One star is honestly far too generous. We got a phone call from customer service relaying that our reservation was unfortunately not honored— 45 minutes AFTER showing up to be told no trucks were available. A little late for that. After persuasive efforts, we were finally offered another reservation at a different location in an hour. As I write this, it is past 2pm. We have been in line since 10:30am at this second location and likely have two more hours to go. We’ve been told there is no manager and that “it’s just the first of the month.” Interesting how this rolls around every 30 days?Likely people moving are transitioning— meaning they have no place to lay their head until the move is complete. How is this ethical?This disaster could be completely avoided if U-Haul weren’t actively over-booking in hopes of making the largest profit possible, and knowing full well that people have no choice. I feel terribly for the employees here who are completely unsupported, chained to a system that forces them to take advantage of vulnerable people during a pivotal and often extremely stress-inducing life event. I guarantee this room (and the line out the door) of tired and angry people won’t be booking a U-Haul again anytime soon.
I highly recommend this u haul at this location! Great phenomenal service! More specific with Michelle! She was fantastic! Very helpful, informative and super professional! I couldn’t have asked for a better person to help me out with my truck rental! If I could give this place a better score I would and it’s all because if Michelle! I will be returning here for all my moving needs and I would encourage anyone to to do the same! Standing in line for 35 mins and havent moved one inch. The lack of employees (knowing this is the busiest weekend for moving) is unacceptable. There is no way it takes this long to help one person for this line to not move. One employee came out and said reservations only. So what would be the hold up? Very poor planning on management side. Do not recommend this facility for anything. Customers are walking out saying they have been inside the store for over 3 hrs. With a reservation. Why?
Very clean and well lit ! The staff was amazing, very friendly! They had everything I needed for my move . From boxes and this really cool tape that had the names of the rooms on it which to me and my wife was awesome!!!! Because we rented a truck they gave us a month of storage free which helped alot while we where settling in to our new place ! I highly suggest this place cuz it is huge !!!!!! 4 floors 2 elevators
Came here today to pickup a truck this morning, and I honestly must say that my experience today was so pleasant with everyone being so helpful with me. Especially this girl named Jackie who was taking care of us she went above, and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed prior to renting our renting truck so we can move. A+++ please make sure you make a reservation before you go in so you don’t struggle with anything.

Worst system of renting a truck that you can imagine. Be prepared to waste most of your day waiting for a truck. Oh, you have a reservation? Doesnt matter. You will be waiting in a line of 50 people with 1 counter open. Avoid uhaul at all costs.

I had a bad experience with a non working elevator which is the closest to my storage unit, I notified management and to at least post a sign of the non working elevator. There was no sign posted nor directions to an alternate elevator. On today’s date I arrive with the same issue, non working elevator and no signs posted of the non working elevator.
This place is a well oiled machine and easy to do business with.
I justuse that company and very strongly I recommend that, solit, cheap and a lot of savings

We rented a U-haul truck here at the end of August. Customer Service was great. They helped us. We have had a storage place here for years. The staff are AMAZING.
Unbelievably friendly and helpful staff!! Ive seen them jump in and help people when they didnt even know they were around the corner. This is when the cleanest facilitiesI have ever seen I have watched him scrub units moving using a floor machine. Everybody here is super nice and super friendly!!! This is my number one pick in for storage in Chicago! Adore them!!

The only thing that was convenient about this location was the fact that I didnt have to interact with a customer service representative while using the U-Haul mobile service for pick-up. After dropping off my truck, I was double charged for both time and equipment when the contract showed up. Because they are severely understaffed, it took me 45 mins on hold before I decided to just drive there. Waited in line for 30 mins and finally was told the problem couldnt be resolved, and that Id hear from a manager. Took another 4-5 days to actually have the bill amended to reflect what I originally had ordered and adhered to.The staff is nice enough, but the service is horrendous when they are understaffed to such an extent.
Great place, great staff, and GM Mrs. Green is nice, curtious and very professional. Id definitely rent a van here again. They have a huge selection of vehicles.Very busy in the summer during moving season but lot attendants get the job done.

Theyre advertisements bragging a truck for $29.95 is a LIE!!! It cost me over $200 to move a lightweight awning from Chicago to Merrillville, IN, using it for only hour & a half.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I thought it would be easier to reserve my truck/unit online, but when I tried to claim the free month rent when you rent a vehicle deal, the online portal wouldnt let me, nor would it load when I tried to pick up my truck. Then, when I went into the office for help, they claimed they had no record of my reservation. After the very end of a HALF-HOUR booking process, they realized they DID have my reservation on file which they then had to cancel. Later, they called me to tell me I forgot my access card, which they kept claiming I left on the desk. I did NOT forget my access card, THEY forgot to give it to me and never even mentioned I needed one. They are only claiming this to try and divert blame from themselves. When I went to pick up my access card, it turned out that they gave me the WRONG CARD, and I did not have access to the floor my unit was on. No one answered my calls, as it was past service hours, though they SHOULD have someone on duty for emergencies such as this. I was stranded with a van full of furniture at night in a storage facility in Chicago. If it had not been for one very kind patron who had access to my floor, I dont know what I would have done. They also claim that truck rental is 19.95, but when they add on all of their fees it came out to $100!
This is the place large with a lot of rental trucks vans or car carriers. Large amounts of storage lockers on site plus all the moving supplies you will need.
Only one person is working behind the counter. There are no posted directions on how to check out of the storage unit when you move out. The person behind the counter was not helpful.
Returned my rental 1/17/20 at exactly 11:30 am (11:00am drop off time) for a two day rental; and Elizabeth as well as Ben were terrible customer service representatives. Ben viewed my rental upon returning the truck quoted me a total of $181, but when I go inside to pay, Elizabeth reconfigured my total to include an additional day bringing my total to $230. Of course I had to pay, but the lack of communication and terrible customer service made the experience not even worth repeating. They had terrible attitudes, I pray they work on there customer service skills. Definitely dont recommend going to this U-Haul facility. Avoid Elizabeth and Ben.
A little confusing on where to park or drive/pull up, both when you’re picking up and dropping off. But otherwise the staff was great and everything was easy.

The worst service of all time. Reserved a 26 truck two weeks in advance, called the location 2 days in advance to confirm the reservation. Changed my pickup location to Des Plaines the night before without notifying me. Had to expend $30 on Uber to get to Des Plaines location only to be notified that a truck was never assigned to me. Was given a choice of using a 17 back-up truck that performed terribly. Instead of traveling 5 miles, had to travel more than 40 miles both ways.The MOST Uhaul is able to do is provide a $50 reservation waiver - after being placed on hold for over 40 minutes every time I called. Moving is stressful enough so do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere because Uhaul does not care about your experience. Absolutely atrocious customer service.
Ive been going to this location for a few years... Always a good experience.. staff very friendly and helpful.. Jackie Lopez is an amazing she Always helps in any way possible! You can definitely see she loves her job.. The GM DEFINITELY HAS A GREAT TEAM WORKING INSIDE AND OUT!

I have been a customer for over 10 years and have found the service to be excellent, especially by the manager, Joseph Alberts, who really does an exceptional job. The facility is very clean and well maintained, the temperature and humidity are consistent. There are many conveniences, such as a large loading dock/garage, large and small elevators, and much appreciated moving-carts. The security is also exceptional. They carry just about everything one might want regarding moving and storage. I recently rented a 15 truck (and at the last minute a large trailer) to move from Chicago to FL. The truck was new, drove perfectly, and made the trip far more comfortable than expected.

Reserved a U-Box through the 1200 W. Fullerton location. I didnt know Chicago well, and instead of directing me to the correct location (which was much closer to me) they started all new paperwork. End result was that my box arrived in Texas two days late and with no lock on it. When I called U-Haul Corp. to get reimbursed for the $50 late delivery guarantee I got the run-around, everyone passed the buck on whos responsible to pay me. I will not be using U-Box to ship in the future.
This uhaul is great. The employees are professional, funny and fast. Every truck Ive ever rented was clean, smelled nice and the lot girl they have now (Jenny) is so sweet and very helpful. I will deffinetly continue to come back and will always recommend to my friends and family. Thank you Uhaul team you rock.
I planned a 2-day move about 6+ weeks ahead of my move date. I called Uhaul and was told I could park overnight specifically at this 4100 Fullerton location. So I called them, they told me I could park there, just needed to come in and get a parking sticker which costs $25. Great. So the day before my move I drive 30 minutes to the store, only to be told that theyre not sure if I can park there the next night and to call back when its 24 hours notice. So I call back but CANT GET THROUGH TO THE STORE. The call center rep left a message for the store to call me but of course nobody did. What a joke of a system and awful customer service.
They charged an incorrect account to my credit card. They wouldn’t refund my $ so I ended up going negative and my bank charged me 4 6 over draft fees. Thank God I bank with chase, they accommodated me and rectified the dilemma. 🙏🏽

I very much enjoy the 24/7 access, the large units inside of the massive edifice, and the pleasant, friendly and competent team under the superior direction of a certain Joseph Albert truly make this location unique. I will definitely spread the good U-Haul word. Holla.

We have had very positive experiences at this location. My daughter reserved a truck online for the location at Kedzie and Chicago and when we arrived there they had no trucks and the counter person was sitting outside on the steps smoking a cigarette and didnt know anything about our guaranteed reservation. It was on Saturday morning so obviously a busy day for moving and we decided to try this location and not only were they able to find a truck for us, we were able to get used boxes and packing material at no extra cost, and was offered a discount on the mileage because of the mix up. Christina was extremely helpful and helped us divert a mini - crisis. Would definitely use them again!
The whole staff here is very friendly. They had my truck ready to go when I arrived and even stayed open a littler later than normal when I myself was running late to return the truck. They also had extra packing materials at better prices than I found at other stores.
Service was quick..lots of inventory, easily located & staff is friendly..But please make a video b4 you leave!! Bcuz the pictures they send to your phone showing the condition of the truck is NOT current..my video proved that fact..YEP they THOUGHT they were going to charge me for pre existing damage..

Hour long wait in line today, Saturday 4/21. One employee at the service counter trying his very best. At one point the lot attendant was at the service counter while the service counter employee was helping someone in the lot... Something not adding up there...
I walked into this place and it was so busy. There was others working, but there was a gentleman named Bradley that was assisting co workers and doing multiple tasks but was quick, professional and provided superb excellent service to me & others!!! Thank you my first time there and will return if ever needed!!!

Their bill processing needs work. If you pay on-line when bill is due, you get a warning letter and a $20 late fee. If you send a bank check, they claim they didnt get it, and again, a $20 late fee. In this case, Chase is the bank in question. Obviously, these $20 fees add up to make a profit for this location.

Return driveway not marked well for people unfamiliar with the location. They checked out my truck when I returned, and said all was good, but then I received an invoice the next day in email for fuel, stating the gas gauge was below where it actually was. I have a photo with the mileage and the fuel gauge upon return, but they tried to sneak in a LARGE refueling fee of $30 and $14 of additional gas. TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR MILEAGE AND GAS OR YOU MAY GET CHEATED!!!!!! Oh, and the phone number on my contract for this location is disconnected!!!! Nice, right????!!!!
Do not rent from this u haul the mileage was not correct in the truck. the person that gives you the truck did not check it he just signed off so when i got back i told them i didnt drive the 300 miles or so that it said i did and the person said he would fix the problem. when i got the bill in my e mail it was over 210 dollars for a pickup truck rental that i only used for 3 hours or so. they charged for an additional day as well. resolving this problem is not easy and the manager is not doing anything to help. i will now be going over there today to figure this out in person. terrible employees and management.

The manager Joe is on some sort of power trip, like his job is of the utmost importance. He is completely unprofessional and shouldn’t be in a customer service oriented business at all with his lack of service skills.To start, Uhaul reservation system screwed up my reservation and had me go back and forth between two locations due to one not having the size truck I needed. Upon getting to this location, there were 12 people in line and only one lady at the desk. Joe then came to help her out after a bit. After waiting 30 min in line, I got to the desk and gave my number to look up the reservation. I was then asked for a secondary number as it’s “mandatory” per Joe, though I rented a uhaul the day before and didn’t need to provide one. When I told him I don’t have a secondary number, he said he can’t rent to me. So, I gave him my old number and told him it was my old number. He then said if he calls it and it doesn’t work, he won’t rent to me. I tried to stop him and think of someone’s number (didn’t have my phone) I could put down, but he still called and of course it was disconnected and he literally tossed my ID at me and said I can leave.

AVOID!!! After getting the one month free promotion for renting a truck, I was not only hit with hidden fees and charges but was told to be moved out 2 days before the full month expired. My wife and I had nowhere to take our stuff since we were waiting to move into a new apartment. We called literally 15 times and never got a hold of the manager. We talked to customer service representatives and left emails and messages for the manager and never heard back. When we finally did get through after calling again, my wife was appalled at the level of disrespect and attitude this guy had towards her. Never coming back here.

Went to where Im supposed to get my truck and I was told to go to a new location. Arrived at the location and the app says my reservation doesnt exist. The app and reservation system is horrible. Theres a long line thats and the 2 employees here dont seem to have any urgency. One is cursing loudly do customers. This is horrible.

Ive had a very good experience with this location. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. I missed my first monthly payment because I was not on auto pay like I thought I was and management was kind enough to waive the late fees after more than 2 weeks of being delinquent.
I once checked out a U-Haul from the Fortress. What a magical place with ping-pong tables in the back. The U-Haul was awesome.
They over charged me and gave me false information that made me pay more. Bad business.
Uhual has the worst system ever. They book you a reservation and then when its time to pick up, you find out its a request for a reservation. Does that make sense? So you have no vehicle to pick up.Then when you finally confirm and actually schedule the truck to pick up with the agent on the phone; you go pick it up and they tell you they didnt pick a pickup location...Like really...OMG horrible!!! Just horrible...so no vehicle again.
Terrible customer service, manager never returns calls and their insurance is crap they do everything to deny damages to your property beware. To all deciding to rent storage there is a storage facility that is on North Ave. & Kolmar Ave that is less expensive than this piece of crap Uhaul. Dont believe a word the manager J.A says they will tell you anything and everything in order to get your business.

I had a reservation for a 20 foot truck, and this Uhaul gave me only one days notice that they didnt have enough 20 foot trucks, so I would have to go to another location. I had to drive 2 hours round trip to go to another part of Chicago to get my truck.
