are really nice too, especially on Livingston St in Brooklyn. Worth a visit to try for yourself.
I loved the carrot bundt cake! I got my usual cortado but it I still prefer the coffee at Stumptown or Felix but its a good option of your in the area. The interior is beautiful, but FYI they dont have wifi so if youre looking to get work its not the best option.
Overhyped coffee spot. Do urself a flavour and go to Home Depot for all your construction needs. Make sure to protect yourself and use hand sanitizer.
Wanted to check out this Chelsea location since I’ve been to the one in Williamsburg and liked it. It was ok and cute enough but was rather small with limited seating and not much selection in terms of pastries and such. Maybe because I expected more...It is a long narrow space and didn’t really feel intimate nor interesting in any way. I often go to different coffee places for atmosphere in addition to the coffee. If you’re in the area and want a reliable coffee that is not a chain then it’s convenient but I don’t think it is a destination in itself.
Went there to work because it was recommended by Google map as a “coffee to work”. But this place doesn’t have WiFi which to me looks like they still live in the 20th century. Very disappointed with the experience. Please fix your search results with Google.
Great coffee, nice service, lovely space. Hard to get a seat, but patience works. Isnt as big as it looks in pictures.
For direct trade, small batch Colombian coffee, Devocion is the place to go.
Coffees nice but stars deducted for BS no cash policy.
Small place but definitely with character. Good coffee
Would be 5 stars if they had Wi-fi. Smart move not to have it otherwise people would stay here indefinitely so I understand it business wise but whoa... thats cheap
Great decor and friendly baristas! Not a ton of options but great mainstay
