Sweet baby balls of fire. Most delicious ice-cream ever! A definitely amazing place to stop for a frozen treat. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. I love how they let you try the flavors. Big portions. Recommend the flowing lava and passion fruit. I also saw lots of fresh ingredients in the kitchen. Support them at all costs!

This is the best ice cream I have had in Hawaii. Vegan- made from coconut milk. Everything they use is fresh and local. I told Peter it was my first time and he was very nice and gave my family of four a sample of every single flavor. Highly recommend!

Not only is the “nice cream” delicious, the owner was gracious enough to give my wife and I a quick tour and some taste tests when the Hilo store wasn’t even open. We were very impressed by his aloha spirit and will spread the word to all our friends. The Backyard Lemon is my wife’s favorite and I liked the Massive Mint Chocolate Crunch. I was a big believer that great ice cream had to come from cows. Guess I’ll have to amend my convictions!

This place is absolutely amazing! The people are so friendly and let us try every flavor. Each one was delicious! They showed us how they made it. So impressed that it’s all from natural ingredients that are locally grown! My husband and I are not vegan so we didn’t know what it would taste like, but they got us sold on it! The backyard lemon is so good and their lichee flavor is fantastic!

This place has incredible, vegan ice cream made from coconut milk. I had chili mango whose flavor exploded in my mouth. Portions are very generous. Prices fair. Better than any chain ice cream store.

Hands down the best dairy free ice cream I have very had. Had I not known it was dairy free going in I never wouldve guessed. The flavors are bright and intense, and the ice cream is so smooth and creamy. I wish I could get this back home, but so glad I found this place before I left Hawaii!

This is a great place! I dont usually eat ice cream. The very helpful man at the counter has us try all the flavors. Vegan ice cream is not always as flavorful and creative as at Hawaii Licks. I ended up eating a lot of ice cream and will go back. Everyone in the group loved theirs too. You just have to go here if you are anywhere near Hilo.

Great ice cream with real flavour. We tried all of the flavours available, and ended up getting the lilikoi and apple banana. The banana flavour was probably the best banana ice cream Ive ever had! Make sure to stop by and check out this great shop. Its all vegan too, and the service is great!

Hands down the BEST ice cream I have ever had, anywhere, vegan or otherwise. All their flavors that I thought I knew, like chocolate and coffee, i was totally surprised by because they were 100% more delicious and full of actual, real flavor than anything I was expecting. AND, despite the coconut base, you dont get overwhelmed by that flavor, which was another nice surprise. Thank you Hawaiian Licks for totally raising the bar! Ive already been recomming you to everyone and will continue to do so!

Wanted some ice cream and chose this one because the name was funny. Turned out to be a great choice! The desert was great. I had backyard lemon and sour sop. I highly recommend it.

Literally the best ice cream Ive ever had, beats our hometown famous Dewars two hands down. EVERY flavor is good, I dont like mint chocolate chip, but I would get two scoops of this if it were the only flavor they made. On top of all that, the service has spirit of aloha and the prices are really good. Still not convinced? Its vegan, but you wouldnt guess. Seriously people, GO HERE! It would be 6 stars if I could.

We were very warmly greeted and they offered us samples of every flavor in the house, all very delicious. The Kau Coffee was my favorite. They have many toys for young children, special seating for toddlers and our 4 year old loved it. We highly recommend it, good people and GREAT flavors!

This is some seriously delicious stuff. Made with a coconut base, mainly tropical fruit flavors are available - they were all exceptional. The friendly owners are actively experimenting with flavors, and offered samples of each. I went with mango and lemon, and would go back for another if only they were open for a longer time frame than just 11-4:30.

Awesome coconut-based ice cream with great flavors that actually taste like their named because they are made with real fruit, etc. Soursop is my favorite for those times when I dont want the caffeine buzz from the coffee version made using espresso pulled from Kau beans. Take the time to find this place in Hilo - its worth it. Its on the mauka side of Kinoole. If you pass McD, youve gone too far. Just find a parking space mauka of the purple building and walk to find Hawaiian Licks.
