This is the second time I purchase from them. The croissant I got looks like a saggy uncooked dough this time. Obviously the dough isn’t cooked correctly and no layers inside the croissant. This should not been sale in the store. The quality control is bad. And I believe they try to cheat the customers with the defective goods when the the customers didn’t pay attention. Highly suggest that don’t trust the bakery they picked up for you and make sure the items they give you is from the showcase not from the under counter. Hope I can give them 0 star. The worst business is the dishonest one.
Was in the neighborhood and wanted a chocolate chip 🍪 cookie that I had not tried yet. Eclair bakery was a bit of a walk if you got off at the wrong end of the subway. as I entered, I could see there were so many choices..breads, cakes, pastries, gelato..they all looked good too. there was a bit of a line, even in midday which was ok since I got to see and hear what they were ordering. since I came for the cookie, thats what I got. and wow, it was soooo good! possibly one of the best I have had (and have tried them all). I can imagine that since the chocolate chip cookie was delicious, am sure the rest of the pastries, etc are worth a try. definitely, this place is worth a visit
Eclair Bakery has been one of the most popular places for French pastries and desserts, especially their eclairs in the neighborhood recently. We were there at 9am on a Sunday morning and there was a line at about 10am. We would recommend to come earlier to beat the crowd. We got 4 different croissants (Pistachio, Pecan, Almond and Hazelnut), a Spinach Danish, a testing box of 12 mini eclairs and 2 cups of coffee. It was a little pricy but well worth the price. Everything was delicious and delicate. Our favorites were the mini eclair, the filling was creamy & flavorful and the Almond Croissant, which was crispy with multiple layers.
This is where I began my mission to find awesome creme brulee and tiramisu.I arrived about an hour before close and ordered a small creme brulee and a tiramisu in a cup.I have come to the conclusion that tiramisu that isnt served in an actual cake form, just isnt going to be great. This one didnt change my mind. It was ok and had the basic tiramisu flavors but it was like a short of tiramisu pudding cup.The creme brulee was better. The woman took it caramelized the top so that it was warmer and the crunchy sugary top was freshly crunchy but I just dont think that these version that sit on bakery shelves can hold a candle to something prepared and served restaurant style. Im pretty sure its probably not even fair to compare. That being said, I would definitely come back to this shop. Service was good as was the coffee and I have a feeling that if I was buying trying true bakery items and not bakery version of restaurant desserts then Id really be happy. It may sound odd but Id give them a thumbs up despite not being thrilled with what I had.
It was an excellent restaurant and the food was delicious. I ordered a burger plate and it was very tasty. There was a nice person who served us so lovingly highly recommended!
This place is a gem. I wanted to buy everything but had to control myself. All their desserts are decorated so meticulously, I was drawn like a fly to honey. Loved the hazelnut eclair, it tasted like a ferrero rocher. But my biggest recommendation would be the passion fruit eclair - its bright, tart, and not too sweet. Definitely coming back for the rest of their pastries.
My favorite authentic French bakery! I always pick up some eclairs and croissants whenever Im in the area. You can see the vanilla bean specks in their eclair filling, and their croissants are perfectly crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside. I wish they would ship to other areas in NY!!
I went near closing time and had a pistachio almond croissant and a spinach danish. The pistachio almond croissant was great except a part of it where it had a bit too much salt in the filling. The spinach danish was underwhelming and something you can find anywhere. I will return to try eclairs and other desserts.
Yay yay yay... what a fantastic bakery nearny and it gives me le Financier feels.I tried the pistachio croissant and I sinned. Had planned to eat it over two days but it was so delicious, not sickeningly sweet and fresh crispy to the core.Coffee was delicious, I doubt any good bakery can go wrong with coffee unless you are dunkin donuts of course. One must try their hazel nut eclairs. This one has a crunchy crust and again its not overly sweet.Pistachio eclair was fine, they can do better. They seem to have a wide range of dessert and bread options. I have to try their tiramisu, macaroons, ice creams and chocolate croissant. Until next time.
This bakery offers a wide selection of eclairs, cakes, and pastries. The pastries are buttery and have a great balance of doughness and airyness which I like the best. The cakes and eclairs are not too sweet nor heavy so suit well even after a meal. Definitely worth a try for a dessert foodie. The only reason Im not giving 5 star is because the female cashier I encountered who tent to make mistakes, ie packing the wrong items, didnt offer receipts, etc. So you may want to pay attention to your order before laying/leaving.
The place was very clean, soft French music was playing at a reasonable level and the employees were welcoming. I ordered a hot chocolate and a palmier. The items are a bit pricey and hot chocolate was average; I couldve made a better drink at home. The palmier, however, was VERY tasty. I wanted to order another one! While I was disappointed with my drink, Id visit again for a palmier or try other pastries.
Best Eclairs in the area. For me it was the best Eclair I have had so far. Other baked items are also pretty good. Cant go wrong with this bakery.
I came to pick up an order for delivery. All employees are facing the customers on the line. I call Al pick up or delivery. The lady looks up at me ask whether I was on line or not. I said no I’m just going to pick up. She replies rudely but are you on line? I started to say no I’m here for pick up I did not see a pick up line. But she cut me off, mid sentence. Turned to someone else started talking. I walked out upset, but turned around and followed a Hispanic delivery guy back into the store. He showed his phone, they gave him his delivery order, and he walked out. No problem. This lady in the picture is very rude or doesn’t like certain people. If you know what I mean
Best bakery in town! We always order for special occasions and everything is a hit! From beautiful presentation to fresh, delicious flavors, this is the place to go!!
Likely better to get an eclair earlier in the day… I’m guessing this is why mine tasted stale? Good customer service, cute decor, but tables to be cleaned a bit more.
Love the new look of Eclair!!! I have been coming here for a while and love their varieties of eclairs and pastry. My favorite sweet are Macha Eclair and Cheesecake Eclair. As for savory, their Ham and Cheese Croissant is one of the best. Their Macaroon is not bad...they serve truly French style pastry. With the new look, they will surely can accommodate more customers and it will be packed, for sure!
The place is beautiful and spacious; When you enter, the smell of freshly baked cakes and pastries surrounds you. It is a perfect place for coffee and sweeten your day.
Quite possibly the best apple turnover of my life. Coffee is good as well
Eclair is one of the most successful, sophisticated, Bakery on the East side of Manhattan. The staff makes all the difference...they are courteous, attentive, Always smiling.....and the pastries..mmmmm, awesome!
Very nice and clean place. Eclairs are tasty and fresh but not the best, Ive had better. Little cakes, tarts, danishes, scones are very good, I mean excellent. Havent tried their hot beverages. Its a best little gem for baked goodies. I would highly recommend it.
While they have the best stuff as a bakery, the management could improve the outside place with some better chairs and tables. Outside area is not kept clean and their chairs are old. We all like to sit outside but it gets uncomfortable after a while to sit there. @Paris Baguette they changed the sitting outside and they put the best chairs and tables.
This is not your frozen foods isle eclair. Very unassuming from the outside, this place has some of the best pastry Ive tasted in a long time. Worth every penny and every calorie. Also espresso was very good.
Very cute, adorable and delicious place. The eclairs were delicious and the staff very friendly. Love the mini eclair package but I also had the cheesecake eclair with hot chocolate.. yummy
I had a Traditional éclair.. rather cakelike … didn’t seem very traditional in that sense. I would not order that again. Their Pastéis de nata are on point!
Sweets were very enjoyable. Would definitely be coming back for more.
I would rate it a 5 star from a food quality perspective. I only had a very bad experience with their in-house delivery service they charge $15 for no matter the distance. I had to call them 4 times to check on the the status of the items to be delivered. They had not realized it had to be delivered and the items arrived 45min late which is a lot for a $15 charge delivery 10 blocks away from their store! I complained about it but no commercial favor was made nor did I receive apologies.
A little pricey but worth the splurge once and a while. Then again- these prices are probably up to par with prices around here. We saw lots of locals come early in the morning. Tried the eclair but they definitely gave a good selection of French pastries. Super friendly service. They said they make and bake everything on site.
WOW ABFAB selection of foods. Delicious!
Got the chocolate mousse it was delicious. Havent tried the eclairs will definitely be back.
So worth it! The desserts are appealing to ALL senses! We tried several and they were all well made, delicious and authentic.
They have an impressive selection of delectable pastries and delicious coffee. The pastries are almost too beautiful to eat (but delicious).
Great little French bakery. So far Ive only tried their quiches, palmier, and cheese danish but everything has been delicious! Would definitely recommend getting the quiches heated up. My favorite has actually been the palmier even though I usually dont like sweets for breakfast (which is actually the reason I havent yet tried their eclairs yet despite them being their namesake). The crispy layers and delicate buttery sweetness pair amazingly with coffee, of which so far Ive tried and loved their iced latte.About as authentic as Ive seen in the city, even gaining the approval of one of my born-and-raised French friends who touts Eclair as closest to home (and she lived here for two years so she has definitely checked out the competition).
Love everything he makes.Would have liked a nicer and cleaner outdoor seating space.
Their eclairs are So so so delicious! Great variety, always fresh, amazing eclairs! I go here often and my favorite flavors are hazelnut, strawberry cheese cake, traditional, matcha, and almond crunch. I love the idea that they also have a sample box with mini eclairs So you can chose what flavor you like best.
My girlfriend took me to this bakery for her Milk Chocolate Eclair (sorry she ate it before I could click a picture :P) and my eyes got fixated on this small and cute looking Strawberry Shortcake! The cream on top was gooey and delicious with a base of mashed berries. It wasnt overly sweet yet so satisfying. I would love to order 10 of these at once, they were so good!!
Really good eclair, pretty expensive ($6.25 each)
Came in to place a big order and was ignored. I will not be returning.
Simply delightfulhad a delicious eclair and the price was reasonablecant wait to try other sweets
I visited this place twice...within 5 days of our NYC trip. It was just that good. The eclairs here are cheaper (though still pricey at $5.25 each) and BETTER than the ones at Dominique Ansel Bakery. And they have soo many flavors..Things I tried:fresh fruit tart - Basically a tart with pastry cream and raspberries on top. I also bought a large version of this. The crust was slightly thicker and more like a cookie.pear almond tart - The crust was nicely baked and very firm. I liked this one a lot more than the raspberry tart but I also like pears and almonds more than raspberries soo...traditional eclair - Pretty standard.dulce de leche eclair - My favorite of the bunch. Candied almond slices on top and the filling is a lot creamier than in the others.chestnut rum eclair - I like all sweets that are nut flavored and this was no exception. Not sure if I could taste the rum but the nougat pieces on top were a nice touchpistachio eclair - Was okay. If it wasnt for the green coloring and pistachio pieces, Im not sure I would have been able to tell the flavor.passion fruit eclair - Second favorite--very strong passion fruit flavor.almond crunch eclair - Similar to the traditional eclair with almond slivers on top.Everything was amazing.
One of my favorite dessert is eclair. It is like an elongated version of cream puff, which is another one of my favorite. When I heard there is a sweet shop who focuses on eclairs, I had to go there. We made it right before they were closing. Well, ok, we got there when they are in process of closing already. But I think my puppy eyes got to the staff, and they let us get couple of their eclairs. But then all of their eclairs looked sooooooo good, it was like jewels in the lit window showcase. I wanted like five or ten of them, but we decided on just two. And that was not easy… But we got to start somewhere, and the staffs were ready to close up and go home for the night. We got Cheese Cake and Dulce de Leche (we actually ordered Matcha...). Since I wanted to have all of their eclairs, I didn’t mind we got a different kind from the one we ordered. Both of them were super amazing and a total eclair heaven!I also discovered later that they have a tasting box which contains mini eclairs, I might want to get that the next time. Or, I can just keep going back there over and over, until I have tasted them all… The staffs there were really nice and friendly, despite the fact that we were delaying them from closing the shop, they still treated us with warm smile. Read my full review of this shop and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.
I’ve tried a lot of goodies from this place, but the macadamia cookie here is the bomb.
Coffee is delicious, pastry is also amazing. I noticed that pastry got much sweeter than before, which I do not like very much. Maybe they are just adapting to the American taste. Overall solid pastry shop with few good savory options: French quiche, cheese or spinach pies (heavy butter in this one), and savory croissants with cold cuts.
We love the bakery. Theyre baguettes and croissants are just delicious.
Great beverages, excellent pastries, nice atmosphere.
It was my first time. Good selection of pastries, I bought an almond eclair. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet. But I didn’t like the fact they do not put price tags so you have to ask price for each item. Also they do not ask if a customer needs a receipt, just assuming they do not. My main issue was with two girls over the counter, they were very rude. It was on March 2, 2019 around 8 pm. I asked for almond eclair and she packed almond crunch instead and gave me attitude when I asked to change it. Also she was reluctant to explain ingredients, I asked about filling of one of the eclairs bc I simply didn’t know and there was no menu on display, no description. That was very bad impression of the new place for me, so most likely I am not going back.
Their macaroons are the best Ive had in this city
Good selection of pastries a little too sweet for french...
Love the pastries and the atmosphere!
Everything here is delicious!
I love eclairs and I love this place. Small businesses like this one have been hit hard. With COVID, Im never in the area but it was a nice day so I walked 30 blocks to get their taster sampler for another eclair lover. Left a great tip, support small businesses like this one, this is one of the many places that make NYC, NYC.
Great bakery with gellato
Definitely a hidden gem! Loved this place and the eclairs are amazing
I’ve come here multiple times on my way home from work and I can vouch for their incredible Eclairs. They get flavor combos right all the freakin time! I also tried their milk chocolate eclair and their strawberry shortcake and needless to say, those were fabulous too! They definitely know their way around lip smacking desserts! MUST GO if you are in the area!
Amazing pastries, delicious!!!❤
This place is ok, the eclairs are not very tasty, I got disappointed.
Excellent experience.
Great local bakery. Everything is made onsite. I love all of the croissants and baguettes. Their desserts/tarts are great too. I havent tried the eclairs.
Filled me up. The service was sociable and attentive. The bill was appropriate. Mood here reminds me of San Diegos scene.
Nice eclair with different flavors. I like almond chocolate eclair and passion tart.
Deserves a higher rating. Best palmier I have had in nyc in a decade. On par with Paris, Montréal
French. Very french! Pastry, sandwiches, coffee all tasty.
Really delicious, good local dessert place
If you like to have a nice french croissant in NYC, this is the place.
Their chocolate hazelnut crunchy cake is the best chocolate cake in history. No exaggeration. I have eaten a lot of artisanal cakes and this one is king.
