I was totally craving for some French Pastries, what best time to get it when in NYC. Found this place while walking around in Manhattan. We were so hungry and decided to try different items on their menu. The pastries looked so beautiful just like on the streets of Paris. They were not very sweet, just perfect as I wanted them to be. The apricot pistachio tart is a must try. Chocolate croissant was delicious too. They got lots of caffeine options at their cafe! Cant wait to go back.
We enjoyed an excellent brunch at this cute Cafe and Bakery. We were happily able to be seated quickly and were very impressed with the choices available. We tried asparagus and egg Tartine and the croissant and egg and both were fantastic. The asparagus had an Added Touch of truffle oil that really brought a rich earthy taste to the meal. The croissant had sauteed spinach underneath the eggs and was quite delightful. We visited Paris a few months ago and these were the first croissants that really stood up to what we ate there. As we looked around at our fellow diners, we saw several other dishes that were very appealing, including the Nutella toast, the oatmeal, and others.Prices were very reasonable for the area and the dining area is quite enjoyable to spend time in. The service was good and our waiter was very helpful in choosing a meal.We will definitely be back next time we are in town.
Amazing breakfast place! On our first visit, we got our meals to go. My husband grabbed some pre-made sandwiches, but they were nothing compared to my Croque Madame – I highly, highly recommend it!! And the Pain au Chocolate was so light and crispy. We decided to eat in on our second visit. I had the smoked salmon & egg cocotte (basically, a tiny Dutch oven). Good service, very clean establishment, and cute décor. Seems like a busy, popular place. Also, there are tiny tables pushed close together - which we are not used to at all - but this seems to be the norm in NYC. On our next trip to the city, we will 100% visit here again.
AMAZING BAKED GOODS! But is not a great overall experience. Why? Some of the staff are not pleasant at all. In the other hand, I was definitely shocked to find out that if you seat you’re basically giving your permission to be ripped off with and astonishing 2X the price of anything. Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame, although the difference is just an egg, you’ll be paying $7 for 1 in the counter against $17 seating. It’s outrageous... get in here take their goods from the counter and do yourself a favor and don’t sit... i felt mocked. Good that I did realize on time! There’s also open siting in front of the coffee if you need to. I really don’t like when you find this harsh contrast between service and product.
Went in December 2019 - Girlfriend and I enjoyed the best sandwiches in NYC.
Don’t go another day without the spinach and cheese (warmed) croissant. It is a beauty. Great service and high quality food - particularly for a chain. Didn’t try the coffee but must do next time. I might go back again today. It was just too good.
The food here was great. I had some smoked salmon on bread. The best part of the meal are their pastries. I had one of their almond chocolate croissants It was amazing! I would definitely have again.
First time here, loved our experience! We both ordered breakfast items to share, and the food was delicious. Customer service was excellent!
Love the pastry and baguette here. The restaurant featured a 2 item meal with a sandwich or salad and dessert for a reduced price. I only wish they served wine. No alcohol here in the restaurant.
Beautiful bakery. I highly recommend the Almond Croissant. I ran from my hotel down the street in the rain to get some. Fabulous!! The kind gentlemen working there put the paper bag in a plastic bag so they wouldnt get wet on my run back to the hotel.
We just ate at this place. Food was ok, but not justifying the price. Our bill was $ 36.something. We left $ 40 in cash, because that’s what we had left. The server (a young lady) approached me and said if I was not going to leave a tip. I answered that she can keep the change. She said that that was not enough and the tip should’ve been around $ 6. I am speechless. That was all we had left, money wise... if we had more, we would’ve left more, but for someone to demand more tip.......unbelievable.....
What a fabulous find. Had the most delicious fresh raspberry tart and tea. Staff very welcoming. Highly recommend.
This is a great little bakery with French breakfast items to go along with a good selection of yummy baked goods. Tasty coffee, too. It was busy on a Saturday morning but we didn’t have to wait for a table. Smaller servings (like Europe) and good service.
Pretty good French style bakery with a small space for cafe seating at the back if you want a quick place to dine and dash. The counter and table service is very good given how busy it can get and the food is decent for the price.
When I first visited this location there was no host in the front. I ordered a pastry and coffee tried to walk to the back but was told that I couldnt eat back there. On my visit a couple of days ago, I had a whole new experience where Nakema greeted me at the door, explained the process and made me feel more welcomed then I ever did. My server was John who also provided a better understanding of menu options and a fast service.
There is nothing in this world as good as a properly made Baggett. All of the breads are profoundly good. Love this place.
Food is above average...service is poor at best. Cashier was rude and server wouldn’t even place a tea in hot water for me. Plenty of other places to spend your money in Manhattan.
We had the best almond croissant 🥐 here that we have ever tasted! The Barista also mixes a mean cappuccino!! With locations literally all over the city, it is a great spot to grab a salad, sandwich or pastry.
Good gluten free options and great salads. We went at a slower time, during lunch/dinner, so the service was fast and there was a place for us to sit in the back. It was a good place to stop and grab something pre-packed for dinner. The desserts look as beautiful as they tasted.
Servers were great. Food nice and reminiscent of Paris. The desert was my least favorite part. Surprisingly since its a French bakery.
Despite the crowd the food was absolutely delicious. I got the grapefruit juice with their famous French toast. The food and service were excellent.
I love this chain - its like a piece of Paris in the U.S. - but this location was not my favorite. I ordered a chocolate almond croissant and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was very good, but the croissant was over baked and super dry/crumbly. Also, there is not very much seating in front, so I felt in the way the entire time I was there. I originally planned to be seated and get table service, but when I saw there was a counter and no hostess around, I thought I had to order myself, so I missed out on that experience. A misunderstanding, but still rather frustrating.
Great Breakfast and Pastries and great service. Very popular
The server and cashier were very rude. Went to sit and order and a server said that i had to order first and then sit. It took like 10 minutes to order because the cashier of the only open register was gone. After ordering, we went to sit when another server told us that the back was closed for people ordering from the kitchen. Quite contradictory to what the first server said. Yet when the customer after us wanted to order food from the kitchen, they said that they were closing in 40 minutes... a very disorganized and uncomfortable cafe/restaurant to sit at. The hot chocolate was good but not worth the service. Not coming back.
I had only a pastry and the service was pretty quick. Not a lot of people come here and the atmosphere is friendly. The place is decent sized. It even has a mini cafe where you can sit and drink coffee while eating your pastry.
I gave 5 to balance all the comments about service. They are good people indeed, it could be communication or delay but they tried hard. My wife from LA said they have the best French toast she ever had! Coffee is good too.
The bakery really good, a little overpriced but worth it..Having that being said,The breakfast not worth a penny! For example - if you charge for a french toast 15$ try not to burn it and serve it to your not complaining clients. The service awful!!After the bad experience they’ve demanded to have fully 20% tip. A jokeee.
I love their croissant. They are one of the best in the city
Totally loved this place! It has a made to order small restaurant hiding in the back which is phenomenal!I felt like I was back in Paris..
Chocolates are fabulous, but bring your wallet. In the back a great place for sweets and Hot Chocolate. A good rest from walking around in thy he area.
A delicious start to our NYC holiday! We got in to the city super early, and were so happy to find them after we had wandered around for a bit. The baguette was delicious, as were the eggs. Im sure we will be by again for coffee and pastry as well 😌
Good coffee. Good service. Not too loud.
Robbing Ronald the waiter who tells you the minimum tip is 18%. I saw him hustle some non English speaking tourists telling them they had to tip him either the 18or 20% on the bill. Maybe if he had been nice and said usually people leave 18, but not our Robert the rude.Shame on you, a nice place cheapened by Robbing Ronald!!
Breads and baked goods are superior here not so much the egg dishes.
We went for breakfast and while the food was tasty and the service good, neither was exceptional. I had the sausage and egg tartine which was tasty, but the sourdough bread became soggy as I ate it. The pain au chocolate was a nice flaky croissant but had very little chocolate in it. The attitude, however, was exceptionally snooty, as I would expect from a French restaurant. My daughter ordered a dish that came with a sunny side up egg (which she doesnt like), but when she asked for a scrambled egg instead she was told that that dish only came with a sunny side up egg and that they wouldnt substitute.
Pretty good coffee and pastries but the lines can be long sometimes. The prices are a bit high, but not overly so.
Happened upon this delightful French restaurant and ate there each day of the trip. Its a little piece of France with wonderful food and lovely servers. I highly recommend it.
Honesty, I was expecting much better from a place that has so much good competition near by. The coffee I had was average. The pastries were all disappointing, save the pistachio cookie, which I actually liked.
Delicious fresh baked goods & cappuccino. During first visit the service was great. Returned twice & unfortunately the service was terrible. Second visit the girl at counter was too distracted to even look at me when I was placing order, she kept talking to her co-worker. The third visit was an even worse experience, asked to be seated only to wait at a table for over 10 minutes with no service I left & will not return to this location.
Great croque madame delicious pastriesIm giving 4 stars because bathroom wasnt clean
Nice selection. Early am service is always prompt.
Very busy, tasty pastries great service. No one rushing you to finish, great place to rest while youre walking around the city
Very fancy place but lacks cozyness, imho. Slightly overpriced too
Terrible waiter 3 tables got served before us and and food was not even warm 👎🏻
The food is delicious and high quality. Their Hot Chocolate and Pastries are beyond words delicious. My only dissatisfaction and concern was that when I sat down and placed my order, my drink order was changed to Large instead of Small and my pastry got $1 more expensive. So I didnt get that part?I ended up overpaying more than I initially wanted to spend.
A touch of Paris in NYC. Bold coffee, pastry and organic eggs!
Always and have been loving all the pastries, sandwhiches and coffees!! Absolutely fresh each time!
Food is good, but service needs a little work. Barely saw our waitress, other than when she took our order and brought our food. We had to ask for water and our check. This is New York...I dont have time to just sit and wait all day! I have to see the sites!
Coffee was ok. Tarts were great. They didnt let us seat at the many empty tables they had because we ordered at the counter!
Just had a coffee. Pricey as expected. We do order cakes, desserts and sandwiches from another Maison Kayser and those have been very good.
The food here is WAY overpriced. It’s nice, and I know it’s Manhattan, but you can get the same stuff somewhere a lot cozier for $5 less. And $2.50 for an average ‘Americano’ poured from a canteen is not a good deal. I ended up paying $23 for an okay avocado on toast and 2 small coffees. This is the only Maison Kayser I’ve been to, but the service here was so slow. It seemed like everyone was on their first day, trying to figure out the system - and it wasn’t even that busy! Might be good for a quick grab-and-go coffee + snack, but don’t settle for this place if you want a sit down brunch/lunch.
Love their almond chai lattes! My favorite afternoon treat. Their food is always great too.
I love this french bakery, everything is good and try mi-cuit, it should be heated in the oven
Staff was nice and everything looks heavenly- although not everything tastes really good and that’s a real problem when a place is relatively expensive. The Kayser Buche is heavenly (!), the texture and the flavors are perfectly balanced and totally worth every cents. But we also had a chestnut cake which didn’t taste like chestnut at all, and the chestnut layer on top seemed and tasted old and way too try, and the filling was overly sweet. Also, the place is kind of small so you can only sit down to eat your cake if you’re very lucky. I can truly recommend the Kayser Buche!
Came just to share pastries with my friends. friends. The Adagio was amazing chocolate heaven, the cardinal was a fan favorite, and the bressane was simply delightful. Finished the date off with a great mochaccino
Love this little cafe....even though it is a chain the food and ambiance is very French.
I love the Nicoise Salad to go, but if they run out, they wont make you one! (and they used canned tuna, so I dont know why they wont. Also, they NEVER pick up their phone so you cant find out if they have your dish before going out in inclement weather. You can leave a message, but they dont call back. Not sure why they bother with a phone at all. Would be 5 stars if they were more customer friendly. What a shame. Fortunately there are many other restaurants in NYC to chose from.
Went here yesterday and really enjoyed the tuna croissant sandwich I bought to-go.
This place is great! Perfect for small bites or big ones.
I eat there twice, different meals always good!
Croissants and other pastry & fantastic coffee. Along with a quick grab section for breakfast and lunch items. With a bar bu the window to perch at. The table service is great for a cozy breakfast with your friends. I reccomended the croque monsieur, pain au chocolate, croissant, almond croissant, madelines, and any other baked goods.Service was congenial and fast paced. The cafe was clean and bright.
Good pastries. Great rooibos tea.
I’m only giving this 3 stars because the staff behind the bakery counter were great and the bakery items I had were really good. A friend recommended this place as a “must try” and I set aside time in my day to specifically get here. However, I was extremely disappointed with the barista, which totally ruined the experience. I watched from near the bakery counter as my husband ordered a simple hot tea and she turned (so he couldn’t see) and rolled her eyes after he ordered (for no apparent reason!) I myself wanted to order a drink but after standing and looking at the menu a bit, she actually asked us “why are you still standing here?” So I didn’t bother ordering. What a let down. I’m sorry but that’s just unacceptable and rude.
Great place to enjoy your breakfast and coffee!!
Excellent place for deserts and light meals. The lentle soup is excellent.
Very good quiches and fresh produce with pleasant service. Doesnt feel like the usual fast food
We went for breakfast here and it was one of the worst experience. First of all the seating of this restaurant is really bad, it is so close to the other table that the servers have to squeeze in between tables, there is no room to breathe. The restaurant was packed on Sunday morning, however we got a table. There were only two servers working on such a busy time. We waited for 15 mins before we got servers attention to order our meal, before that no one even offered us water. The food took about 45 mins to come. While waiting few people just gave up and left the place, we should have left as well. The food was nothing special for the price we paid. It was the worst decision to come to this location. The staff looked like they were forced to work here. They seem rude and unhappy to be just there.
Everything Fresh. Staff very courteous. Great ambiance. Perfect for breakfast.
Nice place for a quick bite.
Tried a new Mason Kaysar in the city for a change. The other store that I used to solicit didnt always have the chocolate croissant that I always get when I come into the city so I said Ill try another and they did and plenty of them so I have a new place that I like to go still the same name same store but a different location as well they seem to be able to have more of the pastries that you desire on hand even late in the day
Lovely staff, plates and space. so good, especially dessert 💙
Nice atmosphere, friendly and decent foods
The place is small so you may have to wait for seating at the back but its worth it.
Love the pastry. Different, and assortment of delicious cakes & breads
