Dave is honest, straightforward, flexible and fast. Came across his business when searching online for repair shops (didn’t want to go to a dealership). As a female who knows nothing about cars, his honesty was refreshing and I never felt pressured. He was also flexible with me dropping my car off after hours to leave overnight for repair the next day.

Dave was super helpful in getting my VW beetle in the day we called and got the little repair done quick and walked me through exactly what he did. Would recommend his services to anyone with a VW who wants quick and honest work done on their vehicle.

I live in Texas but my 79 Bug Convertible was with family in Portland. I had her tuned up (deep tuning) and numerous engine auxillaries replaced prior to shipping to Texas. I trusted them to do this right without me there to inspect. D&M knocked it out of the park. Best my Bug has run in years. They earned my business and my trust from over the horizon. Having owned my Bug since 88, Ive been through a few repair shops. D&M is the best Ive encountered thus far. Id give them six stars if I Google Business permitted.

I took my Subaru Legacy GT 2005 to Dave and they did a great job doing these works: replaced clutch, power steering pump, turbo inlet hose, cam sensor. They showed me worn and defective parts - all repairs make perfect sense. The car had issues with engine stalling and rough idling - not anymore!The pricing was fair, compared to the Subaru dealer service estimates.I will definitely come back for my next repair.

After reading all the great reviews I brought my classic VW beetle here for repairs. Dave was honest and pleasant to work with, did high quality work at a very fair price using the best quality parts, I’d never go anywhere else after coming here and highly recommend this shop.

Great shop for Vanagon owners. I have visited this shop 4 times after being very disappointed at other east side Portland shops. The shop owner has been able to identify very difficult to debug items with my vehicle and has provided an assessment that matches the fixes needed. I know my car!

Hands down on of the best experiences I have had with a mechanic. D & M is the only shop I trust to take care of my Volkswagens.

1993 Eurovan with a coolant leak. Called on a Monday, brought the rig in first thing Tuesday, and the broken part was fixed and the car was ready by 1pm that day. Plus some free advice on things to consider for repair next. All at a fair price. Cant ask for anything better than that.

I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. The work they do is solid, and their shop prices are fair. Most recently, they gave me some advice on how to replace the coil packs myself, and saved me quite a bit of money. This is the only place Id take my bug for service.

Asked them to change transmission fluid. Not only did they not do that, they charged me to reset engine light ( which was for an unrelated coolant issue). Of course the check engine light came back on in an hour. This is one of THOSE shops. Stay away.

I am extremely car illiterate and everyone there explained things in terms I could understand and were very patient with me. Super kind and understanding people.

I had a mediocre experience with this shop. The negativity was disappointing and contagious. I was consistently confronted with assumptions on the part of ownership. Poor communication combined with lack of optimism was enough for me to have my vehicle moved to another shop. Sorry for the bad news!

Outstanding Service. David and his team have serviced my Passat for the past 10 years. Never a complaint. The repair work is explained, confirmed, and the job is completed with precision--since I have never made a return trip for the same repair. I found D&M Automotive after a series of questionable and amateurish service events with a local VW dealership. I have found Dave to be very upfront and honest with the diagnoses and recommended repairs. I have 195K original miles on this car, and still counting, and I owe that longevity to the care and maintenance suggestions from Dave and his team.

The owner Dave is a very honest and was very thorough in diagnosing and explaining the problems of my VW Jetta. He fixed the problems that the Herzog-Meyer VW Dealership couldn’t fix after three days. I am very satisfied with his performances and knowledge and character and the prices! We had what we thought to be an exhaust leak in our 2004 Jetta. Dave found three broken pieces of plastic, all part of the crankcase breather system. He found the problem, corrected it, and the difference is remarkable! Thank you Dave! This was our first experience with D & M Automotive and I will be back.

He found the issues regarding my vehicle and fixed them. He was very genuine from the start. Very experienced mechanic regardig audis and VWs.
