This is Hawaiis only remaining classic soda / malt shop in the State of Hawaii. A hidden gem where you can get delicious sundaes, malt shakes and classic old school sodas. They also specialize in paletas or frozen fruit bars made in-house from fresh fruit. The staff are super friendly.

LOVE the super yummy tropical fruit “paleta” popsicles! It’s such a perfect experience to park, pick up popsicles, and eat them while walking under the shade of the HUGE banyan & monkey paw trees at the neighboring park. The woman who works here is the sweetest, and taught us about all their unique flavor combos of tropical fruits. Our favorites were the guava cream, lilikoi cream & non-dairy li hung mui - all very reasonably priced too!

This place had great service, and a surprisingly clean bathroom, as well as great malt shakes, popsicles a 1940 style soda fountain and stoves from ELSC. Would come again.

You can all pick up fantastic fresh, frozen fruit bars as well as an authentic classic soda/malt/float made with fully restored and original machines you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the world. Also very reasonable priced! Not heavy tourist markup.So if you are taking a walk down Banyan? Stop on by! Grab a soda and fruit bar, read up on some of the history and other buildings the owner is working with to preserve, then can take a stroll in the historic Japanese garden. A great way to relax and enjoy Hilo without spending lots of money.

We randomly found this place after taking a stroll around the coast/park. Saw the sign that said some thing like 200 steps to ice cream, so we counted and arrived at Alii Ice Co.Both ice cream have really deep flavor and rich. Just the right amount of sweetness to it. The banana nut had a pleasant surprise crunch to it :)

The best home made fresh fruit ice cream, I have ever eaten. Incredible real Hawaiian fruits blended into delicious ice cream pops. Incredible flavors, not found anywhere else. Real deal, fresh made on site daily, from scratch. --- No Dead Corn, in ice cream here ;) real..real .real...real. Finally.!!!

You NEED to go here! The ice cream is so delicious, no matter what you get. The guys that run it are extremely nice and just great to be around. The whole ice cream shop is made to look like a 50s ice cream parlor. Very cool place.

Love this unassuming little popsicle shop that shares space with an authentic ice business with WE COOL letters on the roof. Pick your favourite flavours from the freezer chest. Great variety, vibrant taste, and great price at 1 dollar, fifty cents! We tried two each because we couldnt decide. Cute retro stools at the counter in the air-conditioned shop. Be sure to check out the flavour binder if you want to learn about the unusual fruits used in some of the popsicles.

This place is amazing!!! Jons palettas are so delicious that you cant eat just one, so make sure you have an empty stomach because youll want to try all the flavors.

Amazing place. 25+ flavors and all really creative and delicious. How can you go wrong at 1.50 each!!! Our group of 4 each had 2 and shared them all so we tried lots of flavors. Who knew red beets could be part of a delicious blend... lychee, jacoba, mango, coconut, lemongrass.... Owner is delightful. I hope this place does well and is still there when we return to the Islands again!

Found this place last year looking to get some change for tips. Wonderful place, anazing selection of flavors and the owner a really nice guy to have a chat with. This should be added to the tourist bus destinations.

AMAZING popsicles. Kind of a weird building but hey, the best places are always the hole in the wall type. The cashier recommended a lilikoi cream flavor, hands down the best popsicle Ive ever had, tart, tangy and fresh. As you can see, it was so tasty i couldnt even get a picture in first.
