My girls and I love to get boba tea at Motto! Everyone is always friendly, its not too busy, and there is nice inside and outside seating. The boba is delicious and those fluffy pancakes look amazing! I think well get those on a special occasion : )
βI wont eat in a restaurant with filthy bathrooms. This isnt a hard call. They let you see the bathrooms. If the restaurant cant be bothered to replace the puck in the urinal or keep the toilets and floors clean, then just imagine what their refrigeration and work spaces look like.β -Anthony BourdainI want to like this place: ample parking, nice layout, friendly service, and great coffee (Kyoto ftw). All that said, the bathrooms are gross. Ive been here three times and every time theyre disgusting. The final straw was when I saw someone laid a deuce in the toilet and it was clear no one had been in to clean up. Its cool. I can get my coffee somewhere else.
Laid back vibe, solid food. Outdoor seating.
I havent been inside due to COVID, but they have a pretty good takeout operation going on. They have a good amount of interesting food and a whole host of different cold brews, teas, and coffees to try. They currently have a patio set up out front but consider making the trip across the street to the LA State Historic Park to enjoy your purchase.
A tremendous relief from my side to come to this lovely spot. Your excellent and affordable service has been strongly suggested! For anything, thank you. Superior service for a coffee shop indeed! Alex was one of their workers who answered my inquiries. Due to his welcoming and flawless attitude, I was able to relax. The best!
Nice place, with good and friendly service. The coffee was just average, and food portion is rather small and a little expensive. The building theyre in wasnt that great or anything but theyre close to downtown, maybe thats why their rent is expensive, thus their pricey items on the menu. Ample of parking in front of the building, but the entrance is one way. You cant go around the building and exit the other way.
The food and drinks here are SO GOOD!!! The staff are very friendly and efficient. Great place for meetings
This is one of the citys most excellent coffee stores. They have the most comfortable and cute sofas that any other coffee shop has ever had. We still kept our meetings with our bosses here, because they also had the most elegant and trendy atmosphere, apart from the best tasting coffee and yummiest croissant. Ill be back again and next time, Ill get their muffin.
For a good coffee, this is a great place. We loved everything about this place! The coffee was excellent, and the pastries were fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the water they carried with our order, as well. They sure know their work, and they know what they are serving. The workers are really polite and supportive.
Chimney C.H. is a small specialty coffee shop in Chinatown on N. Main and Llewellyn street. They opened back in 2010, on a small plaza, to serve the community with good coffee, breakfast/lunch food and pastries. Interior atmosphere was relaxing and inviting. Its inside has a spacious loft type of design with high ceiling, plenty of natural light, exposed brick wall, large vents, bose speakers and art wall paintings. Moreover, they have a small outdoor front patio for those who want fresh LA air. I came here early Friday morning before going to work and I ordered their brewed coffee and three stack pancakes. I liked their perfectly brewed coffee. Pancakes (with chopped pecan, butter cream and raspberry syrup) were really fluffy, soft and flavorful. However, they over did the rasberry syrup. Staff was nice, competent and professionl. Service was mildly fast. Prices were fair and within the market value. They offer delivery service. Free WiFi at slow speed mbps. Wish they upgrade the speed. Ample of parking in the plaza. Overall its good place to hangout and drink coffee.
Got there early and just went there because I was in the area and looked up breakfast. Ordered the B.A.E. sandwich with breakfast potatoes and it was not good. I finished the sandwich because I was hungry but the potatoes were over done and had no taste. The bacon on the sandwich was over done and tasted like the fake stuff for salads. Barely any flavor other than the egg which was okay. The cold brew was bitter. The cashier and other lady were friendly and place was clean and nice.
This place keeps getting better and better. It started as the only nice place in the are to get a cup of coffee. Now, they have blossomed into a destination hub for creatives and working professionals. Not only do they serve amazing coffees, they specialize in full-leaf tea brewing AND they have an amazing menu for food.I love their scones - any of them. The matcha, blueberry lemon, and earl grey are my top 3. Ask for the scones to get heated for extra yumminess.Lots of space inside and outside to set up a working laptop or to read a book. Bright interiors are great for clear thinking. Gender neutral bathrooms and plenty of free parking out front.
Decent coffee, matcha scone was tasty, internet 0 problems. Gotta say the bathroom was a little wacked out. Yall know.
Still waiting for my simple coffee...15 minutes after ordering.. Watching others order after me and get their coffee. I didnt realize this was rocket science....
Excellent coffee. Lovely feeling lying by the window watching cars drive by. The employees are lovely and I would highly suggest a visit to anyone in the city.
Wow! What a great-find! This place seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but seriously, itβs hopping! And I can see why!Their food choices on the menu were very unique and I like that some has Thai-touch to it like the Larb Burger. Itβs quiet relaxing and laid back, not super crowded or not too fancy. It feels comfortable and laid back enough to just work on your stuff or to hang out with people.Their mocha was well-balanced and delicious, and their pastries were exceptional!! Their guava croissant was so good and never seen in else where! Their other pastries looked enticing such as brownie croissant and matcha scone.I got a grilled cheese with tomato soup. Tomato soup was on-point, the grilled cheese was overly greasy. But the sourdough bread was so good. The chicken burger was so good and juicy!Their service was good, especially the gentleman was uber kind. It was fairly clean and I enjoyed my visits here.Iβm going back to try their larb burger and the pastries!
Absolutely delicious breakfast. Coffee is great. Cute little hidden spot. Except the cashier (girl with hat and glasses, short hair) forgot my coffee even after she asked if Iβd like anything to drink and I replied yes, a regular brewed coffee. Had to come to her after I got my food to ask about my coffee to which she replied she didnβt hear me order it. OK.
Highly recommended! The coffee and foods from this coffee shop were quite delicious and satisfying. Besides, the ambience was clean, comfortable, and smell great. Even the waiter that served my order at that time are very friendly and nice. Eventually, I had a great experience as I visited your shop.
The best coffee is served at this coffee shop, and the desserts are to die for! I love those flavors, and the food was perfect. If youre having breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it doesnt matter and you will enjoy it! The portions are big, and the whole thing is still very new. With college kids working in study groups and visitors dropping in for a bite, the place has a cool feel.
The hole in the wall on the other side. What a great place and a true gem.
It looks like a typical college town place for coffee and munchies very laid back and comfortable. Turns out that the coffee is excellent, they roast it themselves and have been doing so for ten years. We will definitely come back and recommend the coffee shop to others!
The coffee and food were both tasteful and inexpensive. The place is very nice, the atmosphere is very pleasant. The staff are very polite and have helped me with my every inquiry. Also, the wi-fi connections are really strong. Greatly recommended!
The food and coffee and are delicious. Got the B.a.e sand which, cookie, and the Bangkok iced coffee. All items were great. However, they did forget to give me my coffee until I reminded them about it, as well as the pastries I had ordered. Not a huge deal, but at least 4 people who had ordered after me got their coffee before I did. So Iβll knock a star off for that. But If youβre into the industrial-looking coffee shop, then this is the place for you.
Stopped by here for a quick breakfast when our favorite nearby spot, Nicks Cafe, was too crowded. My fiancee and I got an OJ which was very fresh, and a Thai iced tea which was also good. We both also ordered the breakfast burrito, and were disappointed with it. They put fries in it, which sounds awesome but the execution leaves a lot to be desired--the fries werent crisp when added to the burrito so they just kinda turned to mush. Too much avocado in the burrito in my opinion as well, adding to the mushiness. Overall kind of one-note and texturally unappealing. I would come back and try something else here but I cant recommend the burrito, for sure.
This coffee shop really has the best coffee thats best for me! Every time I come around here, the staffs are very polite and even greeted me enthusiastically. The coffee was really good, and thanks to this barista, who does it very well. It was a good place to hang out with friends and family. Good job!
The coffees and foods here are very well worth the money. You cant go wrong with this coffee shop. Everything about this place is perfect and awe-inspiring.
Certainly a top place in the area. The staff was very helpful and observant. It has a cool interior. Food is similar to a place in San Francisco I loved.
Great environment, coffee is coffee and the food options are spectacular! However limited power plugs and it does get crowded. The biggest issue I have is the internet has seemed to be getting worse, horrible latency and the speeds fluctuate. If they fix the internet this place would be my #1 place to work remote in Downtown LA
I got their Rose Tea Latte and it was sweet without overpowering the rose taste. Beautifully blended. They have a good amount of outdoor seating too! Very sweet employees.
Tried only three pancake stack and brewed coffee. Pancakes (3) served with chopped pecans, fruit, and whipped cream were superb. The Ethiopian coffee, which they roast in-house, was very good. My son has one of their breakfast sandwiches and loved it. His cappuccino was also very good. Overall, a delicious experience. Ambience: mostly concrete, high ceiling, no-frills atmosphere, industrial, kind of funky. Service was good with helpful advice. Prices might be a dollar or two lower but probably are consistent with the marketplace. Out of the way neighborhood. Beats Starbucks by a mile. Almost 5 stars. At the very least, worth checking out and, Id guess, youll like it.
Long wait for their breakfast sandwich. took 20 minutes and the store was empty. never going back
I was overwhelmed with all of my school projects because college life wasnt easy, so I went to a well-known coffee shop to relax. Ill come back to see you again and again!
The Bangkok is my favorite, the right amount of flavors. Cheers yall! Im already hooked!
I wish places would stop penalizing people who want milk substitutes. Oat milk is not .85 more than dairy.
This coffee shop has some of the best coffee that you could love, no doubt about it for it has a perfect taste. The location is great, so you wonβt be too far away from a freshly brewed coffee.
Food? If theyre rocking the larb burger, GET IT - and ask them to top it with a fried egg.Drinks? Love their coffee, especially the Thai iced tea latte.Glad theyre still open (and safely so) during this pandemic! Support your local businesses, especially the yummy ones.
Really good food the plates are huge and delicious
Looks nice and their green tea latte tastes nice. The service is also nice. Its a nice place to look at the nice shadows on a nice sunny day. The walls are nicely colored with nice art that you can stare at if you are distracted which is nice. There are plugs near the walls and the tables are the right height to study or read or eat or work. The parking is not so nice but the cafe is so its worth it. I love working here. Its just so nice.
Friendly staff offering really good service and coffee. I would highly recommend this place.
Awesome customer service & nice location! The citrus olive oil muffin (I think thats the name) was good & moist... tastes like a lemon muffin
Wanted to give this company a chance because they were a small local business but big mistake... the staff has two speeds slow and slower... you get attitude from everyone there... and for the price nothing tasted good... hate to say it but youβll get better value, quality and consistency from other chain coffee shops out there... a truly disappointing experience
Consistently great coffee and very relaxed environment. Thankyou so much!!
Best coffee in Los Angeles! Always go for the Ethiopian cold brew if you prefer stronger tasting coffee. Portions are small but I only blame other American coffee establishments for spoiling me to bigger sizes. Nonetheless, this place is definitely a gem for coffee lovers. No frappes, but freshly brewed and roasted coffee right before your eyes. The place is a cool hipster hangout spot, but parking is a major headache. Consider yourself lucky if you can find a spot near the business.
Used to love this place for its unique eats and brick toast, but they changed their menu recently to a more tame classic coffee shop.Coffee selection and pastry treats are still great as always, new food is good too! But saddened that my favorite items I traveled out here for are gone :(
This was the only close eating place around this neighborhood. I ordered the avocado toast, pretty tasty. The best deal was the huge amount of fries for the cost. The girls I ate with split some of the fries. I believe it was $4 for such a huge portion!Super cute place.
Delicious coffee
Solid breakfast burrito & vanilla latte
Great food great service!
Very tasty. looking forward to returning with my coworkers.
Good coffee, great menu. Parking is easy, but thereβs angled parking and only one way in and out which makes leaving a little awkward, but it beats trying to find parking in the arts district on the weekend. Their breakfast burrito is really good.
Love this place. Delicious coffee. Yummy food.
This Little Gym over what is called Frogtown with plenty of new apartments going up in the area is in a funny little mall that is mostly for wholesale restaurants but the coffee is awesome and theyre interesting dishes even to the breakfast sandwiches are nice for a change so if you could get away from the drive-thru window come and see chimney they give you a special breakfast and they are taking orders at a window and everything is packaged for you perfect to get home I enjoy them vegan muffins delicious
Great breakfast
Outstanding coffee house. Whether youre grabbing breakfast sandwiches or midday burgers, the food is thoughtfully designed and meticulously made. Its an off-the-beaten-path laptop hangout thats a win-win for escaping the more trendy coffee spots. Whether for a meet up, to get some work done, or a lunch break without the regular crowd strolling in, this is your new favorite spot.
The food is okay. A bit sweet. American with a slight Chinese twist? Service is nice and roomy with lots of tables.
Great little coffee shop in Chinatown right next to LA historic park. I think its Thai owned, theres a few Thai inspired items on the menu. Try the Bangkok iced coffee.
I ordered a chia latte and thought it was delicious. They have a deconstructed latte that they are known for. They have great coffee options and baked goods.Im not much of a coffee drinker but I brought two of my German Ethiopian friends who consume coffee in a regular basis and they were very pleased.
Nice cafe with good pastries. Inside is more spacious than you would think but itβs usually crowded on weekends. Outside tables unfortunately overlook an ugly parking lot... but not really their fault.
I recently discovered Chimney Coffee House while on my way to work downtown. Wow... this coffee shop is exactly what Ive been looking for. Originally from Seattle, Ive lived off coffee shops like this my whole life and have been trying to find a little gem in LA. This is it! Great coffee, food, and music. The environment is a little cold since the space is brick with concrete floors and metal chairs but its got a cool industrial vibe.
Spacious coffee shop with fair prices. I like how the tables are spaced out enough to feel comfortable. Most coffee establishments have tables too close to each other. The prices for coffee are reasonable.
This place is awesome. As soon as you walk in, youre greeted with friendly welcomes, and the people whove already ordered are friendly ad well! The environment is clean and has such a great vibe. This place is relaxing and great music selection ad you wait on your order. And of course, the food is exceptional!!! I ordered the pancake platter, you have to get this!!! Bring your computer, friends, books, or just your dre beats and vibe out. I love this place. Way better then the competition!
The coffee was phenomenal and was surprisingly very good. What I look for in a cafe is always the customer service and they are really friendly.
Amazingly great coffee. Its conveniently located next to the enormous Thai market. Excelling selection of baked goods also.
They make a great iced latte (always get an extra shot)! And Iβm from Melbourne, Australia. Service was also really good too.
The food is great (love the BAE Sandwich), service is always friendly and courteous, and the morning music is always fantastic. Of course theres coffee and, for those looking for an extra kick, they have Asian coffee that is strong and can be sweet. Its a bit outside of where the in-crowd normally congregate but the free parking, easy access, and obscure location make it worth a visit. Good tables for working, great wifi access, and the noise level is conducive for conversations and focused work.
This place is right by the Asian Costco LAX-C! So we went here cause we read about their GREEN TEA BRICK TOAST, and it didnt even disappoint! The green tea flavor was prevalent throughout the toast and the ice cream. Right when we got our dish, my girlfriend noticed a strand of hair and asked them to replace it and they did it without any complaints. We also got the thai tea latte, and that was really delicious! This place has its own little parking area, so parking should not be a problem unless it was really packed.
This place is not stylish like google maps says. Its the generic austere decor of a business that tries to be hip. They need to do better if they want to attract more economic vitality to our neighborhood.
I often meet people here to talk. The staff was very friendly and kind. The place has a nice atmosphere. Ambience is similar to Fresnos scene.
Great food! Loved the coffee. Staff didnt seem to want to be there though. No greeting when we came in. My friend (her first time) and I felt like inconveniences. The price wouldnt seem so high if the staff made us feel more welcomed. We visited on Sat, Oct 21 around 1 pm.Update: service was definitely better this last time. Will be back
If you love coffee from Starbucks and cant find one, come to this place near downtown Los Angeles - just a cup of coffer, your eyes will open no less than 4 hours.
Chimney is absolutely great. The espresso and good are all too notch. Brownie croissants are exquisite. Parking is free and easy. Always a delight.
Best pancakes ever
Filled me up in no time.
Ordered a iced chai tea latte. Waited close to 20 min and has to ask what had happened to my drink. The dude that took my order kept looking at me as he made other drink orders, seriously?!? So the give me the chai tea latte and honestly it was bad. Kinda tasted like cinnamon mixed with a bit of milk and water. Staff is pretty rude and prices are high. Not my first visit but it is my last.
What a great little hidden gem in the LAX Asian market downtown near to union station..Great food..The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup will knock your socks off... and la petite omelet is great for a lighter breakfastThat and great cold or hot brew coffee...
Great food with good portions.
Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. The staff was friendly and sociable. If it wasnt far from my work I would come by more.
I love their coffee and other drinks. My husband loves the matcha scones. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have had a couple of breakfast items off the menu and they were very fresh and well made.
