Routine oil change on my Audi TT. Service was excellent--- the entire vehicle was checked out and the tech explained in detail the status mechanically. Very obvious he knew the product well. First experience with SMI and super impressed! Theyve got my business for good!

I came in to have my starter replaced and when they called they gave me a laundry list of repairs they said I needed including changing my wipers (which I had just replaced). They quoted me $1400 dollars. Of course, I said I just need the starter replaced. The pricing was pretty high, in my opinion, with the starter costing $260. They said they dont use AutoZone parts and only use quality parts, so hopefully it lasts! Everyone was nice and they got the job done quickly but I could have done without the attempt to coerce me into spending over a thousand dollars.

I take multiple vehicles there for all services, from late model german to 25year old japanese. Unbeatable care for you and your vehicles. Incredibly high quality of work. Always impressed with their communication through the entire process and especially the end product. Cant recommend them enough.

I was looking for a reliable mechanic in Louisville and finally found one. SMI Auto Service was professional, affordable, and fast at diagnosing my F150’s oil leak. They were very informative on the procedures to fix my truck. They made it easy to do business with them and I will continue to do so for my mechanic needs.

Work done in a timely manner and they kept me well informed of the status of the job. No one likes it when they need car repair work, but SMI gets it done right!

SMI inspected my car for engine light and discovered the problem could only be serviced by the dealership. I was not charged for this diagnosis. Will use them again when necessary.

St Mathews Imports worked on my Mercedes. It was having problems with the automatic leveling systems which they had replaced several months before however it appeared to have a leak. They kept the car for a long time putting it on racks and watching, measuring the leveling and eventually determined that it was the pump. I would have preferred for them to found that quickly but the fact that they were willing to take all that time and to determine the actual problem was very gratifying. I recommend them to anyone who needs work on an import.

Kenny was so helpful in quickly getting a 2nd opinion estimate back to me to compare to the dealership cost. There was a leak in my oil line as well as a few other routine (high mileage) maintenance things I was over due for, such as new spark plugs and R rear break replacement. The dealership gave me the quote which included just R rear break replacement and said L side was in well enough shape that I could hold off doing immediately (if I was concerned about keeping down the up front cost), but it would likely need to be replaced12 months. Not only did SMI come in a few hundred $$ under the dealership, the total also included replacing BOTH rear breaks at the same time. And they were very efficient in completing all the services. (Knowing dealerships are often higher, when my car needed immediate towing, I did try calling a couple other places first, but they were too backed, but could at least get it towed to dealership quicker, and a response of $$ estimate 3 days later. Then thought of trying SMI at point and they were able to work me in within a reasonable time frame.)

I called an automotive place to see about getting exhaust work and they gave me this number to call but I didn’t know what business I was calling. They told me they don’t do it and to call someone that does exhaust. I scrolled through google and found a number (I googled exhaust work. I accidentally called the same number and the lady was very unprofessional and hung up on me. She didn’t care to take her time to answer questions. I manage a company and I wouldn’t tolerate this behavior from customer service.

These guys are professional and timely. I went in to have them check my battery and alternator. Nothing was wrong... somehow, my battery just needed a charge and was very low. Anyway, they didn’t attempt to upsell or make “fake” repairs like most places. They were very good at communication, too! Thank you for your work & time. I will return if I’m ever in need.

I did not realize how rough my Mini Cooper was running until I went and picked it up, turn the key, put my foot to petal, and man it was like driving a new car again. Third time Ive used these guy and I dont want to have to go back, but I will if I need repairs to my Mini Cooper. 2 thumbs Up!

They were more than I could ask for. There was a glitch in my (admittedly finicky) car repair but Paul investigated, did the legwork to get the parts under warranty and charged me an extremely reasonable fee. That’s all you can ask for a car repair place. I will continue to use them.

I had several instances where my car would not start but after trying multiple times and wait a period of time (30-60 minutes) the car would start. Not knowing when this might happen was not good and I was referred to SMI by a friend.They were able to get me in the next day, clearly communicated what was found and recommended and I was able to pick my car up within 48 hours of dropping it off. So far, no issues with the new starter they installed.Good COVID procedures were in place and clearly communicated.Highly recommended.

They kept me updated as promised on the timeline and offered hands free drop-off & pick-up. They even went above and beyond and got the truck washed! I would highly recommend their services to anyone and I think I have found my mechanic.

Hands down one of the best experiences ever regarding the repair of my car. They were fast, and kept me up to speed with everything that needed to be done. I never felt like I was being sold any unnecessary work and was very pleased with the whole service.

SMI always provides excellent service. Their VW expert technician is a Rockstar. Just did the brakes on my Tiguan and also installed a new turbo charger a while ago. Runs like a Swiss watch. I started going to SMI after a bad experience at a dealership and I have never been disappointed with their service. Ive been a customer for over a decade and have used SMI to service a Saab, Range Rover, Audi, and Volkswagen. They also put a new clutch in my Mazda Miata. Great work every time. They truly are the best.

After completing all the recommended repairs and spending over $3,800, a new issue happened on my final repair...adjacent to where the last repairs were done and arguably the result of the car being on the rack. Even though the new issue hadn’t been reported or heard by the mechanics after multiple test drives - as soon as I picked up the car I heard it. I returned and the mechanic confirmed hearing it ... the company refused to repair at their cost and pointed to the age of my car. 12 years old with 96,000 miles. In short - the story changes but the result is the same.He didn’t feel the car was too old when he recommended and made the repairs. He didn’t mind upping the cost of a repair $100 from what was quoted. He didn’t have a problem saying my car needed an alignment, that he said in writing he would repair to manufacturing specs, then said “it still isn’t quite right” after making the repairs and charging me full price plus the $100.He did offer to repair the issue that arose during my last visit at a discount of $250 as a good will gesture. The company now feels it is a normal wear issue (initially they said it’s rare and shouldn’t happen this early) and that they didn’t damage anything.I’ve made my decision to go elsewhere. This info is to allow you to decide for yourself.

I had a great experience using SMI. They diagnosed the problems quickly and maximized my repair dollars by fixing additional issues during the main repair. I own a Subaru Outback they have replaced the water pump and also the clutch. Very professional and the car detailing was a nice touch. I have found my repair shop with SMI.

I gave them four stars. They did honor there warranty on an alternator I had them put on. If the alternator goes out again I will buy the one at auto zone that is not remanufactured. Have Ken Towery put it in. The one at auto zone is not remanufactured and has a lifetime warranty.

Fantastic service here, as has been the case for decades. Tracked down a hard to find Toyota Prius battery overnight at a great price, as well as one tire to match the other three on my car. Oil change and tire and battery installation took just a few hours. As this is the time of COVID-19, I also appreciated that everything was done 100% without contact. SMI has my highest recommendation!

Safety due to COVID was their first concern as it was mine. Everything was thoroughly explained on the process of when to bring my car in. The service rep called and explained what the problem was and what was done to correct it. The service was done in a very timely manner.

I stopped by one day around lunchtime because my battery had died. My car could not start without a jump 100% of the time. They were able to put in a good battery and have me on the road in less than hour. While I waited, I sat and relaxed in their nice waiting room. I grabbed a bottle of water and sat in one of the plush chairs. Before I knew it, I was out of there. Very good service.

Easy and safe drop off for car service

I have a Range Rover Autobiography Black under CARMAX warranty and this is the only place that could not do warranty work. I only took it here because a friend recommended I do!This shop was charging double the labor times it normally takes to complete the multiple jobs needed. The warranty company said your shop is charging double even triple the time it actually requires for the job. They were charging wayyy more than the dealer. Therefore, I had my car taken to Land Rover dealer and they completed $10,000 of work and all I paid was my deductible of $50.I expected a small shack like this would be cheaper than the dealer you know, but I guess not. The dealer has way more overhead, more employees, food/ water, brand new building, and they put me in a 2020 Range Rover Velar while my car was being worked on. Not sure how this place stays in business charging more than the dealer.

I just purchased a 1986 MB 560SL that was nice yet I wanted to put it in tip top condition. Bill Driver, and the entire staff went over the care with me as I pointed out every small detail I wanted to review, and bring up to full MB standards. Our request for service was made on Friday afternoon and we delivered our car on Sunday evening via the Key Drop. Monday mid morning brought a call from the Service Rep with a price and completion date. Our car was ready Tuesday afternoon. The work was most satisfactory.

I was there for oil change in my Mini Copper S and was literary in and out in 45 minutes. The shop is very professional yet approachable and friendly at the same time; several characteristic you will seldom find in a single shop. Oil change in Mini (or any other imports) is not cheap, but SMI had the best price out of several shops I’ve called. They also rotated my tires and changed the bulb sensor they found it was out, free of charge. At the end, there was no hidden or unexpected cost. The bill was exactly as promised. So far I have nothing but positive. Highly recommend. Will definitely return again.

Everything was handled very professionally. Only issue I had was there was no contact with the people due to the virus. I think they could loosen up a bit. Other shops are not like that.

I have to say that the work I have paid them to do have always been wonderful. The only reason Im not giving more stars is because someone broke off a good sized piece of my wood trim that is directly in front of the passenger side, not the door. No one told me they broke the wood trim when I picked it up, it looks ugly and is just another added cost to me when I decide to fix it. Other than that the service is great.

My Mercedes came out worse than when it went in. Over charged!!! They would rather work on bmws. I will never take my Mercedes there again. Lesson learned the hard way.

I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee to SMI to have them diagnose a clicking sound coming from the engine. Phil called me later that morning and said that he thought it sounded like it was coming from under the valve cover and based on mileage and year of the vehicle, it may still be covered under the drive train warranty and suggested I contact the dealership before going any further and incurring expense that may be a covered repair. I contacted the dealership and they said the vehicle was still under warranty and if it were an engine related problem, it may be covered. I took the vehicle into the dealership and they did confirm it was engine related and would be covered. I now have the vehicle back and incurred no out of pocket expense thanks to SMI and their honest service department and technicians. They certainly could have made the repairs and charged me for this, but instead pointed me to the possible warranty. I love this place and would never take our vehicles anywhere else. They have provided great service every time we’ve been in to see them and are extremely honest!!
