Barry Thornton helped us pick up our trailer today. He was very welcoming and helpful. He got everything hooked up for us and showed us how to unhook it as well. He was very patient and knowledgeable. I would definitely rent from this location again. Barry is a gem. Thank you!

This was a terrible experience and a huge waste of money! When we arrived to pickup our truck in (paterson), they gave us a terrible truck which was extremely dirty, damaged, and it would not start! We stayed there for over an hour trying to explain to the man who worked there that the truck is not good. He was not cooperating with us and made the process very difficult. He finally gave us the information to head over to another location (saddle brook) and when we arrived there, they were forcing us to pay again, which we had already paid at the first location. This process had taken over 3 hours. It was ridiculous! They gave us the truck which had barely any gas in it, pretty much empty. We unloaded the truck only to see that majority of our boxes were damaged due to some kind of water leaking into the truck! Almost everything in the truck was destroyed including a fire place and a brand new tv! When we finally arrived in Illinois, we left the truck at the location we agreed on with U-Haul. As soon as we walked in, there was no one there to greet us. We waited for quite some time. When this man walked up and he didn’t even say hello, he just asked us what the name on the reservation was. We told him and he just walked away. When he came back he didn’t even give us any paperwork and told us about some extra fees which we had to pay! He definitely didn’t know what he was doing! When we asked for the manager, he said he was the only one working today! How ridiculous! I will never ever rent a truck from U Haul again and I will definitely not recommend anyone rent from here either! Almost $1000 spent on this truck rental and it was a very disappointing experience!

Such kind and attentive staff. Manager was there right at 7 am with a smile on his face. We were so stressed out with our move and kept having to extend the return time for our truck, eventually ended up turning it in late, but they were still very understanding and always easy to get in touch with, making sure we understood the process and had everything we needed from the start. Plus it’s super quick and easy to get here given it’s just off the highway. Would recommend 100%, even if you don’t live close by.PS get the mattress carrier they have with handles!!!! Makes life so much easier

Unprofessional and understaffed. The truck I rented had garbage inside when the employee opened it up. The floor was completely dirty. They did offer to mop it before i left, but i felt it unwise since it was below freezing and unsafe loading furniture with icy floors.The manager then proceeded to call me and my wife 20 times while I was trying to move my belongings. Harassing and trying to guilt trip us into returning it early for a family in need. Well, if Im not done with my move, what am I supposed to do? Avoid this place like the plague. Its not worth the hassle or the stress, when moving is stressful enough.And i will charge back any fees this guy decided to add on. This place will try to nickle and dime you even though the equipment is dirty and the trucks only have a quarter tank of gas.

Over priced for the size of storage. The employees do NOT know what they are doing at all. No access to my own things when i want, and storage isnt even climate controlled nor do they have a.c. on top of that my storage is right next to a loading dock but cant use it for no apparent reason I have to walk all the way from one side of the building to the complete opposite side makes no sense when literally the door is 2 feet from my storage.

Get ready to be charged extra. They charge for every scuff mark if you dont buy their insurance. $15 dollars for fuel gauge not being completely on indication mark. And we are talking like half a gallon less. Rent elsewhere, there are a lot more decent places.

The General manager Barry, charged my sister 600 dollars for damage that was on the vehicle prior to renting it. I was in the vehicle the entire time, no accidents. The engine light came on and towards the end of the rental the battery died. Run away from any location Barry is managing.

I felt the whole time like the manager was just trying to trick us into spending more money. Would not give me a straight answer when we asked how long we could use the truck without increasing the base rate.

By far the worst U-Haul location in Chicago. The General manager Barry, charged me over 600 dollars for damage that was already on the vehicle prior to me renting it despite having insurance. When I spoke to him, he had no remorse at all. I will be talking to the President and if necessary taking legal action.
