I’ve been to a few different storage facilities that were nice, but not really anything special. But, when rented my unit from this facility, I recognized, almost immediately, that there was nothing, even remotely close to, mediocre about this location. Every step of the process has been undeniably exceptional, which included remarkably phenomenal customer service. From the ease and convenience of renting, and having immediate access to, my unit online on a Sunday during hours when the office was closed; to the incredible customer service skills of the manager, Katherine, when I spoke to her the following day about some questions and concerns I had in reference to my storage unit. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this location to anyone in need of a storage unit.

Extra Space Storage is a pristine facility which is kept in perfect condition year round. I found working with Katherine Helms, the manager, and her associate, John, very professional. Everything is well lit and secure. I couldnt have been happier with the accommodations. Unfortunately, my rent went from $56 for 1st year to $180 for the 2nd year and I just couldnt justify that for the few items I had stored. When I coordinated my move out with John, they were more than cordial throughout the streamlined process.

I needed to store my items last minute that same day and Katherine made it possible to find the unit that worked best with my needs. (Also wish to credit the woman over the phone who directed me to Katherine, didn’t catch her name. She was amazingly helpful with sizing as well.) As my first experience with a self storage company, I am definitely going to be using them whenever I need it, whether it be near or far future. Definitely would recommend to anyone. Easily accessible, super friendly staff, and overall just a great location and experience. Thank you!

Amazing customer service, great rates and if it looks a little pricey it is WORTH IT. I have been in a lot of storage places and this is the one I go to personally every time because not only is there drive up inside access but it is the cleanest self storage company around hands down. Ive been storing my motorcycle here for about 4 years now and compared to some of the other facilities I kept it at in the past, this place is top notch. It is always clean and kept at the right temps summer and winter. Also it is very secure and I never worry about any problems with theft or vandalism.Katherine, the manager, and crew have been very helpful if I needed to change my storage needs and something else was available. Highly recommended.

These guys randomly raised the price of my unit from $105/mo to $166/mo. I am not living in the area and do not have the option to come get my stuff and transfer it to an honest storage facility. I will be disputing these charges with my credit card company and reporting extra space to the bbb.

The staff at the Des Plaines location were absolutely phenomenal. Katherine was very helpful with my move out process after my year and a half there. If I ever need a storage space again I will be going back here.

So far so good. Nice newer facility in Des Plaines with drive up indoor access which is great during the winter! Exactly what I was looking for. Place seems very clean too. Manager was friendly and helped me get the right storage for my needs. It’s only been about a week with 2 trips to the unit, but nothing but good things to report so far. I would definitely recommend this place to others looking for storage space.

Confirmed a price and was promised it wouldnt be raised. It was raised 3 months later and now its over double what my original rate was. The rates will continue to increase so dont stay here for long.

ExtraSpaceStorage provides safe and secure storage for a great price. The customer service is phenomenal! I recommend this business for anyone in the area.

Being able to pull in to the facility and not go through outside doors or worry about being in the rain or weather elements is amazing. The prices are extremely reasonable in comparison to other places that arent as clean, professional or convenient. I did have to clean the floor up a bit when I moved in, but thats expected in a shared space. I believe John was the patient and professional young man who set up my lease back in May. Due to COVID-19, I was able to do everything over the phone, which since I was there to take a look at the unit first, I did in the car in the parking lot. Catherine was very kind and helpful over the phone when I called to close out my lease as well when I was done using it.

I have had a wonderful experience here. Katherine is always helpful and professional. Always a smile, a hello and a thank you.

I feel comfortable storing my belongings knowing that the building is clean and well maintained. The employees are nice and professional. I initially called and a very sweet and helpful lady named Suzan or Marry guided me through all my needs and set me up. Once I arrived at the office, Katherine Helms provided me with exceptional customer service. If I ever needed to store my belongings again, this will be the place for me moving forward.

Management is phenomenal, they always bring packages to my unit in a timely fashion and are incredibly helpful with any questions I have!

I wouldnt recommend renting storage here. The manager Jennifer was kinda mean and confronted me about some things in front of my son making me look stupid. I rented a unit upstairs for my business and found it to be so hot it was hard to breath. I asked corporate and the staff many times to turn the AC up and said they couldnt help me. I plugged in a fan few doors down from the unit so I could work on my business and my son could work on his home school and was talked down to like I was the bad guy here. I just wanted to make product in my unit in peace without bothering anyoneOr myself. Instead I was accused of things and talked down to for what? I felt threatened and moved out and moved to SAFEGUARD SELF STORAGE right next door and I highly recommend all of you seeing this to check them out first they are awesome! Its not how nice the unit looks, its how you they treat you to help make your experience worth paying for. I will never give extra strange space my money again. Heres an image of they climate controlled temperature downstairs, imagine how hot it was upstairs where you would spend a few hours in.

I rented several years. Rent was paid on time every month without fail. My rent went up on a regular basis. At the end I was paying $108 for a 5x10. Sometimes the bathrooms were open; sometimes not. I had to go down the street to Culvers to use the restroom. Not once did corporate ever acknowledge my being a great customer by giving me a thank you gift or some little bonus. I had an investment via REIT in this company, but I sold it now. A new storage opened on River in Des Plaines. Hope they are smarter.

This location is always clean. I have multiple units and Katherine was kind and courteous. She helped to find additional deals and make renting easy.

This place sets the standard for customer service, I was absolutely delighted.Polite, informative, thorough, yet quick. The whole process, took about 10 minutes. I was able to tour the facility and see my unit before committing to it. I purchased my lock, in house, but they allow you to bring your own. I even walked out with three rolls of packing tape because it was such a great deal and even better convenience.Jacob was very professional and knowledgeable. We will definitely use them again, if the need arises.
