I called Wednesday night to inquire about purchasing a V60 Cross Country and spoke with Jeremy who informed me that the dealership was closed. He told me he would called me in the morning. I never heard from him so I called at noon on Thursday and asked to speak with him but was told he was busy. I then called again at 2:30 and he was still busy so I left a message. Its now Friday evening and I have yet to hear from him. I ended up contacting University Volvo and received excellent service.
I feel scammed, bought a used Volvo S60 from them. The car has a lot of mechanical issues. They said that the car is perfectly fine. If you are looking to buy a used car from this dealership, I really recommend taking your car to a good mechanic before purchasing a vehicle.

An automotive dealership shows its true colors when you dont buy a car, and I have to - HAVE TO - commend the folks at Volvo of Charlotte for being as friendly and helpful as can be when my husband and I were car shopping this week. John is a fantastic sales rep, put us at ease completely and did everything we asked and more. We simply decided to delay buying a new car for a few months.Because John and Volvo of Charlotte were so helpful and understanding, we are definitely returning to get that Volvo XC60 we want. I fell in love with the Volvo in 2020, but the stars didnt quite align for my purchase until yesterday!! (August 2021) the entire experience was first class, just like their cars. I never felt rushed, pressured, or even the slightest bit taken advantage of. In fact, they went above and beyond to get me an UNBELIEVABLE rate, AND picked up both me and my daughter from a separate dealership where I sold my previous car. John is top notch, and truly knows his products, as well as red carpet customer service. Id give 10 stars if I could!!!!

Second Volvo purchased here. Sales representative (Sam) has worked there 26 years and the smoothest process of EVER purchasing a car. In and out in less than an hour and the car was detailed, and our personal information was already inputted into the car so there was not much for us to do. Would definitely buy from them and would recommend to our family and friends.
One star is ONLY for the Service department. Sales is great, (work with Greg Simmons). Our review of Volvo Charlotte’s service operations is the HIGH cost! The technicians are master technicians, the work is good, they aim for total customer satisfaction, but when you look at the cost, (the service advisor says, that’s it, no warm fuzzy feeling when getting the Dollar Shaft), it’s our personal opinion. We now use University Volvo since it has a much warmer staff, and modern Tier-1 Volvo building, vs. the outdated facility at Volvo Charlotte. If we’re going to open our wallet, at least we’re in a beautiful building, have snacks, coffees and Wi-Fi. Again, it’s all about the cost and lack of confidence from the service advisor. They “broomed” us. Now we use University Volvo and a Volvo Independent in Charlotte near Uptown. Just our $.02

I made an appointment approx two months ago and stated I had to get a loaner car. The appointment confirmation indicated loaner car, I drove one hour today and was told there are no loaners. I could not leave the car, as I had no transportation. Freddie in service said that “two young ladies” manage the list and he had no idea about the list, even though he made the appointment with the list. They used the covid excuse, which is why I made the appointment two months ago to fix Volvo recalls, but it does not excuse them calling to tell me there is no loaner. I’ve had three volvos and never experienced this poor level of service that this dealership offers

I wasnt visiting Volvo to purchase a vehicle but if I were, Id definitely come here based on the kind, professional and honest treatment I recd from Mr. Baker in the service department and the cashiers. I was referred to this location to have work done on my 2000 Volvo. Mr. Baker was working with me and instead of trying to reach a quota he explained to me the cost I would be facing and the reasons I should think about it before making a decision. I appreciate Mr. Bakers honesty and his candor. It honestly wasnt what I was expecting but it was what I and all customers deserve. While we did use a specialist car purchasing service to locate the vehicle we wanted and negotiate the price, this was by far one of the best experiences I can remember when purchasing a vehicle. From walking in the door to driving off we were there less than an hour - this included a test drive, signing the paperwork, and figuring out how to use the infotainment system. Frederick Gates was our sales person, he was extremely professional, knowledgeable and like the rest of the staff did not try to push us to purchase any additional products or services.

Andrew was very friendly, respectful and informative about the issue. I have never had to undergo a major repair on a vehicle before, therefore I was shocked at the Total price of $1,100+. So needless to say I was disappointed to learn that they did not have any type of payment plans or financing in place for major repairs. But I thank God for provision! 🙌🏽Now that I have my car back, I must say that it runs great now! I want to thank the guys/gals at this Volvo Service location for their great work! I would recommend this University location.

Had a great experience at Volvo Charlotte. Saw a CPO XC60 on the website and spoke to Sam on the phone prior to seeing the car in person. Sam knew all the details about the car and answered all my questions so I knew the 90 minute drive to Charlotte would be worth my time.In person, the car was impeccably clean and seemed brand new. Sam walked us through all the features and made sure we understood how they worked. We were offered a great price on the car and a fair value for our trade in. The financing process was quick and easy. What an amazing experience! I was looking for a Volvo XC90 so this morning I found one at Volvo Charlotte online. I reached out to confirm it’s availability (due to the chip shortage inventory is low and things are moving quickly) and within 10 mins Jimmy reached out and said it was still available. We emailed back and forth, he took photos for me, he answered all my questions, and got me pre-approved online. I then started working with Sam who called me and answered some additional questions.By 6pm I was at the dealership picking up my new car. Sam had the entire program programmed for me and spent a good hour and a bit walking through everything and answering all my questions.Never had I purchased a car so quickly and virtually. I just experience possible the very best customer service of all time. A few weeks ago my car started to shake and did not feel right. I contact Volvo Charlotte for the 1st time. My dealing was strictly with the customer service representative Benjamin. I have to tell yall he has been a gem. The first day I took my vehicle in was a Saturday to only be evaluated. By the afternoon I was getting personal text with update of my vehicle. Benjamin made sure to do the oil change maintenance on my vehicle and provide all else that would be needed on the vehicle. Upon arriving to collect my vehicle Benjamin has a print out of everything and had it prioritize to ensure I took care of what was needed first on the vehicle. I left there thinking wow I realize I have to get this stuff done but since the pandemic funds have been tight. Still trying to figure out how to get these repairs done. To my surprise Monday I received a text from Benjamin saying he was able to go over my estimate quote for repairs with his manager (Amy Clark) and she agreed to 10% off every item listed on initial quote which gave me a total saving of over $700.00. Imagine my surprise I could not have been more grateful. Because of that saving I was able to take my vehicle back to have those repair completed. Benjamin was upfront with me explain how I would need to leave the vehicle for about a week since part had to be order and they would be working on the vehicle immediate upon receipt of parts. Exactly a week later my vehicle was ready for pickup - in between Benjamin continued to communicate with me on the process. This is not something that happen often especially when they are as busy as they are. This showed me I made a good choice taking my vehicle to them. As I informed Benjamin he is stuck with me for the life of my vehicle. 100% satisfied customer. YDiaz

I drove this car 2013 model when I was in China, and the drive-E engine system is more efficient, I am also considering buying a XC90 too.
Gary Shaw is the best car salesman we have ever had. We have been buying cars since 1972. That speaks volumes. Before we met Gary we dreaded any trip to a car showroom. Gary makes it simple. He is pleasant and honestly friendly. He listened to our needs and our budget. He would show us a car and the numbers. We loved the car and the numbers. It was that easy. Gary gave us what we wanted. A beautiful car and a fair price. We have driven Volvos since we bought a P-1800 in 1972. We still have that car. Gary kindly gives us guidance how to keep the car in good condition. Since we are fairly new to Charlotte we appreciated that. We usually lease our cars so we visit Gary about every two and a half to three years. I think this is the third Volvo Gary found for us. Did I mention Gary enthusiastically shares our love for old Volvos. He loves the product he sells. Seeing all the awards with Gary’s name on them in the showroom you know he is an outstanding member of your team. We do and will continue to recommend Gary to our family and friends. If youre looking for a volvo, go to University Volvo. Its like night and day between these two dealerships. I bought two Volvos from volvo of charlotte in the past and wish I had known this sooner. Of course sales guys are sales guys anywhere, BUT the atmosphere, friendliness, sales people are completely different. Even the dealership is bright and modern looking. Volvo of charlotte is dark, outdated, stuffy and unfriendly. When I bought a volvo from volvo of Charlotte, Fred the sales guy said the price is what it is, no negotiations because thats what the internet is for(?). I just bought a 2021 xc60 from University Volvo.Totally different attitude and sales approach there. Volvo of Charlotte also recently gave me the run around when requesting a refund that was due to me. I had to follow up three times to finally have them send it. Its worth the drive for me to go the other side of town for a much better buying experience in the future.

Ended up at Volvo of Charlotte after a not so pleasant experience at a BMW dealership in Charlotte. I was only there to see if they had a comparable SUV to the X5. When I arrived at the dealership I was greeted by an exceptionally pleasant man named Gary Shaw. I was upfront about why I was there and he offered to just let me take a look at any car I wanted. I sat in a few cars but was still undecided. A day later I called Gary to see if I could come over for a test drive at a specific time b/c I was in between conference calls. When I arrived, the car was out front waiting me and so was Gary. I couldn’t have asked for better service that day or the day I came back to actually purchase my XC60! If you need a car I highly recommend talking with Gary. The entire process was scheduled and Volvo Charlotte’s staff honored my time.

I purchased a 2018 Volvo S60 from this dealership. The transaction began in CARGURUS. Christine from VOC immediately contacted me, confirmed the car was still available and passed my contact information along John Veno. John called me within in an hour; we discussed the vehicle, my needs and “next steps.” This was extremely efficient as I live 90 miles away from the dealership. The financing application (through the Volvo website) was user-friendly and brief. John called me back with the terms they offered. We discussed trade-in options. Two days later I drove to Charlotte and picked up the car. The car was clean and ready. Greg S. had the Financing paperwork ready for my signature. We were in and out of the dealership in an hour, and that includes the t eat drive. The entire interaction with VOC was seamless and a great experience. Highly recommend their dealership.

You will get ripped off with 495 dollar charge for oil change! Freddie is absolutely rude! Thank you as you have turned me off Volvo as a replacement as well!

I recently purchased a very lightly used 2019 V90 from Volvo Charlotte. The process was a bit involved, as I live in Illinois and would need to travel to make the purchase. The team was great at answering all my questions, and making the transaction easy.If my review only covered the period of time before, and the day, I took ownership, it would be five stars. The downgrade comes because of things I’ve learned about the vehicle after leaving Charlotte. Yes, the car was purchased “as-is,” but I’m still uncomfortable with discovering these things myself, as opposed to the dealership providing the info.A day or two after picking up the car, I realized there was overspray on the front spoiler - an indication of something happening when in possession of the previous owner. It was fairly mild, you can’t see it unless you look closely and/or touch the paint, but when I brought it to the attention of Volvo Charlotte, they relayed they had never noticed it. I was disappointed with that response, but I moved on.Since then, I noticed condensation on the inside of the driver’s side rear tail light, which led me to believe the lens wasn’t seated properly; the light was also dimmer than the one on the passenger’s side. So yesterday, I brought the car to a local mechanic who does great work on imports, thinking he could drop new bulbs in and make sure the light structure was positioned properly.I’ve since learned that the wiring harness was corroded, likely due to the improperly positioned light. Per the mechanic, the corrosion isn’t something that happens overnight. So I’m again faced with a situation that began before I bought the car, which I was not alerted to during the transaction.Neither of these things would have kept me from buying the V90, but I would feel much more secure about the purchase, and better about the car moving forward, were I aware of them at the time.

Purchased a 2018 V90 Cross Country from Frederick Gates. Frederick was extremely responsive and helpful with getting all the details on the condition of the car that made me very comfortable with the long distance sight unseen purchase. After we made the deal, Frederick arranged to have the car shipped to me and the process was very painless. He continued to answer his phone every time Ive called with follow up questions and was unfailingly courteous and very helpful every time we spoke. Volvo of Charlotte sales may not like me posting here about another dealer, however keep reading. I purchased my 2019 s60 inscription at a different dealer, only because they had the color and options I wanted in stock. However, service at hickory Volvo and Volvo of Charlotte is a night and day difference. If you are thinking about buying a Volvo at Volvo of Charlotte, be rest assured that you will be taken care of by service in the best way possible. When I buy my next Volvo, I will definitely be purchasing at Volvo of Charlotte instead of Hickory just due to the fact that service has treated me so well. Treating people well in the service lane goes a long way.
I brought my car to this location for excessive shaking issue. I have proof they had my car a total amount of over 70 days trying to figure out the issue. They kept sending it back with it still shaking because they couldn’t figure it out. Then the last time they sent it back they said 3 rims were bent and it was not covered under my warranty. How in the world could they not figure out it was 3 rims from balancing the tires the first day? Let alone almost 3 months! I bought the car from Carvana and they said because Volvo had my car for that long, even providing proof, they won’t fix the rims or replace because I had the car too long and it was outside of their warranty. So how does that work? I have a service guy at Volvo telling me “sorry it’s taking so long, to be honest, it’s taking this long because our techs don’t get paid for working on your car so they have to work on cars that pay them and then your car here and there”. Literally the exact thing he told me. My car sits and sits and the techs can’t figure out the issue and I engage Volvo corporate to get involved and then all of a sudden it’s 3 bent rims and they won’t replace them. What a terrible experience and 100% volvos fault Carvana won’t replace the rims and Volvo won’t step up and replace them. In that time the warranty expired from the dealer I bought the vehicle from. So I’m stuck with bent wheels because your techs can’t read a tire balancer. Take your vehicle somewhere else people.

Listen, I usually DREAD buying a car.I USUALLY find it tiring, and sometimes defeating. In the past it was hours in the dealership, negotiating and waiting. Let me tell you; I WILL ONLY BUY CARS FROM JEREMY! I have never had a more pleasant experience! He has been patient, kind and respectful through the entirety of the buying process and beyond. I don’t usually have a lot available time in my day to physically go in the dealership so Jeremy sent me all the links to the cars he knew I’d be interested in! He brought me the car to test drive and inspect and helped me negotiate a deal within a matter of hours. I didn’t step foot in the dealership until i signed papers (20minutes). He has continued to help me even AFTER the sale. He responds quickly and always has the answers needed! I have never written a review for Volvo before (they also have great customer service) but i felt compelled because it has been awhile since having this level of customer care!
This is very hard to rate. New 2019 XC60. Salesman was good. Everyone has been nice. However, I have had the car approximately 5 months and have to take it in for service 5 times. The entire sound system went out, so they replaced the sound module. When they put my license tag on they only screwed in one bolt so the plate spun and scratched the paint - they touched that up. 12 V charge error - system update / CANS update in shop for almost 2 days. Check engine light on yesterday - EV emissions fault/hose replacement, part must be ordered and wont be in until next week. So while the sales experience was great and quick - I am really starting to question reliability. Service department said this was normal. I dont believe that is true and if it is normal then I really question long-term reliability. Definitely experiencing some buyers remorse. Less than 5 months from driving off of the lot and have had it back in for non-routine service more than my previous three cars combined.

I think a sales team meeting is long overdue at Volvo Cars Charlotte. Ive been a service customer here since my wife and I moved to Charlotte almost two years ago. Two weeks ago I came in to talk about trading in our 18 XC60 for a used 20 XC90 that had been sitting on their lot for 45 days. I came into that dealership prepared, I did my homework, came in with numbers, FACTS, and was ready to make a deal. They offered a ridiculous low ball offer of $31K for our XC60. Might I add our XC60 was fully loaded (literally) and clean trades are supposed to be around $36-38K. VCC best was $34,500 and after I asked them to come up an additional $500 and with the offer I made on the XC90, they simply said Well call you.Im sure Gary never even presented the offer to Greg. Because I never got a call.I called another Volvo Dealership and they offered $37,500 on my trade. Looks like my numbers werent so off the charts after all? The difference here is that Volvo dealership was in the business to buy and sell cars. Volvo Cars Charlotte is in the business at looking at the cars on their lot and allowing them to depreciate. So ask yourself isnt it easier to be reasonable and keep a loyal customer happy than trying to convince someone to buy Volvo over Audi, BMW, Land Rover, etc...No need to reinvent the wheel on selling cars guys, take care of your loyal customers, no one is getting rich off a couple thousand more on trade in.That XC90 is still available. 52 days and counting...

Recently brought my 2008 S60 in for service. As always, it was a great experience, everyone is friendly and service was done in a timely manner. While I was there I spoke with a salesperson about the possibility of purchasing a new S60 which I’m excited about and will be doing sooner than expected. Great sales and service team here
Just picked up my 2018 XC90 from service. Car is a CPO model with extended warranty. Odometer at 51K miles. Was told I needed new front pads and rotors. My driving is 75% highway and I have done about 25k miles since purchase in March 2019. Front rotors and pads were supposedly replaced under warranty at 32K due to a slight vibration. So, here we are at 20K more and they are needed again due to pad wear? Service advisor states Volvo uses soft pads and strongly recommend changing rotors with each pad change. Conclusion is that new front rotors and pads (about $800) will be needed every 20K miles? Really? I put on lots of highway miles for work, and have NEVER had a car that required ANY brake work in less than 100K miles. If 20k rotor/pad replacement is needed, perhaps Volvo is not for me.
