Had an apt at Helen DeVos, pulled in to park and got out and my daughter said mom there is water coming from the van. It was from the side and steaming, I said well its not my radiator, but its my fluid all over the parking lot. I googled places and I got Russ. He was so nice when I came in I had no fluid and low on oil also. He checked my van found what was wrong and in a couple hours had my daughter and I back on the road back home to Howard City. Great price, very nice did not lie or try to take advantage. I will use him again. Go see Russ, he is great. And I had to message him a while after this to ask what kind of fluid I needed to buy not to gunk up my system and mix fluids and he got back to me and helped me out over text. He is AWESOME. A++++++++

Russ does a fantastic job, and the way he explains what is going on, including pictures, gives a lot of confidence in his abilities. It’s obvious he has a passion for what he does. He has also very kindly taken time out of his busy day to look into a concern I had by riding in the car to identify what was wrong and explain it without charge. He recently did a ton of maintenance on my older car, and I’m very happy with his work.

Every time I have my car in to be repaired, I learn something about it, and I really like that. I also love supporting a Westside business! I give him major props because he is a small business owner and doing awesome work. When things dont go as planned (for example, some hoses needed for a repair were back ordered), he is communicative and helpful with those things, and super flexible (like letting you drop your car off overnight if you cant make it in the morning). We appreciate his work and honesty.

Russ, the owner and operator of this business is the most honest mechanic I have ever met. When you bring him your car, he goes through clearly what he will fix to your car, and will even go above and beyond and check for any other problems for free. I have taken my vehicle in 3 different times for different repairs and have nothing but excellent service. Repairs were performed and completed on the same day. Technician was very detailed about what repairs were made and advised on some issues that should be addressed, but did not pressure me into making the repairs.The place is top notch for any auto repairs backs up all his work with a garuntee. A huge thanks to Russ @ Advanced Auto Service. My wife and son were in GR visiting colleges and over 2 hrs from home when she noticed steam from the engine. She called and got an appointment right away. They put the vehicle up on a lift for diagnostics. Although no problem was found Russ and his mechanics did a complete test and inspection on the cooling system, and also wrote down several recommendations for front suspension components that were worn. A piece of mind and a very reasonable fee. Thanks

I had been taking my car for repairs to those big autorepair shops, only to return frustrated with the level of service and their dishonest means.I decided to look for a local mechanic and found Russ. The experience has been nothing short of excellent. He patiently listens to your concerns and even takes time to explain the repairs and breaks down costs. His prices are competitive, if not slightly cheaper than places I have been to.Overall, the service was exceptional and for once I left a shop, feeling satisfied.

Very displeased with the lady that answers the phone. Accused me of having very poor communication with my daughter.....seriously? Who are you again? I am in the middle of paying for you fixing my daughters car without her knowing about it and youre gonna talk to me like that? Also wouldnt remove a diagnosis charge for something that did not require more than 7 seconds of diagnosis. The repair was fair...a little over priced. The technician was fine. Good work it seems. But I will definitely not return due to her horrible phone manners and will definitely pass on the word where I can.

I am very pleased with Advanced Auto Service. I had a drivers side door that would not open. After the required parts were ordered, I was able to leave my car with the shop in the morning, walk to my downtown Grand Rapids destination for the day, and return late afternoon to a door that opened! The service was efficient and very reasonably priced.

Stranded in GR, live 2 hours away, when my alternator went out at 3:30pm, Russ got me in right away and had me back on the road and headed home. Thank you for staying late to take care of my car problems. Very much appreciated.

I cannot say enough good things about Russ. I moved here a year ago with a very old car, and its had quite a few issues, especially since I worked a job where I was driving it extensively. I had a bizarre schedule, leaving for work at about 5am and not getting home until anywhere from 1pm to 6pm, but Russ worked with me and my ridiculous schedule to get it in and out quickly. He is very honest - I am a young female who clearly knows nothing about cars, and while most mechanics would take advantage of this, Russ actually walks me through exactly what he finds, what repairs he thinks are necessary, and, unlike any mechanic Ive met, will even tell you which issues he thinks can wait/arent important rather than trying to rake in the extra money. Once, I had a flat tire and called him, and he walked me through what I needed to do, despite the fact that I needed to go to an actual tire shop and not to his shop - he was still more than willing to help me. His pricing is extremely fair and his estimates are always pretty much right on, and he never does any work without speaking with you and getting the go-ahead. He is super friendly, knowledgeable, reliable, helpful and all around a fantastic choice. I now have a new car and hopefully wont be needing to see him for a while, but I keep his card in my wallet at all times - I wouldnt go to anyone else!

My car sat there for over a month before the part even got sent out. Had my car for over 2 months I ended up taking my car elsewhere to get it fix (Ford dealership) where it cost half the price of what I was told by Russ. Will not be going back there again does not now how to keep in contact with you says he will call but never does then when you constantly call he will ignore your call.

I selfishly would prefer no one discovered how amazing this place is. However, I could not sleep well not giving Russ, the small business owner the props he deserves. He is so thorough and his prices are great, and truly goes out of his way, above and beyond. Stayed way past his reg hours to get our car back out on the road same day. Who does that?!?!!!! I found my new forever mechanic!! Please do not hog all his time ;)

I cant say enough about the great service that I received from Russ at Advanced Auto Service. I was visiting my son and daughter in law for the arrival of their new baby when my water pump went out on my car. I called first thing in the morning and Russ told me to bring it in and he would have a look at it. He not only looked at it, he repaired it the same day so that I could make my 3 hour trip home that day safely. He called for approval of the repairs with a very close estimate of time and cost. When I arrived later in the day to pick up my vehicle he explained everything to me and even showed me the badpart. I forgot to mention this was done on a Friday, had he not been so attentive I would not have found any place to repair my vehicle until Monday. Thanks again, Russ. Had issues with my car, dropped it off at AAS. They found the bad fuel pump, had it fixed and back to me the next day. Great prices, great service. I will be a repeat customer. Car is still running great 6mths later. They always have coupons available online too!
