This cafe is one of the most hip ones along Figueroa. Pretty good coffee and quick service. There’s a couple benches outside that you can use to hang around and enjoy your drinks.

This spot is genuinely the best café at any point to have. There are a ton of pleasant individuals working there, making them top and all around developed. The espresso is fine, the inside stylistic theme is magnificent, and the food is brilliant. Its an ideal spot to investigate, finish some work or talk with companions. Civil Coffee is a unique coffee shop; a very calm environment with simple but delicious coffee. I usually order coffee here for my dad and he loves it. He has been a loyal customer for about 2 years or more. He usually orders the Figueroa accompanied with the Salmon Toast. Today I ordered the same thing for him, and he was very disappointed. The salmon toast was great, but his coffee was not. He had ordered his coffee hot and instead he received it room temperature; close to cold. It wasn’t because he arrived late to pick up the order. He mentioned that he saw the barista prepare his coffee right in front of him. Civil Coffee is great, but please work on this issue, since it is not the first time it happens to him.

They do have quality control the entire process of their store, with their beans being prepared and roasted in their coffee roastery. They also make a large selection of quality teas and lemonades using their own syrups. When the coffee was served to our table, we do really expect a good taste of it and were very happy that the taste was more than what we expected. Something for everybody here!

The hot chocolate was a little warm with no chocolate flavor -- the milk was almost white. My cappuccino resembled a two-shot espresso with a little bit of milk mixed in.I should have known that very little effort went into the drinks by how rapidly they were made.We wont be back.Ive had bad luck with the coffee joints on Figueroa in Highland Park. Coffee on York is a better bet if youre already in the neighborhood.

The prices are reasonable and I can see why the place was packed except for one table that we luckily scored after ordering. Loose the tude! While the coffee was tasty, and we enjoyed the sunny outdoor patio, the cashier with whom I interacted was rude, despite my being polite when asking questions regarding the parking situation outside. My spouse had recently undergone surgery (and it was his first time out, so it was important to park close-by, and I inquired about parking outside, trying to understand the confusing signs put up for the Coronavirus. I had given a hefty tip earlier, so I am even more perplexed with the passive-aggressive attitude.

I have a problem the other reviewers dont have. I am old (80). When I go out for a nice, Sunday breakfast or brunch. I want to be served - at my table. I do not want to order at the counter, However, I understand why they do it - so one can see their delicious pasties, muffins and scones. They look great but I do not want/need the calories. I ordered the los angles style eggs benedict. Delicious, as was the decaf coffee. But did the gentleman have to come by and scoop up my tray as I was eating or come by just as I was finishing take away my plate.
