My bike was tuned and repaired awesomely. The staff said nice things about my bike and showed me some maintenance techniques. A fun and solid place!
I am not usually one to leave reviews on google. More so I try to spread the good word here locally every chance I get. However it was after the consistent accumulation of positive interactions on positive interactions that leads me to this review. Boulder Bicycle Works in my experience has been such a pivotal figure for the greater biking community here in Boulder. Consistently I am met with outstanding customer service, fantastic biking knowledge, and Brian is always there to lend an ear. Even when he has bikes on deck waiting to fix. I am sorry I do not know the names of the other employees who work there, but each of them provide their expertise on such a caliber that makes you feel welcomed, heard, and understood.Recently, I took my beloved bike into another shop to ask about opening up some gears to help with some hill climbs, and at another shop I was met with well you should just get a new bike. (audible gasp, I know). I then took it to Brian at Boulder Bicycle Works and we went outside and hammered out some ideas on what we could to do make it work. Low and behold, Brian came in clutch and offered his skills and expertise to suggest a way to help me out. Currently working on the bike, I know it is in good hands.I would say that if you live in Boulder, have a bike, or want a bike, go here. Of course there are many great shops in Boulder (benefits of being in Boulder), however I believe that it is one of the greats. Check them out.
5/5 Best service!! Great prices! Wonderful atmosphere!! Fixed my gears so fast and with so much ease! Thank you Boulder Bicycle Works ! :)
Almost had my pedals stolen here. Went in and asked to use a pedal tool. They insisted on having their own tech switch out my pedals and charged me for it (totally fair, shop has got to make money). However, after the switch, I had to ask several times to get my existing, extremely nice pedals back (I was temporarily switching to flat pedals while recovering from a injury that prevented me from using clipless). Can’t recommend this place as it felt like the tech wanted to keep/steal the carbon pedals I was taking off (which were in great condition - was just making a temporary switch due to injury) because he kept asking if I was sure I wanted them back.
Needed an innertube for a jogging stroller. Out of my element. An associate took a look at what I brought in, sold me a new tube, and gave me tips on how to replace everything! Told me to come back if I needed more help! Great place👍
This shop is fabulous! Their customer service is wonderful and their repair service exceeded expectations. I brought my old road bike in for a brake adjustment & picked up a finely-tuned machine! My brakes are amazing and my shifters feel like they did 25 years ago! I will definitely be back (although I don’t know what for, since everything is perfect).
Brian and everyone of the mechanics are highly experienced, knowledgeable about all things cycling (and quite willing to teach a customer cool things), do excellent work for all your bicycle needs, have a quick turn over time, and are a very friendly bunch of guys. I highly recommend Boulder Bicycle Works for expert, professional bicycle work.
The staff here is fantastic. I stopped in for a map since Im new to Boulder, and Brian spent time showing me the routes and answering my questions. Dave helped me get set up with pedals and cleats to match my shoes along with giving me guidance and helping me practice getting comfy clipping in and out. Great vibes, and really personal customer service. Thanks, yall!
Im new to the Boulder area, and was beyond delighted when Brian and Billy at Boulder Bicycle Works helped me build out a titanium MTB frame Id purchased. Brian was extremely down to earth about the entire process, and never batted an eye even when I swapped out components at the last minute due to the stock shortages affecting suppliers. You have no idea how amazing it feels to buy a frame and be ripping that same bike down a trail a week later -- on the *exact* build you were hoping to achieve. These guys are total pros and I trust every word they say.
Boulder Bicycle Works never fails me. So capable and competent with any bike it is awe-inspiring. Fair prices, and they do what they promise. All my bikes get the love I cant give at BBW. Thanks fellas. See ya soon.
Dedicated, solid, attentive people with lots of experience and apparently the good connections need to get parts (in this COVID year, there are shortages). Feels like such a good honest business, it was a pleasure to support.
Best bike shop I’ve been to so far. Very kind and helpful staff. You guys rock! 5 stars all the way
Glad to be working with Zach again. Great service, always friendly and very knowledgeable.
First time visiting the shop; an exceptional experience. I made an appointment just a few days earlier for a bike tune - the brief conversation was friendly and attentive. The service on the scheduled day was timely, the repair was thorough & professional, and the team there absolutely made my day as I was back on the road quickly with a clean and safe bicycle for my new commute!
150 five star reviews pretty much says it all. As mentioned many times, these guys are friendly and do high quality work for a reasonable price. Ill be back.
I rarely review places, but Boulder Bicycle Works is worthy of a great review. Over a year of going to the shop, they have taken great care of me and my bikes. They held my bike over 2 months after parts got lost in shipping, and worked with the shipper to get me all the parts necessary and built it when everything arrived, with no extra costs due to a more complex build and a long holding period. They fix my bikes quickly and professionally, and charge very fair prices. Most of all, they are kind and never make any customer feel foolish for asking any questions, and were willing to give packing parts to me when I packed my bike for flights. Best bike shop in Boulder, I won’t go anywhere else!
I had been spending HOURS looking for a bike shop that could change out the break pad on my ebike. Most places did not want to take it, but these guys did! They were upfront and said they could not help with electronics issues, but they were good for mechanical ones. And they were! Absolutely zero complaints. Lovely staff, great work. I will be taking all my bikes to them now, not just my ebike, and will be recommending Boulder Bicycle Works to all my friends with ebikes.
Hands down the best bicycle shop in Boulder, period! My friend and I have RadCity ebikes, and we wouldnt take them anywhere else.James
You guys are really the best!
Fast, friendly and super knowledgeable!
I love this bike shop, situated in a perfect location along the Boulder Bike paths behind Whole Foods. The staff is friendly and very professional. I got my chain cleaned and replaced, and now use a new kind of lubricant that works much better. I also go back to get little fixes and adjustments made here and there, and it is either free or very cheap. This is the perfect place to get your bike in top shape for the season for a bargain.
Arguably the best bike shop in Boulder! Brian and the team always take excellent of me. They are very informative, excellent to work with, and I highly recommend Boulder Bicycle Works! Brian worked with me to get my SRAM roam 60 carbon rear wheel rebuilt. Very fair prices. Excellent customer service. Brian kept me up to date with the options and when the wheel would be completed. Thank you Brian and keep up the great work!
These guys are about as good as it gets for a bike shop. Have been going to them for years. They do what they say they are going to do and they are excellent at what they do. When it comes to small business karma, these guys deserve all the success in the world. They earn it every day.
Dave was super helpful and informative - extraordinarily friendly staff!
Fantastic Bike Shop! I purchased a bike in a box online and was at first hesitant to have it assembled and tuned at a local bike shop because of previous poor experiences. The crew here were so professional, friendly, and answered all my questions without the ego you find from other bike shops that are trying to sell you their bikes. Extremely reasonable prices and fast service. Id recommend these guys to anyone who wants to support a local bike shop hands down. Thanks Guys!
Super helpful, very knowledgeable and welcoming. This is the best bike shop to get your bike fixed in Boulder. I have talked mostly with Billy while visiting the shop and he is great. The other mechanics are also super nice and helpful.
I took my road bike in for some new parts and a tune up yesterday. I just finished a shake-down ride, and this bike has never shifted better nor run more quietly. Eric did a fantastic job with the tune up and replacement parts. The team noted my concerns and addressed them all. They also estimated the costs well--no surprises at check-out. Love this shop!
This is a great shop for repair. Theyre honest. Theyre not trying to upsell you and they do GREAT work. Plus -- and this is super important -- they dont talk down to you. An all-around great experience.
I had a wonderful experience here. The staff were helpful and innovative. They were very affordable. I would highly recommend this bicycle repair shop.
I can’t say enough good things about the quality service and dedication to “going above and beyond” by all the staff at Boulder Bicycle Works! As a dedicated rider I depend on my bikes and my mechanics and they have always provided nothing but the best service in a friendly non-elitist fashion at a fair price. In addition to great service they carry quality parts and accessories, there’s not a huge selection but more of “everything you need but nothing you don’t”!Highest recommendation!
Great service! Everyone in the shop is very knowledgeable and kind. Best bike shop in Boulder.
Brian the owner and the guys are awesome!!!My new bike shop when Im in Boulder.Another great visit to get my rear cable replaced.Super cool vibe and a great shop and crew. Thanks again!!!
These guys are top notch. I will take my bikes there again and again in Boulder. Had some finicky hydraulic brake issues and they went above and beyond to fix them!
Had a very positive experience with Boulder Bicycle Works. I got a flat tire and their shop was nearby, they agreed to fix my tire on the spot. I ended up leaving my bike overnight because turned out I need a new brake pads and some other work done which they did professionally and had my bike ready the next day.
Guys know their bikes.....super helpful....they have all the tools to help a busted tire....ill go back!
Upon needing a rush truing for my mountain bike wheel, I got to talking to the staff who gave me great ideas and insight to find the right gravel bike for my needs. I ultimately decided to buy through them as they were able to resolve my search. Very accommodating and communicative throughout the entire process. They have definitely won my business on my bikes and Ill be sure to refer my friends!
Wholeheartedly love this shop! I am VERY green to cycling and Brian and his team have been so AMAZING! I have now stopped in a handful of times and always had all my questions answered in a kind and thoughtful manner (no matter how basic of a question I am asking). Being new to the sport this shop is hands down the friendliest I have been to in Boulder.
I appreciate they could get me in and out with my tire repair! It is a very nice shop and staff is very knowledgeable and kind.
Highly recommend. Had drivetrain and frame/suspension service done on my mtn bike. Very nice, professional shop mechanics. They squeezed my in early when they didnt have to and got everything done quicker than expected. Fair (if not better) prices. Will definitely be coming back.
This place is awesome. I brought in my beater commute bike after being told by other shops that I needed to spend $200+ to replace the wheelset, the drive train, the whole bike... Boulder Bicycle Works was able to get the bike working with a $35 repair. I was so relieved that they understood that premium upgrades on a get-around-town bike completely defeats the purpose. I felt like they actually listened to me here!
These guys were so pleasant and not snobby. They helped me find some older parts in their bin, took the time to show me how to install, and listened actively to and old bike warriors stories.
Gold standard bike repair. A truly great repair shop for anywhere. Techs providing great service, unbiased suggestions/recommendations, and a knowledge base from being cyclists themselves. This shop stocks many of the parts for common repairs. Turn around may be quicker than shops ordering parts weeks away. If your drive train gets filthy every ride ask these guys about Squirts wax-based lubricant. One of my favorite recommendations from these guys.Ive had more than a dozen interactions with this shop for service including:I9 hub endcap swap and rim re-dishing on 29+ wheelset, Suspension Fork-cut and Bottom Bracket installation w/ a fat bike build.Fork-cut on Aero bike w/ integrated Bar/Stem cabling. Additionally, serviced Di2 component/e-tube reroute that was installed poorly at the factory(rattled/noise over bumps).Endurance roadbike GRX install, GRX derailleurs replacement(previously 105 shimano). Recommended and replaced factory BB bearings with Angular style(very stiff), expanded range road cassette, indexing, and cable housing replacement(internally routed). I9 Freehub body swap.Crank/BB service for old XC Hardtail.
I have taken road bikes, mountain bikes, and cyclocross bikes here for repairs that are too tricky to do myself. These mechanics are true pros that do a fantastic job. Prices are very fair as well.
Great experience- quick service and very tailored to my individual needs. They didnt blink an eye when I said I know nothing about bikes. In an out with a new tire that fit my needs in about 20 minutes.
This is the bike ship you are looking for. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They provide quick-turn service when their workload allows them to do so, and are very reasonable.
The best in Boulder, bar none. Friendly service, good prices, great knowledge. Don’t regret going anywhere else (like me), come here first!
My favorite bike shop in town! Such helpful and kind staff.
I had called around and knew with COVID a lot of shops were booked solid weeks out. Brian (?) was great - I needed tires & a tune up. It was 3pm on a Friday- I was prepared to leave it. He said no come on down now and we can at least get your tires done TODAY! I’ve got a 20yr old MTB and well frankly haven’t spent any money on it and now use it more for commuting. They sold me a wonderful tire set at a good price and had it done by the next morning! Thanks guys- I’m happy to spend locally and keep our biz going around town! I appreciate your wonderful service even with my old sort of cheap entry level MTB. You got me back out! I’ll be back for that tune up.
These guys are amazing! my old mtn bike wasnt shifting properly, i took it to my long trusted bike shop and they couldnt figure out the problem, and quoted me over a $1000 to resolve it.... billy fixed it in minutes for $15. very intelligent, experienced, and honest people.
Dropped off a new bike to be built today - Amazing speed, service and price! Couldnt be happier. My office is close by to hear and will be happily promoting to my bike-friendly co-workers!
My bike mechanic experience is pretty limited, so I brought it in for a tone-up. They explained to me in great detail what was included in the tune-up and how much it would cost. I also pointed out some other issues I was having with the bike. They measured the chain and showed me it would be a good idea to replace it. The front brake pads were worn, but he said it would last a bit longer. It was really great to be shown why certain things had to be replaced and others not. After deciding on that had to be done, he said the work would probably be done in 2 days, maybe 1 (this was amazing, Ive left my bike at other places for almost a week). Sure enough, the next day, they called me up and said the bike was ready. To wrap up, great bike shop, super friendly and experienced and best part, super fast. My bike is riding like new, highly recommend it!
I continue to be impressed with the attention to detail the BBW service department offers. They have worked on several bikes for me and always completed my repairs in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. Will continue to use them in the future.
Really great experience at BBW. Ill be back.
Excellent!Brian and Billy are knowledgeable, experienced, kind, and humble. My wife and I immediately felt comfortable working with this team and they have our complete trust.Brian spent a significant amount of time listening and helping me to find what I was looking for. Billy put everything together flawlessly, even taking my prior custom fit measurements, of which I was particular about, and dialing in my new bike before I arrived to test it out. He got it just right on the first try. Billy kept me updated throughout the entire process, from when my new bike/parts arrived to when it was ready, which took less than four business days from when I placed the order.Weve since purchased another new bike from Boulder Bicycle Works and had an equally impressive experience. In sum, experienced mechanics who are also friendly and trustworthy! My wife and I are both very happy with our bikes and enjoy working with this shop.
Best shop in town with no attitude, just excellent service. You can’t have 54 reviewed (all 5 star) and not be great at what you do. This is just that...Thank you for working on my bike yesterday Billy...I appreciated you getting me out quickly and fairly priced. Bike park was partially closed, but my son and I still found some parts of the park to ride.Cheers!
The absolute BEST bike mechanics in town. Brian and Billy are so friendly and so helpful! I love these guys and completely trust them with my bike tunes, repairs, and bike fits. Thank you both for being so AWESOME!!! 😃
Went to Boulder Bicycle Works to get a cassette changed and my wheels trued. Immediately greeted and assisted by Billy. We went through what needed to be done and he gave a very reasonable quote. Had it done super quickly and assured everything else was working great! He even showed me how I could tell when parts were wearing or needed assistance. I’d definitely recommend this shop. The owner is genuine, shop isn’t trying to steal from you and they take pride in their work!
I love the team at Boulder Bicycle Works. They do great work and are always very helpful!
Brian and Dave are incredible. Always happy to help with the quick drop-by fix or something more serious. Love chatting with them and sharing a coffee while I wait. I cant recommend these guys enough!
Great customer service & prices. I’ve gotten my brake pads changed on one bike & on another new tubes, set up for my height & a few extras (head light, pump, lock, & chain). Thankful for these guys.
I had a great experience with this bike shop!! They tuned up by bike for a reasonable price and quick turn around. Very friendly customer service. A few weeks later, I brought it back in (a piece of my bike was damaged) they fixed it up for me right then at no charge (5 minutes before closing on a Saturday I might add!). A+, go check them out!
I walked in to buy an inner tube and the guy working there helped me change it out - faster than I could have done it - without me even asking. Great service.
Excellent service, Knowledge of new and old bikes is remarkable. Support Small Shops!Updated review, I run a small Bicycle Fabricator In town. Ive worked with them professionally for service on our overflow, as well as refer all my specialized mechanics jobs that I do not have the tools for. they have always been kind and fair to all of my customers I have sent them.KEEP IT UP!
Brian and Billy are always very dependable - they do great work, do it on time, and do it in a friendly and helpful manner. I take all my bikes there for repairs and maintenance, and can always count on them.
Friendly, helpful, good price. awesome! what more could you want?
The team at Boulder Bicycle Works are simply the best. Fast and thorough!
These guys are awesome. Worked with me to get my bike upgraded at the cheapest price possible. Also spent a ton of time answering my questions as a new cyclist.
Very impressed! I procrastinated getting my bike worked on before a big fundraiser ride I do and Brian stayed late to make sure I was taken care off. They have earned my business for the long haul. Thank you very much!
These guys REALLY helped me out during todays Elephant Rock 100km. Id picked up an ugly screech in my crank seal/bearings and, at the Palmer Lake Aid Station, they were champs in diagnosing the issue and disassembling my crank and lubing up the whole deal in record time. I sure wish they were closer to Colorado Springs, but their great, friendly service will make me drop in the next time Im in Boulder--or even make a special trip for bikes and beers! Thanks again!
One of the best Boulder bike shops for service. Great people. Very knowledgeable. Fair and honest.
Love the work they do! Always willing and excited to work on my 70s road bike. most other shops in town wont give me the time of day.
These guys did a great job on the tune up I got and it was reasonably priced...I recommend this shop for any serious biker that Cares for their bikes
Had a great experience with Brian and Dave. Planned a pretty spontaneous bike trip and needed quite a bit of work done in a short amount of time. I felt bad with my request, but they made a strong effort to get my bike finished and ended up calling me the next day.Excellent customer service, a personal experience and they both took the time to walk me through the bike with recommendations and good advice. Price was more than reasonable (about 25% lower than a quote I received from a competing bike shop). Exactly what you want in a bike shop and they definitely offer something unique to Boulder (which, among 20+ other bike shops is pretty amazing).Best of luck to both of them in their first year of business.
Super nice shop. What a great repair shop should be. Will be coming back!
Spoke with Brian the owner and he was a really great guy. Helped me out for renting a bicycle for the day so I could explore the area. I would definitely come back there again
Strong service, friendly and knowledgeable.
My 1985 Mongoose rides better than when it was new after the guys at Boulder Bicycle Works restored its glory. Best bike shop experience ever.
I use my bike to get to work everyday. I have taken my bike to several shops around Boulder and have used the services at community cycle, but most of my repairs have had to be re-fixed, because the work wasnt done well enough. When I decided to get some component upgrades and some fixed, I was worried about spending the money and getting just adequate service and quality or have someone not understand my not-so-technical request for technical stuff. I took a chance on Boulder Bicycle Works and was very satisfied with the service and the quality. They understood what I wanted, talked to me about the cost and options, and did an exceptional job in a reasonable time frame. Spending money on bike work can be intimidating, but these guys make the investment worry-free and worthwhile.
My Husband and I love this place, great customer service too!
Had my electric bicycle serviced here. They checked what parts are specialized and what are standard. And took care of it. If you look for high quality service you are at the right place.
Great service. Highly recommended
Awesome service, great team
Amazing! They exhibited every bit of a 5 star experience . It is a pleasure in this current time to find honest business people. They have earned a customer for life! Boulder this is the place to go !!
Spoke over the phone the gentleman was very informative, seemed to genuinely want to help me with my inquiry, and was exactly the same in person. I also love promoting small operations such as this because it is truly quality over quantity.
My wife and I ride old steel frame road bikes. This is the ONLY shop in Boulder that doesnt laugh at us when we take our bikes in for service. The guys are awesome and friendly and they do good work. I recommend this shop to everybody.
These gentlemen helped me through a real head-scratcher of a problem, going so far as to call the manufacturer of my rims and discover that the rims themselves were problematic. Excellent work, straightforward communication, more than fair pricing, and just good people here. Ill never go anywhere else. Thank you so much!!
I was having trouble with breaking spokes on the rear wheel of my Cannondale bike. These guys (Brian and Dave) hand-built a new heavy-duty, super-strong rear wheel for my bike, using a Velocity 40-spoke tandem-rated stainless steel hub and Velocity Cliffhanger rim. The new wheel works perfectly on my bike: super-strong, rock-solid. I have started riding my bike to work again, with absolutely no problems. I couldnt be happier with this bike shop and the solution they found for me. Thanks guys ... I will definitely be back!
Friendliest service in Boulder, always fully equipped, and ready to help with whatever your needs may be. Boulder Bicycle Works services wide ranges of cyclists, and fits any requests. The best bike shop in Boulder by far!
Down to Earth bike shop with excellent mechanics. I trust Brian and Dave with anything conceivable involving bikes. Good guys, good shop.
Dave and Brian have worked on my bikes many times. They are kind, helpful and they always make me feel welcome. The shop has a neighborhood feel and theyll even brew you coffee if you want. Besides the trustworthy service and years of experience I never feel intimidated. I can walk in and know a bit about what my bike needs and I can walk in with no clue. Either way, they always treat me well and my bikes are always in great condition when I leave. The other bonus that I love is that I can just stop in. I dont need to make an appointment. Cant say enough good things about the shop.
After using several different shops in town, finally settled on BBW and love it. Fair price, great service, and great staff.
My bike had been sitting in the garage for nearly 2 years while I was busy going thru cancer treatment and recovery. Today I was determined to ride. So I rode the Goose Creek path with my dry rotted tires to Bicycle Works. Brian was there an hour before close. He replaced my tires on the spot. He went thru my bike to make sure it was safe to ride and we scheduled a time for a full tune up. I was back on the path before sunset for my inaugural ride. HE WAS AWESOME. I know there are a lot of shops in Boulder. I have been to most of them.. I am happy to say I have found my new go to for all things related to bicycle repair and maintenance. Easy access by car or bike. Convenient parking. And the owners themselves work on your bike. No guess work here. Stop by and say hi. I promise you will convert.
My derailleur hanger and gear cable sheared off my bike recently. I called around to several shops in Boulder to inquire about having the hanger and cable replaced and derailleur adjusted. After hearing remarkably high labor quotes and/or two to three weeks delays on repairs I came across Boulder Bicycle Works.I was thoroughly impressed with the staffs demeanor, desire to help and their ability to explain the issue at hand. They gave me the most reasonable quote I had heard so far (which they did not exceed by a penny after the work was completed) and finished the repairs in under two days. My bike is to shifting smoothly once again. I will certainly be returning next time my bike is in need of repair!
I wish I had the time and ability to DIY but, the crew here went above and beyond helping me modify/update my Mountain Bike and Gravel/Bikepack Bike. They are very reasonably priced and will take the time to listen to the issue. Top notch service and follow up, I can proudly say MY shop!
Excellent shop. Nice guys. Know their stuff. Rapid turn around on service.
Here you will get world-class service from knowledge and trustworthy bike geeks. Brian may be the best and nicest bike mechanic in Boulder!
Disappointed. Charged almost 20% more than a NYC shop with less service. 2 cents makes all the difference and maybe my expectations are wrong.I mistakenly assumed an owner operated bike shop in a lower rent space would provide excellent customer service since return business is essential. For me, a visit to any shop for service is not due to lack of ability but lack of time. I brought in a recently purchased second hand beater to have some basic work performed. Overall, the work was adequate but based on what I was charged, I was quite shocked by the following:1) the bike was not cleaned (Yes most shops do that in NYC for what I was charged)2) The wheels were trued but the brakes were fairly open which is usually indicative of a mechanics belief that the wheels will lose trueness quickly. (Will see if this happens)3) I should have been told the tires should be replaced soon (I knew that coming in but wanted to see if anyone noticed. The simple I can order those tires if you like. Was not asked which, again is basic customer service4)Was charged xxx.x2 Since It is an owner operated shop I chose to pay in cash. a) this gives the proprietor more money since credit card fees have been eliminated b) provides real operating cash (regardless of the amount) Figured I would not have received 8 cents back but a dime as the tacit thank you for not paying with plastic nor having to deal with pennies. Maybe things are different here in CO and I am a spoiled and uptight New Yorker but back where I come from, the few owner operated shops will either provide a discount for paying cash or at least round to the nearest nickel, dime or even quarter in the customers favor. I took the exact change as a F U. Dont come back and I wont.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------In response to the owners comments. I shouldnt have to wash grease from my hands after touching a bike that was just worked on. Im sorry you feel wiping down a bike with a rag is so time consuming that it constitutes a billable line item. Sorry you have contempt for your customers. I did not realize a paying customer bringing in a partially assembled bike with some spare parts is gauche. My dropping the review from 3 stars would be tacky.
Bought my daughter a Jamis bicycle from Dave and Brian, great service, very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this shop for all your cycle needs, these guys are top mechanics, many thanks...
